    It’s a great game, bayek he is more relatable, the thing I like about him there is a soft side of him, a fatherly figure. I see in the cutscene he is more peaceful when he sees a kid. Sometimes he is funny.

      Armani Nguon honestly one of my favorite parts is the Scarab arc. From meeting the little boy and being friendly to him, to saving his grandfather, to meeting his father and giving him the wooden toy, to having to kill his dad because he’s the Scarab. The look of sorrow when he’s walking away from the boy screaming that he hates him, I thought it was one of the best parts of the story.

    • @arkhamknight9000
      @arkhamknight9000 6 лет назад +177

      Diewott1 Gamer it was well received by fans and critics alike.... saying it killed the series is pretty preposterous. But we are on the internet I suppose.

    • @arkhamknight9000
      @arkhamknight9000 6 лет назад +118

      Diewott1 Gamer Desmond or no Desmond, the modern day was always debatably shitty. Edward Kenway was a good character not because he was badass but because he had a motive which obviously changed throughout the story and I found him to be rather interesting. I hate to break it to you but good characters don’t have to be a fucking edgelord. And the story part of things is pretty much the reason how and why Haytham ended up where he was as none of that would’ve happened if Edward never sailed for England with his daughter.
      Hate it or love it. I could give a shit. But the numbers and sales don’t lie. Ac has had some *horrendous* games but Ac4 wasn’t one of them. I’ve said my piece.

    • @cobaltshadow6741
      @cobaltshadow6741 6 лет назад +85

      Diewott1 Gamer Dude, Ac4 was liked by the majority of fans out there. Idk what made you think it killed the series or whatever but even Ashraf himself was very pleased with what Ac turned out to be. Your paragraphs are very opinionated versus the guy in here who actually put up an argument (as well as the original guy)

      What? How is the game in any way like Skyrim? If you're trying to say that it's been dumbed down like Skyrim was compared to the others in the TES series then you're wrong (Same goes if you're saying the game is actually like Skyrim, it's nothing like Skyrim, it's more along the lines of The Witcher 3 and Horizon Zero Dawn). The combat isn't dumbed down and now actually offers mpre of a challenge than the easily done 1 hit kill streaks you get in past AC games, sure they're more stylish but gets old too damn fast and too easy..especially after 10 years of the same thing. Combat is more personal now and fun and reminds me of a lite-Dark Souls when fighting the the tougher bosses. It's not as punishing as Souls but great nonetheless. Every weapon class requires you to approach combat differently (take part in the pit fights and you can see this perfectly), they're not just simply different animations. Your character no longer does flashy moves almost completely on their own, you have to do that now. You have much more control than before, very far from shallow...
      I agree with the lack of a backstory regarding the characters, I was disappointed when seeing there was no Animus Database you could check out and you were limited by the notes on the loading screens and Layla's own observations that are available on during the present day (Which makes sense) and I think the game would've benefited greatly from it since I'm not as familiar with Ancient Egypt as I am with the past settings. What you do learn of these characters through the game on the other hand is done well and doesn't give you(And the developers, they actually had to do more than type it in a separate menu, they had to actually present it in the game in a natural way that doesn't feel out of place) a cheat sheet like the Animus Database, the game doesn't just hold your hand and tell you every single thing through a cutscene(or take the easy way out and rely on the Database to tell you), there's alot of information you can find in the World which I consider to be superior way to present a story and something else that reminds me of the Souls series. You learn so much about the setting's back story through the environment and exploring whether it's from journals or by listening to the townfolk which is a nice trade off from the Database (though I admit I'd rather have both, I don't see why they both couldn't both be done but I'm not complaining about it). Add all that with the fact that there's almost a functioning ecosystem in the game where animals don't just simply attack but eat whatever it is they were hunting and you've got an Egypt that feels very alive. That's far from shallow
      Everything you said about the climbing is wrong, there's not a straight climb path on every building and alot of them require you to change up how you do it and it takes significantly longer to climb than it does on past AC's, it hasn't been simplified. The Pyramids on the other hand don't take as long to climb as they should and that's a good thing, it would take too damn long to climb if it was realistically done (As would just about everything else in the entire AC series, none of them are realistic). They do take longer to climb than other areas and it's not the same as climbing the other buildings.
      This bit right here has me wondering if you've even done any of the sidequests.. There's not an over-abundance(no where near as dramatic as 1,000) of them and every single one I've done so far(which is almost all of them) supports the narrative and helps flesh out the different areas and people in those areas. Every single one so far has served a purpose in the game's world, none of it is like the faceless side quests you find in past AC's (I'm not talking about the past side stories like with Leonardo, etc) that are bordering on Fallout 4's repetitive radiant quests.
      This is another one where you're completely wrong, the crafting.. Unless you bought resources using your own money(if so then you can't really complain about it not taking long since you laid for it to be sped up) then there's no way you were able to max out your gear quicker than you did in the last titles. Most of the resources are easily obtained (Like how everything was in the past AC's) but the Carbon Crystals aren't, they're required to max your gear and they're not readily available just anywhere which is one of my complaints about the game, it's something that feels like the developers done in order to get players to buy from the Shop because of the amount it takes to max your gear(only 3 each for your arrows and pouch but 8+ for your hidden blade, bracers, and chest piece).
      This game has a poor excuse for a first Civ story because it's not a first Civ story and wasn't supposed to be, it's the Origin of the Brotherhood. There is an obvious first Civ presence in the game and you can go find it in different areas but that's not what this game is about.
      This post is already way too damn long and there's more I could go into but like I said, this is already way too long but as far as "SAVING THE SERIES" I agree, it's restored interest into a great series that's become mass produced causing it to go downhill lately.

