One hidden mechanic that everyone should want to know about is that if you throw a sleep dart at a fire (including the torch or a campfire) it will create a sleep gas that knocks out all enemies in the immediate area.

@@3letta90 i mean, ive played all of them and im a die hard fan of the series and i think syndicate is a good game, my only issues with it is the fact that we can't always have our hood on but even so it suits the setting and the fact that the parkour was nerfed a bit from unity even tho it's still good

Not really hidden mechanics. Hidden mechanics are like how after Bayek looses his hair and beard, if you liked it you can toggle it back on using L2+triangle and R2+triangle. Or how when you’re flying as Senu and you wiggle the thumb stick fasts Senu does barrel rolls. Or that if you crouch by a cat you can pet it. Or that you can lights the braziers and torches in tombs and caves with your own torch by standing next to them with it out.

I hallucinated and saw bright crazy colored flowers. Also, it will rain down bugs at random times in the far out places. It's an achievement if you get caught in it. They rain down and make the sand splat like water dripping.

These aren't hidden mechanics. Most are tips during the loading screen or just obvious stuff everyone will figure out while playing
I have played like 10 hours, and yet to see any of them either by myself or in tips. Well other than the underwater fighting one, I am sure I would have fingured that one out myself.
Well, I'm an idiot then. I'm like 12 hours in and had no idea you have a torch on you at all times. How the heck do you bring it out? I'm on a PS4, so if you or anyone knows the button to press....I swear, I thought I'd done all of them and never saw one.
Although.....I do play with with minimal HUD, so maybe at some point the game told me and didn't put it on the screen because of the setting? Either way, I've been fumbling in the dark pissed off at Ubi because it was so dark in some caves, hahaha.

One I found that isn't on this list - safety roll. If you hold the "parkour" button at the end of a high drop, he will automatically safety roll to mitigate some damage. Obviously, if the drop is too high, this will not matter.

Loading screen tips.
My 2sc (two stupid cents), Bayek can stun during a backstabbing by equipping fists in weapon slot. Bayek can throw transported bodies by aim+fire keys. Sorry for my broken english/egyptian/greek/kushite
Probably most all are already mentioned in the 700 comments, but here's a big list of what I've found that weren't in the video. And many aren't secrets, they're just subtle. This is all just for anyone who doesn't know them already to enjoy.
Combat
Bows
- Range and arc - note that the game looks to actually use arc. You only start noticing it at fairly long distances like past 45m - pretty cool. It auto calculates where you need to aim to account for arrow drop. With the hunting bow it also accounts for draw, so if you short draw, you'll have to aim higher. Nice. ~80m seems to be the farthest distance both the hunter and predator bow register a possible hit. The predator bow seems to have no drop at all. ~40m seems the farthest for the light bow - though it alerted them at ~80m when I shot an arrow. Past 80m no arrows seem to do anything.
dodge - your dodge is very good and can be used with almost no delay. You can get out of many situations - you can usually dodge out of the way if you're fast enough after being staggered or knocked to the ground.
Melee
- critical hits - it seems you get a critical if you att their back even during alerted combat.
- take downs - you can still do a take down after acquiring the assassin blade by equipping fists.
- parry - You can always/usually parry after being staggered.
- walls - foes seem to take dmg from being pushed back into a wall or similar surface.
Navigation
- boats - if you put your shield up, the boat will continue straight at the current speed with no input and you can still steer it.
- carrying bodies/items - you can still jump up and down pretty far. You can sneak. You can instantly dodge and drop the body. You can hold L2 to aim and throw the body with R2.
- roll. You can roll from a fall by holding jump or pressing it at the proper time. It eliminates or significantly reduces your fall dmg. Bayek can fall-roll from about 13m with no dmg, 16m and lose 100hp, from ~20m 800hp. Without a roll, 10m is fine, 13m is 380hp, 14m is 680hp. This was with about 1200hp. It might be a percentage.
Lol. I tried forever to figure out how to roll on landing in syndicate. Tried every button holding and tapping on landing. Tried searching all over the net for how to roll in syndicate cuz I'd seen them do it on a very rare occasion. Didn't play Unity where that was supposedly a challenge or skill you learned. Finally found a dusty thread from unity that mentioned you can roll by tapping the button shortly before you land. I just like rolling on landing man.
Senu
- wiggle control stick to do a barrel roll? Someone mentioned this
- aim down and hold R2 to do a fast dive
- if senu is on your arm and you activate her it's pretty cool looking.
Swimming
- depth - not entirely sure, but it looks like if you dive below 50m, you will run out of air very fast.
- diving - your breath meter will appear (dimly) when you are in water deep enough to dive.
You can hold the dive button as you jump into the water to seamlessly go under.
Other notes
- camera mode - you can also use this to simply get a better look at things at any angle or distance.
- flaming arrow - if you need to light a torch that your torch won't light, try using a flaming arrow since you can move it all around.
- you seem to have many torches on hand and can just pull out new ones if you drop them. Pretty easy to find out, but I didn't find this out for a while cuz I kept picking mine back up.
- leap of faith - If you are near and facing away from a hay pile, under the proper conditions, you can press jump or sometimes drop to do a falling back tuck into it! Pretty sweet.
- if you are crouched under certain circumstances, you can pet cats.
The way I discovered these was by playing the game to my play style, and I love that I have encountered no unreasonable limits
Wow so I can pickup loot while on horseback- amazing so glad you have unlocked this hidden mechanic for me. how ever would I have deciphered the ‘press triangle to pick up loot’ message without this guide. I have also noticed a hidden mechanic with my ps4 - if I press the power button, it turns off! who knew??

