With games like this it’s useful to revisit bandit camps you’ve already been too as the bandits respawn so you can play around with the environment and your abilities to learn what’s more useful in future camp raids. I’ve learned to poison enemy corpses and lay them around or throw them at other enemies to kill them slowly.
when fighting against big group of enemies it feels impossible to beat them. Locking only locks on 1 enemy so locking while fighting big groups is horrible. dodging won't work either
Yeah but imagine if they kept the combat the same from the old AC games in an open world RPG game like this, it wouldn’t work too repetitive and boring really and Ubisoft didn’t want that. They wanted people to buy the game not ignore it.
its hard for people that have been spoiled with simplistic gameplay. It still ain't no dark souls as long as you don't go to areas that are higher levels then you and use your dodge a lot the combat is actually pretty easy but it is more fun an engaging then just standing there for one hit couters. So boring.
Anybody else miss the old combat system? Sure this one is a bit more challenging but it doesn’t look or feel as cool and they took out some of the best elements of it like the counters, chain attacks, finisher moves, and those special kill graphics when 2 guys come at you at once and you counter at the right time and then you just fuck both of them up. Idk maybe it’s just me but I wish they didn’t just completely get rid of some of those elements just because they wanted to rebrand the whole game. I’m glad they went the more RPG route but where is the combat I’ve grown to love!
Yeah wtf. Everything about this game looks good but I see the quick super cheesy combat and it takes me out of it. I may be in the minority here but I thought the unity combat system was a pretty good balance between being able to counter but not just relying on that to wreck. You also couldn’t win all the combat like in previous games. Also, not being able to hide in crowds disappoints me totall.
Colin McLaughlin I totally understand this isn't ac anymore combat was my favorite part and they just dropped it completely and it was dumb and unnecessary should have improved off the combat from unity was way harder and the combat just needed smoother animations and could just make the guys harder to hit by making them more skilled in combat didn't have to drop it altogether and honestly think it runied the game completely sad to bc this could of been my dream ac huge open world animals u can fight side missions big story and a bunch of weapons man if they kept the combat couldn't even explain how fun it would be going through all the weapons seeing the awesome kill counters and everything o and add the hidden blade combat to just sad how they took out what made ac ac it's a shame just so people can say it's harder and I think unity fighting harder if ur the same level as the guy ur fighting this game easy as hell just move and swing
He's prolly in nigthmare mode I guess? If so, the difference there could be that you'd only die once or twice in normal maybe, if you're timing is that perfect.
One tip from me: If you fight against Phylakes use spear. Spear is quite effective compare to others weapon, even if your spear is not fully upgraded enough. But, believe me.
so no more cool kill animations and big crowds of enemies? previous AC games, yea combat was simple, but made it look more cinematic with the animations and being able to chain kill. This looks like you're just a warrior rather than an assassin? that's my nitpick of what I've read is a good game overall.
Vinstinctify1 also, the game is well..way more open world than any other title. All other games were in a city or something with a dense population. Here, you can literally be in the desert and in a city the next minute. As well, the world is fucking massive. I think it fits more to have small groups of enemies rather than 20 like we are use to considering the region
Vinstinctify1 So you prefer to smash one button all day long? Honestly, the old system was extremely boring. Besides, an Assassin was not meant to take down 30 enemies in full amour at once, it is just stupid.
Well if theyre not suppose take down 30 enemies, then they shoulda made the stealth in the game that much better. From what i've seen it looks like the combat has changed into any other swordplay RPG where u have all the displays and effects popping up, making it look a bit more arcade-like for me. I can understand making it more of a challenge, but like I said, I prefer the almost cinematic and finesse-looking killing the earlier games had.