      Mitch H sorry no 2 is the best hands down Always will be the amount of customization you can do is superior to even this game gameplay wise this is the best but 2 is just something they keep trying to replicate but it literally made the most improvements in any Ac game ever period

    I’m glad to say that I’m loving this game. It’s a really nice change up to the series. Though, I think the story is kinda sloppy, not bad, but sloppy. Origins generally is a good step in the right direction. For the next one, they should focus on making the story great, polish the fighting mechanics, facial animations/voice acting, and keep up the innovation train, and we’ll be getting some REALLY good games in my opinion! I really love the setting too, I sorta wish that we could stay in ancient times for a couple games longer. We could go back to Rome (which would be fucking awesome), ancient Greece (also awesome), Persia (though, we’d end up with a bunch of “Assassin’s Creed became Prince of Persia” jokes). If we had to stray away from the ancient setting, we’ve gotta go to Feudal Japan, I’ll keep saying that until we get it. I WANT JAPAN!!!

    Being stealthy with the blade and bow is the way to play origins, the new combat system is amazing but getting in a swordfight with multiple enemies is a lot harder than it used to be! I wish they kept some of the parkour from unity though

      @metalhead4667 6 лет назад +9

      That is a huge lie, the only thing different about the combat is that you cant just parry and kill everyone, i still run in to huge groups of people and kill them the same that i did in all previous Assassin's Creed games I've played

  • @Whodaloc

    Bayek is, without a doubt the best character in the series since Ezio.
    Honorable and bound to his duty as a medjah, a father and husband, and extremely likeable.
    This being the origins of the assassins gave it way more wiggle room in both plot and character development where Arno, Jacob and at times Evie seemed to be more concerned with their own personal vendettas and not with the creed, Bayek's moments that deviate from the path can be forgiven as no path has been forged, he and Aya are the trail blazers here. Their vendetta is what drove them, but something greater sprung forth from it.
    I was disappointed with both Unity and Syndicate because it wasn't true to the story, but Origins did indeed save the series and I'm very much looking forward to the next one, especially if we still get it centered on Bayek & Aya or the early age of the assassins.

