@@catboy3471 I pre-ordered my Pixel 2XL, the only issue I ever noticed was at a glance not always showing the weather. It only recently just started slowing down (so around 4 years). Which seemed to be related to the HD being a bit full, clearing out some space helped speed things up until my 6 pro came in. So far no issues, but I do get there is an argument to be made for consistency and there is certainly an expectation for the price. I just wonder if the issues are really as wide spread as some people make it seem. • @benjmiester
      @benjmiester 2 года назад +3

Which ones have you had? I've had just one with Google maps showing a blank screen when I hit the camera shortcut once and technically the "bug" (that's not a bug) of lines on the screen when it's off and I press the power button. That's not a bug because it's off it's booting up so it has no image to display. That's just a screen power scan. Most phones are told to display a blank screen during that to hide this. Not to mention it's never off I just found it after reading about that and tried it. I'd have never known. That's literally it for mine. Sounds like hype to me for most people. I see just as much posts that don't really have any issues. I'm on the December update. It came in OTA before it was pulled via At&t in the U.S.

Even with the new version I have issues where the keyboard persists on the home screen, or the keyboard appears crunched. They need to get it together.

The only issue I had with the P6P was the finger print sensor that was a bit slow and took a few tries. With the update I just got today, that has vastly improved. Having come from a 2XL, my 6 Pro has been amazing. I can't say I've noticed framerate drops, even if they are there, likely because it's still better than my 2XL had. Yes, the fingerprint reader can be slow. Maybe once the latest update rolls out, MKB's experience will improve. The fact that I haven't had the same problems, however, makes me wonder if there's something he's running that I don't that is causing the problems. The ONLY truly annoying issues I've had is that I sometimes have to hit the power button to turn the screen on when picking it up or tapping the screen should do the trick (especially since I have always-on screen mode), and that when in my car the last media player I was using will suddenly "take over" even after I start up another one, sometimes even when doing something mundane like changing the volume on my head unit.

After many experients I found a few ways to improve the finger print sensor speed. 1. Put your most used finger -- in my case, right thumb -- first in the list of finger prints. 2. put your most used finger twice. 3. Turn on "lift to wake" and "tap to wake"; consider using "always on display". 4. Use "Smart Lock", especially the on body detection feature.4. Install the Jan update.

Pixel 6 quirks I experience additionally to the ones you pointed out:
-The screen wakes up during a phonecall, and your ear pulls notification panels down, or touches buttons on the sceen etc. so you sometimes mute a person you're having a call with.
-Sometimes when I answer a call nobody can hear me unless I change to loudspeaker and then back to phone again.
-Phone once got SUPER HOT during a Zoom call and it shut itself down.
-My model in particular isn't perfectly flat. It rocks the top left/bottom right corners when laying on a table and touching the screen.
But as I said, these are additional, I have some of the same problems mentioned in this podcast. I have a Pixel 6, not a Pixel 6 Pro.

In fact, Google's real big problem is always wanting to save money at the hardware level and always taking the cheapest quality possible, thinking that the software will be able to compensate for.
Yes it's true software is very important and can compensate in some cases, but having quality hardware from the start is the best.
And when I analyze, I have the impression that Google's problem with Android 12 is that it (Android 12) has been optimized for the Tensor (actually a renamed Exynos).
The problem is that it's brand new processor for Google engineers who have always worked on Snapdragons and above all what many people pretend to ignore is that most apps on Android are optimized for Snapdragons and not Exynos.
The proof is that Samsung, which is used to optimizing its Exynos smartphones, has fewer problems on Android 12 than any other Android manufacturer.

