The production Lee made of trying to convince Rob that there were actually 9 different pedals is distilled British comedy
Robs expression was freakin priceless. I think I need this pedal
Loved it. Rob’s reaction was the best! Now it’s the Captain’s turn.
The best segment of the channel without a doubt... more blindfolded for life hahahaha
"Oh wow I didn't know we were doing that one! " lol acting 100
BEST. VIDEO. YET. 😂😂😂
VERY SMART IDEA :) ! I KNEW WHAT HIS FACE WOULD DO ! AND WHAT WOULD RESULT MOUTH DROP HAHA !
Challenge Idea: Budget Rig Per Genre - Set a budget based on a UK level that would get you things at the level of a top of the budget Squier or mid-level Epiphone and something like a Boss Katana. Then you need to build a rig for various genres, country, classic rock, blues, metal, etc.
When will the More-Gain Freeman t-shirts be available? 😉
The 8th one reminded me of Hammett's sound for some reason... He did use a TS, but way before the Keeley mod one... And I was also talking about... let's say 1990-1998 era of Metallica... That more twangy sound he had.
Why is the back of that whiteboard so reflective? It’s basically a mirror
What song is he playing at 14:20?
26:01
Anyone have an idea what Pete's les Paul is ? Model and year of manufacture?
I've just seen it's a classic my bad😂 but what year would it be?
Playing a half-hour joke on your friend on RUclips......priceless.
Joke's on you. There are 9 different circuits in this pedal.
I just googled photos of "red tube screamer" to see if it's a real thing.
Biggest mistake of my like.
I'm at my job.
Ironically the images were all clean for me but the videos section definitely wasnt lol.
😂
Idan Shahar i googled red tubescreamer and everything was sfw. But at the top, google said "Do you mean red tube screamer?" And clicking that changed my results IMMENSELY.
ffs I shouldn't have done that
Idan Shahar 😂😂😂😂 legendary!
I like them all....! Especially the green one!
and other green one sounds pretty great!)
maron tesla and the green one after that other green one was pretty good sounding too!
"Moregain Freeman"
Peter Boström or should he say "moregain Friedman"?
he is my cousin
shouldn´t someone actually copyright this as a pedal name? I would buy it, especially if it sounded like the last one they had
fo sho get on it
Yes... And on the 3rd pedal....
Rob’s face at the end totally Epic 😅
Chappers, Mind blown!
Priceless
Good timing, I've got a Bonsai getting delivered today. Can't wait to use it!
Why is that good timing? wouldn't you have wanted to see this before you ordered it?
@@boggeshzahim3713 : It would also be a good thing if the demo reassured dude he made the correct choice. :)
How'd you like it, Ross? I have one due Saturday.
@@boggeshzahim3713 : Just to wrap up loose ends I love mine. Definitely hits a great range of Tube Screamer tones. I only had a TS808 re-issue to A/B it against directly but it is extremely close in tone. Not everyone likes Tube Screamers of course but if you're a fan this is a great pedal that offers a ton of subtle variation in the Tube Screamer range. My amateur rating : 9.3\10
They like $400 in Australia, think I'll give it a miss.
T-shirt idea, Rob with a finger in the air as if signaling a waiter, chat bubble "More gain please", while i'm personally not a huge fan of high gain, id totally rock such a shirt.
Not a fan of high gain... 🤔 do you like fuzz? Or a your a jazzer? Ambient shoegazer?
👞 🤩
That was fascinating! One of your best. Josh at JHS must appreciate that you did exactly what was intended... you saw each mode as it's own clone. I really enjoyed this ride. Thank you!
Friedman should release a high gain amp called More Gain Friedman they are known for there great names 😂😂
Rob Easthope
The Smallbox is like a higher gain SD.
Simple: Morgan head. Friedman Cab - Morgan/Friedman. Unbeatable tone! (for scoring documentaries at least)
You still can't beat the Friedman Pink Taco 20 :)
Hopefully they can spell and punctuate better than you, Rob E! (And people complain about immigrants!)
tagline: "More gain freed, man."