  • @Shayman94
    @Shayman94 6 лет назад +58

    I am an Assassin's Creed fan, and even I was critical of this game's combat and animation when I saw the demo gameplay. But playing it personally has changed my opinion of this game. This is every bit as good, if not better than AC 4 was.The story starts off slow, but builds up amazingly, the loot boxes can be bought with in game money @ 3000 drachmas a pop, which isn't bad at all, since the game is *MASSIVE* , and has a lot to do. Also, this game has the best side quests I've played after The Witcher 3. They are meaningful and unique, and only a very few are "fetch quests", and even then,those don't feel tedious. Cities are well populated, and feel alive. The AI isn't dumb as rocks like the previous AC games,but they're not amazing either, so there's that. All in all a *VERY* solid 8.5/10, which,after the last few bungled attempts, is a Godsend. *ALSO MOTHERFUCKING SHIP BATTLES BOIII*

    • @cindercatz
      @cindercatz 6 лет назад +1

      TOP KEKyoin The side quests are ok, but that doesn't compensate for throwing away the best combat and parkour system in gaming just to pump out another generic hack and slash. I got bored with this combat system the first time I played it, about fifteen years before Assassin's Creed came out. This better not be the future of the franchise. You think you got bored running around opening hidden chests..

    Everyone talks about Feudal Japan, I want a Vikings story. Could travel in a boat, fight saxons, I think large scale battles would be interesting having to really utilize your shield next to your kinship brothers and sisters. Have a Senu but make it a raven. Make the world diverse like Origins so you can travel to Iceland, Greenland, Paris. Show the beliefs of the norsemen while relating it to the storyline of the Assassins. I’d love it lol

      The problem with a raven would be, that in every AC you have eagle vision, and that the AC mark is a eagle skull, so a raven wouldn’t fit, but that would be a good idea with the viking story, but at the end for me the most important thing is the apple of adam or just the gods artifacts and a good finish would be AC in the today’s time

      Jakub Hejna The Witcher 3 was boring with a very simple story and very boring antagonists. There is no freedom at all for a game that claims to be an RPG and running around fighting monsters and hunting them isn’t exactly entertaining for a long period of time. You can’t even bring up assassins creed to argue against me before you attempt to because I never mentioned it once and I’m simply stating that he Witcher 3 is overrated as fuck and gets boring and repetitive and is boring once you finish the story. I mean for fucks sake it’s almost as overrated as he last of us, but I bet you think that’s a masterpiece too. There is no such thing as a masterpiece when you talk about video games because they’re made to be enjoyed not worshiped. Video games aren’t art so get the fuck over yourself.

    • @alfredong6850
      @alfredong6850 6 лет назад +2

      There's no game that can claim to be a perfect masterpiece, but that will also not stop them from being enjoyable experiences. Who says the Witcher 3 needs to be worshiped? It has flaws, but that does not prevent it from being enjoyed by many due to its production value compared to other similar Triple Ayyyy games. As someone who see beyond the hype and quit the Witcher 3 at the 3/4 mark because its boring, I say let them have their fun while they have it cos we have our own versions of fun.

      Bevin Warren Calling Egypt in the Ptolemaic era ”Ancient Egypt” really is pushing it. I don’t teach history in school so I would’t know about that but for me that title is reserved to the Old, Middle and New Kingdom. Not the tail-end of a declining civilization. As has been said by others: Cleopatra is closer to Neil Armstrong in time than the pharaohs who started building pyramides...

