    The execution of your work and the detail in your design is fabulous! So neat and very thoughtful. I love the change of colours on the upper cupboards. Wish I lived in the USA - I'd definitely commission a van from you guys for my retirement. It just gets better and better with each build. xxx

    Greetings from Southm Africa. This van build is absolutely stunning. Love it! You two are on your way to a great future in van building. We have also done a Sprinter just now and sure wish we had all the options and product availability like you guys in US. But we make the best of it. All the best for the future!

    Awesome job painting! Love watching your time lapses...I'm sure it would be nice if the actual work went that fast. Love the way your work (wires and water lines) are kept so neat and attached to the walls! I wish ours looked that neat! Love that you used a good sized inverter and 3 batteries! Plenty of power! Be sure to give yourselves time to rest and recoup each day. Great tip on the upper cabinet doors! Keep up the great work. Much love to you both! ❤️

    The amount of work you've done is impressive. I can't imagine how much a real pure sine-wave inverter costs at 5,000 watts. Best of luck!

      Yeah we went with a lower draw model! No real need for 5k watts.

    Have you thought about a hepvo waterless trap for the sink drain? It would be good to have it as well as a P trap but I'm not sure if that's overkill.

    Rubbing alcohol will remove the sharpie line. But be careful because it can melt the plastic laminate/formica layer of the counter.

    • @carolewarner101
      @carolewarner101 3 года назад

      Ahhh, but pretty certain the counter surface is actual wood, NOT laminate. So rubbing alcohol would just smear the line out larger whilst soaking into the wood for a permanent black, smudgy stain...thereby ruining your countertop!

    • @adavid2548
      @adavid2548 3 года назад

      If its wood then its works fine. I've used a cotton ball with alcohol to get out sharpie before and worked great

    You was right about batteries saying poz on one neg on other end and charging the other way looking at the wires connecting I would use 35mm square font know American awg with a 5000 watt inverter as the power draw goes through every wire connecting the batteries 🤔

    • @scarletandseth

      We changed the inverter out for one with less draw but good tip!

  • @johnsylvan8600

    I found the same. Modified square wave inverter will not run any appliance with a timer type circuit. It looks for zero crossing. Induction cook top did not work with mine, so I had to replace it . (same for an electric blanket) Also a 240V hot water heater not a bad idea. It will take twice as long, but current is half. If you do math, a 1400 Watt heater at 120V requires about 70 Amps at 12V, My 3000 Watt Renogy inverter would not handle it, or more exactly the wires. You will need a 1 gauge wire to batteries not more than a foot long.

    • @scarletandseth
      @scarletandseth  3 года назад

      Yeah, I had to wire in the recommended 3/0g for the inverter. However, I found that the 120v water heater heats the water in about 10-15 minutes so it is much easier to work into a sunny day and charge back up or run the vehicle while you heat it up to charge. It’ll then stay warm for about 4-8 hours depending on temp outside!

    Pulling the stuff apart to paint seems so demoralising, but I can understand why it's required for the high quality finish. Have you considered sealing the cab with plastic at the start of the build to avoid the construction dust in there or do you find it's not too hard to clean post-build?

    • @scarletandseth
      @scarletandseth  3 года назад +1

      It 100% is and was not done on our van and you can tell. We have thought about it, but the honest truth is that we would have to remove it multiple times through the course of the build and it’s not to hard to get it all clean at the end!

    Great work and interesting videos. Why not use a 12V DC water heater, instead of 120V AC? It seems like the less things that you need the inverter for, the better and more efficient.

    • @scarletandseth

  • @jamisontobias2752
    @jamisontobias2752 3 года назад

    Very clean install. Your main battery cables are too way to small. 5000watt/12volts=416.7Amps. Absolute minimum cable size should be 4/0Awg. A 2000w inverter should be 2/0awg. Bigger is always better.

  • @thebenson1983
    @thebenson1983 3 года назад +1

    I enjoy watching your videos and I'm impressed with what you guys are doing with the vans.But since you're reselling it you have to start using better materials and equipment. The veneer countertop it's so cheesy. Just like any inexpensive veneer product once it chips it's ruined and if water gets underneath the veneer into the particleboard it will expand. Go to the box store and you can get maple solid butcher block countertops. Few hundred bucks. The most important part is your electrical. Please please upgrade to hi performance Victron 3000 watt converter/ charger. The inexpensive high voltage converter's will get very hot and possibly start a fire.They are built very cheap. All the Victron components have safety electrical parts built into it. Go on RUclips you will see all the cheap inverters overheating. Last thing you guys need is a lawsuit because of a fire. Keep the videos coming I enjoy them.

    • @scarletandseth
      @scarletandseth  3 года назад +3

      Hey there! We actually have another inverter company we use pretty regularly now and I assure you they are not the cheap ones. This one, as stated in the video got replaced.
      Interestingly enough we have a solid butchers block counter going in the next build as well along with Victron components for pretty much everything. Each one has been a stepping stone and learning process for us and we are continually improving the quality of each build.

    • @thebenson1983

      @@scarletandseth Very good. Not the nick pic but if you're planning on reselling the new van you might want to open an LLC for your van company that will protect you a little bit for lawsuits and so forth and take out $1 million umbrella policy to. Starting to sound like a parent.Lol other piece of advice is to just slow down a little bit and do it right. Look forward to the new van build. Just curious what websites do you use to sell your van on?

    • @scarletandseth
      @scarletandseth  3 года назад +1

      We do have an LLC + general liability insurance etc.
      We actually just list them once they are completed on Facebook marketplace. Thanks for the engagement and if you want to learn more feel free to check out ltvcustoms.com for more on what we’ve made. As far as timeline we have found that doing them fairly quickly allows for the ability to improve on many things since you can actually remember what you did the day before. That being said our next one is pretty intense so we will be taking a bit longer on it. We built our van over 6 months but it was a horrible process only working after work and on weekends.
