This makes me happy as to how similar my routine is to hers. I just use a lot more concealer because of my acne so now the next goal is to get clear skin and bring down the concealer usage!
Aloe Vera - the plant,it has to be really natural, not some product with aloe Vera- works wonders! I have eczema, which is worst, and it heals me! Good luck! :D

A few ppl are talking about the fact that she says she "knows nothing about makeup" but is quite skilled at it in this video - she's just being humble in my opinion? and she doesn't say she knows NOTHING about makeup - she says she's a beginner. The "french girl" trend has gotten at lot of hate, but what I like about it is that there is a focus on being your best self: makeup that naturally enhances what you already have, so you don't have to apply a lot of makeup to compensate - putting on makeup, EVEN if you're just going to the grocery store, which I find shows that you have respect for yourself and don't wanna let yourself go - finding YOUR style and what suits YOUR body type best - reading books, listening to music and watching movies to stay culturally "refreshed" - but most of all, I love this trend, because french women like imperfections - I'm not talking Jeanne Damas, but for example with Caroline de Maigret who embraced her large nose or Vanessa Paradis who loves her gap teeth - they INSPIRE women to love what they've been given and make the best of it! Just thought I'd throw that out there in this comment section, since there's a lot of negativity in here.

Many makeup products can be used with hands, brushes, or sponges. You don't need to buy as much as you think you do. Real techniques and ELF make really good affordable brushes if you need some. Don't buy into the selling brands and influencers will give you though, you don't need powder all the time, spray, curlers, all those different brow and lip lining stuff is unnecessary. For affordable makeup, I think K beauty is worth the price and Neutrogena. They don't give me allergic reactions 😅
Most makeup can really be done with clean hands/fingers and much like she’s doing, a great lipstick palette can double as a blush. Don’t let beauty bloggers with access to thousands of dollars worth of tools or accessories make you think you cant play with color on your face!
I wonder if French girls are tired of seeing the "French girl makeup" look, with being natural and imperfect It's easy for people like Jeanne to say imperfections are cute when you have none.
I live in paris and most girls and women actually wear this kind of minimal makeup even if they have acne or sth you don’t really see them piling on foundation
Megan Hughes It’s the kind of makeup up vibe here. It’s cliché but most of us (including me) like a fresh makeup look like she did even tho we have imperfections. But not all french girls like this, some like a more full coverage routine

And this girl's career relies on that, like she did her hair and had lipstick on before this video, plus she KNOWS how to apply makeup or else would not have laid down a pristigious makeup internship. She however, would rather pretend she knows nothing about makeup application, that she eats pasteries and remains thin, that she looks perfect but embraces imperfections, that shes a chill natural girl while she has a full facade prepared.