"Oh, that's a classic...is that one made in America?" Awesome-the Captain should have been a politician! :)
I'm not proud of how long it took me to realise what was going on here
😂
Whelmed needs to find it’s way onto an Anderson’s shirt. Perhaps: Anderton’s, taking you from whelmed to overwhelmed since 1964
I just started watching but I know for a fact Pete doing the DgenerationX crotch chop is gonna be the highlight no doubt
No joke, Pete doing the SUCK IT thing made me bring up the song and learn the riff
Can't deny it's a damn good theme
Been watching these videos for years but I hadn't seen this one. Just watched this immediately after watching todays video with Josh Scott and I'm not sure I've laughed this much at a video in a good while! And such a perfect way to demo the pedal, love JHS stuff. You guys are great, thank you for the years of laughs and demos, hope to come to Andertons someday!
John Mayer just posted a picture on instagram stories saying everyone should have the this pedal
and with that they closed the book on rock and roll
He also thought it was a great idea to be a creepy stalker
Dave Whatever go ahead! People hate great guitar players all the time
@Dave Whatever lmao that's the most pointless comment I've read
Dave Whatever so you’ll not be playing any guitar then? Or do you mean stay a virgin? Lol
great way to disorient rob bahaha
Searching on google for red tube screamer gives extremely different results from videos to shopping. Search carefully.
Joshua Isom AHAHAHAHAH
I'm weak!!!😂😂😂
It’s like every other blindfold challenge was made to lead up to this one. Been setting this one up for ages, building trust, and now you can NEVER DO IT AGAIN. Grand!
30 seconds in and I know already it's a great video! Rob's reaction is at 30:20 by the way
The slow-mo head turn...watched that like 10 times laughing my ass off. Priceless.
Excellent video! Next up; compair the real versions of these pedals and see if Rob can get the same score.
The real ones always will sound different to this one
@@the.communist sayyyssssssss... you?
ruclips.net/video/MZQlK0qUqek/видео.html
That was, without doubt, the best pedal demo I have ever seen. Great job as always gents!
I dunno... the Korg Miku demo they did was pretty damn good lol
@@rockerseven I will accept that. Miku rules.
Great video guys!! you should never stop doing this!!
Thank you Nacho... And we won't :-)
Imagine spending $3000 on a guitar just to tune it every 5 minutes lmao
... and between those 5 minutes playing it out of tune!!
Most likely just from putting new strings on and not stretching them enough
A down-tuned les paul is always going to sound flubby because it’s already pretty short scale and slinky at standard tune. Not sure why he was drop tuning it.
@@therollband1290 because he’s Rob Chapman and that’s what he doesn’t
That crotch chop. Might as well call him Peter HHHonore. #DGenerationAxe
Or the Heartbreak Dane
Questo di anale
That's just freaking awesome! Ya gotta love Rob's reaction at the reveal! You guys may have made me buy a Bonsai! How can you go wrong?!
You can't.... :-)
Nice one guys - the look on Rob's face was priceless... :-) I actually liked the TS-10 clone and the JHS mod too...
The only type of screams I hear these days are from the cage that I've kept Bobby locked in down in the basement for the last six years
+Hank Hill I love you man. :D Always nice to see ya on the gearhead channels!
Jesus Hank, that's dark
Yeeup
sumthin ain't right with that boy
Did you punish him after he try summoning Belial?
Good lord that Les Paul can’t stay in tune for more than 5 seconds.
That's how you know it's a genuine Gibson
That was half an hour well spent. Robs reaction was priceless
Two words... Strap Locks
krulty Questo di anale
Every time Rob asks for more gain take a shot... on second thought, don't do that. Drink Responsibly.
That is more useful as helping you decide which pedal to get, rather than as the pedal to actually buy. Or are there really people who need a different ts for each song/gig???
