🎸Question of the day! 🎸 - What would you use the Gemstone Red & Glittering Green Paint on? Also what's your favourite colour? - I know thats two questions, but i'm a rebel!
Gemstone red works well for candy red applications. For example Horus Heresy Thousand Sons have a metallic red colour scheme. ANd glittering green could work for salamnders If you want their armour to be metallic. But could also work for a green dragon with shiny scales.
Glad to hear that, im the same - i find it such better to look at something when it's on the same thing. These little goblins have had fun being my test subjects :)
Painting Blood Angels in that Gemstone Red would be amazing. I've always loved the idea that Space Marines have more metallic coloured armor. These suit that purpose perfectly.
ah fantastic, they are cool - I really like how the range has expanded, but i didn't mention it in the video but - i like the way the bottle feels! haha The metallic paints have a slight embossed label at the front. It's the little things i notice haha :):) You'll have to let me know which is your favourite, and if you come up with a good combination for them!
Glad you enjoyed it! :) I thought i'd just go through them all individually and that may help people get an idea of what they are like. Any favourite colours?
The 4 "new" colors are not from the Air range. They already existed in the regular Warpaints range from the "Metallic Colors" set: Gemstone (Metallic Red) Zephyr Pink (Metallic Pink) Glitter Green (Metallic Green) Azure Magic (Metallic Aqua) Elven Armor (Metallic Blue) Royal Purple ((Metallic Purple) Fairy Dust (Metallic Clear to mix with any other Warpaints color) Night Scales (Metallic Black) Tainted Gold (Metallic Yellow-Green) Evil Chrome (Metallic Orange) The YT tutorials from AP suggested painting the metallic colors over a non-metallic base, eg metallic red over Blood Red or Mars Red; or metallic green over Greenskin or Angel Green rather than 3 or 4 coats of the metallic color. Depending on which red you use for the base, Gemstone works well for Thousand Sons Legion, Word Bearers Legion, or Blood Angels Legion Azure Magic, especially over Hydra Turquoise is great for Alpha Legion Elven Armor over Viking Blue is good for blue variant Alpha Legion Evil Chrome over Mythical Orange or Lava Orange is good for amaranth variant Alpha Legion Glitter Green over a Wizards Orb or Elemental Bolt base is good for Sons of Horus Legion Glitter Green over GW Nocturne Green or Vulkan Green is good for Salamanders Legion Royal Purple over Alien Purple or GW Xereus Purple is good for Emperor's Children Legion with Grey Knights Steel for platinum accent plates Night Scales is good for Iron Hands Legion and variant black Imperial Fists Legion with yellow helmets or metallic black boarding shields on Breacher Squads
The video is a few days old, but I'm commenting anyway - I have now finished at least 20 models with the fanatic metallics and wanted to share my insights: you NEED at least 3 coats for maximum shine. Maybe even more. I used Mithril for my stormcasts and they really start to shine (ha) after 3 or 4 coats.
Daaaamn! The "Evil Chrome" looks amazing! I'm gonna use that on a new Stormcast Eternal army. I've been looking for a good bronze/copper paint and this absolutely nails it. Appreciate the video.
Amazing! I love that you are demonstrating these colours! It is so nice to see them in use when trying to decide which to buy. Only problem is, there is a lot of really nice ones, so it is really hard to choose 😅 I need one accent metal colour for my new necron army in addition to a dark silver but cannot decide between True Brass/Evil Chrome/Tainted Gold/Rough Iron, they all look great. And I have to find a place for death metal in a project somewhere because that colour is awesome!
Thanks very much, for me i just like seeing the colours in front of me rather than on a website that uses a swatch colour or just the bottle. Ah yes i know you, i'll message you back on Facebook properly about the necrons as i have some ideas and it will be good to have a discussion :) I painted up some test colours a while back and made a video series on the Swords and Brushes Sci-Fi channel - but they were before the Fanatic line came out! Grr lol
witam , duzo zalezy od farbek ale jeszcze wiecej od malujacego, zeby pmalowac w inny sposob jak zawsze na pewno sie przydadza te kolory metaliczne ,dzieki za filmik👍👌
Absolutely, the nice thing with this hobby is there are a variety of styles that people can paint on their miniatures and to have a nice variety of paints just makes the whole creative process even better :):)
Great video 👍🏻 would love to see you check out the game of thrones miniatures and maybe some paint tutorials on those. Ordered my core pack today, can't wait to get to painting!
Great suggestion! I do really like the miniatures from the range, they have some awesome sculpts. Maybe one day i will get some! For now i have a whole load of Middle Earth to get through! :):)

ah no any colour in particular? I have some Scale75 skin paints, i was curious about them so got a set - i really like them! The matt finish they give is quite different to GW & Army painter. It's nice to have some choice :)
@@SwordsandBrushes Most of the starter set actually! They take 3 layers to apply an opaque coat - which in itself can be great if they glaze well or at least thin well with a glaze medium, but they split like nobodies business! The colours are really good don’t get me wrong though.
My ideal primer would be the one most suited to the miniature i'm painting, so for example if i'm doing lots of metal armour - i would more than likely either spray it gun metal or black (depending what else is on the mini, like clothing etc) Browns and creams are great for gold colours and greys are lovely for Silver metallics :) I decided to do them on black for this video as it's more than likely what beginner hobbyists start with when they buy some toys and a black primer from the shop. Plus it's nice to see how these paints can tackle a black undercoat :):)
@@SwordsandBrushes Yea, I normaly prime in black too, however it was stated by one of the main developers of the Fanatic line that the metalics were developed using a white primer in mind. Priming in black makes them darker then intended.
haha they have served their purpose as test subjects - they have retired now and live in a land where there are mushrooms galore and Squig space hopper racing - they are very happy :):)
@@SwordsandBrushes I have a huge collection of metallics. The AP Fanatics are not yet on it, but I'm planning to get them. My top trio would be: 1st: Vallejo Metal Colours. Sadly the colour range is very limited for gold/bronze/brass/copper and absolutely no coloured metallics like red, blue and green 2nd: AK 3rd gen. Great aspect and a great range of colours. Sadly they botched the copper. 3rd: Scale75 Metals & Alchemy. Good aspect and a great range of colours. Best range of golds ever At a honorable 4th place are coming the new Vallejo Model and Game Colours. So much better than their old formulations, but quite restricted colour range. And in the To be avoided: Reaper Master Series. Great colour range but looks more glittery than metallic
True Brass is such a wonderful color for edge highlighting gold. Very happy to have it. I paint a lot of "white metal" models for other games and highlighting gold with silver just looks like the paint has chipped. True brass saves the day! Also The red gemstone color works great for "candy apple" red cars, or painting iron man for MCP or other candy apple red power armor.

Thank you for using the same mini!! It sucks when creators use all different minis. I can’t tell the difference as good as I can with the same!
Glad to hear that, im the same - i find it such better to look at something when it's on the same thing.

Gemstone Red will probably be the armor color for my Thousand Sons.

Interesting, but I'm not sure I need them since you can get great effects with applying speedpaints on a silver undercoating

No worries! Thats exactly what my wonderful test Goblins were for :):)
Gemstone red could be a solid option for red Skaven Verminous armor.
Rough Iron is really nice for primitive, robust armors but I have no idea what other metallic can be used to highlight it. 😂
