Fun fact. The creator of Popeye was actually was a sailor in real life, and he loved eating spinach. He also voiced Popeye too. That wimpy looking sailor that shown on the clip, was a episode where Popeye killed him, cause he found him annoying.
Well, in that short, Popeye was worried about that guy commiting suicide, but the reason Popeye killed him was because Shorty (yes, the Navy sailor is named Shorty), made Popeye into a laughing stock in front of his girlfriend *on his birthday!*
So popye is just a self insert.😂
Fun fact: the reason why they had an 8-bit style appear (outside of being just a simply cool idea) is due to the fact that Popeye was the reason behind the creation of the game Donkey Kong and, by coincidence, Super Mario.
You see: Shigeru Miyamoto back before Nintendo and the like wanted to create a game with Popeye rescuing Olive from Bluto, but couldn't get the rights and thus had to rework the original game and thus created Donkey Kong and the rest, as they say, is history.
Popeye is THAT iconic.
It's like how Mega Man exists because Capcom never secured the rights to Astro Boy
one of the best finale's of all time, and it came from popeye vs saitama of all matchups.
Sadly, in this episode, Death Battle got a copyright strike, forcing them to remove the end of analysis quotes (Saitama's was, "I guess that takes care of that." and Popeye's was him singing, "I'm Popeye the sailor man!"). From that point on, Death Battle stopped doing end of analysis quotes and stopped playing clips from the combatants' shows to try to avoid future copyright strikes.

The thing is that, even if we took into consideration Saitama's recent feats, he would *still* lose to Popeye because that's just how insurmountable the gap in power between them is.
The former breaks the rules of his own universe quite easily, but Popeye literally never obeyed any to begin with. Which, to be fair, is pretty true to the character.
He was literally erased and him, as nothing, returned after eating Spinach.
Saitama had no chance.

This battle was the most intense to funny one out there that definitely broken the internet with a storm, but it was a very amazing one 😄 so congratulations Ken on winning the DB streak. I can’t wait for next year and more DB on you guys’ channel.

Always remember, classic cartoon physics trump everything.... already knew when they first announced this battle that Popeye would win.
Yup 😂 only way to beat the toon force would be to erase the very concept of the toon force. Only a couple of people are powerful enough to accomplish that though.

Toon Force is the penultimate, if not the, ultimate ability across all media. You can’t kill a Toon, (unless you have The Dip ala Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, but would that would work on every Toon or just temporarily erase them?)

One Punch man is such a good show, at least season 1 was. He worked his butt off to become the strongest, only to lose his hair and become depressed because he no longer has any challenges when fighting.
I knew Popeye would win by a landslide. The ridiculousness of the toon force just can’t be beat. Not to mention the feats of these characters are ridiculous on their own. I also think it’s hilarious when people try to seriously explain how the laws of toon force work.

This battle was very obviously a curbstomp from the moment the participants were revealed.
But it's the only way they could ever do Saitama - one of the most requested characters in the history of Death Battle - until we ever get to see the full extent of his power (if at all). He is at his core a gag character. His entire premise is that he's ridiculously overpowered. The only choice you have is to pin him against another gag character. And Popeye was just a very obvious choice based on their similarities and parallels.
Yeah, it was never a contest - but this is probably one of the only ways a Death Battle with Saitama could have ever been this well received, without copious amounts of nerd rage...

So no lie, this was one of those "wtf" DBs for me but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Nice and intense with some comedy too. It was a great battle and congrats to Ken on winning the DB streak. This was such a fun follow along and loved ya'lls reaction to each battle

To answer your question of what a yottaton is, yottaton is basically a shorter way of saying septillion tons of TNT in versus debating with one yottaton being around the amount of energy needed to destroy a large planet like Jupiter for instance DB often uses this terminology to shorten saying the other word and it is confusing to those who aren't aware of the versus debating lingo.

Two words: 'Toon Force.
Roger Rabbit described it to detective Eddie Valiant (Who Framed Roger Rabbit? movie) as being able to do literally *anything* as long as it was funny. Some examples include Bugs Bunny, Wile E. Coyote (mostly defensive, to survive his own mistakes), & Tom & Jerry, to name just a few.
When Saitama was punched out of the store & landed across the street, he landed in front of "Wimpy's Hamburgers." Wimpy is a friend of Popeye's & he seems to have gotten smart enough to keep himself fed...After all, his primary claim to fame back in the day was to "gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today." He doesn't need to borrow from his friends any more.
Can we take a moment to appreciate that every time the art & animation styles changed, they were literally breaking through into other dimensions?...That takes a lot of *power* ya' know.