It's nice to have options
This is an entertaining way to demonstrate all subtle differences... well done.
Now do a blind test of the JHS Bonsai vs all the actual pedals it is trying to sound like.
Have both hooked up through a splitter, and let him switch back and forth as he wants, and see which he thinks is better.
Just mix up the order of whether you plug the JHS or the Original into channel A or B.
Lee: Which one dies?
Rob: Yes
Actually pretty accurate
I have two SG's from the early 2000's, a 61 reissue and Gordie Johnson signature (Google it, nice guitar), and they never go out of tune. I've had one sit for months and be in perfect tune when I pick it up. What's up with this Les Paul?
Rob's your uncle! Right? That's a thing you guys say over there, right? Like "plectrum" and "scratch plate"? (No, I will never bore of these wonderful cultural differences.)
Dirty Shirley wins this challenge. Easily!
LeTTaRS isn't it just lovely
Your avatar is gonna haunt me the rest of my days.
Truly one of the best 20w heads around.
3:25 "Just push the tip in"
tube screamer clone for the price of 2 tube screamers!
Im sure sounds arent exact to the real ones
*9 ts clones
You should put a green sheet behind the board and do funny things with it! :)
They used green screen stuff a while ago. Check the Bill Kelliher ESP Signature review for examples.
The JHS Bonsai is a “No Brainer” 9 different Tube Screamers for the price of one. The same goes for their Big Muff pedal ( Muffuletta )
This takes me back around forty years when I was an AM at a music store.
Every day around 4:00 p.m. all the young guys would show up and noodle - stop - noodle - stop - noode - stop. This would last until mom had dinner ready and off they would go. That's what I would hear every day from years (and ten times as much on Saturdays for eight hours straight).
If I ever wanted to relive those days, I would loop this one video endlessly, turn the volume down a bit and then spend my time counting thousands of small random objects and writing down the quantities.
Need a delay called "Captain's Log"
Why does Rob play everything in Drop D? He seems opposed to standard tuning...
Maxon TS808 !!!!!
Unfortunately they didn't have one . Hmmm....in fact they only had ONE .
Well done to The Captain for his poker-face throughout! Give that man a BAFTA!
This pedal is almost always on for me. Either this or the Morning Glory!
24:30 was know your gear. Phil McKnight. Spell check sux 🐋
totally - didn't catch it while watching
a 2000$ + guitar and never stay in tune wtf
John L Welcome to the wonderful world of Gibson.
Damn! I own 2 gibsons, they stay in tune perfectly.
Andre Benoit Damn. I sure wish the ones I own did! I spend more time tuning the damn things than playing them.
I'm willing to bet the troubles with it staying in tune is due to the setup. After setting up my gibsons and doing final touches to them give them great tuning stability.
So if I buy a $200,000 car I shouldn’t need to have it serviced or maintained? It should be perfect always?
"Via whelmed" this is what seperates these guys from every other gear review video
Amazing! Gotta Love Rob's face when Lee gave him the reveal !😱😎🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Damn Lee!! That was the biggest laughed I had so far! LoL!! Love the vids Rob and Lee!
I'll bet someone has already pointed out that there seems to be some confusion between Banzai and Bonsai here. Bonsai is the miniature Japanese tree thing (illustrated on the pedal). Banzai is the kamikaze death scream (not illustrated on the pedal). It's trees, guys, not suicide bombers.
Hard for me to say if the pedal is really that good when you're using a high-end guitar and amp- I can't tell where the pedals starts and your rig stops- or vice versa. If that makes sense- that rig sounds so much better than anything I have in other words- I can't tell if I'm loving the pedal or the rig- or both.
what's the point of making a demo without a strat and clean fender platform? That's without doing any comparison between the JHS and the others Ibanez TS circuits . This time the test is a Fail!!! Sorry
The fact that jhs can do stuff like this and actually make it profitable makes every other pedal company look bad. When they do multi pedals they take up half the board unless they are digital, and even then sometimes the digital ones are massive too. We need more of these. It would be cool if they made analog versions of the uafx pedals. Though the tape echo might make it a little pricy.