      Gordon Freeman no man it's not unfair, if it was well written like the previous AC games (everything before unity was well written and deep) origins could have been way better than the witcher 3 (or at least equal but different which would have been great) but we lost the emotions and philosophy that were present in every old gen AC games. I don't know if you guys remember but before, when you killed someone, his last words were making you doubt, you were feeling sad for them and their way to see the world was understandable, in AC origins, everytime you kill someone you are like "yeah yeah shut up who is next", none of your target is interesting to listen at, they were all doing horrible stuff only for power and wealth which was their final goal, not just a way to obtain something bigger like haytham who only wanted peace for example and still fighted and believed in changes even though the Templars ruined his life. In this game you are a kind of white knight killing Templars cuz... they are evil just to be evil. All of them are so forgetable and you never feel any emotions in this game they focused more on bullshit fire sword, mounts, shield making smoke, shiny unassassiny outfits or even worse, magical outfits like the fkn mummy outfit with red eyes or the fkn Anubis burning outfits to impress 10 years old kids instead of focusing on the story. Instead of being a masterpiece, AC origins is decent or just fine at best, such a waste, the AC series isn't for ppls who play a game only for the graphics and gameplay, and personally, If I want to play a game for its gameplay I will definitely go for a multi-player game instead of killing stupid bots, if you buy a battlefield game for the story and except something from the scenario you are doing something wrong, same thing for AC games sure the parlour plus stealth gameplay is fun, but the story is the most important thing and AC origins is just a shame for the series in terms of story. If you still believe it's not true, just imagine the ezio trilogy with the graphics, RPG and exploration gameplay like origins origins would be considered to be shit if it was made with the same technical restrictions than previous ac games or just imagine if previous AC games were made with origins'engine, origins would be one of the worst AC game ever.

    Am I the only one feeling Syndicate is an aggressively mediocre game? I don't get why people are so keen on praising on it for being better than Unity. To me, it's the opposite other than Unity's technical issues. There are just way too many copy & paste content in Syndicate. There are essentially only four types of enemies: regular goon, big bulky brute, rogues with guns who are usually female, and captains. On top of the sparse crowds on the street, the visual of Syndicate is rather dull. The same character models are seen over and over only in different gang uniforms. The missions are structured and laid out in such a cookie cutter fashion, it felt like a parody to Ubisoft game design.
    Say what you want about Unity, at least they went all out on making in-game Paris worthy of this-gen's name. The combat tweaks also discourage button mashing, which they unfortunately reversed back in Syndicate. Also Syndicate is such a wasted opportunity for not including coop when they have two protagonists with different play style.

      look syndicate wasnt a bad game per se but I must agree with u on unity........it was a massive change from all AC games.........like the game play was one of the best ive seen.........from parkour to fighting everythung had a finess to it......syndicate had trains and guns and shit it was good but wasnt as innovative as unity

    • @jafortune
      @jafortune 6 лет назад

      Unity had fantastic parkour, a beautiful city, assassin outfits that were creative but a bit too flamboyant at times. And everything else was a shit show. Combat was nice in that it wasn't counter kill spam, but as enemy levels increased so too did the player's over reliance on spamming smoke bombs and berserk darts, the only two items more op and problematic than counters. You also had snipers who dealt absurd damage and were way too accurate. Every guard could pull out a gun and force you to stop your combo because human shielding was removed.
      While the open approach to stealth was interesting a lot of it ended up being run around the outskirts of the area until you find the one good path through the area, more paths didn't necessarily mean more good paths. There are also seemed to be more guards with better detection ranges which made it a bit too difficulty in some locations.
      Stealth was too easy to screw up and combat was near impossible at higher enemy levels, a bad time all around.
      Arno was a poorly written, poorly developed character with motives that were clearly stated but seemed fuzzy in action and the rest of the cast wasn't much better. The story was even fuzzier in parts and the marketing team oversold its involvement with the french revolution which was little more than a backdrop to most missions.
      And then there were the glitches and gigabytes on top of gigabytes of patches to fix which made people a lot less forgiving for its flaws, especially for those who don't have unlimited internet.
      Unity might have been innovative, in some sense of the word at least, and definitely, unreservedly, beautiful, but that didn't change the fact it was garbage at many fundamental levels.
      Syndicate might have been cookie cutter to the point of mediocrity, but at least it was competently made and what people had always enjoyed from the series.

      Human Creativity Sure, and purchasing 3 skill tree points at 300 helix per isn't incentivizing mtx when I haven't even been able to get chain kills or chain assassinations (two different skills) st freaking level 28. I didn't have enough gameplay variety to make it fun until I was over level 20. Upgrading a "legendary" weapon to your level costs 3k drachma regardless of whether that weapon is 3 levels under leveled or 20, it makes no difference. You have daily events and timed community events that punish you if you haven't leveled up on their schedule (to drive mtx on their schedule). Yeah, you people excusing this are the ones talking BS.

