as a man who plays way too much HOI4 and loves artillery to an unhealthy degree, I've got to say these bois bring a tear to my eye. I CAN"T WAIT TO USE THAT DREADQUAKE MORTAR IN BATTLE!
I love railway guns and massed artillery. Like no joke I usually make a few railway guns and a division with 5 battalions of artillery and enough infantry to get 40 org as my offensive force... because "YES" is the appropriate amount of firepower.
I understand your take on the train for the dreadquake, but Indypride’s video using it was really spectacularly telling. It’s fast, can reposition easily, and smash through small formations trying to bog the artillery down.
In essence, the Chaos Dwarfs are Nurgle and the Vampire Counts' worst nightmare (what with all the fire damage AND the massive amount of war machines being thrown around). Eh whatever, let's see how well they do against the Vampire Coast and Tomb Kings.
i think the tomb kings will do great against them... they have mobility, and most importantly, they have bone giant which are single entity snipers and from what i see, all the artilery from the chaos dwarfs are pretty much single entities.
@@zapbrannigan5645 Honestly, really depends on the stage of their development that you find them at and how both armies shape up. Bone Giant won't matter too much if you wreck the front line and get your ranged units closer (or just rush the Bone Giant to tie it up in melee if they don't have a lot of mobile options), mobility won't matter much if you use the reavers to essentially block their way to the unbreakable siege engines, and depending on how the artillery is used, 2-3 of them may be enough to cripple the Tomb king front line to allow the Chaos Dwarfs to run wild. But this is assuming the Chaos Dwarf army is putting in a decent build and aren't too early on in their army development.
@@zapbrannigan5645 the chaos dwarfs do have a lot of advantages against the tomb kings what with all the units that have fire damage and their high armor units since the tomb kings have almost no AP but the tomb kings have the advantage of better cavalry and monsters as well as a lot of sniper units
Oh they gonna be busted busted, they're regular dawi but the normal dawi trade their sturdiness for speed, these guys have all the tools but better, and also have monstrous cav, big monsters and flying units and can even just flood the field with chaff like skaven would. Not to mention you can bolt your artillery to a train so that its mobile and can survive in combat for a while, so if it gets dived it'll live until you can bring support over, if they're not a top tier faction instantly on release I would be shocked, the only thing they don't have is the undead's ability to heal, but even then they can still heal the constructs....
Tbf, unlike regular dwarves, they have (Flying) monsters, monstrous cav and war machines. All of those are slow compared to other factions, but superior to slayers and gyros when it comes to flanking, counterflanking, chasing and general speedy stuff from what I can tell. Also, hobgoblin wolf riders, which I will likely not use to much mid/late game, but they are a great ultra light cav.
Daemonsmith sorcerer heroes are vital in an army with a lot of Hell-forged units for the reforge ability. The heal can help them do a lot more work in melee.
I really wish we get a small but significant change to the regular dwarfs as well. It sucks that we get to see the Chaos Dwarfs with magic, war machines, ranged capabilities, tankiness, monsters, cavalry/fast movers, etc. while the vanilla dwarfs are stuck with their kinda boring and old faction mechanics. I really hope they give dwarf lords a bit more flavor as well as giving Thorgrim some much needed faction wide effects that actually make him seem like the High King. Anyways, rant over. Let's goooo, Chaos Dwarfs.
2 Patches ago CA said that dwarfs are fine and that they rework seems good…i don’t know which kind of rework CA was talking about (maybe rune magic?!??) but CA doesnt got any planes for making an overhaul of the dwarfs. It’s a shame
Dwarves lore-wise cannot use magic except for rune magic so that eliminates spells. They do not worship chaos so that eliminates monsters. I GUESS they could add more war machines… but what else could they really add that’s lore friendly? There isn’t much and although they’re a bit bland, they’re in a fine spot, good starter faction like the Empire, not too advanced but still solid in battle.
@@SneakySteven Its a little lame that chaos dwarves are often even better in melee too. Seems like with the c. dwarves having their fingers in everything, they would be a little more jack of all trades master of none.
Chaos Dwarfs. I'm super excited for this. They seem to be similar to the Empire with having a bit of everything, but that everything being made up of stuff from Dwarfs, Greenskins, Warriors of Chaos, and a little Beastmen in there too. They seem to be a very versatile faction, but not to the same level of all-rounder that the Empire is. But I'm sure they're going to be a great faction all the same.
By my beard, my Leadership just dropped in the artillery section... But for real. The Chorfs are, especially in ther warmachine-departement, everything the regular Dawi should have been. :(
I like how kislev the land of ice, the cold and ice magic gets hardly any ice damage and the underwhelming frostbite debuff. Then i see this faction of pure fire damage and a roster twice as big and its just like this just like cool. Great they also have caster lords that could solo tons of shit in melee.
I can tell you from my few domination games as them. Hobgoblins are amazing late game units. massive powerful armies to hold your enemies in place while you nuke them 😂
I was hoping on the 31st we'd get a little bit more info to satiate my hunger for Chaos Dwarf goodness... but it appears that it wasn't enough... it needs to launch NOW!
Worth mentioning to those who watch this but havent bought the expansion, Gorduz can turn the goblins in his army into a respectable force midgame and the goblin wolf riders very useful end game.
once you get the ball rolling with these guys they are OP. the blunderbusses in a checkerboard formation will rip apart anything that gets close, add in as strong frontline and a few monsters and you have an unbeatable army

Agreed! Really hoping they rework the original dwarfs. I would expect it means they have that in their backlog, maybe as some upcoming DLC. For now, I am just gonna consider both to be "the dwarfs" and just choose the chaos version every time XD
@@nicholasmello9855 Good point! Definitely could be! I'm totally hoping they are balanced. It might be just me liking the playstyle of sitting back and watching artillery happen along with seeing all these cool new artillery pieces.
I wonder would these guys make good allies for khorne? They seem to have similar infantry stats wise but much better options when it comes to ranged damage with magic and artillery, plus the aesthetic is damn near the same. They both seem to complement each other very well but I suppose it’s about weather it’s even possible to form an alliance with them . Do they’re goals align or no?
Not really in my opinion Chaos Dwarves are practically brutal wanting to dominate while Khorn just want battle for battles sake, for example KD's will enact trade and have beneficial relationships with other kingdoms and what not
Chaos dwarfs are easy to ally as Khorne in game. And their blunderbusses definitely covers Khornes weaknesses. In lore, Chaos Dwarfs tend to ally with chaos warriors and Khorne worshippers often find good use for them.
