    This is most enjoyable video on tourism in Korea I've ever seen on RUclips. And honest one. No pointless admiration repeated, like I love kimchi, I love this etc. I think that attitude is really helpful for Korea, my country and that's true fun to watch.

    The Hokkaido Hitchhiking series was so compelling that I had to finish it before getting to your Seoul series. One thing that became obvious is this video is that you, Eric, do some pre-editing in your head before you actually sit down and put the clips together--a masterstroke of experience! On the train from the airport, the graphic behind you made me think you were in a "Ladies Only" car. Do they have those or was it just some rando graphic? While the idea, to me, of eating dog is beyond comprehensible, you handled the situation with great tact but authenticity. (I did put my canine companion in another room while I played that segment.) If I found myself in that first market, I think it would be pretty hard to leave--it looked like a Disneyland for food!

    K&E: I enjoyed your videos with muse. I used to do quite a bit of business travels to Asia. As to Seoul, two things I noticed vividly. Back in 1990 to 2000 I stayed at the plush Inter Continental. One time was just right before those G8 meetings, the hotel was swarmed with so many Korean stern-faced plain clothes, while on the outside you'd find very charming police women with Uzis. Never kid with the pretty ones. The other is the US Embassy was heavily guarded by two walls of Korean guards with clad protection. When they changed guards, it's quite a scene like human centipedes moving around the guarded buildings.

      One trade secret: the Kimchi we get in the states is quite different from the authentic Korean Kimchi. The difference is in the soil where the cabbages are grown. However, I was told Korea was short of cabbages, so they had to be imported from China.

      I had the privilege to visit Samsung a few times and ate at the corporate cafeteria. It's quite good. Now here is the interesting scene. All their men's rooms and lady's rooms have English vocabulary posted. You can't miss it. Samsung requires the employees to take English test every month. The twist to the story is the HR office change the posters about three times a day. That's would encourage the workers to pay attention when they go to a bathroom break.

    Hi Guys, I start watching your videos a couple month ago and I realy enjoy it. One reason why I like it so much is because you spend a lot of attention of the different foods and I love asian food in particular japanese food because my wife is from Japan but we both live in Germany at the moment and unfortunately it´s not very exciting here when it comes to japanese food or asien food in common.(Sorry for my poor english skills) . How ever , keep on going and I hope you will have a good time where ever you are. I´m looking forward to see more it! Is there a part 2 of the Korea trip?

    They are (red beans)sweet beans, just no additive sugar. They are called 팥죽, red bean porridge. It is either salty side, or sweet side, depends on regions. It is usually sweet. They are same beans that goes into those Japanese Dorayaki, the adzuki beans. The sweetness that we usually taste from that beans are actually from sugars that had been added to it.

    Loved this. BTW, I love how you delicately and diplomatically handled the "I didn't see hooves; I saw paws" situation. Just like the cockfighting in the Philipines, their customs may be upsetting to some of us, but if we're a guest in their country, we must respect their customs. Ok, so I watched this video last night, didn't really have anything to comment (that other people haven't already said) other than YAY the Seoul vids! Ended up falling asleep at the beginning of the endcard so I did't watch until just now when Kyde is explaining (during the 2nd question) about how she plans things, and so I didn't realize until just now that I am basically Almost Exactly Like Kyde when it comes to planning things X'D My mom and I Just got back from a 2 week long road trip from here in SoCal up to Idaho (via the I-15/90) to go visit fam we have up there that we almost Never see, and we didn't have any time on the way up to see anything in Salt Lake City or St. George, Nevada (neat town that we bookended our stays in), and so on the way back is when we saw some things in those two cities, and I did the Exact Same Thing that Kyde did the night before in each. We had gotten travel books from AAA, and I stayed up late the night before SLC especially looking up stuff on the internet: what Exactly we would probably want to do based on the couple hours we had, where to park, where to eat, what the times were, what to see in the 1 area we were gonna be in, and so by the next day I had a general idea of where everything was in my head, and had basically planned everything out.. So Funny XD ^_^

    ATMs are a bit modernized. Some of them use touch screens, some of them use buttons. Most of them are full color LCD Screens but they're all bulky machines with one screen and they're grey. Most of them don't work when you need them to though.

