    Thanks for watching this video guys, I put a lot of effort into it and it's great to see that people are enjoying it! I know many people are against me comparing AC Origins and The Witcher 3 but at the end of the day it's mostly subjective. If you guys disagree then that's perfectly fine. I just wanted to compare these two games because I love them both in different ways. Thanks for your continuing support guys :)
    Also, I'd just like to mention that the gameplay used at 10:00 is from DKGames. He does extremely high quality raw gameplay videos of many different games so if you ever want to watch any raw footage of a game. Then you should definitely go check out that channel!

      I think AC Origins is a great game in its own right that is getting underrated due to the Ubisoft tag and it beings an AC game. I think Ashraf's team has created something really special, especially when it comes to the world of Egypt itself.
      On the other than though, it is by no means masterpiece status and in no way compareable to W3's quality.

      Maybe AC Origins has better structures but overall it can't beat The Witcher 3. The story of AC Origins is not depth and side quests are so boring like "I lost my cat can you help me Medjay?". It looks like the dev just wants to fill up side quests in a huge world of AC Origins.

    • @Sacr3dHam

      The Casual Gamer True, I love parkour so Ac definitely wins there, however the Witchers interaction with all the different people with quests that are all different and special in their own way beats the parkour in Ac, it's of higher value, AcO had you save hostages left and right all the time while the Witcher 3 built relationships with different people and I'd rather have that than parkour

Sure, not all side quest in W3, but W3 had way more meaningful and interesting side quest. AC is a great game, beautiful Egyptian landscape, but other than that it has nothing on W3. Didn't AC: O shift its entire presentation, gameplay and combat to a W3 like state? And both W3 dlcs are 10×better than AC:O.

    I played witcher 3 for 10 hours and switched to assassin creed Odyssey, it's simpler and straight forward. After I finish ACO, I go back to witcher 3 and I truly understand why its one of the best game in decades......
    I try to finish all the side quest to understand the world and characters, Gwent is also my favourite game that makes me stay away from looking for ciri......

      -has a masters degree in wumbology I gotta agree the side quests are so well thought out you see what you have to do to get rid of spirits finding what binds them to a particular place usually a wedding ring or something they loved in life and you have to burn their earthly body and favorite valuables to get rid of the spirit forever no game goes this far in depth to explain their profession like this. On top of that in side quests you learn more about the characters in the game and their motivations. Especially with Triss and Yennefer you can romance them more and get to know them more on a personal level

They could have left so much shit out, and it would have been fine, but they went the extra ten thousand miles, and this is why it’s the best, and STILL the reigning champion. I played God of War and Red Dead 2 not long ago. Both were amazing, but I had to go back to the Witcher 3 to see if I was simply enjoying something new. Those games were great, but W3 is just on another level. I’m 70 hours in, all over again, loving it just as much as the first time.

      Gang_Starr WoT Recently started my 2nd playthrough of W3, cutscenes don’t make up the majority of the story. Most of the story is through listening to characters while maintaining the ability to explore the room(or walk out), or more commonly received through the dialogue system which is certainly different than a cutscene.

    Here's my take on both (and FYI, I love both): In terms of open world, I was blown away with the beauty of Ancient Egypt in Origins and would have given it the easy win, but then I'm reminded that Wticher 3's world was never about beauty (unless you count Toussaint - which you didn't). Witcher 3 is a world ravaged with death and destruction. It's meant to look ugly. I do like both. I think Origins is more beautiful overall, but I think Witcher 3 had the better sunsets and sunrises.
    In terms of side quests AND question marks to uncover, I only remember a few side quests from Origins, but if you gave me a list of notice boards to read, I'd probably be able to tell you nearly the outcome of each quest involved from The Witcher 3, even over two years later. They are THAT memorable.
    That said, I wasn't too fond of uncovering the question marks in Witcher 3 (especially over the open seas of Skellige) because they were all repetitive. In Origins, despite being repetitive, I loved doing it because as someone that loves stealth, I loved sneaking in a newly discovered bandit camp and completing it undetected.
    In terms of combat, I loved both and both took me a while to get used to. My one complaint with Witcher 3 is that you can't jump over fences or low walls while in combat. Also, Roach just plain sucks. I think the devs of Origins played Witcher 3 a lot and were like, "We should improve horse mechanics and horse combat in our game." It's really flattering when you think about it. The Witcher 3 was such a good game that another company was like, "Let's take this idea and improve upon it." The horse mechanics and horse combat is better in Origins and the one area they improved combat in is being able to climb walls/cliffs. I enjoy both combat systems, though. Whirl and Rend make you so OP in Witcher 3. :P
    Finally, in terms of story, I found myself doing side content in both more frequently. But when I touched the main quests, Witcher 3 wins hands down. It never seems to end and it's memorable. If you only focus on the main story of each, Witcher 3 could take a week or more, yet you'd probably finish Origins' main story in a day. And let's not forget the epic cut scenes in Witcher 3, like the Battle of Kaer Morhen or killing Imlerith...
    PS - Sorry for the long post.