As it is said, "Gag character power, or Gag force" is a limited version of Toon Force. The Gag character is a satire, however they do operate within some set rules or there is an in-universe explanation for why they are beyond what their world normally allows. One Punch Man, Arale, and Squirrel Girl at like this, even Deadpool has gone into this before where being a satire allowed them to break the normal restrictions of their world. Toon Force however has only one rule *anything can be done so long as its funny...even if only to the user*. The only restriction Toon Force normally gets is that either A: Its a toon world so everything or almost everything is in on the joke, or B: The user is too unhinged (or other emotional limitation) to focus enough to take serious advantage of this power to utilize it all the time to its full potential. To put it this way in Dragon Ball Super Beerus could have killed Arale with the Hakai, but had he used that on Bugs Bunny, Bugs would have just popped up behind, a giant pencil or other writing tool appear from the sky to draw him back in and then ended qith a quip...I could even see Beerus doing it multiple times only to have a fourth wall break where Bugs appears out of the writing tool of the manga artist while shouting "Stop!, I get it you want me to die. But bub, that's the joke. I'm a toon, I can't die. So uh....*chews carrot*...let me explain how this is supposed to go, I do something funny, he gets upset, he chases me, I mess with him in ever screwier ways, sometimes he wins, mostly I win, the audience gets a good laugh, ha ha hee hee, curtain falls, the end, okay, okay *dives back into the manga*.
On this same note: the sun hit by a puck feat, is...like fifty feet off the ground. Its the "Sun" of he real world, its a toon sun in a toon world, the puck didn't travel through space, it even stayed the same size to the observer. Which is really one of the problems of comparing toons or any fictional character to the real world...they have never been in the real world; their worlds themselves don't obey the same laws of physics as the real world. Courage the Cowardly Dog had a sun that required a light bulb, Many anime and superhero worlds characters ignore thermodynamics, objects and people can hold more energy than entire suns, even more than their universe at times, some have even argued evidence some of these worlds seem more fragile than the real world *Dragon Ball and other anime having apparently very explosive worlds, sometimes objects even exploding in combustive ways from kinetic impacts, Ub so many shows its clear that lasers and lightning don't move at light speed in those worlds as even ordinary people can be seen dodging them, heck even buoyancy is ignored *the show Myth Busters did a food number of episodes based on live shows that tweaked physics as well for the sake of a cool scene. So yeah, finding a neutral ground and trying to scale any of it to the real world is not reasonable and another reason to remember this show is just entertainment as well.

believe it or not.............they LOWBALL'd popeye. he has even more ridicules stuff that he's done. like one time, him and olive were on a haunted ghost ship, filled with asshole ghost who kept beating up popeye but he couldn't even touch them. then he ate some spinich and not only was he able to hit them, he turned them corporeal so that olive could grab them and sew them together to make a giant sail.

Saitama would still loose since... you know... cartoons... but actually what they said in the video of Saitama's powers not being litmitless is not really true. In a fight where he can't win he keeps getting stronger and stronger to the point where he again beats his oponent in one punch so technically he is kind of infinitely stong.

What if Saitama is actually a mutant? Usually mutants have physical or mental trauma that animates their dominant powers. One punch man tore himself on a smaller scale and didn't notice the gradual change based on the small-scale continuous trauma 🤔
toon philms originaly made with the strong argument pepole would like to watch it to escape their reality to something simpler. therefore the cartoons we knew first had as little as possible binded to reality physics and such... since that was the reason most impossible fits didn't had to had explanation nor to audiance or within the storyworld. we watchers learned to bend and accept
appearantly to the level we can compare cartoons for kids with no boundaries with cartoons for abit more adults with abit more rulls... i didnt though it could happend

I know it wouldn't change the battle results, but after this deathbattle more of Saitama's strength was shown when he sneezed off Jupiter's gas to reveal it's core. And when he and a guy he was fighting punched each other so hard, they destroyed several stars and left a empty black void in space where stars used to be.
I think the most important thing from that arc is the confirmation that there isn't a limit to Saitama's strength. He gets as strong as he needs to One punch the enemy in front of him, that's the effect he gained after breaking his limiter.
Then there's the whole mechanic behind the time travel he did... There's actually a possibility for him to win this one albeit slim.
Popeye would need to blitz him or Saitama would eventually reach him and surpass him
@@wolf512fullNot to mention, Saitama still pulls off toon-esque gag feats. Like kicking a spacetime portal away or punching a hole to walk into a dream dimension that Child Emperor and Phoenix Man were in...on top of him still *heavily* restricting himself even in the Garou fight, doing it all with one hand and actively not trying to kill Garou and never once even looking concerned still.
It doesn't bridge the gap to Popeye as is because Popeye is that absurd, like beyond pre-Crisis Superman levels. But the fact that Saitama is pulling off stuff like that and *still* hasn't come anywhere close to peak levels genuinely says to me we still have a lot more goofy stuff to come from him. Like if a fight between him and God comes down, I could see God last resort erasing the universe or something...only to turn and see Saitama there, staring blankly at him, say something dumb "oh so you're that kind of guy, turning off the game when you aren't winning?" then hitting a Serious Series: Start Button Punch and restarting the universe like he was unpausing the game.
