my cities dickhead mayor decided to make every cop patrol solo. the day after that happened a police officer got pushed into train tracks and nearly got shot by his own gun. this order was instantly reverted and the superintendent of the police department basically said "told you so" to our mayor. i live in NYC. multiple times has 2 officers proven to be better. including in a shooting that happened in harlem where 2 officers were shot (both killed) and where 2 officers were ambushed in queens where a officer was shot and the second officer literally trickshotted the shooter, killing him.

Yeah, mental health within police, military, etc., is typically heavily negatively stigmatized as well.
Yet there are many who function perfectly fine with mild to moderate treatment for mental health conditions, even ones that require meds. The negative stigma needs to end, of those who seek treatment, and policies need to be updated to allow such to happen without fear of repurcussion from dept/govt. Having staff mental health peeps ain't cutting it, because nobody really trusts talking to someone on the payroll, especially when it is something not directly job related, ie manic depression, schizo-type disorders, even severe bouts of PTSD causing extreme sleep deprivation, hallucinations etc.
They need to have a bit of an anonymous sort of setup, to where there is a layer of separation so peeps can trust not facing career repercussions for seeking treatment instead of hiding shit and battling symptoms without any sort of treatment.

This is pretty sad because the officer that had been there for 17 years knew Lionel. The other officer has only been there 2 years. The article I read said he was fired for several policy violations conduct issues. His wife and mother are both police officers for Kansas City as well and his stepdad retired as police. His two aunts are city police disbatchers. I can't imagine climbing the ranks and getting to detective to only be fired due to my issues while my wife and mom are still employed by the same dept. You know that had to be embarrassing not just to him but for his wife and mom. The other thing is the wife nor mom could speak out anyways because they are both employed there so that keeps them quiet. I can't imagine what demons he was battling but it was obvious something was going on and him being an ex cop he had full access to some of best professional help you can get but that doesn't mean he'd take it unfortunately or maybe he did. It doesn't seem like it though. It's sad when any life is taken by police not just him because he's an ex cop but anyone. It's pretty easy to see this shooting was justifiable imo. Not all shootings are justifiable and I have seen way too many cups get away with murder. I was glad to see police officer Delke pled guilty for shooting Daniel 3 times from 51 feet stop running and shoot. Hitting him once in the back of the head execution style. No way that will ever be justifiable. He took the plea deal of the century getting only 3 years when 12 jurors already said he should be tried for highest of the highest muder charge first degree. Yeah he'd been a fool to still go to trial and try his luck or he could do his 3 years and know by the time he was 31 he'd definitely be out of prison. No way would I ever go to trail with that offer on the table and shooting him 3 times in the back while he was running away.
