    One of my roommates is Korean, and this series has been great because he has been able to explain a few things for me.
    A lot of history behind some of these things , and having a good friend from the area has made this series very interesting.

    uneaten food can be used for Recycling. how you might ask? well you can feed the food to pigs. and make bacon. or you can send it to a factory which will turn the food into bio gas. which in turn can be used to fuel busses heat homes or cook more food ;-)

We visited Gwangjang Market a few days ago specifically based on your last South Korea video and we had an amazing time. So thanks! The circle sugar snack is not the sugar block you are thinking of. It is just a sugar and a bit of baking soda. It is called dalgona, 달고나. When I was a kid, it was only 100 won, roughly 10 us cents. There is a reason for the different shapes. If you have eaten it without ruining the shape of the a star, so all the extras on edges of the shape, you can go back and get one for free and the chain goes on. so unlimited if you keep succeeding on reserving shape. The block you are thinking about is Yeot, 엿, Korean traditional snack(Hangwa).

    • @kydeanderic
      @kydeanderic  7 лет назад

      We aren't thinking of normal sugar cubes, they have something very similar in flavor in Japan sold in 100yen shops, but I can't recall the name. Cool they are made with baking soda, maybe we will try to make some at home! -E

    • @danny9880
      @danny9880 7 лет назад

      Oh I see. It seems easy to make because all we need is those little tools, fire, sugar, and baking soda but it is kinda hard. Those grandma/grandpa make them good.. they know how much sugar to put, when to put certain amount of baking soda at all.. Many people fail to make one because they usually put either too much or too less basking soda..

    The plants by the temple are lotus plants. This is very symbolic in Buddhism....a sign of purity. It grows in mud usually and will bloom with beautiful pink or white flowers. Mud symbolizes the negativity of life while the beautiful flowers symbolizes mans goal to achieve purity and perfection

    • @danny9880

      Yeah. Drinking wine in a shot glass can be look weird but drinking wine in wine glasses isn't really northeastern Asia countries' culture. They used to drink their liquors with small bowl, or shot made out of many different materials, ceramics, bronze, and more. and they still do. You probably saw little glass shots for the most of time at restaurants in Korea.There isn't really a word to separate categorize for different types of liquor because most liquor names have a word, 주(Ju)s, which means alcohol, at the end of their names, like Soju, Macju(beer), Bokbunja-Ju(the one you guys just drank, whatever.. say.. if the liquor is made with ginseng, they will call it ginsengju, or 인삼주,

    Uneaten food is biological waste, for composting. well that is how we have. In front of my home we have separate bin for food waste, you can also put flowers and other plants if you want to throw them away.Then recycling company make compost dirt and they also collect gas when food disintegrate and it's then used for heating the city and they use the same gas for powering trucks that collect garbage.