It used to feel like the enemies in the assassin's Creed game had down syndrome. No more! Ubisoft has now made ME the one with down syndrome! Also I really can't do the combat in this fkn game but I really want to like it
One thing I liked about the enemies older AC games (AC II and Brotherhood in particular) was the decent variety of enemy classes. I liked how each of them had a unique strategy to beat them. So far it feels like there's just three or four classes of enemies, that is, the regular light infantry with a melee weapon and a bow, the shield infantry, heavy infantry with or without shield and cavalry and feel like I can simply spam a combination of heavy and light attacks with dodges and pirouettes to beat these guys. There are indeed some positive improvements over all but I still feel that a lot more work needs to be done.
@@rayyanali4471 in the first 4/5 assassin's creed games only had the sniper, the light assasin who dodges attacks, the heavy who needs dodging and the default enemy who is easy to kill
Using sleep darts are most useful against lower level enemies you can use sleep dart on enemies that aren’t two levels ahead of you. You can break their shield guard then use it or knock them down and then use it then assassinate them with the hidden blade. Perfect for fighting groups you can use chain assassination while doing so and you won’t take damage when enemies attack you during the process. But if an enemy is at least two levels ahead of you then sleep dart won’t really give you the option to assassinate them they’ll just stand there and it doesn’t last as long but they’ll still be temporarily stunned giving you the perfect chance to use the bow and headshot them (use predator bow because they’re like the strongest bows in the game). You can use assassinations for instant kills on most enemies by getting out of conflict by running away and hiding behind objects like poles, trees, and walls. After you glow up or whatever, it won’t work if you just stand there waiting for the enemy to go to you. You have to maneuver behind them when they get to you then use hidden blade and of course use chain assassination. Say you’re hiding behind a pole and the enemy is going to you on one side you have to move to the other side then get behind them and assassinate (without them seeing you of course). Or if you’re hiding behind a wall that you can climb up on and get to other side of it when they get to you you can assassinate them that way too.
Thanks man that was some useful info. I have played almost all the AC games on PC and I quite like this new fighting system. Its a little harder and I have died many times fighting heavy's and groups of enemies. I never died with the old fighting system. This along with the leveling system has made this game a blast to play for me. Love it !!!
If you're struggling with phylakes, one strategy I've seen suggested is smoke bombs. I found that "cavalry charges" is also not super difficult. Get a heavy weapon, and just do charge attacks as you sweep by on your horse/ camel. Just grab a new one if he knocks you down
Idk who just started playing this like me, but that damage stack ability you unlock late in the archer part for the light bow is clutch for tearing up war elephants. Or outside of war elephant you can really tear up some soldiers/bandits with a light bow with a element attached to it with the damage stack ability. Also used tear up too many time but you get my point 🤣 easy way to cheese enemies and I'm on nightmare mode.
I understand that you've got more chance of missing when not locking on but i find it easier taking out groups of enemies not locking on. I feel more in control and don't get messed up by the camera angels.
The combat is shit. You can literally kill everyone by staying on horseback. Shit is broken. Ubisoft is melting their games together. For honor meets tom clancy
and the question marks in far cry 4 which inspired origins with question marks. mini map is just replaced with a compass it's the same as a mini map just another form of knowing where things are instead looking directly at your map yet ubisoft says they want to encourage the player to explore more so replace the mini map, go far cry primal with a pet eagle still have that annoying tagging system the lazy features they always have is hand holding in kindergarten it's ridiculous ubisoft has too fucking much hand holding & in game guides in far cry & ac.
I love the combat too.. at times its a vicious affair going on onscreen.. other times im getting my ass kicked... combat has a bit of a learning curve especially coming from other games with a very different interface... love it.. but its pretty tough (in a great way)
If you're really struggling in combat you can just get to the "start combat with full adrenaline" perk and use a big-assed axe. The RB-RT attack is insta-kill on anything short of a boss and big damage on boss. Most axes also regen adrenaline quickly to be ready for the next one. There are a bunch of perks that power up this method, too. It is, perhaps, less interesting than other methods but it's hugely effective. Or not: you do you, internet.