Noufling there’s another video of here on British Vogue where she basically puts other women’s styles (more makeup, contouring etc) down in order for hers to seem cooler and more effortlessly chic. Yet she’s still puts in quite a good amount of effort for it to look like she doesn’t put any effort in. It’s basically like all those cringy “I’m not like other girls” memes.
I'm not even a very makey-uppey person but I swear I come back to this video at least once a month just because I find Jeanne and the way she grooms so mesmerizing...
Yeah, eating a croissant in the bathroom (idk if it at her place or at a hotel) and then dipping/re-dipping your fingers into product that goes on your lips and cheeks. The idea of a bit of food someone has eaten in a bathroom getting into a product meant for lips and cheeks is kind of gross... Lol but to each his/her own!
This is so inspiring for me as a beginner to makeup. I was literally thinking of buying a ton of makeup to start with but now I see you don’t necessarily need much. I love using my hands too but I feel odd seeing no one else on the internet do it. This was really refreshing to watch
I love this light makeup routine, its so simple and I also love the effect of still being able to see the natural skin underneath the makeup a bit, otherwise it just feels like I've painted my face off and reapplied it lol
@Vero Na It depends on the type of skin when it comes to coconut oil, as well as the amount. For some, it clogs pores if they put too much. A little coconut oil helps my skin. I don't know about Jeanne Damas's skin type, though.
this video really embodies the whole french girl nonsense because here's this professional model going - I embrace my imperfections while mainting a perfect body and an extensive skincare routine - I had a makeup internship at ysl but don't know how to do makeup - I only put on blush and concealer * proceeds to do a full face of highlighter bronzer etc * - ooh la la lazy french girl * so insecure starts off a makeup tutorial with makeup already on and hair done * vogue get out of here we're tired
She's stunning. I love this simple makeup routine. Here in Arizona, girls wear a pound of makeup. It's so overdone. Even I'm guilty of this now. This is so much more natural and beautiful than what a lot of American girls do. Thank you!
I really love this. I def range more on the side of minimal makeup with a heavy skin care routine. Being in the US, the trend is definitely makeup heavy and I get this feeling like I HAVE to do a full face of makeup in order to look nice. This, along with Candice Swanpoel's video really helped embrace my more natural look.
the pronunciation of some words she uses is just the same in Turkish such as Makyaj(Maquillage), Ruj(Rouge), Dekolte (Décolleté), i love it when i hear familiar words in different languages ahahdh
I love this! It's the exact same routine I do every morning (just different products) and it's refreshing to see this kind of light, "à la française" makeup on RUclips. However please don't put coconut oil on your face!! It'll clog your pores because it's comedogenic! Use jojoba oil or something similar but not coconut! That one is better for the hair.
islandhorsetaker coconut oil isn't good for the hair either, it's too big to enter hair strands and definitely shouldn't be applied to the scalp. And to be fair, it works nicely on very dry skin with no breakout tendencies (though there are still better oils out there).
@- - yes, as in not heavy coverage cake-y foundation and tons of powder baked on... Baking is a stage makeup technique, and using it in your daily routine makes your makeup look heavy. This kind of makeup isn't like that, thus I call it light..
Finally someone else that shares my- 'I'm too lazy and can't get it off so I don't wear mascara EVER (nor do I own it)' philosophy! Long live the eyelash curler!
And then releases a makeup line. 🙄Also distinctly remember reading an interview waaay back that Beyoncé didn't wear fragrance as she was allergic/sensitive, then not that long after released a fragrance in her name. Short-term memory loss seems to be prevalent among both celebs/influencers and their fans at least...
Thom Yorke Dance Guide I’m learning through French Revolution website and a friend of mine has been helping me. I also found a couple of great videos on RUclips (very well in depth explanation and easy to follow). Do you have any suggestions for me?
Vibha B Oh, I was just curious! I do know that Babble is the best language learning software (I studied linguistics and did research on it). So maybe look into it, but it sounds like you have a nice routine. I wish you luck!
@@vibhab191 8 languages ? ohhhh impressive ! I am French, can speak English actually quite well which I am grateful for, I can speak a little bit of Spanish but this is all. I wish I could speak well another language but it is just so difficult to do
When you have naturally dark and perfect brows, when you naturally have long and dark eyelashes, when your skin hasn't spots or imperfection, when you have naturally full lips, well...make up can be very natural. If I want to be 'naturally' beautiful, I've got to full my eyebrows a little (I'm asking where are her 'holes'), put mascara because my eyelashes are blonde and you don't see them, a veil of foundation, a blush, concealer and a natural berry lipstick on my thin lips. So I think that your makeup dipends on what are your strong points. There are girls that even if they have got her same strong points, they love to wear a lot of foundation, a lot of contouring, because they think that in this way they are more beautiful. French idea of beauty is natural, just that little bit that makes you Better. I like this philosophy, because I think that make up must improve your natural beauty without be another Person, but if you want to be something different, make up can do that. I really love the idea of make up of Lisa Eldridge.
Simonetta Pettene she already had some makeup on and has obviously groomed brows. yes she is very pretty but she was understating a lot. she has a brand to sell
To be fair, she probably has microblading, she definitely had her hair done prior, she's definitely wearing lipstick, and perhaps even concealers.. There's nothing wrong with that, but there is some immorality to making a makeup tutorial and selling this idea of casual perfection and hiding perfectly normal and human qualities to make yourself look like an ethereal perfect no-effort goddess.
