Man this does a great job of cloning these various OD pedals. I still think I probably like the SD 805 a little better, but this thing is very versital.

I noticed that the legendary Paul Gilbert has the Bonzai on his pedal board. To get all of these sounds in one distortion box is super nice. I have owned vintage TS9's and boy do I miss them. The Bonzai pedal will suffice nicely. I'm picky as hell, but I think it is worth having for sure.

By the way very nice job on the video comparison here, The audio is clear. The subtle differences can be heard and felt. Note that I am not listening to this through a telephone or a my crappy laptop speakers, but very flat studio monitors.

Could you do this same idea but with the muffeleta? Or however you spell it. It’s insane how close these are. To my ears, they are perfect replicas

Original Boss more bass and glassy distortion , original ts808 more bass, original ts9 same but bit glassy distortion and original ts 10 less mid high. This for my ears... but this pedal is very great solutions.

i prefer the compression of the 808 over the bonsai, but it’s cool that the bonsai allows for bigger transients. not many tube screamers or their clones do that.

I have this pedal and it is fantastic BUT the originals sound sweeter. They are clearer, less wooly and gritty. My ts-808 is nothing special and sounds better than the setting on the bonsai. But feature wise? Bonsai is a no brainer ..even just for the Keely and JHS settings alone. ( and the od-1)

The amp has alot to do with it. Most tubescreamers sound super similar

The originals sound sweeter. close your eyes and feel the difference. Bozai is a tad boxier in the mid. Still a great pedal.

Why 5 versions twice and not all 9 versions once!?!?
    Grrr

I mean if we are comparing, yes the originals have a certain sweetness I don't think the Bonzai has captured. Even so, the Bonzai rocks wonderfully with most any amp. Look at the videos of people using it with a variety of amps. The tones they are capturing are wonderful.

@@jeremystone2658 Eric Johnson can tell the difference between batteries in a tube screamer just by listening.....was tested over and over again prooving that he could. I can listen to most any noise natural or mechanical and tell you what note i am hearing. I don't even perfect pitch either. The difference is the person listening and what they can distinguish. For anyone comparing I suggest closing your eyes. That takes you out of your head.

@@jeremystone2658 To be sure....I have the Bonzai and some old Ts's. Its better for those who cannot hear a difference because then they don't have to be bothered by it. Subtle is subtle and it don't matter to everyone.

Maybe you are right. I've been a violin player since I was a kid (with a perfect pitch), and I play electric guitar just for fun. Frankly, it's hard for me to tell the difference between these tube screamers. Basically identical :) And it is weird to me that people worry about such little tone things when it comes to electric guitar.
But I didn't mean to patronize you in any way brother. Stay safe!