About the underwater fighting, if you're swimming and trying to attack something, I actually suggest diving and taking the fight right under water, it tends to be faster, keep an eye on your breath meter though

You forgot to mention that you can now do a back flip when doing leaps of faith. It's a strange mechanic that doesn't work every time you try it, because I think sometimes the game just thinks your trying to climb down, but it's really cool when you manage to pull it off.

Darkdraco002 if you actually want to nitpick, they are scorpio's. Ballista's are more catapult sized siege weapons. I only know this from playing Rome Total War 2.

EuroEngineer ACTUALLY, Scorpio’s are more like the giant crossbows you find sometimes that you can’t fire
Here's a hidden combat mechanic: if you dodge forward then attack (w/ the right timing) it does a unique attack where you rush forward, both light and heavy. Sorta like if you hold the attack button (which they don't tell you about either). With the spear if you dodge forward then tap heavy attack you do a powerful forward leap strike. I didn't know about this until I saw someone else doing the spear attack in the Seleucid arena fight.
You can assassinate enemies from ledges (for example of a boat), through windows, over short walls, from around a corner and though straw walls too. Assassinating around a corner actually pulls the enemy to you like in Syndicate if you time the assassination right, but the camera doesn't change if you stand behind cover like it used to.
bayek is stronger then any skyrim player because he can actually attack under water ...

They do tell you that you can trap braziers. What you didn't mention was fire is more in depth than just arrows and torches. You can also light other sources braziers with your torch or fire arrows. Also, if you get oil on you and the source is lit you can run from the fire while it tries to catch up to you which can make it annoying for anyone chasing you. The oil in the jars also flows downstream if you break them without a fire arrow so they can spread to a much larger area.
None of these were 'hidden'

another thing you can do is travel inf away from bayek with senu seriously you can go around the entire world there is no distance limit to how far senu can be away from bayek (unless your using the mount to auto travel to your destination) then there's a limit and the mount will stop running if you get to far with senu
From my experience on PC, I can say that there is definitely a maximum range at which you will be returned to Bayek.

You can throw carry-able items and people/corpses by holding LT or L2 before hitting RT or R2. Didn't find that out until last night, and I'm currently in end-game going through and getting all the collectibles.

Great content! The only thing I would add is you can charge the massive crossbow in enemy areas and do massive damage (1 shoting everything) just hold the trigger and it pulls back farther. :)
If you call your horse/camel then get on another mount before yours gets to you, it'll follow you around while you're riding another one. So lets say you had to pick up mulitple people, you could have 2 mounts bringing them by riding the one that isnt yours with someone on its back to the place while your horse/camel follows behind with someone else
The Witcher 3 was a good game to me. Not nearly as good as most people thought but good. Imho AC Origins is better in many ways. Also as an AC fan who played each game when they released and then recently again I must say Origins is the best instalment. Bayek an Aya are so human and relatable. May be my two favorite characters

I am a huge AC fan... I have played 'em all. Origins is best of 'em with Brotherhood. (And Rogue is really good too... I just want PS4 version of it.) But I gotta say Witcher 3 is in it's class of it's own when doing this kind of role playing game style stuff. AC Origins is obviously first try on that genre per se, and they may get there... But W3, man... I think I will still play it more than AC Origins. (Which is a great game, even if it doesn't use AC lore very well at all.)
Witcher 3 story is better tho. And Aya seems very generic. Always faster with jokes and extremely badass. Yeah sure. I hated to find out she is your wife. Hoped to romance someone else with bayek.

