This is really the only complaint people and tech reviewers are having about the Pixel 6 series i.e the poor battery life (which I can see from this video is due to unusually high power consumption for an SoC). Google really should have made the Tensor more efficient. But still otherwise the phone is great. The thermal management of the phone is amazing. This isn't even a good result for a Mali GPU. The Mediatek Dimensity 1200 performs better and more stable despite: -Being an upper-midrange SoC -Having a "weaker" GPU (Mali G77 MC9 vs Tensor's Mali G78 MP20) The performance per watt is also dissapointing. @@mythydamashii9978 It makes sense that Mediatek's GPU isn't as quite good. After all, they mostly make midrange and low-end chips. Even then, the Dimensity 1200 is ahead of the Snapdragon 778G in GPU power.
@@androidoneiu5206 That's expected. Dimensity 1200 is an upper-midrange chip, whereas the Exynos 2100 is flagship-tier chip. Though from I've seen, the Dimensity 1200 could be thermally more stable.

If you're buying a Pixel just for gaming, you're hugely mistaken. Pixels' main unique selling point over its competitors is its ML capabilities, astrophotography, minimal bloat software UI optimization with fast monthly software updates. It doesn't need to be the best at hardware performance which is evident from predecessor Pixel phones.
@@rrageneral1499 It does have great software optimization and day to day usage and is definitely much smoother than alot of other OEMs. Gaming is just not Pixels strongest suit. Nah! iPad Pro A12X (2018) gaming performing impact after updating to iOS 15.1 I've noticed that throttling and screen dimming are happening a lot faster then before while playing Genshin Impact. Before the update I was able to play for a lot longer and the screen would only dim to around 80% - 70% after playing for extended periods of time while the iPad was plugged in at 100% while I game. (everything max settinqs). But now after the update my screen dims to 40% after playing for only 10 - 15 minutes and the iPad is barely hot, compared to before on iOS 14 I was able to play for hours on end and the screen would only dim to a max of 70%, I'm also noticing lower fps once the screen dims. I tired rolling back my update but Apple doesn't allow it. This is really frustrating, it's almost as if they are doing to on purpose. Anyone having the same issues or have any insight on the matter? Can you make a video about this? Just make sure if you update your iPad to iOS 15.1 that you compare the performance, I’m almost certain they changed something, I can’t play Genshin impact for 10 min without the screen dimming to 40% its ridiculous.
The next Exytensor chip should be better with AMD. This first one would be a flagship 2 years ago. That $600 Pixel 6 doesn't look like a bargain any more. Get a $400 Surface Duo. No kickstand required.

Meaningless, the 120Hz is opened for M1 iPad Pro, but they have the same patch because of the same shared App store. So yes, you can enable the 120Hz on phone, but no, you will not reach this performance on the phone in the next 1-2 years.. M1 basically is a doubled A14 (doubled amount of power cores and doubled amount of GPU cores, it's +100% performance because of the doubled amount of cores), but A15 is only a +20-30% improvements compared to the same A14, so it's still missing 70-80% bonus performance to be able to do the same on the phone.

Normal or high graphics should be enough. Personally, i will buy the iphone 13 Pro and i won´t use the highest graphics. It is not necessary for a good game experience.
It's pretty low for a Snapdragon 888 but once again Genshin Impact ultra is a phone killer since none have very good thermal management. I actually bought my next phone using your benchmarks for weighing some of my decision (was deciding between z fold 3 and Iphone 13). I like the solution of the magnetic blackshark on the iphone 13 and once it's possible to unlock power management on this will probably be worth it and be a very comfortable playing experience. I think the latest android 12 layer is currently somewhat less efficient at power management while gaming from what I've seen after updating on 2 of my phone. The benchmark will probably be interesting to revisit on the Pixel once a couple updates have come by!
Hello Golden Reviewer, if you still have any sd865 devices to test out genshin after these huge updates would be interesting. If you don't have, no problem because i understand your using your own money to buy these phones.
what about performance at 30fps? most phones struggle to handle 60fps, so honestly if the pixel 6 runs genshin at 30 fps med-high graphics settings i will be more than satisfied.

@@Bill2011ELITE after few months the performance of those phones will start to decline. especially asus rog. people say that after few months the phone starts to have lagging issues frequently.
Well, that high power = high power consumption it's not how's it going. The power cores are for power task, they consume a lot in all phones that have those, for other task you had the mid and tiny sizes cores. The problem here is that they choose older mid sizes chips, and also their governor favors the big cores in the difficult task, which is fine since this cores are more faster so can finished those task faster... The problem is that this games uses more the GPU than the CPU (they mostly uses 1 core at full and the others at mid level, if they uses the second X1 as a mid... Well there is the power consumption problem). The GPU it's not that powerful and give that the governor make it downclock so the CPU can maintain the performance is what makes this type of issues in performance. The problem is, this was documented with the Exynos at the beginning of the year... They should have take measures at the very least. Next year Qualcomm chips will introduce the cortex arm v9 platform which mean they might use a config of two cortex X2, two cortex A700 and two cortex A500, this will be better than the current ones and with better consumption so the GPU of adreno will have a bigger advantage that other years. Samsung might do the same but also use the AMD collaboration with the rdna2 GPU. If google can keep up and choose Mali again... Then this is bad.
@@hailgod1 I mean, those numbers are not the final, that comes from a rumor that they change the cluster for the next chip, it could be 2(X2)+2(A710)+2(A510)+2LP(A510LowPower).

