I was extremely depressed when I had to kill him. The second I reached the dialogue, I searched up every guide to see if there was a way to save him. Sadly no, but he will always be remembered.
I've been on the fence about this mod for a long time, especially about recruiting Tamlen. I have to say i'm very impressed by the way that the recruiting and curing was done in keeping with the lore of both DA:O and DA:A. Not just for Tamlen, but for all the individuals. Well Done!
Seems all the trouble involved by trying to save that brat Connor in the DAO base game, there could have been an option to save your best elf bud. Funny how the leader of the Dalish refers to your bud as 'her'. Grrrr....
I think it's a random encounter after you get Tamlen, you find her fighting some Darkspawn and help her... argh played it long ago don't remember exactly but i think it was like that. I'll have to replay it one of these days :P
totally messed up lore. the warden ritual wouldn't have worked on him. the warden ritual is mastering the taint, and tamlen had already been tainted and failed to master it. giving him "more taint" wouldn't have helped.... remember when the ash warriors tell you about how regular people who fight darkspawn and get infected have a chance of mastering the taint and becoming immune? yea basically tameln was infected and couldn't win to the taint, therefore rendering the warden ritual useless and definitely past due
I know. In my good game I did not bring him back. Now I have the new version of Karma's companions mod and I can chose to kill him. As much as I like Tamlen he is part of my character's past. I replayed the whole game to save Loghain and there's no Tamlen in my new game. But I did it for this one play through to try the quest out.
You really don't seem to know anything about Dragon Age. First of all, for someone to master the taint they have to undergo The Joining, in which, they mix darkspawn blood with lyrium (drinking the blood or just being exposed to it doesn't give you a chance to master it), and second, the Ash Warriors don't know anything about how to master the taint (only Grey Wardens know that), the only the Ash Warriors (from the Ostagar Camp) know is that being exposed to it cab kill you, be it human, warhound, etc.
Hexiel154.1 you're putting words in my mouth. all i said is that the ash warriors said regular people can master it by themselves or "become immune" when they become infected. some don't die, and become immune forever. i never said the ash warriors knew how. second of all, you don't have to do what the grey wardens do to become immune. you can just become infected, and maybe survive, but that doesn't make you a grey warden, it just makes you immune later. don't put words in my mouth, i know what i'm talking about.

I know it’s just a mod but if Tamlen was in a taig, and it wasn’t darkspawn that got him, could it have been Sha-Brytol? The mod stated that Tamlen heard singing. Could this have been the same singing that Shaper Valta heard during the decent DLC?
I think that’s unlikely. The Sha-Brytal haven’t been shown to proses anything that might effect the blight sickness in a person. Tamlen mentioned the “dark thing” want to experiment so it is likely in reference to the Architect.
The title is not click bait. The title states what the player did in the game; save and recruit Tamlen. It also explains in the description that the player used a MOD called "Karma's Companions" in order to do this. Trying to put all of that in the title would make the title ridiculously long. This is what the description is for.
This was the most heartbreaking part for me! I actually cried when I killed Tamlen to save him. My sister walked into the room and made fun of me, so I super glued her phone to the nightstand. Bitch!

It doesn't come right out and say that. Meaning Tamlen never mentions the Architect by name. But from what I read (granted it was hard to catch all the dialogue) it does seem to imply that. Personally, I would assume so, were I playing through those scenes.
The Architect is the only one you actually meet playing the games (not including DA2 and DAI as I have not played those, so cannot comment on them.) But if you choose the right conversation options in Awakenings, the Architect states he has been actively experimenting on Grey Wardens and Darkspawn, using Grey Warden blood to create the Disciples: enlightened and self-aware darkspawn who no longer hear the calling of the "old Gods." Because he is the only Darkspawn who seems interested in collecting blood samples and doing experiments to see what happens, it seems a logical conclusion that the potion Tamlen has was one crated by the Architect, even if he is not mentioned by name.
You can only do that with a mod. It is not part of the game, in the game Tamlen attacks you and you have to kill him. I modded the game so I didn't have to with the mod that is in the description.

The joining isn't a cure for the taint. It slows it down so to speak Grey wardens are tainted. After a time an old warden will hear the calling which is the song that the dark spawn and ghouls follow and it will get louder and harder to ignore.( 30yrs after ritual give or take) Thats why they go to the deep roads to go out on a last stand while they are still able to resist the worst of the the calling. That does make me question how many do go out like that or just get caught by the architect or just fall to the taint and become ghouls.
WetDogBed Or enhances the experience Bioware left out due to rushing things. Some mods (Grey Warden of Fereldan, Morrigan restoration patch and etc) give you the chance to experience the full circle.
+WetDogBed Perhaps, but sometimes when you play the origin stories you get attached to a particular character or what not. The mod allows you to be able to save and / or recruit those companions. There are a few I've always wondered why they were not recruitable. Especially Jowan, as he appears later in the game, in a place where you SHOULD have the option to save his ass like Duncan saves a few of the PC Wardens (City Elf, Dwarf Commoner for example) by invoking the Rite of Conscription.
You find him automaticlly after you have finished 3 of the Warden Treaties after you have been ambushed by darkspawn in your camp. The Recruiting part is just a mod though.

As you see in the video, when they attack your camp and you find him instead of killing him you recruit him. You have to wait for that attack, you cannot find him before that.

I mean it would be made a bit more sense if Andrastes ashes were used instead.
This encounter happens the first time you try to travel to Haven so it’s impossible to get the ashes before this.

Origins was truly a balanced dark fantasy where there was a tragic stories like this but also hope for a better future

You can only do that with a mod. It is not part of the game, in the game Tamlen attacks you and you have to kill him. I modded the game so I didn't have to with the mod that is in the description.

i did the same. its fucking unfair. i tried fucking everything to save him. the game should have let me use the sacred ash's but i couldn't so i faced the fact and cried.
