I salute your creativity. Your big challenge with the floor pan will be water ruining the wood. Maybe the adhesive in place of thinset will work. I think what is needed is some kind of modular curb onto which clips the shower curtain. Perhaps a bicycle inner tube filled with sand. The weight might be enough to keep the water from seeping under. Another way to go, instead of tile, would be fiberglass onto the sloped ply. When not using the shower, a rubber mat goes over the fiberglass. The rubber mat could have topographically layered pieces to level the top of it out so that the slope is not noticeable when the mat is down.
You blew my mind with both builds. This is one of the best "out of the box" approaches I've seen yet. New layouts, new materials, new ways of using spaces. I'm also building an LWB based on a ProMaster 2500 with structural aluminum. After watching (binge-watching) your videos I feel more confident. WOW!
For contouring the plywood Get a 7" grinder/sander with sanding disc for super fast material removal and a 4" wide belt sander will take the hills out.

Next time for the subfloor under the shower, use an angle grinder with 80 or 120 grit flap discs. Will take you half the time. Keep up the good work. 👍🏼

I love to watch your van life build. Cool technology and materials etc. I am dreaming of having a deaf friendly van built for me cuz I am profoundly Deaf since birth. For I want a Ring Doorbell outside of the sliding door so I can be aware of someone at door. Also smoke, motion, monoxide detectors connected to flashing lights inside. That would be awesome 👏🏼

Whoa, that "solar port" is backwards. They're made to have the rain flow over them, with the ports to the REAR to reduce the chance of water being driving in while driving...

Beautiful tile job, maybe your next floor you could add a spot of color tiles here and there to break up all the white.
I did that in my bathroom. Random slate replaces the ceramic. It is nice to be able to rub bare feet on the slate when needed. They sit a little higher than the ceramic and the floor is heated as radiant.

Can you share a product name / link for the foam core. Would like something that can be sourced locally. Many guides promote use of minicell which not economical to ship sheets.

Love the idea but I am wondering since I’ve seen the tour, when the drawer with shower pops up does it leak? Because it doesn’t make any sense to me it is way higher than the drain and if there is uneven ground it is probably all over the floor?.. or how does it work? It will be cool if u show it. Because idea is really cool, just cannot understand does it really work or just a cool thing.
It actually only sits a 1/4 inch above the drain so if you are on any kind of fairly level ground it will work perfectly fine and not get water everywhere!
@@scarletandseth but 1\4 inch it is a lot... and a lot of time there are no 'fair level' 😊🤷♀️ is it possible to have rubber like sealing or i dont know combination to make it 100% leak proof. very interesting thing. i am very excited to check it. do u have video where it has been used? i am sorry to bother u but this idea is genius. Just hard to understand how to make it work on 100%
What's your guy's videos my suggestion though when you're looking for vans try rental companies they tend to get rid of their vans under 10,000 miles because when you hit around 30 to 50 is when you'll have to start replacing stuff condo rent out their mans for like a so they will rent out their Vans for like a year or 2 then then sell them.
My Mercedes Sprinter is an ex rental. I don't know any rental company anywhere that sells off their vans at such few miles/ kilometers. My Van's chassis, cab was built in 2010 in Germany. Exported. Built into the rental van that yr. Kept in the rental business for 7 yrs, 282,000 ks, when sold. As far as 'things going wrong,' as you put it, at such few ks, I don't believe that for a moment. I have now owned mine for almost three yrs and it has now done 314,000 ks. No issues in that time. Maintenance is key.

It is rad. One of the best purchases we made. The only M12 tool we have that I’m not a huge fan of is the angle grinder. Got a Makita one that is cordless since I found the m12 underperformed cutting metal. Other than that I really love the m12 line!

Wonder if the water will ever make it in the drain.. It looks great, but functionality.. I picture that water all over the place -- The grade of land you park on will always have to come into account before a shower because the way the water makes it to the lowest point. Appealing concept and look though.
you could put the van on airbag suspension and always let the front right air out to make it lower before a shower, lol -- just a thought.
It isn’t difficult in the US since the roads always lean left for drainage purposes. Pair that with the fact that the rear suspension is actually higher and it’s not difficult to get it pretty level or even more favorable for draining. In the tour video we eyeballed a level spot in about 30 seconds and never had an issue. The convenience of a shower in your home outweighs the inconvenience of finding level ground in my eyes at least!
I have looked into air just as a means of leveling, but the ride would be horrible for typical use.
That missing little piece of tile nearest the end of the video, please tell me that you place it, my inner ocd is screaming!!!

Enjoy watching your kids but that floor drain system looks like trouble . One little leak could disastrous . being you guys sell these vans I would keep it simple.
At the base it is actually pretty simple! We have full confidence it is completely waterproof!

Take an educated guess at what will sell and then hope it sells haha! We always price fairly so that helps the sale.

If i Want to build my own van.. Where the hell can i build this Thing? I dont have Rich parents with a garage, can't rent one in my Region and don't have a Garden where i can put a temporary Tent.
All i have is a little bit of money for the raw materials, Tools and Knowlege do to my education.
