How to style a striped breton top, the gift that keeps on giving! So it's with great pleasure I'm sharing today's video with my 10 different ways to wear it. And what better way to celebrate Valentine's Day than with something that's been loved for over 100 years:)

My fav is the tan sweater tied over the shoulders
I have tons of striped tops. Some are wider stripes but they are definitely navy inspired. I think one could wear a polo neck or a button down underneath it. I have a red button down. I'd like to have this Sezane top. They have have a new release that is full of full on saturated colors like blue and green. I just wish they were not as expensive.
Hi Denisa, sounds like a girl after my own heart on the stripe front!! If Sezane is a little out of budget there's a great website called Vestiare Collective that essentially sells second hand pieces. But they tend to feature some really nice brands, high end designers and then some of the higher end of the high street too. I've seen quite a lot of Sezane on there and it pretty much works out half price. Definitely worth a peek:) x

Been a big Breton top fan in my 20's and my Saint James ones were a staple in my closet...until my late 30's when I felt like I don't gravitate towards them anymore (I have since passed them on to my 9-year-old daughter). Loved wearing them slightly oversized, semi-tucked in light wash 501 jeans and paired with yellow pumps. 😊
I’m laughing, Jess, because once again, I like all the outfits!! But I think the one with the tan jumper round you shoulders, and the bag, belt and shoes in similar tan/caramel tones is the one I love the most! It’s one I’ll try to reproduce myself. 💕

I just discovered your channel and I'm hooked! Your content is amazing! Thank you so much for including this more casual outfit, with that deep khaki jacket. I'm a mom of a 2-year-old, I work from home, live outside of the city in a more rural area and I rarely have a chance or need to wear elegant or elevated/chic outfits. But I also don't want to look sloppy. So a put-together, yet casual outfit is my go to for after work walks with my kid or running errands. Thank you! Love from Poland!
I have a collection of tops from St. James made here in Normandy and wear them constantly. Remember to wash them in water no hotter than 30 C or they will shrink.They also come in wool, which is lovely and cozy for winter.
The dark blazer, black cigarette pants and heels is amazing, especially with your hair half tied back. I also love your outfit with the pink Sezane jacket. lovely although right now I'd pair it with boots as it's freezing cold here!

One of your outfits inspired me to try a new combination using my striped top worn underneath my burnt orange long sleeve suede button up shirt which I just found in my closet after forgetting I had it! I have so many if these style of tops button down,tshirt and the longer sleeve type. I love styling them w/navy,beige,black and white. Loved the bit of history and styling tips gorgeous. Loved all the pairings,no surprise. I especially loved the deep khaki jacket pairings. I hv a lot of that colour in my wardrobe and cant wait to try it. Thank you

A few of my favourites are the layered look with the different shades of pink; the camel Gaspard sweater knotted over the shoulders, adding a pop of colour (love the Everlane red flats) and the looks combined with khaki, navy and camel. I love all your videos, Jess, thanks. Some fashion YTers are saying that they are tired of Breton tops, but I have always had several in my wardrobe for 40 years. They are just so classic and always fresh-looking, I’m a huge fan. My favorite of your looks here is with the tan sweater and accessories, gorgeous, casual but polished. I would love US links for alternates to Sezane pieces, this brand doesn’t fit most American women, thank you.

The pairing with the camel coat and roomy trousers is very Lauren Hutton-ish. And I do love the Loden green Cadet-style jacket with it. I brought a red and white striped Breton with me on a European dance tour years ago and spontaneously paired it with an ankle length red and Tuscan gold floral skirt. I ended up loving that look, even layered with a cropped distressed denim vest. Also love a Breton beneath a partially unbuttoned Black Stewart tartan shirt, tied in a knot at the waist. Perhaps with an ankle length pencil skirt.

Hi Julianne, I'm so glad you liked the video:) They're just so wearable aren't they, I don't ever mind investing in another breton as I know it'll get a lot of wear! Re my skincare, funnily enough I've filmed a new video on that which will be out in a couple of weeks:) But yes, I'm still using the Dior products. I've found they've made such a difference to the overall appearance of my skin. I was looking a bit grey and flat if that makes sense? But they've given me more of a glow. Thanks so much for watching:) I went for the blue & white in a small (I'm usually a UK10) which I'd say is a perfect fit and then i bought the red & white version in a medium so I can have a more relaxed fit too. I personally prefer the relaxed fit but I think that's just personal taste as they're true to size. I hope that helps x

Excellent outfit ideas. I enjoy a Breton top and would like to find one with a jewel neckline which is more form fitting to the neck than the crew neck. Any ideas? Which sezane stripped top would you recommend? Recommend mostly for summer/spring or fall/winter? I’m so torn between sezane’s Paxton tee shirt, the Colette & the Leontine button sweater!! For a timeline capsule piece?
Hi Jen, thanks so much for getting in touch. And that is a hard question as I love them all! I'm sat wearing the Leontine now funnily enough! I think it depends on where you live, what your climates like etc. With the Leontine for example I find I reach for that year round whereas the Paxton is a great shape but probably only best for Spring Summer. I do wear the Colette so much too but in Winter it's not quite warm enough alone so I tend to layer a cardigan over the top. From a fabric point of view they're all very similar having been made from cotton and they all wash brilliantly too. I'm trying to help and I fear I may have confused you more haha, sorry! But all three are hugely wearable it just depends how warm it gets where you are:) x