    • @cindercatz
      @cindercatz 6 лет назад

      Charsinigan Hoodish They are pulling the single player equivalent of what EA did on SW:BF2. The incentivizer is just tedium and time, rather than other players' competitive advantage. I could care less about mp shooters, so this is actually worse to me personally, mostly because they torched my favorite (action/stealth/parkour) gameplay system ever for just another tedious hack and slash to encourage mtx.

    This game from one side is very impressive by its size, I just love to explore and the side quests are not that bad.
    But the one thing that is bad is the quality. They should have let QA do more work because from the start of the game it feels unfinished. For example, I had my first assassination from the target list of the main story to kill, and when I have arrived to the scene, he was already dead. Maybe I have killed him before when I free roamed. But it felt unnatural to come to a place two days later and suddenly get a scene when I like just killed him (the "rest in peace" scenes from AS games).

    My problem with Bayek's story is that I'm bored with Assassins becoming assassins for personal reasons. The one thing I liked about Black Flag's story was that Edward came to the realization that there are things out there bigger than himself. He needed to be destroyed to understand that, but he came to the realization on his own, not out of revenge.
    Characters like Ezio, Arno, and Bayek do it for personal reasons. Which isn't necessarily bad, but Bayek is supposed to be a founding member of the Assassin's Brotherhood. You are telling me the Brotherhoods genesis wasn't the desire to depose those that would control humanity, but revenge for a dude's son getting killed? So far there's only one thing that messes with the lore (atleast I think it does, I'm not an expert on every game)
      But in the earlier times of the hidden blade, you had to sacrifice one of your fingers to use it. Origins is set before any of the other AC games, but Bayek doesn't need to lose a finger to use the hidden blade

    • @rik5384
      @rik5384 6 лет назад +1

      Justa Person Nahh it doesn't mess with lore, I think lazerzz made a video on it or otherwise fizhy or longearedfox. But the thing is that bayek lost his finger in the fight in the bathhouse, and his 'followers' started cutting of their left ringfingers as a sign of dedication to the creed. This need of sacrifice must have been implemented into the system later on. Does this help (ish)?

    This is almost a perfect game at least to me, the setting is so nostalgic and lovable for me especially since it includes the greeks and romans. The wide open desert also gives you that perfect bronze age epic feel. The combat is super smooth to me but maybe slightly repetitive. I love the horse animations and horseback combat. The main thing I'd like to see them improve and build on is the dialogue and trading system, or even companion system. If they made the dialogue more like a fallout or elder scrolls style where you had several choices of what to say and more conversational aspects to it, this game would be absolutely over the top. Maybe one more thing is the loot system, I'd like to see more location and NPC specific weapons, it's almost too random for me to feel immersed. Nonetheless I'm really happy with the product they released and will be playing for a long time to come.

    Can't believe people asserting Black Flag and Origins are the best AC in the series... Those are good games but average AC, that's it. Black Flag's a huge letdown in terms of metastory and gameplay is just below the level of AC3 in terms of ship handling, destruction effects and physics + freerun is half-baked. Still 9/10 people have been licking this game just because it's so cool to embody a pirate in the west indies wandering through an astonishingly huge map even if the rest is repetitive and feels constantly less thorough than AC3. Sorry but that doesn't make it a good AC game. Origins has the same problems. Because everybody wanted Egypt as a setting and for the map is huge, "best AC game ever, fuckin' hater if you disagree" I'm not being conservative, Assassin's Creed 2 and Brotherhood are still far ahead BF and Origins (itself being despite all better than BF) as they are a lot more well-written, varied and well-executed. Origins is lacking the DNA of AC...

