Now ramp that up to ten because you're now in a moving vehicle going 40+ MPH and the firefight is with TWO people you know for a fact have committed murder and are currently shooting at you and innocent bystanders, half of us probably would have already crashed that cop car before we even managed to pull out our gun

Thats just a pathetic excuse for yourself.
@@Alen725yeah guys Erasus would have shot two shots and gotten to confirmed kills thats it cause hes a badass couch potato
In the frames where his face is visible, he appears to be in his mid forties to early 50s. This matchs with the service stripes on his uniform sleeve. I would be willing to bet he learned on a revolver. It explains the thumb over grip under pressure and why he reached for a reload with his right hand. I think under the stress, he reverted to what he is most comfortable and had the most practice with.
That's a revolver grip, someone never got the proper transition training. Thankfully it ended up okay.

A revolver reload, too. You can see him grapple for the cylinder release.

Eddie Luvski When this is properly investigated: It comes down to what would a reasonable person with the same background and training would do in this situation. 17 years on the job, his initial training would be different than today.
So the only judgement I can make is he was cool under pressure, brave and kept up the chase even though he was being fired upon. He was trying to stop people that would commit any crime if they were willing to shoot at an officer!

Cian Mac - you can prepare so reloads are muscle memory. In fact, that is the reason we train so in a situation like this it is automatic. I dont think he's scrutinising the officer in any way, he's just teaching lessons to others in hopes that god forbid they find themselves in a position where firearm tactics come in to play, they will be more calm and logical about it.
On the note of the reload. I understand why he put it in his support hand for a moment because i believe he was putting the car in park and taking his seatbelt off. Doing those 2 things with the gun in his right hand may have been more time consuming and difficult with a firearm in his hand. The backwards mag im guessing was him using his right hand to get a mag out out the mag carrier and the bullets facing away from the belt buckle not towards it. Chance are hes qualified with his mags in that configuration and never had to do it with his dominant hand. Just thought id add my 2 cents for what its worth. Thanks for the videos, these have helped me as a ccw grow
Good thoughts. Hadn't thought of that.
That's some mighty fine detective work there Seano!, two thumbs up.
Nailed it Sean.. Transitios firearm to non dominant hand to put vehicle in park. You can also see he does a cross draw for the mag on the toward left side of his belt.

The phrase "unconscious competence" is huge here. None of us really knows how, in the moment when shots are zinging by, we would react.
If you have ever played a team sport like football/rugby, or if you have played certain video games then you are already tuned to react under the pressure of bodily harm. There have been studies. Ex soldiers have spoken to me in certain games, about how it can give them the same feeling at times. www.city.ac.uk/news/2016/march/video-games-improve-decision-making
I can tell you that the adrenaline is overwhelming, mistakes will be made without a doubt if you are new to the situation, but i know this officer learned some stuff big time and hopefully not but if he ever is in that situation again, he will perform even better. its like your first fight then it gets easier your next, but magnified 100s of times greater. i know the feeling he had after he calmed was pure exhaustion, that adrenaline rush from bullets flying at you and shooting back sucks everything out of you
I don't agree. I believe that there is lot of unconscious incompetence here. Have you heard of the Dunning-Kruger effect? In other words, he doesn't know what he doesn't know. Having been in life and death situations, it was my training that kept my ass alive. Things that you wouldn't think would come to your head, suddenly do, Training that you took three months ago suddenly pops in your head as everything seems to be going crazy. It's the reason ALL elite forces train the way that they do. So that it is all second nature under duress. I can tell you just by his actions, that he has limited training. He was almost panicking. Had that perp had a gun in his hand as he was exiting the vehicle, and decided to engage this officer, This LEO was defenseless. I can't stress this enough, Training is everything. You WILL drop to the level of your training. it's a fact. This officer was just extremely bullshit lucky.

