I liked that they kept the Doctor's passifism, he didn't want to use the gun but instead let Rick basically destroy himself

Fun Fact: The Doctor is arguably the strongest character to ever appear on Death Battle depending on what you count for him.
I wouldn't say the strongest but he's definitely possibly the deadliest when you consider all of the threats he's confronted and survived.
2nd only to Superman, but the two of them would love to keep humanity safe anyway so

Don't count Mitsuru Kirijo out. I know Death Battle low balled her pretty hard in her episode, but if you start digging into the world and lore of SMT her scaling actually places her near or even at the top of if the list. I'd say only a few Marvel and DC combatants beat her, and even then dhe isn't going down easy.
1. Note that The Doctor never directly harmed Rick and instead finished him off with his own attack.
2. Think of this Goku vs Superman as the "Remake" , the original is outdated in many ways and Round 2 is debunked by DB themselves.
I like The Doctor's reaction to the screaming sun. To me, the look on his face screamed "Oh, a great way to deal with the next person who pisses me off would be to leave them stranded here".
I think it was more an appreciation of even the most bizarre forms of life, like when he called a werewolf beautiful, weeping angels fascinating, yet lonely, and felt such great sympathy for the immense pain the Star Whale was in.
You could say the central factor to Rick's approach to survival is a determination to ensure nobody else can hurt him as much as he himself will. He is self-aware enough that when sober he'll realize how important it is to never cross paths with anybody who might piss him off drunk and who he can't easily take in a fight... and he has in fact taken steps to try to prevent that ever happening. ...Because, well, this.
The doctor won in a doctor-like way and I am happy about that.
honestly season 10 is the strongest season yet, and its ridiculous how good it is considering season 9 was so good in its own right. cant wait to see your reaction to the new goku vs superman, as it is a truly beautiful fight.
Yeah this season has been epic! I always love watching each episode (even the rare ones where I am not familiar with ether character) mainly because I want to see how creative they can be with the fight and the analysis. They always impress me clean down to the music. The people that they work with is amazing at making masterpieces that helps bring each fight to life!
They skipped Friezatron to avoid Dragon Ball spoilers (since they're watching through Dragon Ball on this channel) so I doubt they'll watch Goku vs Superman.

I really appreciate how Death Battle now does their best to adapt the combatants personalities and voices into the video, along with their abilities.
I guess my only critique is that they didn’t utilise the fact that in one episode the Tardis died when it entered another universe, which Rick’s portal gun could do.
However, there have been other times (mostly novels and other media) where the TARDIS hasn't died when entering another Universe, and was completely fine.
So yeah, that was probably too inconsistent to be worth factoring in.

@@insectostrich4407 Actually, on Twitter they confirmed this was the 14th Doctor, but this battle was in production long before the new TARDIS interior got revealed, which is why they used the 10th Doctors TARDIS.

I love that they retained his pacifist nature in this fight too.
He didn’t feel like any other Time Lord in a battle, he felt like The Doctor in a battle.
This episode of Death Battle was timed to coincide with the 60th anniversary of Doctor Who (it hasn't actually been on the air 60 years; the original run was canceled in 1989, and outside of one TV movie, didn't come back until 2005). Meanwhile, Rick and Morty not only cannot compete with that, it's also actually younger than Death Battle.
They already did, and its one of the best and heart warming fights ever made. Both Goku and Superman are incredible charactera in their own worlds. If DC and Toriyama ever plan on making a crossover. I'd really love to see them working together as friends, cause those two have a lot in common.
I agree that it's the best one of the three battles, but also the most pointless as there's nothing fundamentally new.
The same concept still applies, while Goku can break any limit, he's also the only one with limits to break.
From what I saw during the video. You guys need to watch Doctor Who season 3 episode 11, called “Blink”. It’s also one of the more common episodes to introduce someone to the franchise with. Coincidentally also one of the most terrifying episodes in the entirety of the show.
Don't worry too much about calling the Doctor "Doctor Who". It's common to call him that and his credits have even been Doctor Who on occasion.
Not saying that's his name. Just that it's not uncommon to call him that and to not stress to much.
I really loved some parts of this fight such as at the start where Rick tells the Space Cruiser to keep Morty safe or when The Doctor steps out and his immediate concern is what they'd done to the Tardis. The part where they fell into a group of Weeping Angels, and you see The Doctor keeps his eyes wide open while looking around rapidly as he tells Rick to do the opposite. Then how despite everything happening he still hesitates to use the gun that ultimately wins the fight for him by Rick's own actions. Ignoring the fight proper I also loved the bit during the analyses where Boomstick goes "so uh if the Tardis doesn't like you. You may get lost inside it forever." in such a do this and your screwed kind of way.
As to the newest Superman vs Goku fight the ending of that fight was a really nice touch.
Team Four Star threw in a lot of Doctor Who references during Future Trunks's time on the show.
If you've never seen an episode of Dr. Who, I highly recommend starting with the episode called "Don't Blink". Just to get a feeling for how crazy the episodes and the Dr.-verse. Then go back to Season 1, with the previous actor, the 9th Dr.
The only problem with that episode is the Doctor barely appears in it. It's a self-contained story, which is good for new viewers, but it doesn't really give you a feel for what the show is usually like.
Doctor Who has been on for 60 years and as such got some spin off series. Those spin offs includes The Sarah Jane Adventures which follows former Companion Sarah Jane Smith. And also Torchwood, which is an Anagram of Doctor Who and follows Captain Jack Harkness who is the friend of the Doctor.
Also the actor for the 10th and 14th doctors is David Tenant who is a Scottish man that is the son in law of Peter Davison. Davison played the fifth incarnation of the Doctor back during the classic era of the series.
There are 2 things about The Doctor that I think should have been addressed, one that works for him being that the TARDIS can produce a force field protecting people inside and close by, and one thing that works against him in that he often wins fights through intimidation, like he will be unarmed and surrounded by an army pointing guns at him and he will just let them know who he is and they freak out and run away, I don't think that tactic would work against Rick.
The people freak out and run away because he is more powerful than comprehension-he hesitates not becuase he can't beat you instantly. He hesitates for your sake because he is kind and understands why bad guys are bad. He defeats God's, demons. beings that can consume a universe in an instant with true immortality without prep. Even his weakest enemies generally consider blowing up planets as insignificant.
He inly used intinidation because he has so mich history of desteuction that people fear him
Doctor Who is one of those gems that not many people nowadays would really consider watching just because of how old the series is, but I cannot recommend it enough. If you like fun sci-fi adventure with a cheeky, charming protagonist and a whole slew of interesting companions then I highly recommend watching it.