    Once again, I must point out that the Witcher isn't a story or game based solely on Poland and Polish mythology. It's a world that is based on the Entirety of Europe. With Toussaint being a mix of Italy, France and Spain, while Velen is like Poland/Germany, and Skellige is based on the Nordic Countries. Similarly all the different monsters aren't from Polish or slavic mythology alone, but from all European mythologies. The Wild hunt is a Germanic myth, the bruxae are Portuguese, the skelligan "ragh nar roogh" or whatever it is they call it is just the Norse "Ragnarök"

    I absolutely loved both games. I prefer the Witcher 3, but the thing that I love about Origins is the typical AC smoothness and feel of the Character's movements. When just walking out of combat, Geralt feels so weightless, so I don't feel like I'm in control of him. The AC playable character have a nice heft to them when controlling them

    Exceptional breakdown. Origins is flat out one of the best open world rpg games I’ve played, and I still love it to death. The amount of hours that game has had me entertained is unusual for any game of its kind that isn’t Witcher 3 or Horizon Zero Dawn. The thing about the Witcher though is that it isn’t just the template from which all future games of that kind will be judged, it’s the kind of template that feels unprecedented because I don’t think it’s yet been surpassed or necessarily will be for sometime. Well... RDR2, but can a time period so different be comparable? Hard to tell.

    It is clear in my opinion that The Witcher 3 is the better game but that doesn't mean Origins is bad. I would even say that Origins is close to The Witcher 3 especially since Ubisoft clearly took some ideas from The Witcher which you feel while playing Origins.
    Origins is a fantastic game on its own and the visuals are just out of this World. There will never be a better ancient Egypt than in Origins. I would even go so far and say that Origins is maybe the best Assassins Creed? But that's another Topic.
    But like i said, The Witcher 3 clearly wins the battle here. The Witcher 3 was and is still the Zeus of his Genre.

      @Tutankhamun it means you play the game that way. Doesn't mean the combat is shallow. You could read up on your opponents, find what they're weak to, brew potions and oils and prepare for a fight, you have multiple signs, bombs for any fight. That's role-playing as a witcher. For a wraith, you can't even hit her without a magic bomb or yrden.
      Same way for assassin's creed I can dodge all the time and light attack spam for most cases. It's how you play the game and explore all combat options. I'm an AC fan and I love most of the games and love the combat of the last two and that's cause it has its variety like you said as well. We just gotta explore it

    Great video! Just a small correction, Witcher 3 is much bigger than AC Origins map-size wise. AC Origins is 120 sq. km, and Witcher 3 is unmeasured, except we know that Novigrad, Skellige, and No Man’s Land alone make up 136 sq. km, but that’s only half the vanilla map, so realistically we’re looking at around 200 - 300 sq. km for Witcher 3 (not including DLC). But just those three areas at 136 sq. km is bigger than AC Origin’s 120 sq. km map.

I will say it's amazing what CDPR was able to do with less resources and the amount of content in the dlc at such a great price. CDPR certainly set a great example of how to respect your audience and set a new standard in this respect. They also put in a ton of work refining the game via free updates. CDPR really went above and beyond.

      Like, Origins isn't even a great game. Uninspired story, no replay value whatsoever, boring and repetetive "quests" generally one of the most brainless Action RPGs I've ever played. But hey, the budget was probably ten times higher, so if generic big company Ubisoft and journalists paid by it say it's great, it's great, huh?

      @Pellaeon159 6 лет назад +5

      It is great. The combat is quite fun, the world is stunning. The quests, although not briliant, are not too bad either. Customization is solid and looks often unique and the historical accuracy (of the surroundings, not the characters) is amazing. And the feel of the gameplay is also pretty good. I really dont understand when someone dismissed a clearly top AAA title as "generic XY" ... What exactly are you talking about? where are the LOADS of generic RPGs as good as this???

      Love the projection here by Witcher fanboys.
      This applies WAY more to Witcher fans than AC fans. In fact, in a *lot* of ways, AC Origins is *considerably* better than TW3. The open world itself for example, there's no comparison. AC Origins is objectively better in every way. Gameplay is another factor. AC's gameplay is just far more refined, not to mention diverse. AC offers far more gameplay features (and handles a LOT better... the controls in Witcher 3 are still bad, 2 years after release). In terms of story, neither game is particularly good. I would say the storytelling is superior in Witcher 3, as are the side-quests. In AC Origins, they are a bit too generic and repetitive. Overall though, I consider AC Origins a MUCH better game. And yes, I have put many hours into W3. I reckon 200 hours. I'm just not blind like most of you fanboys are.

    2:39 I really agree,Internet’s unreliable sources say that Witcher 3 is bigger(something like 135km^2 which is impossible there is no way it’s that big)but as a person who has finished both games i think Origins has a much bigger map.It’s really hard to see quest marker distances that are further than 2-3,000 meters in Witcher 3 while it’s quite common to see 6-8,000 meters of distance in Origins as the entire map stretches between 11-12,000m from one side to other.
    I’d honestly swear that it’s bigger than Velen,Skellige and Toussaint combined in playable area.
    Although i think Witcher 3 is the better game overall.

    You're wrong when you said ac origins was ancient egypt. Ancient egypt is the old kingdom, the middle kingdom, the new kingdom and the late new kingdom and lasted until 343 BCE while the game was set in ptolemaic egypt (this can be proven by the city of alexandria) and ptolemaic egypt is a mix of macedon and greek and has no blood connection to ancient egypt.

    • @alexanderthered5603
      @alexanderthered5603 6 лет назад +1

      Foolish, they're nothing alike. But Origins and Witcher are similar with similar mechanics and game functions, and that's the point. Crafting, true open world filled with side quests, combat based on precision, loot loot and more loot, etc. That was the entire point of the video, did you even watch?

    • @_dark168
      @_dark168 6 лет назад +2

      By comparing which is the "Best Open World Game", the plot and writing needs to be compared as well. They're nothing a alike in that matter, one's made by people who actually care about quality, the other's made by people who mainly care about profit
