Some options to stabilize without stabilizer would be to use Terial Magic on the towel, or do several coats of heavy starch.

I love this! Do you know if the tea/coffee cup is on the M7?
I'm not sure but you can look in the manual (it's also on line) and the very last few pages show all of the stitches on the machine.

Please give more info what & where to purchase fabric for the towels
This is just regular tea towel material that you should be able to purchase from your local quilt shop or even in kitchen stores (regular tea towel will work).
What machine are you using?
