    When I put up my first load the driver told me mine paid the most on load board. I learned that I only took 8 percent of commission while other brokers took 25-50 percent!! This method helped me have long term success

      You still have to find the balance between profit and good paying loads. Carriers will tell you what they believe, not all brokers pocket 25% and if you were pocketing 25% there is nothing to be ashamed of. Some loads I have done at a 50% markup and the carriers were still well paid. It depends on the urgency of your customers, what you had to do to cover the load and so much more. Carriers need to accept loads that are profitable for them

    I’ve been in the transportation business 30 years..from driver to dispatch, booking loads...With no experience, clients will know, they will eat you alive! You’ll go broke fast! Definitely reach out to someone with experience, willing to at least coach, if they don’t want to join your endeavour.

    I was in restaurant business for 15 years and one things all my chefs taught me was that " I prefer to hire a guy who has never diced an onion than a guy who can do it with his eyes closed "

    I have disabilities, very difficult even to work at a fast food restaurant due to the attire they require lmao I can’t wear a hat and a headset but I can sit on a computer and make phone calls, im 23 and was injured by psychiatric medications when I was 20 so this sounds like a great job to make a decent income to survive with my disabilities

      Hey JZ while this isnt an easy field it is absolutely something you can do with a disability.
      as long as you are in this for the long haul, this is a rewarding industry to join.

    You are right. You hire broker with no experience. They ask driver current location three times a day although gps is tracked. And, ask drivers to set temp at 0 f continous in spite of outside temp is almost cold as inside trailer. Freight brokers are middle men after all. Substantial money are taken away by broker who has working shift and night and weekend off while drivers are working 24 /7 with consistent sleep disruption for check call😅 They do not have morals but greedy by taking advantage of poor driver

      So I am on the same page about being annoying but as a broker I can tell you we are not getting rich off of one shipment in any case. Not all brokers know what they are doing and drivers are the ones who pay for those mistakes which isn’t right. However we don’t take money away from anyone. What we do is no different than a pharmacy selling medication or a restaurant selling food. Shippers don’t like working with carriers directly, some do but an overwhelming majority does not.
      I also will not show sympathy to a driver for doing a job they chose to do. Only for having to deal with inexperienced brokers who cost them money

    Once I become a broker, using a factoring company how long should I expect to wait before my first payday?

    • @freightskills
      @freightskills  Год назад +2

      Using a factoring company or not does not dictate the first pay day. You might get lucky and get a load on your first call of your career or you might call for 12 months and not receive an opportunity. It depends on how much you are will Inc to put into the craft and what your current skill set is