It’s almost like she’s teasing the rest of us with her ‘casual perfection’. If my skin was flawless instead of having blotches of hyperpigmentation, acne scars and birthmarks I’d be leaving the house with a dab of only concealer and lipstick too but alas, a full face of foundation every single day it is otherwise I look seriously ill. 😒
Ane T yeah kinda get what you mean. You can achieve good skin too by trying cutting out sugar, junk food, carbs etc out of your diet and eat lots of fruits and veggies. But of course good genes play an important role as well here
I dont get it why so many French women on this post feel offended by her video. That s her brand image - Rouge is about French, minimalist, effortless beauty. She plays sometimes with the cliche of the Parisian girl as so many before did - Sabina Socol as well. But I love the fact they promote a imperfect no so perfect makeup. Or the fact that you can look hot with wrap dress or just a jean and t shirt with a straw bag. I see nothing wrong with that image at all :)
This is what French Makeup consists of - Red lipstick - Lip balm - Eyebrow brush - Conceler - Mascara - Eyelash curler - Highlighter Are all in my makeup bag
For everyone who believes that this natural make up is just so “culturally French” and not “vulgar” like Americans, realize you’ve all been duped by a huge marketing tactic.
calling women "vulgar" over their makeup choices sounds just awful to me tbh, like, just put whatever you want on your face and go, stop judging others
im not even french i do my makeup the same way she does. why is it a big deal when women wear or show that it's possible to wear thin makeup and still look great????
lmao what ? chill dude the woman is just naturally pretty and doesn’t need a lot of makeup and that’s literally how most french ladies do their makeup. they prefer it to look natural so what exactly is ur problem lol its very chic and classic . vulgar ?? lol
It is a very effective marketing tactic, but I think many of us know that not all French women look like this nor do their makeup exactly the same way. Regardless, we're still drawn to this kind of look and attitude (whether real or cultivated by French women on social media), and want to emulate it, which is totally fine.
Alors ça fait 33 ans que je suis la parisienne bien clichée. Parce que tous ces clichés ne viennent pas de n’importe où. @Kitsuke France of course there are some differences, but in terms of makeup and style, not really since most of the time we have access to same clothing brands, media etc. because of globalization, mostly in West and Central Europe . Yet she’s still puts in quite a good amount of effort for it to look like she doesn’t put any effort in. It’s basically like all those cringy “I’m not like other girls” memes.
"the concealer is really the only thing that i apply to my face" *says while applying highlighter, blush, bronzer and powder
lilian she said that she only applies other product to go out at night... pff 🙄
She literally says "other than blush" after that
New cliché : French girls have their coffee + croissant in their bathroom while doing their "no make up look" for thirty minutes 😂 Merci Jeanne
I'm not even a very makey-uppey person but I swear I come back to this video at least once a month just because I find Jeanne and the way she grooms so mesmerizing...
so shes gonna let the croissant touch the bathroom air
Thelma Ghinaya lmao
I mean you're already breathing in the bathroom air
is ur bathroom really that grotty
IT honestly grosses me out to see these videos where people eat in the bathroom. Completely unheard of in my culture.
For the love of the goddess, do a Beauty Secrets w Dita Von Teese!
She already has some of those, just do a search
dita has some videos out there but she seems kinda secretive with some stuff
Exactly!!!!! The rial diva she is
Wait.. that's her without makeup?! Her skin is literally perfect.
This is so inspiring for me as a beginner to makeup. I was literally thinking of buying a ton of makeup to start with but now I see you don’t necessarily need much. I love using my hands too but I feel odd seeing no one else on the internet do it. This was really refreshing to watch
Enfin une française sur vogue !!! Trop bien ça fait trop plaisir !!
#France🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷
*She came out with her own makeup line, it’s really beautiful and sophisticated! She runs a clothing line as well, everything is super chic!* ♥️💄♥️
I love this light makeup routine, its so simple and I also love the effect of still being able to see the natural skin underneath the makeup a bit, otherwise it just feels like I've painted my face off and reapplied it lol
Is she really eating a croissant in her bathroom? Easy gurl, you are french enough without the french bakery.
Yuelin Jiang lol
😃
croissant laced with fecal matter. That was gross..
Lol Im doing exactly the same with drinking coffee while putting ma makeup on 😂
Yuelin Jiang in fact for us in france croissants are a very common breakfast with coffee 😅 it may be very cliché, but it’s a fact 😂
I think she’s lovely. I love the simplicity of her approach. I like how she embraces imperfections and aims for looking her best regardless
When I went to Paris, I saw her in a shop. Her beauty really isn't completely captured by camera. She's gorgeous.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE JEANNE DAMAS MAKEUP STYLE! It’s all about bold lipstick and imperfection! Just like Violette but I like Jeanne a bit better!
God she’s gorgeous! ❤️ Skincare & a French beauty, perfect match, they know their stuff
I love Jeanne, but the fact that she didn't put away her bangs when putting oil on her face made me cringe
Both that and running the oil over the necklace 😭😭
@Vero Na It depends on the type of skin when it comes to coconut oil, as well as the amount. For some, it clogs pores if they put too much. A little coconut oil helps my skin. I don't know about Jeanne Damas's skin type, though.
Yeah, the oil sticking in the bangs could very well be causing the forehead breakout.
And she didn't take off her rings either, I was like "girl, that's not hygienic"
Who is she? A model? An actress? I looked her up and found nothing. Just that she has followers in Insta, but it's just pictures of her...posing?
this video really embodies the whole french girl nonsense because here's this professional model going
- I embrace my imperfections while mainting a perfect body and an extensive skincare routine
- I had a makeup internship at ysl but don't know how to do makeup
- I only put on blush and concealer * proceeds to do a full face of highlighter bronzer etc *
- ooh la la lazy french girl * so insecure starts off a makeup tutorial with makeup already on and hair done *

