I live on only Social Security disability, because I am blind, nobody will give me a job, because I am blind, I waited over three years for subsidize housing in Florida, a friend of mine, waited six years, and moved into the same complex were on that, and it took them six years to get in. So they’re not the only ones. It’s all over the United States.
When those apartments are restored , most will go to family and friend's.
Yes, the family and friends of people who work there. I know this bc I briefly worked in housing and saw it first-hand. Sometimes they will pull from the waiting list bc they have to, but many times it’s who you know.

So they spend millions or billions to pay for hotel stay and support for immigrants but can't afford to fix these apartments to turn over, makes no fricken sense.
Nycha gives you a list of vacant apartments but they do not give you the place to live in I have proof

I know apartments in the RISEBORO housing management company that have been vacant since it was renovated and constructed in 2016 in Brooklyn. There's no one showing the apartments and no one renting the apartments. It's now 2023 and the construction and vacancy have been available since 2016 which is crazy. Then Riseboro is a subdivision of NYCHA and they have a follow-up and severe issue with Building management within the Riseboro system that stems from a problematic woman who fails to do her job and is named SONYA.
They will be given to the criminals who broke the law by crossing illegally into our country.
They saving those apartments for the illegal immigrants not for the American citizens!!!!!
Yes, this is exactly how it is. I almost applied for NYCHA in 2018. I learned then that it’s a 5-10 year waiting list and you have to reapply every two years to stay on that list. In 2019 I entered a homeless shelter and after 2.5 years got an apartment through a different agency.

I’ve been waiting a transfer into a smaller 2 bedroom from my 5 bedroom for 7 years! And they got apartments just sitting there. A larger family would be perfect in my Nycha apartment but they won’t transfer me to a smaller place and it so annoying
Its a bureaucracy issue and skilled contractor issue $$$.
This is so fuckin disrespectful they never keep up with applications I been on their wait-list for 11 years I follow up never got nothing
As a former employer, I quit the agency because I found it ironic that I helped people find affordable housing but couldn't afford to live in the city. I say that to say they're understaffed.
Two thirds of project people don’t pay their small rent payment utilities are included they seem to want everything free , I’m hearing project people are renting out rooms and the whole apartments this needs to be exposed the city is being screwed and it seems to be allowed.

@@Frugal_grannyI once answered an add for a $500 room and it led me to the projects in Harlem. I went inside and saw first-hand that other people were subletting too… and there were holes in the walls, broken windows, and bugs crawling around.

nycha sent me a vacant apparent list to choose from explain why I am still not living in the apartment I picked. I have the proof I sent it to channel 7 need website make sure you keep speaking on what NYCHA does when you have the proof to speak on it. I sent proof so please broadcast that proof.
What if those on waitlists offer to fix the apartment up to bring it up to code? Czn they get in sooner?
No one wants to live in NYCHA projects apartments. I grew up in the projects. The whole point in life is to get out of the projects.
They want in I know a girl that pays $250 bucks for 3 bedroom apartment.

@@adamblack6867they have ways of calculating the rent to be soooo low. I knew someone who’s rent was $56 for a one-bedroom apartment. Lady took her kid to Disney World!
In the same building, another lady’s rent was $150 a month. She didn’t pay it for a year. One day they locked her out, so she went to an agency to pay the arrears. After a month she was allowed back in. And with all the money she saved on rent, her kid never had a coat.

I have so little faith in the government
They need to get rid of the faircloth amendment and build more public housing developments to ease the affordable housing crisis. The politicians need to get it together and build more affordable government housing programs instead of doing tax credit housing programs which do not even help with easing the affordable housing situation.
Just like landlords who are under strict rent control which means not enough money coming for the state/city for the upkeep also.
Also too if you do get an apt in NYCHA be very aware that alot of these people have lived here their whole lives, theyre some of the most suspicious, territorial, hostile and overly dominant people ive ever seen because theyve lived here forever and feel like they own city housing and I honesty regret even accepting an apt in NYCHA. I would just let people know waiting, its not worth it and maybe you can get lucky somewhere else