      Drive637 saddly these new A.C. "fans" won't agree, because for them the only good games are Black Flag (even when people forget that it was a big fucking lie in terms of story, they promised an assassin's that was a pirate and they just give us a lame drunk pirate who happens to know how to be an assassin) and the Ezio trilogy, none of them didn't even played the original game that's why they accept any half ass experience and praise it like it was A.C. 2

      What sort of lunatic are you? You dare tell me I'm wrong and I don't know what I'm talking about whereas you haven't even played the game and you don't even have one tangible argument to assert your idea (because you have no idea probably). Your comment is just as useless as can be. Your only argument to prove me wrong is "I say you're wrong so you are" although your comment prove me you didn't understand shit as to what I said. If you post to be that unconstructive, please refrain. It's already hard enough to find people to really discuss particular matters, I don't need it plagued by comments like yours.

    • @niamhmorrissey2187

      I think the main reason Origins lacks the "AC DNA" is because, in the time that Origins is set, none of the AC games have happened.
      The game is about a man who at first wants to avenge his son, but then leads to him starting everything. I don't think the game was trying to be the next best thing in the franchise, but more so just telling the story of how it all began, just for the hell of it.
      And I'm okay with that. I played the older ones, I'm not saying the game is better than the first few, but after the last couple of years of disappointment, this is a welcome addition to the franchise and can easily make a top 5 list.

      As far as I am aware Syndicate did not do too well either. Not as well as black flag or AC 3. So the last 2/3 releases not doing too well would definitely be a sign imo. In my opinion, I think the next Assassins Creed game should take place in 13th Century Scotland! During the time of William Wallace! Like, right after his death. It would be the perfect setting for an AC game! Medieval Scotland as an open world sandbox, an original Scottish assassin protagonist, badass medieval weaponry, and a compelling AC story! After seeing Braveheart for the first time a few days ago, it's the perfect time period for an AC game! If Ubisoft needs to take another year or 2 off to work on this project, then perfect! Make it happen Ubisoft!!!

    "Saved the series" maybe for people who don't actually care about the meta-plot. This game added little to nothing to the meta-plot overall. They essentially removed free running; for all those saying free running was bad, get good scrubs, free running needed a few tweaks, but it didn't need to be scrapped into this baby-proofed movement style that feels nothing like AC. Combat? Watered down to having ridiculously large numbers pop on the screen to show you did BIG damage so you can be proud of yourself; A failure of trying to copy combt from other games. The fact is that this isn't a bad game overall, it's just not a good AC game and most of you people in the comments don't get that. Many comments from people who are saying "I didn't play AC 1 or 2, etc. but I love this" are only contributing to my problem with the series now. They don't care about meta-plot because they didn't start from the beginning and they just want to play the game so it functions as a alt history time machine. Proof in that is all these comments about where the next AC should be set rather that what the fuck is happening to the goddam plot. It's turning into a CoD shit hole, plot is different each game and they pump a new one out every year. Played AC 1 all the way up to Rouge, it got bad so I stopped; I thought I'd get something good because of the setting in Egypt which should have a huge impact on meta-story given the location. Complete disappointment. I'm dropping the series after this and I'm glad I didn't waste money on a season pass.

      倪传历 While I agree with you that AC: O is not a pure RPG by a long shot, I disagree with your definition of an RPG.
      Plenty of older games were %100 linear, offered zero choice when it came to the story line. And yet they were RPGs.

      What older games?

    • @I_am_not_a_dog
      @I_am_not_a_dog 6 лет назад

      倪传历 I mean, I’m thinking of NES/SNES RPGs, just as examples. Let’s go with The Secret of Mana (SNES). A fairly popular and recognized “old” (J)RPG.
      Sure, it had a quasi-open-world design... so I suppose you could “chose” where to go. But other than that, if I recall correctly, the story was 100% linear. I don’t recall any “choices” that impact the storyline.
      There are plenty of other RPGs that are linear, with little to no choice- although I admit that the *contemporary* definition of an RPG would most likely include an aspect of “your choices impact the story (or at least the ending)”.
      However, I don’t believe the classical/historical definition of (video game) RPGs precluded games with little to no choice included in the storyline from falling under said definition.
      But again. I would agree with you that AC:O is not an RPG. I think it’s a stealth/action-adventure game with RPG or RPG-lite elements.