Been a hardcore pixel user since the 1, but yeah, the bugs and issues really do drive you away.
My 1 was fine, my 2 was fine, the 3 had a hardware issue with the Camera that prevented it from working, thankfully I was about to get out of the phone and get a replacement.
My 4 was stable but had tons of software bugs since 2020ish, do not disturb was a big one, and lately the past few months, since upgrading to 12, was insanely buggy/laggy, and it wasn't the phone being 'old' either, as sometimes it would work perfectly fine, and others it wouldn't.
Example; I got a phonecall while driving, but it wouldn't display the call, super laggy, just ringing, I exit navigation after the ringtone ends, re-enter navigation, and all of a sudden its working perfectly fine when the person calls back and I'm able to see who's calling, answer, and its fully functional.
The entire maps/youtube music situation is a lag-fest too.
I had skipped the 5 because it was basically a 'downgrade' from the 4, or certainly not a flagship, so I kept it for a generation.
I just recently upgraded to the 6 due to the lag from my 4, which again, is primarily software, which I only did because honestly finding a 'better' phone wasn't really worth it, they all had cons that for me made the pixel worth it, even if it had bugs, or they were way more expensive that the 6, which made it harder to justify buying.
I wanted to go Sony, but at double the price, I didn't know if it was justifiable, so I just stuck with 6 for now.
If you're not in the google eco-system though, its worth it to go with another option.

One just not so much (the pixel). The pixel yard will get a lot of maintenance though, so we have to stay tuned. Samsung's yard starts real pretty and gets forgotten after about a year and a half.

We both upgraded this year, mine because I felt like it but my friend's battery could last for about 3 hours, screen had multiple stress fractures from the curve, was unbelievably slow, and had gotten its last update EVER in August. Samsung's the most polished Android experience but it's not perfect - Apple will win on software longevity every time (even if they aren't perfect phones either). I decided to skip the 6 for reasons (don't want tio early adpot to tensor, didnt like the chin-bezel, think the pro should've offered more) so I'm on a z flip 3 now, my first Samsung. It keeps forgetting previously connected devices, mainly my car. Drives me mad as I jump in the car then a message pops up to pair with my phone, I go into the phone's Bluetooth and yet again the connection has disappeared and I have to pair again. Or it'll be the permission to share contact option that keeps disabling by itself. This I believe isn't a pixel 6 problem though as I was having this issue with my Pixel 4xl before. So Android already has many bugs and when adding another UI on top of it from Xiaomi, Realme, etc, it gets worst but Samsung and Oneplus probably fixed some of them from their UI

@Yash O All Operating systems have some level of bugs. I am a new iPhone user and I assure you that iOS bugs are not that noticeable compared to android 12. The HW to OS integration with apple is very mature. Let’s wait 4 years down road and see if apple still purposely throttles down their devices. Regarding Oxygen OS, correct me if I am wrong but I was under the impression that for the US market OnePlus devices would still operate on oxygen.

I must have a unicorn P6P. I have none of the issues mentioned here since Oct 31st. I also sideloaded the Dec update with no issues. I get that people are having issues, but so far I've not had any complaints at all, aside from adaptive brightness on all of my Pixels since 2XL, but that's their software.

Nope mine's been fine too. I don't think they're any worse than any other phone, probably even better. They get judged more harshly because there is a lot less of them so the ratio of buggy ones is higher. Apple and Samsung have thousands and thousands of phones that break screw up and catch on fire (yes apple too!!) but out of tens of millions of phones in the field, a few thousand seems like nothing. The grand total of issues I've had are one time I was using maps and I tried to open the camera and the screen was blank so I had to minimize maps and use the camera shortcut again. Also I was able to see the lines on the screen when you press the power button if it's off but that's a complete non-issue because why would I ever press the power button when my phone is off except to turn it on? And why would I care what my screen displays or doesn't display before it boots? I'm actually on the December update over the air. I apparently got it before it was pulled. In the U.S.

I'm returning my Pixel 6. The display, the screen colors are just something I can't get past. Overall, it's just not a polished, complete product. Trying to pre-order Galaxy S22 Ultra but site isn't working.

Isn't interesting that if we draw a parallel between Microsoft and Google as prolific and pervasive software companies in the respect that they can't execute on smart phone software? Both have made some very slick smartphone hardware as of late and yet, the software is continuing to be a poor level of coordinated effort? I think the really compelling question is why? Why can't these two software behemoth's execute to this level of consumer need? It should be a layup for both of them, and yet, here we are with RUclips's most watched personal tech influencer getting to the point he just trashed Google!!!! That is awful, especially when he like Pixels? This is a corporate discipline issue on Google's head. Kind of pathetic.
