Trust me, the Daleks are easily one of the most terrifying creatures in all of fiction.
Imagine a being stripped of all emotion, compassion, and feelings and replaced with pure, burning, unyielding, DOMINATING hatred for anything thing that isn't REMOTELY a full-blooded Dalek. And then give them lasers that can instantly kill any organic being and invisible shields that can burn through all types of physical projectile. You can't even permanently beat them because they will always, somehow, return in droves, usually stronger than before. Despite their goofy appearance, they are practically a force of nature.
When you hear that raspy, robotic catchphrase of theirs, "EXTERMINATE," you immediately know you are utterly and totally F*CKED.

He never raised his voice. That was the worst thing. The fury of the Time Lord. And then we discovered why. Why this Doctor who had fought with gods and demons, why he’d run away from us and hidden. He was being kind.
He wrapped my father in unbreakable chains, forged in the heart of a dwarf star. He tricked my mother into the event horizon of a collapsing galaxy, to be imprisoned there forever. He still visits my sister- He trapped her inside a mirror. Every mirror. As for me, I was suspended in time. And the Doctor put me to work standing over the fields of England, as their protector.
We wanted to live forever. So the Doctor made sure that we did.

The effects and costumes were super cheesy because the it’s a Sci Fi Show operating on a TV show budget, which historically means “Not a lot of Money”. If you're going to get into the new Doctor Who stuff, start with the reboot from 2005 staring Christopher Eccleston as the Ninth incarnation of The Doctor. With episode one, “Rose”. The Ninth Doctor was unfortunately only around for one season, but he was good and eccentric and he paved the way for the the most beloved version of the Doctor played by David Tennant. (No offense to classic 'whovians' who probably still favor Tom Baker as the best from the old series.)

Doctor Who is primarily aimed at family audiences. It had a couple of spinoffs: The Sarah Jane Adventures, which was aimed toward a younger/teen audience, and Torchwood, which was aimed at an adult audience. The Series 4 finale serves as a crossover between these three shows.
As for recommendations, a few suggestions I'd make are "The Daleks" (1963, 7 episodes), "The Three Doctors" (1972-1973, 4 episodes), "Genesis of the Daleks" (1975, 6 episodes), and "The Five Doctors" (1983, 1 feature-length special; I recommend the Special Edition); "The Daleks" is about 3 hours but recently they released a colorized version that's only about 70 minutes - pretty decent, good music choices, though personally I think the editing is a bit choppy in places. As for New Who, which started in 2005, personally, I enjoyed Series 1-6, (most of) Part 2 of Series 7, "The Night of the Doctor" and "The Day of the Doctor" (2013).

Very good suggestions! And I love that youre shilling classic who specifically, however im not so sure im with you on recommending "The 5 Doctors". For me its very much a "for the fans" type story (for obvious reasons - anniversary and all that) and without the nostalgia feeling of seeing old familiar faces the story itself is not the cleanest. Its has to bend to include everyone and thus is rather unfocused imo.
      Perhaps thats just me though.

I'd suggest for new fans to just start with 9 (new who series 1) and then go up to this day and maybe after check out classic stuff.
I'd say that the Sja audience is kids, torchwood is teen/young adult/adult and dr who is for everyone (saying it's a family show damages public/the outsiders perception as in their mind a family show could just be the equivalent to a kids show so it's better to say it can be suited for everyone but at points can go in directions that maybe the youngest of kids might not wanna see until a bit older, also from that it can be stated that dr who's show structureis that it can reinvent itself and go into various new interesting directions and can explore many genres)

@@Daelyas Yeah, if you hadn't seen "The Three Doctors" beforehand you might not get the same experience - it's like a sequel where you need to have watched the first one to really understand it. And from what I remember "The Five Doctors" didn't have much in the way of intertwining plotlines.
I've also seen some Patrick Troughton serials but it was so long ago since I've seen them I can't remember enough to really recommend them, even though he's my second-favourite Doctor. The only thing I can really remember is the make-do-and-mend design of the Mondasian Cybermen.

Doctor Who is like a british show (one of the longest of all time actually worldwide), thats sci-fi heavy and involves a "Doctor" thats a time traveller essentially, and generally he every now and then "regenerates" during a climactic episode and essentially comes back as a new actor so that theres a new person playing them every now and themn

A quick and easy explanation to why rick lost is because. Rick was a man who figured out time travel and has cheated death with his many inventions. While the doctor is from a species known as time lords and was capable of surviving battles against opponents who nearly destroyed time and space.

Rick learned if you shoot something that’s spitting out pure energy NOT knowing what it is- it could be bad that’s why he was so hesitant on that decision. That’s why he used the other gun to shoot him. Then used the D-mat weapon on him

Just for context on English slang. Bloke is often used to refer to people (mostly men) who are not in the conversation e.g. "That Ryan's a strange bloke, ain't he?". The word Mate is often used when talking to the person directly e.g. "Alright mate?" But these are general uses of the words. People tend to mix and match to whatever suits the conversation.

Shooting The Doctor while regenerating is a hopeless attempt; that regeneration energy he's blasting out of every part of his body will heal anything short of a nuke, and even then he wasn't 100% sure that would do the job, but did not care to test it.

"He never raised his voice. That was the worst thing. The fury of the Time Lord. And then we discovered why. Why this Doctor, who'd fought with Gods and Demons, why he'd run away from us, and hidden.....
    ......he was being kind....
He wrapped my father in unbreakable chains, forged in the heart of a dwarf star.
He tricked my mother into the event horizon of a collapsing galaxy. To be imprisoned there...forever.
He still visits my sister, once a year, every year. I wonder if one day he might forgive her, but there she is. Can you see her? He trapped her inside a mirror. Every mirror. If ever you look at your reflection, and see something move behind you, just for a second. That's her. That's always her.
As for me I was suspended in time. And the Doctor put me to work, standing over the fields of England as their protector.
We wanted to live forever. So the Doctor made sure that we did."
Family of blood, episode, I guess, called "Human instinct" or something like this. One of the best stories of New Doctor Who.

I have a theory about time travel that might be out there. Since Time Travel can't possibly exist in real life because it would be literally breaking one of the fundamental laws of reality it will always just be a theory. However I believe that what we think of as "changing the past" is actually a causality loop created by time travel itself. I.E fate. What is meant to happen always will happen. An infinite loop of the same mistakes being made. Also known as a fixed point. What we would experience if such a thing existed would be the other side of how we tried to change something but, ended up reliving an event that already happened. Like how the characters of Lost relived the events that created their situation in the present and then realised that they were the reason everything fell apart. They weren't changing anything. They were living out every moment how it originally happened without knowing it. It's all a bunch of nonsense but, it's still fun to think about.

this is what you need to know about the doctor.
if he is your friend, he will protect you with everything he has.
if you are his foe, then there is no where in time or space you will be safe from him, should you piss him off. just ask col. runaway.
