I have heard rumors that the VR30 motor has reliability issues and that it isn’t uncommon for the first owner to use the power train warranty for an engine replacement after 40,000 miles. Can anyone confirm if the engine is worth it when it’s out of warranty?
Here is what you didn't take into consideration when quoting those figures, the HP/TQ output in a manual vs an auto. The known numbers are from an auto trans. That 7sp auto trans isn't the most efficient either and it's am auto. So the car might very well be able to put down at least 900hp or higher
I believe Nissan is tweaking the VR30 to put out way more power than advertised in the Z. Borrowing the same method of the German automakers. Why else would they take so long to release it? They’re making sure the Z outguns the Supra.
The VR30DDTT is already underrated in the Q50/Q60 with it's 7-speed automatic. With a 6-speed manual, it should produce more power because of less drivetrain losses. We'll see if Nissan gives the Z larger turbos to distinguish it from the Q50/Q60.
@@rezanassib7126 Probably just a theoretical 5-10hp from a Nismo exhaust. The VR30DDTT is pretty maxed out stock if it uses the same turbos as the Q60.

I can live with it. I never was in love with the CHROME headlights on the 370z, but over time, Jim, as vehicles around become uglier, the Z seems to age/grow with class because of it's simplicity. It's truly like a breath of fresh air on the road because all of these BETA males have bought SUV's/CUV's, so the Z just sticks out in a good way.
I’m alright with it. It looks pretty good in person I think. Also it’s a Z so it will probably have a lot of aftermarket body support and different bumpers.
Nismo is typically just suspension, body kit, wheels, interior and exhaust. The extra power increase may come from the exhaust and a slight increase in boost. Yes, it's probably going to be similar.

Stillen and AMS rebuilt the Q50 Red Sport, and the crank is cheap and cracks with over 500hp. So you can only add 100hp and then you got to rebuild the engine with a stroker kit to produce 500-800hp. Stillen built a 700hp Q50 and AMS built a 800hp engine. Research their builds. And the intercoolers are NOT water cooled. Water cooled has a seperate water reservor and electric water pump, and you can put ICE in the reservor. No, this Z has hot radiator coolant circulating threw these hot intercoolers that is close to 200deg temp. These stock intercoolers are trash. So 98% will not have over 500hp on their new Z, unless you're a mechanic that owns a Z. You need a car lift to drop that engine. Engine has to be removed to upgrade turbos on all Z cars.

I’m happy with 700 hp. Goooo z
Do you think the new Z will be tall people friendly? Like can someone 6'6" fit in there comfortably?
If you can fit in a 370Z, then it'll be similar since they're using the same chassis.
@@GTContent Dang I guess that means I'll have to stick to Muscle Cars then lol.
@@RaceCarFriends 😂
@@RaceCarFriends Just drive big trucks and SUVs, bro. 🙀🤣
@@Asiansxsymbol That's what the wife keeps telling me but I'm determined to fit into these small sports cars lol.
Twin 2.5" exhausts is more than enough.
Man It only took about 7k to get my v6 mustang up to 600rwhp. I'm still getting the z though it was my dream car since I was a kid
It should definitely be forbidden to say something like "negative gains"! It's a loss... just call it a loss.
Thanks for the video! Very informative. I'm looking to install turbo in my 07 Acura tsx. Can u recommend a good shop for that build?
Here is what you didn't take into consideration when quoting those figures, the HP/TQ output in a manual vs an auto. The known numbers are from an auto trans. That 7sp auto trans isn't the most efficient either and it's am auto. So the car might very well be able to put down at least 900hp or higher
I did. Go back and listen closely. 😉