1:19..I love shooting the big arrows at passing by ships , enemies on their ships..and the small ships , to sink them. I wonder if you can set those large arrows bolts , on fire ?
2:47.. The Signal Braziers , also alert the *Phylake Bounty Hunters* on you...LOL
Another mechanic is , you can enter dark Caves or tombs, and light your torch...then drop it and move away, and light up another one ...this way you can make a breadcrumb trail of Torches (they will go out eventually) so you don't have to get lost in those places..
I am still trying to figure out , how to make SINU my bird , attack Chosen targets (animals), or Harass enemies.
there is a perk for this you need to unlock in the skill tree. I think it is in the SEER skill tree portion. The best part about that Senu will then randomly assist you during fights, specially when you are overwhelmed by many attackers, Senu will swoop down and start harassing a guy.

You guys left two functions out. You can pick up your arrows from dead bodies by walking on them. And you can get Bayeks hair and beard back by pressing LTY for hair and RTY for beard
#1, the game DOES tell you about lighting bows with torches, or do you not read hints at loading screens? Or it might've been elsewhere.... #2 Looting from the horse is obvious when you run over something after killing a supply convoy or w/e from horseback and the icon to loot pops up...... #3 you didnt' know you could use the ballista's in the camps? Could've sworn something told me that....... and it's pretty obvious when Senu highlights it, then you go up to one and there's the freaking prompt to use it! lol I even killed the Phylakitai around Haueris Nome with one. #5 That's not a hidden mechanic! It's FREAKING OBVIOUS when you do the first damn tomb and get an ability point reading the tablet! lol... #6 wow.... you're gettign ridiculous now. Figuring out you can turn on horseback while aiming the bow (or having a sword drawn) comes naturally while you play. It's also handy to keep your shield up while blocking arrows. #7 "you can booby-trap braziers"... the fuck? that's not hidden either, the first damn mission or side quest that had one in the camp pointed that out, or something did..... #8 What're you an idiot? Those are obviously oil jars.... #9 ok that I didn't know. Had no clue you could swing a sword underwater.... #10 really? lmao

I’ve also found a couple times that if you are on a wall and tap the parkour down button and there’s a haystack under you, you’ll do the leap of faith backwards.. doesn’t happen everytime though for some reason

i already knew all of these. a good hidden one would be the dodge attack manoeuvre when using fists. if you keep dodging and then striking the second after you dodge. they wont be able to fight back. i used this when fighting higher level enemies. or how you can charge your sword whilst having your shield up

You can just tap the block button to swivel around on your mount, and with regards to bayeks hair, you have the option on the gear menu next to the outfits thumbnail

The most op thing in the game is Mustapha's Sword. You can just spam your charged heavy attack with instant charge and obiliterate everyone. If you're a dodge god it will be even more OP.

There’s 2 you forgot about, one I can’t remember about, but I’m pretty sure only a few people know about, and how you can pet/feed senu by pressing The interaction button when she is on your arm.
Just remembered , if you leave a body in sand long enough, (without turning off your game) most of your enemies you leave, will sink in the sand.
Another thing they don't tell you is that the taming animals perk is the biggest waste of 3 perk points you'll ever encounter.