That officer must used to be a revolver guy lol
chun wei Hsu How is this the first comment I have seen about this. That was definitely a revolver two hand grip and an attempted revolver reload before he realized he had his duty weapon.
That's exactly what that was. As soon as he realized he was out he threw the gun to his other hand exactly like you would a revolver. That didn't look like someone who trains with that Glock. Also a little side note: If you look close you see the serations on the slide...That's a old RTF2 gun and he's got that stupid rubber grip over the best textured grip Glock ever made.
Look at the hash marks on the left sleeve. I bet he initially did train with a revolver. In crisis mode, your mind goes to deeply rooted behavior. In this case, when he first learned to fight a gunfight.

I love the break down but at the same time you ignored everything leading up to this point that made the officers reasoning make more sense. The car they were chasing was popping off rounds while driving. they shot at gas stations, pedestrians and numerous shots at the police. They were reckless and did not care if they injured anyone. Did the officer shoot through the glass and use some not so great tactics? yes, but at the same time it was better that way then to have these people continue driving and shoot an officer or bystander. Also, they train shooting through glass in most academies as well in the military. Its not a very used tactic but it is one that some are trained on and this officer very well could have been trained for this situation.
Again I love your videos and break downs and am just putting some more context out there for people who don't know the full story.
O.K.
Glad you mentioned that. It changes my opinion on how the officer handled this incident.
he just points out what could be optimized, thats POSITIVE criticism. he never said it cannot, under no circumstances be done as the officer did.
so it's better to add more lead flying inaccurately by the cop? ok
neckarsulme Yes, this guy had to be stopped. It is more dangerous to have a murder on the lose who is looking for random people to hurt or kill, than some stray shots.
Thank God for those who make a living chasing bad guys daily. And thank God for this particularly brave officer who’s pursuit skills made their escape impossible. Sure, he made some mistakes that we can observe in the aftermath. But, still a hell of a job

And Linwood Johnson - these guys escaping was impossible because of the helicopter following them, but the helicopter wasn't likely to crash into or shoot any of the innocent people on the road.
I’m from India the reason our country is shit is because of no good police and no one follows laws here
How can anyone want to defund the police? This officer has a family yet he is selflessly driving after a vehicle and the occupants are actively shooting at him. He knows that at any moment a stray bullet could come through his windshield and end his life yet he continues the pursuit until the threat is neutralized. Incredible will power and willingness to sacrifice.
VERY well stated. He could have given it a half-hearted attempt and stayed safe. But he didn't, he gave it his all.
How about fund better police training?
not even "continue the pursuit", he took matters into his own hands and exterminated them before another officer or some random bystander could be hurt
Anyone who wants to defund the police are simply morons or uninformed. The issue stems from the fact that the military gives/sells surplus equipment to police departments so this leads people to the mistaken conclusion that Police are over funded and blowing money on buying things like mraps and tactical gear. In reality they get that stuff dirt cheap. There is an argument to be made about how it's not a good idea to militarize the police, but it's just a misconception that they are blowing loads of money on that stuff.
If anything they need better funding for better training. Training is absolutely lacking in many areas/departments which is what leads to a lot of bad encounters. Also physical fitness needs to be taken more seriously for active duty officers. Being in better shape and being able to physically handle your self makes you less likely to jump to lethal force when not absolutely necessary. But most people don't like the idea that this should disqualify most females from being patrol officers or people who grow old and fat on the job.
@@doc-holliday- at least they're smart enough not to pay $800 for a $2 hammer
I think he did a hell of a job! Considering the circumstances.
that officer is very brave. Thank you for your service.
This LEO is a trooper. Being continuously shot at and maintain the pursue. At least a medal or commendation to him.... But John is absolutely on mark about the other technicalities: back stops, glass trajectory deviation, shooting while moving, etc... An indomitable spirit that must be honed by more training.