The thing is... This is really a one-sided match-up. It was one-sided enough that the Doctor could defeat Rick while staying pacifist. If the Doctor was given the normal "Kill Rick" main goal, then the Doctor would have won this fairly early.
Rick is strong, but he doesnt have either the skills or the history that the Doctor has.
The Weeping Angels (monsters from the Doctor Who series) are, honestly, some of the most terrifying creatures ever. Watch highlights of the episode "Don't Blink" to see how bad they can be.
Despite the spoilers you should watch the goku vs superman battle is amazing, wholesome and the animation and theme were top
The Doctor wins and its not even close. Like he still fight with kid gloves on. He didn't bring 90% of his deadly weapons. Heck he didn't need them. He manipulated Rick to delete himself. Thats a pro gamer move right there ...
Just a fun fact. The Doctor is so terrifying an entire arc of one Doctor depicted him being the cause of all existence ending so all of his worst enemies, even the Daleks, who will kill inferior versions of themselves to cement their current stature as the supreme race, worked with other races to trap him in a sort of time prison. The actual cuplrit was the Tardis itself basically overloading and exploding but the idea a man is so unknown and terrifying to face that the alien super race hellbent on killing everything deemed inferior works with other creatures just to stop him from potentially erasing existence itself is pretty terrifying as a concept.
It's not actually round 3.
It's a complete reboot and reexamination of the first episode including modern material.
Since those 10 years ago, Death Battle has gained a new research team, a new way of measuring feats, a new outlook on certain feats, and no longer see Superman has "having no limits."
With all this, they wanted to give it another go and start over from scratch, especially since Ben, the showrunner and voice of Wiz, says that he pretty much despises those last two fights, especially the 2nd one.
I think yall would really enjoy Doctor Who. Maybe check it out. (Start with modern Who)
If you’re interested in watching Doctor Who now is a pretty good time to do so because of the 60th anniversary episodes but also because we’re getting the 15th Doctor for the Christmas special, not that couldn’t start any other time but the bbc signed a deal with Disney to put it on Disney+, I’d recommend starting with eccleston at the start of nu-who because as much as I like classic who, it’s not something everyone might enjoy.
Apparently only the episodes from the 60th specials onwards will be on Disney+ which is unfortunate.

Rick & Morty is like Doc Brown and Marty McFly meets Futurama and South Park. And it's genius. But you need the right mindset for it.

Doctor Who just celebrated it's 60th anniversary having first aired on the 23rd of November 1963.
Unlike Vegeta vs Thor and Freeza vs Megatron, Goku Vs Superman contains no spoilers for the Buu saga, so I think you guys can watch it normally.
I believe the Doctor is the only one who beat both Doc Brown (Rap Battle) & its not so flattering but still fun inspiration Rick Sanchez.
Honestly I only started seeing bits of Dr. WHO and it's been a trip. I wanna say I'm amazed that I slept on it for so long, but then I thought about it and...yeah I had a full plate of Sci-Fi as a kid. Like honestly dozens of stuff.
One thing I've leaned over all my years of watching Doctor Who, never bet against The Doctor.