Here are some tips that i have: 1.Use parrying only when you can't evade a hit.Parrying needs good timing that's not too hard, but the eaziest thing ether. 2.When you have some distance between you and the enemy charge a heavy attack, and unleash it when you see him uproaching. That will get him to the ground and you can land meny hits on him while he's down.
cursed weapons teaches you how to be great at combat. I used the sarissa spear all throughout the game and combat had never been easier. I play at nightmare difficutly which makes combat sequences really lengthy but doable.
I'm glad they switched up the combat and made it more difficult. It actually makes assassinating people even more important. Fighting a large group is difficult but three things really helped me. 1. Don't get into a fight against those ranked more than two levels above you. Not if you're fighting a group anyways. 2. When fighting a group I prefer using a heavy blade, you can hit more people at once and it still has good speed to go with the increased power. 3. DO NOT LOCK ON. When you lock on to a target you limit your vision. You can't see who's coming from the side or behind you. I prefer to dodge and strike.
Drop a dead body in the water and the blood will attract crocs, pretty sure there's a trophy for feeding the crocs but it's also useful for luring crocs to fight soldiers for you, at least weakening a few of them so they are easier to kill in open combat, and as a bonus you collect croc skins after the fight. One thing I often do is anger a few hippos then they chase me towards a bandit camp, I run straight passed the bandits, maybe take one or two out as I go, but the angry hippos attack the rest of the bandits and I can lose their awareness of me while they all fight. Break a floating jar in the water and you create an oil slick which you can then set on fire, you can shoot a flaming arrow at a floating jar and burn boats with soldiers nearby, sometimes sinking them or likewise for killing or weakening crocs or hippos rather than fighting them at their full strength.. If you swim in the oil or smash one on land with your sword it covers you, and you leave a trail of oil on the ground behind you wherever you walk, if a fire starts and ignites the trail you have to outrun the fire chasing you or you burn. You can use oil jars in a defensive strategy, there's a side mission (7 Farmers) that loosely tries to teach you how, but starting fires makes soldiers or predators go around to a different entry point where you can set up an ambush, otherwise they flank you.
For the Phylakes I found that attracting their attention when you’re at an enemy camp with the giant crossbow works really well, killed two of them when they were both like level 40 and I was only level 20
The combat is pretty easy(in normal mode) unless the enemy is really high leveled. I wonder why some people found it hard. It even regenerates health so quickly. People should play dark souls if they think that the combat in AC origins is tough
11:42 correction the bigger shield enemies can be shield broken with a charged power attack. might be the reason you're getting your butt kicked its not understanding the basic concept of holding a button vs tapping a button
Good video. Most people on RUclips are bad lol, you're not that bad though. Remember push attack (light attack, light attack hold), great follow up when you catch em with dash strike (dash, light or heavy). Charged heavy is great for knocking guys off horses, or getting someone on the floor before popping adrenaline and guaranteeing all light attack hits (melts high HP guys). Everyone needs to parry more, you can charge heavy while dodging, then parry when it's fully charged, drop the heavy to floor them, then finish em on the ground. Combat system is great
Pro tip for killing phylakes at a higher level then you. Start with bringing an ally. You can get a perk that allows you to tame animals. While they are not super amazingly helpful they will take a few hits and also take the agro off of you even if only for a moment. Next up is to use stealth attacks. They do a lot of damage. Finally use smoke bombs to temporarily lose eye line and go for a secondary stab or simply a charged heavy. Next tip, Use fire... Lots of fire... As you can light up a lot of arrows with the light bows and also use fire bombs. All of these perks are easily doable even at low levels. About 15-20 levels should do In short... Tame a lion, stealth attack, smoke bombs for secondary stealth attack, fire arrows with light bow, use lots of heavy/charged heavy to knock them down. This should be enough to kill almost any person at a higher level then you.