xMrDaily HD lmao
Easy to say that aiming at paper targets. I thought this officer did an outstanding job. When you get into a grand theft auto (The video game) like situation then you have the right to criticize. Love your channel but no monday morning QB ng please.
Thats why I will always support the police. They are doing stuff like this on a daily basis protecting us
No cop s*** on the daily basis homeboy
Am I the only one that was trying to look over the steering wheel so I can get a better view witch side was the shooter on while I am watching the video lol.
I’ve been in that situation and wouldn’t have taken the risks he did during that pursuit, just about every dept prohibits firing from a moving vehicle unless there is no other choice. He stayed in the fight which is commendable but could’ve gone much different if the rounds discharged during the pursuit ended in collateral damage. Love to see the bad guys lose!! Excellent example of how fast decisions have to be made by LEOs under duress..
But there WAS no other choice. The suspects behavior was much worse. Besides, LVMPD released the video themselves.
RhapidFyre Pit Maneuver?
First time for me seeing an officier shoot straight through his windshield while driving, and I have watched a ton of these!
RhapidFyre- I realize it seems that way for several reasons however there were many other options. Luckily this worked out. I also want to say my intention is to never Monday morning QB here, the officer did what he thought was correct while under fire. He was placed in a very tough situation and his intestinal fortitude is amazing. You may not hear about it but believe me the officers in his chain of command reviewed the video and probably commended him for his bravery, but he was probably warmed at least verbally about not doing that in the future. This will probably be turned into a training video for their academy.
Yonata24 - PIT Maneuver is NEVER an option when under fire. Trying to get right up next to the vehicle and spin them out while taking rounds, as John would confirm, closes the distance. Shorter distance means more accuracy. That's why the officer was so far behind at the beginning - Putting as much distance between them as he could. It was only when he went on the offensive did he get close.
robin212212 - If he would have done that, they would have continued shooting at them even longer. The danger the suspects presented was EXTREMELY higher than the danger the officer, a trained professional, presented by returning fire.
Michael Clark - Absolutely. There are always multiple options, but what we have to weigh (we as in the scrutinizing public) is the action he DID take versus the circumstances, not the action he COULD HAVE taken, as everyone else is throwing out there. The fact is he shot, through the windshield, at dangerous suspects who were presenting a lethal force. The officer's actions ended the pursuit with no death or injury to bystanders. I couldn't ask for more.
robin212212 what if they decide to stop at a mall to try confuse the cops in the crowds. What if they run people over or cause a fatal accident while trying to get away.
Easy to what if this situation to death. End the end we got two bad guys caught and no innocent people hurt.
It's amazing how high stress situations expose all of your weaknesses, and also shows who the heroes are. I was in one of these situations and was totally unprepared to render aid to those who were injured. I hope next time I encounter someone in desperate straits that I will have developed the skill sets to be useful instead of just an observer of other heroic people.
I love the smell of gunpowder in the morning

