    Hey all! Wow thank you so much for the engagement! We have been getting lots of questions or concerns about us not wearing masks in Lowe’s and I’d like to clear it up! Firstly, this video was released months after it was shot. (If you check the channel you will see the tour of the van we begin to build here posted the week prior). Secondly, at the time we shot masks were not mandatory or recommended at all by the CDC (once the recommendation went into effect we started wearing them). This was filmed during the first week of quarantine, and since there was a shortage of masks, they were being reserved for medical staff specifically. Thanks!

    Don’t use flex seal! We’ve used it on our grain storage bin vents and they always leak so we cut all that flex seal out and just used clear coking or black coking and that sealed up really nice. Don’t worry we got sold on flex seal too...

      I did use sikaflex underneath. Flex seal was just an extra layer on top. Did you use the spray or the roll on? I know we have had sikaflex along with a topcoat of flex seal on our van for 2 years and it’s never leaked.

      I have already responded to this a few times, but will clarify. This was before masks were recommended by the CDC as a form of protection against the virus. There was also a shortage and masks were being reserved for medical personnel so we figured rather than stock piling we would let them be used for those who most needed them. Contrary to popular belief the video was not filmed and released at the same time. If you look at the channel you will see the final tour of the van you are watching us build here posted before this video. This was in the first week of closures in NC when the US had a few thousand cases. Most people were not wearing masks or did not have access to masks at the time it was filmed. You will however notice that we arrived at Lowe’s at 6am when they opened to avoid as much contact as possible with people. Thanks for watching.

    Just a warning . Flexible solar panels have a fraction of the warranty (2 years?) of rigid panels(20years?) for a reason. Rigid panels can be mounted directly to the roof using modern tapes and adhesives. They're an inch and a half high. Well under the Maxfan height. Wonderful build ! Just trying to help educate. I have no solar panel stock. LOL.

      @nagualdesign 4 года назад +3

      I was thinking kinda the opposite; that there's going to be too much insulation in the walls. With two people (or even just one) in a small camper you need constant airflow to avoid high humidity, making thick insulation redundant. The important thing is to (thinly) insulate any cold metal to avoid any condensation forming. Even in cold weather when the diesel heater's running it doesn't pay to hang on to that warm, moist air. Staying dry is as important as staying warm.

      Their panels are gonna break. Don’t buy flexible panels for your van build.

    *I READ REFLECTIX HAS TO HAVE AN AIR GAP TO WORK. AND THAT YOU NEED A HARD HAND ROLLER TO ROLL OVER THE SOUND DEADENING MATS after applying.*

      Yep, you and many others, so I’ll say it one more time. We did roll the kilmat, just not on camera because it’s not the most interesting thing. We also left air gaps in between each pocket on the roof and did another layer later on in the build! Since it increases r value to have one more layer.

    Seems like RUclips fucked up your views algorithm. Like how can you go from this many views to where you are now with this quality of editing, craftsmanship and creative design work?

    Do you do client builds? Not sure if you've answered this question in any of your videos, sorry if you have. I love your work.

    • @scarletandseth
      @scarletandseth  4 года назад +1

      What we are doing now is building and selling vans! A client/contract build adds a lot to the mix and would end up being more expensive for the client than if we just build and then sell!

    why didn't you add windows towards the back of the van? do you regret this decision? Thought it would be nice for cross drafts.
    the part of the van that you are running water and electric through can a person make holes in the front part of that bump? thought that it would make it easier for future repairs? or would that take to much away from the integrity of the van.
    it would also be nice to know where you purchased the solar panels and anything ales that didn't come from lowe's.

    Hi guys I’m just starting my own DIY van build. I’m familiar with Kilmat but could you list or include links to the other products you used after the kilmat? I saw a something that said poly pro but it went so fast. Do you mind listing the products and order you put them on. Just subscribed thank you so much👏

      There is lots of info out there! 12v is also a fairly easy form of electrical so that helps!

    • @scarletandseth
      @scarletandseth  4 года назад +1

      We found they actually preformed pretty well! We chose them so we could keep them right on the van so it’s a bit harder to tell if it is a camper!!

      Yeah, I read some interesting reviews myself! One thing I’ve kinda always disliked about the ones we have is the glass on top which not only adds weight but can easily crack or get micro cracks that affect performance just from heat etc. I actually cracked the corner of one of ours just installing it.
