    Bravo 👏👏 I think the greatest thing to do is exactly that. Have shippers confirm name on the door if all brokers did this for one month double brokers would literally be wiped out because the only way for them to remedy this for the DB side is to give temporary covers to the trucks they dispatch for their doors but they would not be able to keep up because they are moving different lanes with different companies. Let's push this idea everywhere.

    • @freightskills

      Yea the Doorsign mismatch has gotten us out of so many bad situations. I don't think any of the current technology is doing anything to curb the issue as evidenced by the fact that there has been ZERO slowdown in double brokering...only an increase.
      Right now A lot of the tech platforms are just taking advantage of the fact that there is an issue and putting small bandaids that convince some broker's enough to spend their crazy membership fees.
      I don't know what the real solution will be in order to get everyone on the same page but therein lies the challenge of solving this issue.

      @freightskills Thank you! Seems most important to get your message out about updating the brokering tech platforms! Isn’t that a solution???? Just listened to a podcast about this and no mention of updating the software 😭😭

    We had a similar problem on a batch of 4 cross-border loads going to Mexico! Needless to say, it was a hellish nightmare, that seemed to never end, ultimately we got through it without any serious damage! We need a lot more measures, and also legislation to stop double-brokering.

    • @freightskills

      With Mexico there is a chance this was a trans load not a double broker scenario. If you guys were doing a Mexican load for the first time I would have to see all the details but there is a good chance that the problems could have been caused by one or two parties missing steps etc. Mexican freight is never a straightforward mkve

      Unfortunately so many new brokers are so uneducated they will look at that as potential fraud. I would be up front in telling them exactly what you just explained and have the lease contracts handy to send them if they have objections.
      People who have been around in the jndustry will understand your set up 100%. It’s the newbies who will start screaming scam.

    After month or so
    I was trying to dispatch my self one of the brokers told me that I can’t work with them. cuz of 🚩and DB even tho i never had any issues with their loads before. now it been more than 6 months and I still have the issue to book a load with around 40%brokers.

    I am a Box truck owner opporator and have now been black flagged for double brokering. I have had 4 different dispatchers booking my loads OTR. I received a load and it had been taken by someone else, when I tried to get in contact with the broker he said "oh, sorry about that". I didn't get paid and had to deadhead bacck 79 miles home. Approximately 30 days after this incident I have not been able to book a load because I'm told by Brokers that I've been flagged for double brokering!!

    • @freightskills
      @freightskills  7 месяцев назад

      That’s really unfortunate Ross I hate hearing that. Frankly I don’t even look at any of the software out there because I know brokers and carriers just use them as a venting board when they are angry for no reason.
      Has anyone told you where exactly you are flagged? It’s not right that this is affecting your ability to book loads.

  • @lv3575
    @lv3575 10 месяцев назад +1

    Dispatchers aren’t regulated like carriers or brokers. There’s no safer score or carrier 411 for dispatchers. That’s the problem. They have zero ties to the FMCSA or DOT. When that changes, then it’ll weed out a lot of the bad apples

    • @freightskills
      @freightskills  10 месяцев назад

      Yea but there is a place for dispatchers. Most carriers have proven they are incapable of running themselves due to the fact that I've waited over 8 months to get pod's in some cases.
      There just needs to be a network or way to vet dispatchers for both brokers and carriers.

  • @dnell6854
    @dnell6854 11 месяцев назад +1

    Carriers need to figure out a way to dispatch themselves, which will help eliminate a lot of the double brokering, they are literally exposing themselves or hiring someone they know and can trust. and not a total stranger.

    • @freightskills
      @freightskills  11 месяцев назад

      Unfortunately I don’t think that’s the answer because drivers don’t have the time to build the relationship and negotiation skills needed to run themselves.
      SOME not all can’t produce paperwork on time to even get paid right away.

    Something similar happend to us 3 months ago. But this time the carrier delivered the load to a different location where the load was supposed to be sold. At the end, we sent the police. They found the freight and we sent aother truck to get it loaded. We hate when these things happen.