Wait how did the doctor survive getting chest bursted during regen?
Rick was erased by the D-Mat before The Doctor could succumb to any potential injuries (even in the Alien movies, the chestburster victims pretty much never died right away from said chestbursting, typically surviving for at least a short amount of time before death), plus his shot may have been too early and so enough of the damage may have then been repaired via the last chunk of the regeneration to keep The Doctor alive.
you'd need to do more than harm his body during regeneration, he grew an entire body back from a single hand at one point.

Fight was so one sided, Rick got an impractical combat boost like Operation phoenix (Rick died over and over all episode until someone showed him mercy), while the Doctors best weapons were only implied.

You really should check out Doctor Who in general; it's such a good series.
Like many say, check out 'Don't Blink'; as it's what we refer to as a Doctor-lite episode with him hardly involved yet still playing a part to progress the episode on, and if that gets you peaked into more, start with the 2005 premiere episode 'Rose'.

...Really? I thought it was just okay, honestly. Can't say it really stood up to the previous two but it wasn't set up to be some massive "event" like those were so that's fine. I did like the change in tone though, making it a much more friendly fight they can potentially revisit whenever they want and sending the message that it's all for entertainment and people need to stop taking it so seriously was a good idea.
Season 10 is not missing so far.
y'all are SO close to being done with Z/Kai tho... once you're done with that, you can watch their first death battle! (and then you can just watch the First two Super movies and be ready to watch their second.... and then yeah it's all of the Super series for this last one)

If you two have any questions about Doctor Who I can recommend a couple of creators on RUclips who are big Doctor Who fans but if you decide to look it for yourselves I will warn you that the original show from the sixties to the eighties was incredibly cheesy with cheap props and sometimes silly plots.
The thing is while Rick and Morty started as a parody of Doc Brown and Marty Mcfly it is much more a parody of Doctor Who, Rick and the doctor are very similar characters but the doctor cares to much having every death weigh on him Rick has become numb to the consequences of his actions

they actually downplayed the doctor a fair bit here. The glory is something the doctor can access, and with it he becomes one of the most powerful combatants on the show of all time. Even without that he had multiple insta win options like the time key, the moment, the heart of the tardis, absorbing the time vortex.
The word doctor only means healer on earth, everywhere else? It means genocider. War monger. It means monster
Death Battle did a more respectful anniversary celebration of Doctor Who than BBC themselves... let that sink in.

I have a question... wouldn't having his clone chest burster explode his body mid regeneration kill the doctor? or was that just their choice of effect to make the fight seem closer?
No, because the regeneration effectively makes spawn killing really hard with how fast you can regrow body parts/heal (River had a bunch of people empty machine guns into her and it did nothing because of regeneration.) You would have to match/overpower the regeneration energy in a very specific window, which that gun cannot (this energy was capable of dealing damage to a warship.) The recent episode of Doctor Who also revealed Bigeneration, where Rick could’ve fought two Doctors at the same time. Not mentioned, but The Doctor has canon plot armor, too.
Even I Rick's own universe he built the finight curve to make sure no one could ever become smarter than him cause he new it would be his downfall
see this fight didnt seem fair rick dodge not just a beam but a orbital cannon beam, somthing that can def move fast then just any ol beam. not to mention docs regen factors stops wen its interupted and i think a rick popping out his body shouldve def stopped that if not killed him
actually the laser from the satellite had more time to travel than the doctors lasers, meaning the doctor technically had the faster feat. And even if rick fatally injured the doctor during regeneration he can stave off dying for days if he wants to. Yeah the doctor is kinda broken.
I agree with the fact that the Doctor wins against Rick, but i dont like this battle. Rick didn't seem very in character to me, taking the battle so seriously right away and struggling very little with his brain
They haven`t mentioned the most impressive thing, that Rick C-137(protagonist, the main Rick we see in most series) have made. It....doesn`t really matter in context of Death Battle itself, this fact wouldn`t do anything in fight, but he created Central Finite Curve, it`s a wall around infinity, separated all the infinite universes from all the infinite universes where he's the smartest man in the universe. He took part of infinity to himself and, basically, became a god. It`s funny, how Ricks love put boundless in boundaries, well, at least two of them, because there`s other Rick, who created The Weapon Too Cool For a Name(known to inferiors as "The Omega Device"). You may ask "What`s this one do?" Well, it kills you, EVERY of you. If one version of person will die by this weapon, then it erases EVERY other version of this person across infinity.
Never either of these shows but I felt the doctor would.....i mean his powers are that of humble god....from my point of view ......where as Rick is too much of a violent dweeb looking to prove things and things go worse
@Definitely Not Definitive By the way the Goku VS Superman is not a Part 3, it's more of a redo of Part 2 done with the current Death Battle Standards. Ben said that Part 2 was not a true sequel as the characters were not in character of themselves and that they decided to use the strongest versions of Goku and Superman (Goku: Dragon Ball Heroes, Superman: DC Canon Series) to end the debate. You guys will be watching the best of the best versions to determine the ultimate winner. Ben was the one that wanted to redo Goku VS Superman 2himself.