    A number of years ago I used to hang out with a bunch of Chinese grad students who went to the same university that I did. They used to throw wild parties, and at one of these I was fed dog, or at least that's what they told me. I did not ask where the dog came from (but in the states there are probably only three options - a stray, the pound, or Fido). What's interesting is that apparently the dog's color makes a difference in whether you should eat it or not.

    Actually, the Koreans are already being stationed on those islets that you talked about. The islets have been under Korean control for a long long time. You can't travel to those islets directly from Japan. You have to enter the Korean mainland first. It's Japan who's demanding those islets, which is why this issue between the two countries keep continuing.

The 6 items I got weren't too big, but she put those things in a red plastic gift bag, then put that in a normal plastic bag, saw my towel and placed that in a huge Kiddyland bag. So I walked in with just one bag for my towel and I came back out with three more bags. Killings all the plastic trees in the universe.

      When you came back to the States, did cashiers ask you for a bag and told you it was 10 cents? It's rampant in California.

    Hey, go by and visit that big soft dogs tail or whatever it was in Tokyo. As for the bits in this video, I believe it was Laos or Vietnam which was where at some road side stall was where one can look at the dogs head and body well cooked. Clearly, where there aren't any chickens for sale the next meaty thing gets cooked up. Though, it looked ok'd like a pit bull. Which ironically thrive in the ghettos throughout America. Thus, I doubt if any ever ended up in a BBQ pit in Chicago or Detroit. But, it is a stocky animal which has no problem chew up little kids for the hell of it.

    Hey - I'm not really keen on the Patreon model of paying 'per video', but would like to make individual contributions when I am able to do so. Is there I way I can do that? I am keen to support you guys - love your videos. Also, often my favourite parts of your videos are watching you guys try new foods. I'm from Australia and I know you have fans from all across the world. Have you considered doing other food testing videos if fans sent you foods from their own countries. ie. I can send some Vegemite!

    • @kydeanderic
      @kydeanderic  8 лет назад

      Hi Catherine, Thanks so much! Glad you are enjoying our videos. Unfortunately we don't have a way to accept packages at the moment...but maybe I should hunt down some vegemite at a import story and surprise Kyde with it, hahahaha.
      if you'd like to make a contribution to our video project the easiest way is via a Paypal link we have on our website. You can use a credit card so you don't need to have a Paypal account. Here's a link. www.kydeanderic.com/index.php#Contributions
      Thanks so much!

      Thanks Eric. I have a paypal account, that's a much easier way for me to donate.
      Definitely worth trying to find some Vegemite - but make sure you only use a little bit. People often hate it because they use too much. Also keep your eye out for TimTam biscuits. I can guarantee Kyde will love those. ;)
      Thanks again for your great videos.

    To my original post, no judgment to cultures that eat different food, it does not bother me, those are just articles I found, and I do believe eric did show DOG being sold for meat. famous was obviously the wrong word, yes I was thinking of china, but still dog was shown being sold as meat in the market.... so if your looking for an arguement I won't be replying any further. sheesh people take a chill pill.

    I really enjoyed kydes response to Eric about the dog meat. If you're in a different culture who's to say what's right and wrong? They're country dogs not domesticated pets we have here in the US. I'm glad you both handled it so calmly and didn't fly off the handle like others would have!

    • @kydeanderic
      @kydeanderic  8 лет назад

      Haha, glad you were happy we didn't freak out, but to be fair to those who do....dogs are certainly kept as pets in South Korea. Maybe not to the extent of western countries, but the concept is certainly not foreign. Hahahah. -E

    Thank you so much for answering my question! ❤️ Also who needs booze when you have Books and Drugs! XD
    Was there a reason why you weren't allowed to eat the candies before leaving Japan? O-o was it just a weird custom thing?

    • @kydeanderic
      @kydeanderic  8 лет назад

      +AnimeStarwind It was because it was bought duty-free, so you can't use it until you are out of Japan's "tax zone."

    • @AnimeStarwind
      @AnimeStarwind 8 лет назад

      Ahh that makes sense. I've never bought anything duty-free before so I have no idea how it works. But it's good to know! 😊