    • @freightskills

    • @freightskills
      @freightskills  9 месяцев назад

      Actually they don’t they hire brokers because they don’t want to deal with the BS that some drivers give them. Imagine having to call 100 owner operators or companies everyday to see which trucks are in the area and able to take a single load? Shippers don’t have time for that.

    • @hoytballard5504
      @hoytballard5504 9 месяцев назад

      @@freightskills so yes I totally agree with what you are saying, however that doesn’t work with everything. Cookie cutter stuff of course. We have customers that demand their stuff is hauled on our trucks. Some situations where we can broker out, but to only key carriers that we are really tight with that know the requirements of the job at hand. Then some customers that don’t care if it goes on our truck or some other carrier. Some things require a strict chain of custody with constant visibility that can’t be upheld but only through in house trucks. Been seeing more of this kind of work materialize as of late. Some of the reasons given by customers are that they have used some non asset based brokers on critical loads and have been let down by the carriers they used.

    Luis the part that I am not clear about. Is why did you have to call Ukraine? Because you said that your contact was in ukraine?
    Clearly this is a bad situation. It's great that you acquired your freight. Which is very important reason that I can see that in questioning the motor carrier that is potentially going to pull your Freight ask them do they own the trailer outright or is it least or rented.
    Then finding out who their contact information is so that you can track it that way also if the motor carrier owns it outright and can prove that and doesn't have tracking on the trailer.
    independently how do you mitigate that?
    Except for just the cell phone but the cell phone is clearly the person that we're taking their word for it entering into this contract that this Freight is going to be hauled. So if someone doesn't have tracking independently separate from a trailer how can we mitigate that and secure that as a SOP in the freight brokers or agents.
    I have encountered once with my academic School that I went to. While having a one-on-one private course. The instructor was pleasant and cordial in general as his demeanor over the few days that I was there. On one particular phone call he had a white Caucasian Young female call in. And the instructor was going off I mean this guy was literally grilling her what do you want why do you want and his sound and Reflections in his voice were extraordinarily aggressive just so you can mentally perceive how this went down.
    I stopped what I was doing which I was several yards from him because there were desks and and we were separated. And I could hear everything I mean I paid attention and he was literally aggressively grilling this woman and she then asked why are you asking me that and she's trying to know certain information by calling in like what's quotes all of this he had already asked her at the beginning who are you with and who do you work for and ask her name and you know standard questions.
    This female worked for Landstar. And what I have experienced and heard from other individuals is that it's sad that such a large corporation as Landstar is actually double broken! And all they do is call in for quotes and then basically use the information that they receive by fax, emails by carrier pigeon whatever method that they get a good proper quote, They end up using it. And that just left a lasting impression when I experienced that in class. I've heard others indicate as such on other social media outlets.

    • @freightskills
      @freightskills  11 месяцев назад

      So the agent in this case was based out of Ukraine. We do almost 1-2 million dollars in freight per year through landstar we have a great relationship with them. They don’t double broker loads they co broker and they will not work with you unless you acknowledge that through a contract.
      Anyone who thinks landstar is doing anything illegal is crazy as they have an extraordinarily thorough compliance and risk management department. One of the best in the industry.
      Trust comes down to the individual people you are working with. In this particular case a carrier gave the load to his landstar buddy and Niether of them had a knowledge of the laws.
      This was a unique situation and we are lucky that 1. We were friends with the shipping location who had video surveillance 2. The offender was located close to Houston 3. The trailer was being leased and that we could see the leasing company who owned the trailer.
      One of the carriers in this debacle is still emailing me for payment and I can guarantee you the conversations I have had on the phone with them sound similar or worse to the conversation you have heard. There is no room to be pushed around in this industry.

    I think its irresponsible to blame dispatchers. I know brokers dont like dispatchers because they negotiate better, but imo brokers have wayyy more info on carriers, and its called double brokering, not double dispatching. Why not blame the criminals who are stealing all this information and go after them, instead of speculating on who is doing it, because if you have that information please share it.