I think it's bugged. It breaks their AI, when fights start they disappear, or they become feeble, unable to do damage, and die in one hit. Enemy soldiers suddenly get the Shadow of War Beast Slayer trait. I got that achievement for the Lion and the Crocodile while the Lion was *running away*.
The most recent update log says it fixes the perk.
I selected the perk and when I play it in a bit I'll get back to you on whether or not they actually fixed it.
This would've been very helpful my first time playing the first time i saw a brazier i set the trap without paying attention to what the prompt was for proceeded to clear the area then remembered that i didn't know what it did so i proceeded to light it at which point i was thrown off a nearby cliff

With the mini ballistae, if you hold the right trigger, it powers up the shot to do a one shot one kill attack, dealing damage somewhere in the region of 20000.
I want this game to be successful, but men i start playing the game this morning lot of glitches. I encounter 4 glitches, and one of them was fighting with the bodyguard at the start of the game. I hope this stuff not became a issue like AC Unity. I want this game to be awesome, but is not a good start.
My game has crashed once, but so far I haven't encountered any game breaking glitches. Sometimes the frame rate drops a little bit but that doesn't really bother me. Hope it stays that way!

Here's another one, when on a boat repeatedly press the the triangle button (the one you use to pickup items) cause on the boat you crash into birds so pressing the button you will get the item while on the go.

Also holding the RB button instead of just tapping it gives you an attack combo that deals a fuckton of damage and looks awesome

One thing I found out that I was never told was that you can carry place and toss the red jars of oil that are everywhere, so you can set up a big oil trap or just toss some over a wall or off a roof at someone
You can also follow a npc on horse if you auto track and lock to custom target. go to map first and select the character your supposed to follow.
For the ballista, you can charge it up, it literally one-shots anything in the head, I fully charged it, got a headshot, and did 19,750 damage.
You can also charge the crossbow, just like the bow and arrow to do more damage
I’m pleased filling Bayek as Senu was on this list. I always did that anyway, such a perfect way to get the lay of the land and it’s Ancient Egypt 🦅
One of the games hints during the loading screen mentioned you can sabotage the alarm braziers, not as hidden as you said.

And same with the torch arrow it works with sleep/poison darts just drop the torch aim at it with the desired dart then throw it it’ll cause a radius effect causing enemies to become poisoned or fall asleep it’s good for an ambush on the guys holding a good amount of money in game
Does anyone know what the 'Walk Action' setting does? I've been playing with it for an hour or two and can't figure out what it's for.
David Wade I don't have it but does it let you walk rather than sprint all the time (when pushing the stick) because I've heard that it's new. I don't have yet though
If you hold down the shoot button on the bastille, it charges the arrow and does upwards of 10,000 damage.
Check out Ubicentral's hidden feature video, it actually has some stuff that is missable. (And not mentioned on this list)
PS/edit/thing.. Sorry if I sound like an asshole its just that every single thing in this is so easy to find out just playing normally, its just... Pretty straightforward and predictable :/ at least to me it is.. I found all of these (and a few more ) just by playing the game normally.
If you enemies near burning campfire or, oil that's burn, or you can shoot fire arrow to burnable objects, shoot sleeping dart to the fire.
All enemies nearby will fall.
Using the crossbow is always a one hit kill! Hold down the shoot button to charge shot. Never fails and easy against captains
You can also cover assassinate from low walls or fences and corner assassinations too.
This is really cool. The most interesting to me is lighting the bow using the torch.

Just found a pretty cool mechanic where if you throw a sleep dart at a fire or an enemy on fire it will create a cloud of sleep and everyone in the area will be assassinated
In my opinion, if anything in the game, be it a prompt or a loading screen tip, tells you how to do something, it's not hidden
Uh... you can charge the mounted ballistas to do significantly more damage. I've never encountered a situation where a charged ballista headshot wouldn't one-shot kill anyone in the vicinity.
These are great. I saw another video showing that you could shoot arrows at the cages to let the animals out so they will attack your enemies. That never crossed my mind as I always just opened them and killed them for the loot; never to use them as a weapon.
There's another hidden mechanic,you can use you're shield to charge at enemies with it by holding the parry button as long as you have adrenaline.
Another thing about this crossbows, If You hold R2 on ps4 U will do much more damage, best aim in the head, almost every head shot is deadly
the lack of a database telling you about the historical places and figures you visit really pisses me off
that's why tour mode is there
you also forgot to mention that u can throw bodies while (for xbox) hold LT then press RT

If you hold LMB while fighting an enemy it activates a combo. I don't think this was given as a hint.
Did you know you can hang from the Tower of Alexandria's look out Point with one hand by tapping circle once while you hang, small thing but fun, oh an you a can shoot your bow from hay stacks lol
the game literally tells you all of these (save maybe the mounting the horse while running). If not through tutorials it does so through tips in loading screens.