    • @charlieni645

      JRPG is generally regarded as a completely different genre from western RPGs. RPGs as a western concept derived from pen & paper roleplaying games like Dungeons and Dragons.
      I admit this is a super messy genre to define as two completely different design philosophy (eastern and western) are both under a same banner alongside plenty of other branches such as Diablo-esque action roleplaying games, but I believe there should be some principles to impede this over simplification and generalization of this genre.

    Most people will not finish this game or explore the entire map. While it was good to be able to get outside the cities, the rpg elements don’t really add much to game. Level grinding and weapon upgrading just makes it more tedious and time consuming to follow the main story line. Unfortunately also the story and the characters themselves are quite weak. It definitely feels more like quantity over quality in many aspects. AC2 had the right balance between narrative and free roam and I wish they would get back to this formula rather than trying to make a mediocre Witcher 3 clone.

    Nice video. I think you hit the nail on its head when you pointed out how important the protagonist's motivation is for the success of this series of story-driven games, in terms of it being relatable. The last time an AC-protagonist's motivation was relatable was in Black Flag, arguably the best AC next to the first sequel. Ed Kenway was in it for the money, and just happened to become an assassin purely by accident. Ezio also had a simple, but very clear and focused motivation and character arc. It's amazing how something so simple, obvious, and "scriptwriting 101" has evaded the writers at Ubisoft so many times. It's as if they're learning as they go, with each new release. :D

    For the new games I wish they would remaster the ezio collection but with the new controls

      The series only lost its way with Unity to be honest.

      No. AC 1 has aged horribly and Unity isn't worth playing.

    For me this one killed the series. In my opinion Unity was the best it's been since AC2, I genuinely believe that if it weren't for the horrific launch state it would've been adored.
    Instead they played it very safe with Syndicate and then changed direction completely with Origins to cash in on The Witcher 3's success and the industry's stupid blind love for half-assed RPG mechanics and a dull loot grind. The gaming landscape never looked so bleak. It's just become quantity and longevity over quality hand-crafted experiences.

      Sloth Empire for me, Unity's story is what made me dislike it. I love the setting and everything, but I feel like the French revolution is sort of like a backdrop and is not included in most of the story. And the ending made me feel like everything I did doesnt matter. But graphics are amazing though. But yeah

      Unity was damn near unplayable sometimes. It was such a piece of shit game imo. This is the turn they needed.

    The game is super fun when you play it at nightmare difficulty, it forces you to be as stealthy as possible, even harder than the death march of the witcher 3. But again the pace, narration and story of the witcher is far more interesting than ac origins. but after witcher 3, origins is the game which kept me invested for a long time.

      Regna Same, like you say the setting is great and the open world looks amazing, but a lot of the gameplay seems to just be hiding in bushes pressing the stealth kill button and getting into the odd fight, plus there can be long stretches of time where you're riding through the desert with nothing around you, almost feeling like a loading screen

    As someone who was only a fleeting fan of the AC series (only liked 1,2 and 4 really) this was a fantastic game. While the main story was a bit bare, the gameplay was fun, the side missions inviting and the world absolutely beautiful. As a history sim it was a fantastic snapshot of Ptolemaic Egypt that made the player feel engrossed in that setting. Add to that the generous and rewarding DLCs and this was one of the best games of last year. I platinumed this game and had fun doing it. Can’t wait for the next rpg assassins creed

    I really hope the next game will be set in Rome and we'll play as Aya (Amunet). BTW you guys remember that there was a statue of Amunet in the Sanctuary under villa Auditore?
    Playing as Aya would be extremely cool especially if they would focus on stealth more and added features from old games like hiding in the crowd etc. It made sense for Bayek to not do these things because technically he wasn't an Assassin through majority of the game. He was a warrior and protector. Aya, however, seems like someone who would focus on working from the shadows and assassinating people with finesse.