Guillermo Garraton you don't know shit about me, take a lesson from John and never underestimate your opponent. I'm not an idiot willing to get into an ego battle with a butthurt troll so good day to you sir.
Guillermo Garraton Nigga most people haven’t been in a fucking gun fight.
There are a lot of Monday quarterbacks here. My hats off for the officer I was stressed just watching it. Props to John for the breakdown 👍
Really gives you a new found appreciation for those who serve on the force.
Just subbed last night, great stuff. When I turn 18 in two months I'm being switched to the gas station at my work place, I hope I never get into a bad situation but it's good to have practice and knowledge.
you're never too prepared
NickDaGeek -Nick you're already ahead of the game by watching Johns College of ASP knowledge! 😎
Always be watching, always have a plan.
Even if people accuse you of being paranoid or gung ho-don't let that stop you.
So many situations can be gotten out of, or won just by being heads-up in advance.
At least one of them took the SUV temperature challenge.
I don't understand how chasing a shooting suspect at a high rate of speed is the best option in a situation like this. Doesn't that just put so many many more innocent bystanders at risk as well as the police? As a layperson, it just seems so high stakes with so many more possibilities for tragic outcomes rather than if they stopped the pursuit and worked other methods for tracking down this dangerous person. Can someone explain from the LEO perspective?
can understand ur comment. just my 2 cents about this, since the bad guy was shooting at the cops, so also shooting in public/ other cars, etc. bullets fly everywhere. innocent people can be shot ... they had to act fast, No? also, "MERICA"
@@bartdegryse9345 Well there would have been a lot less shooting if they weren’t pursuing him. He was shooting at the cops, not just randomly shooting at cars before the cops got involved. If they had stopped (or never started) the high speed chase, he would not have been shooting, the police would not have been shooting, and multiple cars would not have been barreling down the road at obscene speeds weaving in and out of traffic and gunfire. The risk to positive outcome on the high speed chases seems to lean heavily toward the risk side. My guess is that the officers actually love the opportunity to get involved in the rush of perusing a suspect, especially in cars. But I would like to hear how police depts justify it, what their thinking/messaging is.
@@kbc1883 it's MERICA. why did you expect with the carrying a gun kinda stuff = P
@@bartdegryse9345 I expect better discernment from the police, is what I expect. High speed chases are not because the 2nd amendment rights. Your “Merica” comments don’t address the situation or questions.
That was terrifying...
You don't fire out of a moving vehicle with one hand on the grip...
Glad there was no civilian casualties...
通り鷹 how many "hands" are you suppose to have on the "trigger"? Last I checked only one finger goes on the trigger.
One hand on the grip in a moving vehicle.
Apologies.
I was simply stating that an officer usually doesn't fire out of a moving vehicle with one hand.
It's why they are trained in advanced driving and gun handling.
I'm stating that it's just good that no one was hurt by a random pothole and a misdirected shot.
A lot of shit happens while driving, I'm just glad that everyone who was in the right or innocent in the video are okay.
@@WEFAHawkStreet everything doesn't always happen like it does in training.

Has to be such a terrifying situation but I have so much respect for those out there that put themselves in front of others to keep us safe, God bless our first responders!
Crazy footage! First time I've ever seen an officer shoot through the windshield
thought windows had better protection for officers
Justin, there is at least one more we've done from a few months ago. You could find it under the Officer Involved Shooting playlist.
Active Self Protection oh thank you, I might have to check it out just in case if I miss some of your videos. Greeting from🇲🇾
Check out Donut Operator. There is a few there too.
Saw a cop kill a teenage girl by shooting through the window well 18-19 years old. Also thankfully I didnt see it in person, it was on the news.
There's a lot of Monday morning quarterbacking going on here for someone who admits that they are not a driving expert. The driving aspect changes everything.
do you know how difficult is is to drive a vehicle and aim your firearm(?) "???!"
"it's impossible!", either handle the wheel or handle the firearm..
you can't do both and expect a good out come..
@@DTO.. I do know. Also, I would consider this a pretty good outcome.
Shooting through his own window was genius.
Yes he should train more with a reload, but otherwise, he stopped the threat.
Didn't the guy with the shotgun stop it? I wonder if this could have gone a darker way if he was solo.
“Attitude has to be in a person’s soul.” Absolutely true. You just have to have it. It can’t be taught. But it is something that one can acquire. It takes an individual desire to form that resolve.
that's the *it,