So in summation.
The best Tube Screamer on the JHS Tube Screamer is the JHS Tube Screamer.
Rob's reaction was so satisfying! haha. I love how hungry/tired/dispassionate he was and then you dropped the ball on him. Great content!
Paul Kossoff walks into Andertons. Guy at the counter asks, “What can I do for you?”. Paul replies “my guitar tone just isn’t right, it’s not crunchy enough, there’s not enough bite!”. “Ahhhh...” replies our friendly Andertons assistant. “You need more gain Free man”. We’ll get you a JHS Bonsai.
I took the easy way out and got the Mini Tubescreamer... love the mini
Ahhh the good old days with Chappers and the Captain... clearly buggering off down the pup before making these video... this is evidenced by Lee's need to take slash!
His reaction is priceless! One of your best videos I’ve seen!!
What happened to the music is win video?
It was a live stream... Bad quality so we decided to take it down...
That’s too bad. I hope you all had a good time guitaring anyway...
compare this to the original pedals.
3:25 "Just push the tip in." Incidentally, this video had the best reveal ever!!! You can only get away with it once, though. And it was fantabulous.
Rob/Lee was the riff/sequence at 14:15 from the Rob Chap band? man please what was that , that was amazing
Thanks for the reply and tip my friend will do :)
Yep! :-)
That riff is seriously tasty. Any idea where we could get the audio / tab online? Thanks!
*"NOOOOOooooOOOOOOoooo!!"*
why take down the music is win Collab
Kane Alder it was a live stream I think
but when it came up on the channel its said it was taken down
Kane Alder they had to because the quality was bad
just to clarify, the OD1 is, in fact contrary to what they called it here, NOT a tube screamer clone. It was around before the tube screamer was invented. Its an asymetrical clipping pedal, in contrast to the symetrical clipping of the TS style pedals, and sounds best set to a lower gain/ higher output level setting , to push an already crunchy amp tone, not a clean amp. They really didn't know how to set the OD1 for its true potential. A better test would have been to gain up the amp to a good thick crunch, turn the pedal gain down and max the level on the pedal, then turn up the pedal gain until it is boosting the output level to the amp considerable to push the amp input that's the customary way people who love the vintage OD1s use them.
Also, at one point during the OD1 demo, Chappers asks for "less gain and a little bit less tone". In fact, the tone knob on the Bonsai is inactive in OD1 mode since the original Boss Overdrive OD1 pedals had no tone knob(Only drive and level).
It's bonsai, not banzai. Totally different atmosphere and mood.
Otherwise GREAT!
what is the "i like to do dat" a reference to?
Rob’s face... priceless. Absolutely priceless.
I'm frothing over using one with the Two Notes Le Clean and Torpedo CAB for recording. Endless tonal-options!
Love these videos! Content and editing is legit!
LOVED this blindfold challenge! Rob's face at the end was priceless.
So the best tube screamer is most definately Green
My wife keeps yelling at me what could be this funny in a guitar product review video! 🤣
How about you showcase the rig that is created by combining all the winners of those videos. Like the guitar + amp + pedals that won each of these. Should result in your ultimate rig! Or should it... :D
I didn't realize until the end that the pedal had different modes. I totally thought Rob was just giving different scores to the same sound! And I was very confused why those other pedal names were on the scoreboard.
10:15 THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID
Picked one of these up... live in the same town as JHS. Only a handful of their pedals excite me, this is one of them. Great demo you mad lads!
"Let's do the time warp again!"
Love your vids. Please note that the pedal you make BEFORE the penultimate pedal is called the antepenultimate pedal!!!!
Omg Rob tune the guitar 🤦♂️
Oh my god... The nerves in my arms twitched when the LP dropped...
You know that reflex-feeling we... well... most of us have (not so much the stoners).