Now that the specs are out and the supra spanked the Z in a 1/4 mi drag race, i guess nissan cheapened out.
how bout mazda 2021 2.5l turbo?
I’ll just stick with my $5k in mods for my b58 for 600whp. Too much work and money for high power vr30.
enjoyed the vid.
curious what a dollar for dollar comparison for modding the zupr4 vs the z and the hp output...that may be a good video
The comparison is in the works.
I have already made one for the Supra B58: ruclips.net/video/bMEkhLdC0N8/видео.html
Great video. What would Nismo do with the Z?
Probably the same thing they've done in the past...Bodykit, suspension, interior pieces, wheels & catback.
@@GTContent Would the Nismo version potentially get any HP increase?
@@rezanassib7126 Probably just a theoretical 5-10hp from a Nismo exhaust. The VR30DDTT is pretty maxed out stock if it uses the same turbos as the Q60.
Will Jim Wolf ever tune ECU’s again LMAO
😝😂
I can't get passed the front. I just looks way too plain and I hate the headlights. I would have considered it if the front looked as good as the rear.
How much would 7:00 make with e100?
A twin disk will not be required to handle 600whp lol. Fresh kicks is on a Stage 3 6 puck pushing around 800whp on his Z
Lol! I think 400hp should be more than adequate unless you are into drag race competitions.
I want the z 2023 model so bad
Wont be doing downpipes in California anymore. Rest of the country not far behind unfortunately.
Real numbers being told here. That car will cost $50,000 minimum to get it out the showroom door.
Z🔥👍
U think it will be the same if they come out with a nismo version
Nismo is typically just suspension, body kit, wheels, interior and exhaust. The extra power increase may come from the exhaust and a slight increase in boost.
Yes, it's probably going to be similar.
This video was so amazing and informative but so Unuseful I could barely afford the z any more is out of my tax bracket 😂😂
i think AMS also makes an intake manifold for this engine
Yes. AMS makes an air intake kit, but at ~$600, the performance/dollar isn't worth the small gains
I think I'd be happy with stock as a daily car
When I see the 400z I see a car that just begs to be modded . That’s why I’m so hyped for it
For 97% of my driving it might be ok but downpipes, cbe, tune, heat exchangers not only gives insane dollar to hp gain ratio but also that nice drop in underhood temps, better exhaust note and
I'd be more than happy with 550 hp.
Love the back of the car but not liking the headlights. They should have went retro
I think this is a decent compromise assuming they can't use a more retro headlights for some reason.
Well if you add up the amount of money you just said would it wiser to buy a Corvette?
buy a corvette and using another part of the money to upgrade the car, same stuffs, besides, where's the fun in that? tuning is also a hobby so yea
@@rymeliawatson9509 if you purely want to tune a car that wont be the car. buying a brand to car just to tune that a naaaa. buying a older car to tune is more worth your money. its about money vs HP that what i see when tuning. unless u have ton of money then that dont matter what you get.
@@not4younot4you70 my point still stands. buying corvette and spend more money to tune it it's gonna be roughly the same, and the vette is roughly the same, maybe having a bit more hp than the Z depends on the model
@@rymeliawatson9509 only a fool will buy a brand new car for tuning to get to 600hp lol. buy a K motor and tune it get more then 600hp. lose all warranty if something happen to the motor or transmission bla bla bla. Like i said only rich MF can do that. normal people will only buy what they can afford.
@@not4younot4you70 isn't that what the tuners these days are? spending money on a car to make it faster? it's how THEY want not you, anything can be fast if there's money for it, same goes for these new cars, or old shitboxes, so your point once again, useless
The headlights look like the BRZ headlights.
The transmission will definitely be leagues better than the 7speed
Engine cc is slightly bigger than the red sport’s.
Yeah of course my dude, 400 hp wasn't already dangerous enough in Canadian winters 😂
I don't care about HP, max tq at 1800 rpm is all I need! it's the perfect basis for my new streetable drift car! Straightline speed is for fools on the street
I have a q50 redsport and I can't imagine my car being 500 lbs lighter it already flys.
So much money to barely go anywhere 😭😮💨
Wooow I can’t wait to a new Z 😀. … actually I’m a Supra fan but it an bmw 🙁
I cant get the idea to swap a VR38DETT into the new Z.... But at that point why not just get a GTR...🤣
I’m having a hard time between tlx type s or this Z. Of course GTR but that’s to rich for my blood. They are both great looking cars but I just want something pure Japanese.
Two different cars and purposes. There's also a $10-15k price difference. The Z is a sportscar while the TLX is a sport sedan. Performance should be better with the Z.
@@GTContent My buddy just picked up a 2021 GTR. That thing is sweet. I don’t want a American car. I wish the Japanese would do something to rival the mustang 5.0 and all the American cars I hate at a affordable cost. GTR or NSX out of the price range. That’s why I ride, 10s all day no mods for less than a super car but not the same feeling as having a badass car.
I love the TLX type s but I want a pure sports car from Japan. I wrench on my own cars. I’m not scared to take motors out of any these cars. I have a 2000 integra gsr I’m keeping that car forever, it just has a special place in my heart. I wish when they brought that new integra out they would have retro the 90 classic.
The upper "downpipe" is called turbo elbow
UR MOM ELBOW. How's that?
This video doesn't mention anything about labor cost. The average car enthusiast ends up paying for labor.
Labor costs will vary, hence the + after the estimated part price. Best method is to call your local shop and find out or DIY.
@@GTContent The best method would be to buy a Tesla Plaid and call it a day xD
😂
There were rumours early on that the 9 speed was a merc gearbox. Have we had any confirmation on it?
Not sure about Mercedes, but Jatco manufactures it.
@@GTContent It's going to be JATCO again.... so it lets hope they fixed the flexdisk as the main failure points. Also, on the 6-speed, I'm hoping Nissan has fixed the CSC issue that nearly ever 6-Speed owner has had to deal with.
Come on! Who expects any 3 liter 6 cylinder engine to make 1000hp without internal engine mods? Lol. Bottom line is,to get more power and go faster, theres no way around it, money is what it takes. Its basically how much you can spend.
You'd be surprised 🤓
@@GTContent not even a RB or 2jz is going to last long at 1000hp with the factory stock internals. 1000hp with the stock internals is sketchy even for the VR38.
@@conradsealy9603 I agree. There's sometimes a stigma that goes with an engine that it is untouchable. Of course, it's mostly not the case, that is why we have to bring it to light.
I'm surprised that it only costs $13K to make a 800 bhp car. I always thought it was more. 😎
700+ is not realistic without solid deck block or sleeves, etc and a whole lot of supporting mods. Basically tons of money. Just stick to the 500 zone and be done with it, u want something faster buy something with a solid deck block or a Tesla. The cost when you factor in all the extras means you could of just bought one of those platforms instead. It was about 35k in parts and ‘some’ labor to get my 350z to hit 1004 whp but it still needed more supporting mods for more stability and tons more money. ruclips.net/video/8vnHdrOs-34/видео.html sure it was fun but I played that open deck block game and wouldn’t recommend it.
I agree. Thanks for your insight.
@@GTContent np, easily one of the best no bs let’s look at the costs and parts/mods vids out there. Having done the journey I can’t say I wouldn’t rather just buy a new Tesla and run 9’s while also auto piloting my ass back home while troll posting on my350z 🤣

Minimum 3" exhaust? Really?
Minimum 3" = Get an exhaust thats is 3" or larger.

Might need a a bigger tire with the smallest wheel that will still accommodate the factory rear brakes in the upper hp range if you choose to go to the drag strip
It’s not necessary… I’ve seen low 9 seconds cars on 19s and 20s pulling 1.5 60ft 🤣 the tires available in this day and age is absolutely ridiculous