This is why each android phone vendors should contact the devs personally due to the device and OS compatibility, so the devs can optimize their game for certains device and custom OS and ofc that aint free ,..not like iOS they only got 1 OS

Can you do a FPS Performance test on the high, medium, and low presets ? I'm curios what it can actually mange.
Despite having such high power consumption, it stayed cooler than SD 888 and Exynos 2100 powered S21 Ultra
Just because they are throttling it more aggressively, that's why the poor fps performance, or will melt.. literally
@@robertroot7237 The thermal management of this phone and the Tensor chip is great. Despite using older cores in Tensor and more power, the Pixel 6 Pro performs about the same as Exynos 2100 S21 Ultra in Genshin Impact but still remains alot cooler at 36-40 degree Celsius with the S21 Ultra routinely touching around 45 degrees.
@@ibraheem1224 it's still worst in average fps and has higher average and peak consumption especially before throttling.. and the fact that it's similar to the exynos 2100 performance(while using much less bloated software) it's not really a badge of honor🤣 it's not great, it's crap
If it wouldn't be too much trouble can you test the realme gt neo 2 and motorola edge 20 pro as well, heard that they have great sustained performance.

Was waiting for this video, thx. It seems I'll will using my Mi10 a year more, really poor performance, hopefully next pixel will fix its soc.
as expected from a rebranded Exynos, but I'd say not a bad start considering its a $899 flagship, and they never focused on gamers.
But this shows that Google needs to start making its own *Real* custom chips using TSMC fab rather than Samsung.
No there's no excuses the phone costs $899 its expected to score high on Antutu and play graphically intensive games with no issues. 😡 Google
@@venator7889 ikr, but I'll let them pass this time cuz it's their first time doing something different, but next time onwards it has to be industry leading or Pixel would suck as always.
I think Google make a good decision to works with samsung, because sooner samsung will release the samsung x AMD chip, who knows google is allowed to use the tech of it 🙌🏻 just hope tho
But Google's ceo said they had been working on this chip for 4yrs
Stop talking nonsense, tensor aren’t a Exynos renamed, and Samsung only manufactured the chip, Google has designed the chip
Mali GPUs are a joke for gaming. Adreno destroys it. Hence, why Snapdragons do overheat. But you get the horsepower to handle graphic-intensive games.
This isn't even a good result for a Mali GPU. The Mediatek Dimensity 1200 performs better and more stable despite:
-Being an upper-midrange SoC
-Having a "weaker" GPU (Mali G77 MC9 vs Tensor's Mali G78 MP20)
The performance per watt is also dissapointing. The Tensor can draw the same or slightly more power than the Kirin 9000, but it manages to perform worse.
THIS IS WHAT I'VE BEEN TELLING TO THOSE BRAINWASHED MEDIATEK SHEEP
@@mythydamashii9978 It makes sense that Mediatek's GPU isn't as quite good. After all, they mostly make midrange and low-end chips. Even then, the Dimensity 1200 is ahead of the Snapdragon 778G in GPU power.
@@muhammadnaufala9890 Samsung destroys it
@@androidoneiu5206 That's expected. Dimensity 1200 is an upper-midrange chip, whereas the Exynos 2100 is flagship-tier chip. Though from I've seen, the Dimensity 1200 could be thermally more stable.
>not using Vulkan
it's common knowledge at this point that mali GPU performs worse on OpenGL compared to Vulkan.
Yep this comment deserves more attention. Geekbench shows a much better score with Vulkan enabled. Do you have recommendations for good games with Vulkan support?
If you're buying a Pixel just for gaming, you're hugely mistaken. Pixels' main unique selling point over its competitors is its ML capabilities, astrophotography, minimal bloat software UI optimization with fast monthly software updates. It doesn't need to be the best at hardware performance which is evident from predecessor Pixel phones.
I would expect great performance from a device that costs $500+.
@@rrageneral1499 It does have great software optimization and day to day usage and is definitely much smoother than alot of other OEMs. Gaming is just not Pixels strongest suit. If you're strictly focused on hardware performance then it's better to just get a iPhone or iPad since most Android phones today is still lackluster.

Google cocked it up by not using Snapdragon...
Which for them would be cheaper and better for the users
Nah!
The new Snapdragon 800 series chips are really expensive
Plus they get very hot so Google would've needed to install a good heat dissipation system which would increase the costs of manufacturing the phone
That's why they went with a custom processor
Imo snapdragon's 700 series chips are where u find the right balance of thermals and performance
I am not a mobile gamer but I've tried playing pubg on my Phone which has a snapdragon 720G

iPad Pro A12X (2018) gaming performing impact after updating to iOS 15.1
I've noticed that throttling and screen dimming are happening a lot faster then before while playing Genshin Impact. Before the update I was able to play for a lot longer and the screen
would only dim to around 80% - 70% after playing for extended periods of time while the iPad was plugged in at 100% while I game. (everything max settinqs). But now after the update my
screen dims to 40% after playing for only 10 - 15 minutes and the iPad is barely hot, compared to before on iOS 14 I was able to play for hours on end and the screen would only dim to a max
of 70%, I'm also noticing lower fps once the screen dims.

Those 2 Cortex-X1 cores really eat up the battery 😂 🔥
High power = high power consumption
