Put a cover on it. 5yrs ago. My brother took it redid all of it. And does shows. During the rebuild. We found a vid from his camcorder under the seat. It was off the last pass he made. And won a big shot out in memphis. We still watch it sometimes. Miss you pop.

You clearly don't know what you're talking about. That's a 10-71 blower with dual double pumper holley's. That engine is more than capable of 1000+hp on race gas. Even my 572ci would choke up on dual double pumpers.. The carbs alone are taking in 1400 cfm minimum..
If you say so. I've only been professionally drag racing and building race engines since 1969 so who am I to doubt it. It's very easy to claim 1300hp much,much harder to build a motor that honestly has 1300hp on a dyno. I've dynoed these kind of motors where the owner claims this kind of power figures. 90% of the time they are in for a very big disappointment when they see the honest dyno numbers. But, you just keep on believing what you wish. If you listen even the gentleman that owns it says the motor is having problems. It is a very nice car.

It's a good fun car with decent power for the street. Never be ashame to admit you don't know things. When a person can admit that and is willing to listen they will learn the most in the long run.

luke bandt: If you don't have a drilled and slotted intake you'll never make 1300 hp, everybody knows that. Unless you have tapered gaskets with a 3.73:1 gear ratio of course.
ziiofswe As long as the headers are balanced you dont need a slotted intake. And he should be running cross drilled gaskets not tapered. Jeeze any car guy should know that....

For all those "not 1300" comments. Notice the 6-72 or W510 sitting under those carburators? On a mild BBC that thing only needs to turn around 10-14psi to kick out 1300hp (hell, with a good setup 7psi or less will get you 1k+). Those tiny air cleaners don't provide enough restriction to even come close to preventing the blower from making that amount of boost. It's not efficient, but it is totally doable.
I had a 69 nova ss with a 396 that would get side ways like that it was a beast!!! I didnt have a hood for it either nothing like raw power like that at your finger tips!!!

I had a custom K&N type 12" filter that wrapped both carbs and had a hand made sheet metal bottom. I was on the dyno with a mild 509 with an 8-71 at 6-8 lbs of boost it was making 750 hp with no air filters just fresh air duct over carbs. I put those two little air filters on and the engine made 670hp the next pull. 80 hp loss just from little air filters. It takes ALOT of air to make 1300 hp!

My old 67 Mustang/289/325hp/4spd would kick out to the right from a roll w/o clutch. Then a slam into 2nd kicked it to the left all the way through 2nd. Slam 3rd and it's back to the right again for a little. WHAT A FREAKIN RIDE THAT THING WAS !!! I sure miss that car.

Looks like ur Dad was a Cool Dad. That motor would look perfect in my 66 Goat. The rear main seal went. It's a 400. So my thinking is a 383 is needed to fix the seal. Thanks again for the clip

Not 1300 horsepower it would need power adders for that. Not to mention you have to spend about 30 grand to make that out of a big block chevy and have it still be reliable. I would say 500-700 hp for this motor.
sounds good but you need to work on a suspension that will put that power to the ground cuz burnouts dont win any races your front end didnt even start to raise but your tires were going up in smoke.. I had a 72 chevelle with a 500 hp 327 and rockcrusher 4 speed that would have been 5 car lengths ahead of ya in that 2 seconds you stabbed it.but it stuck to the ground like bubble gum... lol

Over jetted .....big difference between a motor set up to race and daily drive ....that's what the issue is cams huge (audible) motor isn't in my opinion set up for what he's doing w the car

Somebody could run air cleaners like that on a engine that makes 1300 hp. Of course the restriction of air flow will reduce hp but it will still run.

Those air flow units is enough for the 1300hp. They may be small but two is enough cause they still can pull a lot of air. They don't have to be big

Real car guys have 8 cylinders and don't run fartpipesor hot air intakes or upgrade bolt on stickers that look terrible and do nothing. 1300 hp doesn't mean 1300 hp from start, idle to red line. It also doesn't mean you're set up to support or make 1300 hp all the time. Usually you make the hi hp dyno run amd tune it back down a bit so it lasts more than 3 miles...

Looks like ur Dad was a Cool Dad. That motor would look perfect in my 66 Goat. The rear main seal went. It's a 400. So my thinking is a 383 is needed to fix the seal. Thanks again for the clip

Not 1300 horsepower it would need power adders for that. Not to mention you have to spend about 30 grand to make that out of a big block chevy and have it still be reliable. I would say 500-700 hp for this motor.
sounds good but you need to work on a suspension that will put that power to the ground cuz burnouts dont win any races your front end didnt even start to raise but your tires were going up in smoke.. I had a 72 chevelle with a 500 hp 327 and rockcrusher 4 speed that would have been 5 car lengths ahead of ya in that 2 seconds you stabbed it.but it stuck to the ground like bubble gum... lol

Almost got killed in a 396 / 375 hp , getting side was is easy in a Chevelle, and you don't need 1300 hp to do it., impressive would be gong straight.

Over jetted .....big difference between a motor set up to race and daily drive ....that's what the issue is cams huge (audible) motor isn't in my opinion set up for what he's doing w the car

No way it's 1300 hp I had a 69 396 SS in 80's and it would get it better than that, let air out of the tires and it would pull wheelies.

When you backed up into the dirt, you covered your tires in dirt, and took off in a dusty part of the road That car has way too much power for hillbilly mistakes.
I could have that much HP, I've seen bbc's on dyno's making 1000 hp NA with one carb.
Nice vid and enjoyed the view. I would guess 700 to 800 hp on a good day with bad tires? You really can't break the rear end with 600 unless it is geared to get loose with undersized rubber. Can't win that way.