Thank you to Jeanne Damas for sharing her makeup routine. I like how she uses the lipstick for cheeks and eyes. Whole look is so fresh.
Love this! Self love, instead of hiding imperfections she focuses on enhancing what's beautiful with her face! People should think like this!
It's easy when you are young. There's nothing to lift or cover. Her brows that she thinks have some bald spots, have none.

the pronunciation of some words she uses is just the same in Turkish such as Makyaj(Maquillage), Ruj(Rouge), Dekolte (Décolleté), i love it when i hear familiar words in different languages ahahdh
yeah, there are a LOT of French words that are very similar to Turkish words.
Özge Solmaz
Yes but the origin of these words is french.
Rouge means red in french for example
Russian too 😄
"I like imperfections here and there."
**Proceeds to touch super perfect eyebrows** 😂
NOW THIS IS NATURAL MAKEUP this is the best edvice iv gotten about makeup on the internet
This is a super model, with no skin issues tutorial, not a lazy french girl tutorial.
And to be fair, it works nicely on very dry skin with no breakout tendencies (though there are still better oils out there).
it depends on your skin, coconut oil got me rid of my skin problems
@- - yes, as in not heavy coverage cake-y foundation and tons of powder baked on... Baking is a stage makeup technique, and using it in your daily routine makes your makeup look heavy. This kind of makeup isn't like that, thus I call it light..
Jojoba oil still has 2 on the comedogenic spectrum it can clog you too. Argan oil is the way
Finally someone else that shares my- 'I'm too lazy and can't get it off so I don't wear mascara EVER (nor do I own it)' philosophy! Long live the eyelash curler!
If you ever feel like trying it, don't know if you've heard of this, but tubing mascara comes off with tubes and warm water.
I love how she pretends she can’t do makeup. Really cultivating that “lazy French girl” persona.
So annoying lol
When did she pretend she couldn't do makeup? Didn't she say that she did makeup on her family and even as a intern?
Love the French approach to skin, makeup, life ♡
I could listen to this woman forever, she has beautiful skin too
*_I have started learning French and she is one of the reasons behind it_*

Thom Yorke Dance Guide I’m learning through French Revolution website and a friend of mine has been helping me. I also found a couple of great videos on RUclips (very well in depth explanation and easy to follow). Do you have any suggestions for me?

Finally a parisian girl make up tutorial!!!
@01 .04 oohh maybe parisian beauty is not your cup of tea
Yessss i love jeanne damas, so happy to see her on here! her look is always effortlessly on point which is what i aspire to.
Totally agree more less will improve your natural beauty
Still she is hardly beautiful to me.
Simo well said. She's naturally gifted.
My thoughts as well! IMO, Glossier in particular is a make up like for women that don't need make up, haha.
I have hyper pigmentation and acne scars, and I just dab a bit of concealer on them in the morning. Looks much more natural
I feel you 🙏🏼
Ane T yeah kinda get what you mean. You can achieve good skin too by trying cutting out sugar, junk food, carbs etc out of your diet and eat lots of fruits and veggies. But of course good genes play an important role as well here
So try to use products to correct your skin. Jeanne damas don't use because she doesn't need. Stop being haters. It's so unnecessary.
Sabina Socol is creating a brand ASK A FRENCH GIRL, the insta's already up.... making money off the favorite cliche in the world of beauty ;)
I agree ! I am French and do not feel offended in any way by this tutorial. I don't see where the problem is really...

Hey, I'm french and I just shared a french girl red lips tuto :) I thought you might like it !
For everyone who believes that this natural make up is just so “culturally French” and not “vulgar” like Americans, realize you’ve all been duped by a huge marketing tactic.
calling women "vulgar" over their makeup choices sounds just awful to me tbh, like, just put whatever you want on your face and go, stop judging others
i dont understand. please explain?
im not even french i do my makeup the same way she does. why is it a big deal when women wear or show that it's possible to wear thin makeup and still look great????
lmao what ? chill dude the woman is just naturally pretty and doesn’t need a lot of makeup and that’s literally how most french ladies do their makeup. they prefer it to look natural so what exactly is ur problem lol its very chic and classic . vulgar ?? lol
It is a very effective marketing tactic, but I think many of us know that not all French women look like this nor do their makeup exactly the same way. Regardless, we're still drawn to this kind of look and attitude (whether real or cultivated by French women on social media), and want to emulate it, which is totally fine.
I luv that she calls herself lazy after all that. I'm the lazy one, I don't wear make-up.
ok and?? so as the other 3945839 ppl youre not special

I thought the whole "French girl" cliché was outdated, apparently not? It's just basic natural makeup, French are just like any other girl
@Nefertiti I'm just speaking as a fellow European girl, I guess French may seem different for americans but it's just a basic style across Europe
@Kitsuke France of course there are some differences, but in terms of makeup and style, not really since most of the time we have access to same clothing brands, media etc. because of globalization, mostly in West and Central Europe . I'm sorry if it offended you, I didn't mean to,of course we aren't all the same, I'm just saying that I wouldn't be able to say whether the person is French or German just by looking at them, if it was more extreme like idk eg. Russian and English then mayyyybe. Sorry if I didn't phrase my words right