From day one in the academy we're taught to always have, "The Will to Survive" NEVER give up.
county sheepdog
That's called a rolling gun battle!!!
No doubt this officer had the will to survive and succeed. Imagine how much more effective he'll be when he's better trained in firearms handling. Maybe while he's on Administrative Leave he could get some training from our buddy John.
@Rockwell
I completely respect your & John's comments.
I have the utmost respect for John. I truly believe he he helped save my life from his training videos that I'll share with him as soon as the trial is over... it's a life case.
It's one thing to be on the Range shooting at paper targets that DON'T shoot back vs, being in a rolling gun battle where subjects are taking rapid fire shots at you.
I'm not sure why he was crossing his thumbs are shoved his magazine in the wrong way and even with the wrong hand...
I'm betting that was his first and probably his last encounter to that level... And maybe that's why he made it a few errors.
PinkOld
thank u, Thank You, THANK YOOUUUU...
county sheepdog...why dont the police in every city have hands free radios? Las Vegas is a crime haven; makes no sense not to have hands free radios.
I love your firearm skills advice and ESPECIALLY your emphasis on gun safery. I had gun safety drilled into me practically from birth by my father and can proudly say that I am about as safe as I can be. That being said, guns aren't toys or casual weapons. Like you say "you are responsible for every round".
Anyone else curious about how it ends?
Another dirtbag gets what he deserves. and they lived happily ever after. Lol idk. But I wanna see it too man. Probably some more crazy shit. God I love Vegas
The bad guys died.
It's probably in live gore
In Sweden there is always 2 cops in one car. So one can drive and one can talk, shoot etc.
Hympnotic Wrong....I see two officer in 1 car all day long. Even when I was living in Baltimore where I was born and raised. Your statement is opinionated. Not factual.
There are good and bad things with both options. In this case, it would probably be better with 2 cops in 1 car. But if you have 100 police officers and everyone in each car, then the police can be in 100 different places at the same time. But if it is 2 in 1 car, they can only be in 50 places. If you have the same budget, approximately.
SFH SFH
Things are different in different places. Baltimore is trash that's why, I've lived there for 7 years.
Hympnotic I live in north Idaho and see two cops per car all the time.
Germany used two man cars years ago. One to drive, and one to spray the perp(s) with full auto fire from his MP5 subgun. Not sure how they're operating now. The Polizei were to be feared and for good reason, especially if you were a non-German and being a PITA. Just showing disrespect for authority would get you a beat down into submission.
He's extremely fortunate on many fronts. He didn't wreck, no kids near the school, the perp didn't blast him while he fuddled with reloading his weapon. Has to breathe during his adrenaline rush. That takes active practice.
He needs either a partner, or a hands-free radio, cuz using one hand on the wheel during a pursuit like that is incredibly dangerous.
Yes but he did great didnt he?
Dude obviously had training, coz he handled the car pretty damn well with one hand.
*good logic..

Shawn B,
Have you actually read the story from (Papa) John's POV? He said he DIDN'T want to hire Kanye because he used the "N" word in his music and was only quoting someone else(Colonel Sanders) in THEIR usage of it showing he was not racist. Maybe it was a slip to actually use the word in a quote of SOMEONE ELSE but you're all being ridiculously condemning---this culture is a joke.
I'll take a slice please 😎
He’s definitely a revolver guy.. between his reload and two handed grip
This officer is amazing. He is being shot at, and yet still chases the bad guys. incredibly brave
There's gotta be a better way for these coppers to call a pursuit.
Says the guy whose never called a pursuit
Did you hear the part about he was chasing homicide suspects????????? FYI if you're onto people wanted for murder you DO NOT let them go!!!!!!!! Minor stuff, yes, call it off it conditions get too hazardous, but NOT murder suspects!!
LuvBorderCollies what if they're actually innocent of the murders though?
Andrew- It would be "who's" and I think it looks quite difficult and there's got to be an easier way for them to do it.
BigK there should have been a full stop too, after "pursuit". Also he's driving with one friggin hand ffs! That cannot be optimal, it's injudicious at best, criminally reckless at worse.
Warrior mindset in the right situation. Excellent work
Its very impressive that they are chasing these suspects while shots are being fired at them. All while relaying his location and other pertinent info to the dispatcher. These cops are legends, man.
Was waiting for this one! This is Hollywood grade stuff good job officer
It’s easy when you’re quarterbacking on a Monday.
Even easier when you're commenting on a Thursday!
@c p I disagree. You have to know where every round goes. Full stop. I'm not concerned about him firing straight into the back of the vehicle as that is probably what ended the chase. I am concerned with him leaning out the window and shooting at an angle through the car. Idk if you've ever seen what happens when you shoot a car, but it usually goes through like paper.
*here's a tip from a friday night observer..
:you can't hit a aimed target by shooting through the glass windshield of the car you're driving.
