    Highly disagree that they are so strong that they require a nerf. Though they are very strong they do have a skill celling on how to use them, like position them for good line of sight and how to avoid massive friendly fire. They are also easily countered by several units in the game like other ranged units with longer range and faster speed (which are most other ranged troops), a good cavalry flank, most artillery units, etc.

      I really hoped the nerd spelling would express that I thought this was more than a little sarcasm but hey :) Either way the unit is quite powerful, but the roster largely needs it to be. Otherwise Grimgor would huff and puff and blow your tower down on Turn 15. (I've survived him trying a few times.)

    Only drawback to blunderbusses so far is that half the time they won't fire by themselves, you need to issue an attack order to get them going. Otherwise, I really like them! I thought they wouldn't be this good at first because they're sorta like Cathay's ironhail gunners, but they pack a lot of punch.

      Coming into this DLC I had never played Cathay, but I've fought against Cathay a ton now. I feel like Cathay gets hosed in auto-resolve a fair bit. I'll have to see them from the other side sometime.

      @@OffToBattle I find it really strange that someone would make videos on youtube talking about unit balance and usage and you havent played one of the base factions of the game. Don't you like.... need that context to understand what you're talking about?

    • @OffToBattle
      @OffToBattle  Год назад +1

      @@madlarkin8 I'm not making videos comparing the blunderbuss to units I haven't used myself. In fact, I didn't lift a finger to dispute comparing them to iron hail gunners. It's in the title... this is a focus on the unit, because I don't pretend to know everything and frankly, I spent a lot of time away from this game wondering if I should do more content for it. I'm not comparing those two units, someone else is, and I replied honestly that I cannot compare them myself here and now. Consider that talking myself into trying Cathay properly.... but it's just how I work. I try to master one faction at a time, not ten at once.

      @@madlarkin8 Why would you need to know about cathay units to find a good use for blunderbusses? Unless you have an outpost and are recruiting their units (which still won't make 'em better than ChaD units because of redline skills and Manufactory upgrades) there's no point in even taking them into consideration. Even more so since the video isn't focused on pvp.

      @@tsunamie1015 Pretty much. Cathay's interesting though. If the AI wasn't so fond of YOLO-ing with the legendary lords it would be harder to beat them too...

    What's the point of this so late after launch? Surely everyones lived it by now

      Not everyone buys games at launch. Not everyone plays every faction after buying, either.

    People calling for nerfs when they don't play multiplayer grinds my gears, you're playing the AI, of course you're going to melt them down with range. The hellforge also limits you on how many you can have in campaign at a time, so it's really not a big deal.

      I'm worried you didn't hear the dripping sarcasm in my remark. I've been in this debate for, as an excellent example, Warhammer 40k Darktide. Chaos Dwarfs lack a basic Halberdier style unit, so they'd be crippled without the blunderbuss - but no, really, dripping sarcasm present. I love these guys, they're my lifeline in battle.

      @@OffToBattle This was more of a general yelling complaint, I didn't mean to seem as though I was targeting you lol. I've also seen this being said unironic a ton with all the races and it's weird that it's been so prevalent with the Chaos Dwarfs specifically.

      Man, part of the Issue with Darktide is that if they're going to adopt a cancerous Gacha mechanics they need to treat the game like a gacha game, which means no nerfs ever because that pisses people off. I have a buddy that dropped the game because he spent 70 hours grinding for the perfect power sword only for them to hit it with the nerf bat.

    • @OffToBattle
      @OffToBattle  Год назад

      @@semi-useful5178 I can COMPLETELY UNDERSTAND his pain. I've dipped my toe into Honkai: Star Rail, but I KNOW it's a gacha game up front. If hunting for that perfect weapon is what kept you playing and then the nerf bat comes... lots of pain there!

      @@FriezaSucks Yeah my reply was more to the general issue too 😀 Another good example was for Borderlands games. I think CA should be very careful of messing with the blunderbuss because the roster has very little that can effectively deal with cavalry/ monsters except these and expensive/ exotic units like Bull Centaurs with Great Weapons, which are legit amazing. Chorfs have no basic halberdier unit. Blunderbusses are the foundation for any army expected to deal with serious stuff...
