I’m honestly starting to get the impression that being a French woman means putting 100% of your energy into being the sexiest woman in the room but then pretending you don’t try at all

I've traveled the world and the most demanding, sexiest woman I've ever met was a Parisian woman I befriended. She was in a bar of 30 strangers and everyone watched her while she spoke. There was nothing particularly "more" of her than anyone else, nor did she show off her body, but she was just magnetic. It was brilliant to witness.

I love what Camielle said about french girls finding what suits them, their body, and what they like and dressing according to that. Not following trends but buying staple pieces that will fit your wardrobe and last a long time. I really love that. Fast fashion has ruined our sense of style. Some people only buy a piece because it's "trendy" then the trend passes and they forget about that item and throw it out and the cycle continues with the next trend...

Because Americans are mentally a commune society, even they claim that they despise communism - they go by trends and groups, they think alike, follow influencers, and most importantly, they have to share everything they know, and if they are lucky, they will make some profit from it. French people, on the other hand, are individualistic; they want to figure out by themselves who they are and live their life accordingly and keep this acquired knowledge to themselves. Hence, they are mysterious, like a puzzle you want to solve :)

You can just relax on the couch and replace the button, or move them over a bit to tighten or loosen a gaping blouse, for example. There are some shoe repairs you can make, put on a new sole or heel tips, for example. You are not helpless!!!

I’m proud to say I don’t watch the Kardashian’s. Don’t know one from another. I’m 73 and wear some mascara and lip tint when doing errands and more when going out to dinner. I have balance issues so L wear mostly flats ( my gorgeous heels are retired... sigh). Flawless skin is overrated! The women look fake. I’ve had great times in my life and awful times. I’m not bothered if my face reflects those times. And the sun spots? I had great fun at the Texas Coast in college and then with my family getting those spots! I pray nothing more becomes of them. We didn’t know back then what they could lead to. I’m pleased with my face and my silver hair. I could lose some weight... but I’m having a love affair with ice cream right now...sigh. It’s my one vice. Lol Needless to say, the ONLY doll I look like is the old Russian babushka doll I had as a child; t I’m cuter! Lol😉

I am so tired of this idea of the French Girl. What you are talking about is the white, skinny, model-like type of Parisian that is in no way common in France apart from a few streets in Paris. Truth is, France is diverse, the average woman is not a size 0 and French society is advanced enough so that women don't spend their whole life wondering whether their clothes please men. I understand that this vision feeds some sort of vision or fantasy of France, but please look around you when you visit, take the subway or even better get out of Paris

They’re like village/ small town people anywhere else, comfortable and have their own style, and certainly never trend led. I’d even go so far as to say our Parisian friends and their family the same, more French practical and French brand led in their style..maybe on you tube, Instagram and propelled by such ladies as Camille, Jeanne Damas, etc etc, but such “French style” is as curated and contrived as the designers and brands that sell these such “ French” style clothing eg zadig Voltaire, the kooples, etc etc...don’t get me wrong, I love the style, rather sophisticated and classy, yet sexy looking, but it is not “our” France! Not by a long stretch,

Cheap brands like fashion nova, forever 21, and other fast fashion brands do an amazing job at making you feel insecure, so you’ll buy their clothes. Their models are of outrageous proportions. The thing with their stuff is that it’s trash that falls apart quickly. You can buy cheap clothes all you want, but the amount of money you’ll spend replacing those items over and over again, is probably more than buying a timeless, high quality piece once. It’s also way better for the environment.

I LOVE the basket thing, having something personal to you rather than being about brand names. My favorite pieces are always something personal and unique, maybe from a small boutique or something I've altered myself to fit my own personal style. Plus most of the time, you're paying extra hard-earned $ for a brand name, and half the time it's not even a quality product! There is so much competition in dressing for brands as well--having personal, unique items celebrates you and shows a part of you to the world, and that's what fashion is all about in my opinion!

It’s actually ride in French history - after dabbeling in multiculturalism, in the late 20th century, the government began to codify homogeny above all - see the burka, burkini laws. Racism is emblematic of of the legalized xenophobia. It’s actually quite sad because France was considered enlightened about race at the turn of the last century and a refuge for Black artists from the States like James Baldwin.

Personally, I find the glorification of French style in the West is getting a bit tedious now. I understand the appeal to its casualness and the desire to look effortless. But this style itself is overdone. Levi’s, stripes, blazer, heeled boot, tiny bag, repeat. It’s like they’re trying so hard to be different that they end up looking the same and somewhat basic in their own way. Again, this is just my opinion. I’m far more interested in truly individual style especially of those who don’t feel the need to fit into a particular category of dressing. I was kind of hoping this channel would explore more of that than Alexa being dressed in a French caricature waving a baguette.
But hey, it made me giggle and I’ll still keep watching regardless. :)

This video is so cliche tho...I am French and I can tell this is quite far from what French women wear
      nowadays...

Watch Camille Rowe she wears a bit of everything...bohemian, classic, vintage, ethnic her closet is a bit like mine...prints and basics...of course, I don't have as many designer stuff or stuff in general

Great comment. Isn’t it also slightly ironic that Levi’s is American?

    • @studiocelestedesign
      @studiocelestedesign 5 лет назад +17

@@diamondsgal76 No but that's the thing about the French; they are mortified by much of America but they are secretly fascinated by a few American things, like NYC, the clothing brands and the romance of Route 66 or the open road trips. They find these to be exotic and cool but would never come out straight to say it.

I live in Paris, it's not common for women to wear revealing clothes. French women avoid anything that shows too much skin.

@@kenneseyl2819 in moderation, but no ultra tight fitting clothes and overly revealing cleavage or very short shorts (when I see those, it's usually tourists). Arms are fine and you also see skirt with black tights in the colder months. Strapless shirts aren't common.