Just completed the main story last night, levelled up to 40. Only have two Phylakes left, both under level 40. The two level 40 Phylakes are often in the rocky desert areas. I figured out how to defeat them with minimal damage inflicted onto me - On horseback, I weild my Smoke And Mirrors predator Bow which is on fire (if you don't have one you can just drop a torch and light your regular predator bow on fire using the torch's flame). From a distance behind some sort of cover (large boulder, a ditch) to break line of sight, sink a flaming arrow into the Phylakes face while the Phylake is facing the opposite way. Then quickly run back behind cover. The Phylake will then search where he believes the arrow has come from - while he is doing this, still on horseback, gallop around the other side to find another place of cover and do the same thing as before. The headshots will inflict ~400-500 health, while the flames from the arrow will deplete ~53HP consistently until the Phylake manages to pat the flames out (on hard mode). With a maxed out bow capacity of 9 arrows this is enough to get about 2/3rds of his health off. Then you can charge at the Phylake sinking in arrows from your light bow whilst building up adrenaline and then finish him off with your overpower move. Takes a bit of time but it's better than trying to tank a Phylake and getting absolutely pummelled and dying several times in the process.
I stopped playing the assassins creed series after Black Flag, and when Origins came out I bought it for old times sake. Started playing at first and I hated it and let it sit for a month or so, then I was talking about it to my friend and I hopped on again and now I'm completely addicted 😂. I do miss the old combat but this is way more challenging and I love it. Maxed out every upgrade for Bayek at level ten and it's just too much fun. I love the open world it is now, ubisoft made a bold change but I think I love it.
Unless it’s against a single enemy with a lot of health, staying in target against a heavy hitter is essential because if your camera drifts off the enemy will begin to charge up their attack off screen and you won’t know to dodge
major tip for aco on pc use a controller, K&M you need finger gymanstics to pull off moves otherwise. I had a red enemy that could one hit charge kill me so I stealth killed the camp but the guy was too high so I used flesh toxin. oil pots and smoke and mirrors and let the DOT kill him.
U can actually kill phylakes easily with stealth attack like the hidden blade over and over. First, make sure the phylakes cant see you and use the hidden blade one it. Then, make it lose sight of you. And just do it ovar and over.
The combat plays okay but looks shit. The 'animations' when you are finishing an enemy are cheap af. Also it is ridiculous that when you use the overpower attack with the spear and you stab it through the whole enemy but he just takes just A LITTLE BIT of damage and survives and just restarts fighting you.
I personally think the combat is great, especially after you unlock "attack and push" talent. wow how underrated that talent is, different attack animation for each kind of weapon. It makes the combat SOO much more impactful. I honestly used to hate the combat, until i experimented w the mechanics
Well, you have helped me quite a lot.I was getting my butt kicked regularly.I have figured out a lot about this game but still dont understand things like heavy attack and what buttons you push for that, and how to block with my sheild.
Quick question, I notice once in a while I'll do a "finishing kill" on an enemy when I don't press the R1+R2 buttons. It's almost like the combat kills you could chain together in the previous games. Is there a way to do this on every enemy? Is it random? Is there a technique to it? Any info would be appreciated!!!
You’re first tip was the crucial skill I’d forgotten.... lock on. I was struggling to dodge attacks, this primary fighting tool made battles so much easier. Thanks for the upload Fiz. Reeeespekkk!!!
Great video. One of the things I'm looking for, is help trying to fight a number of enemies at once. You focus on one, only to have some guy come in from the side and mess you up. I'll try taking your bow advice to heart though...just backing away from all of them and flinging arrows at their faces. Yeah, combat is much more demanding in this game; trying to figure out if I like it or not lol
I found that when a Phylake is just a few levels above me that if I ride horse back and attack (while using a shield if the Phylake has arrow's) basically renders the Phylake helpless to attack you if you move quick enough and I must stress using a horse. You won't get the same input using a camel or a chariot just fyi. But yeah I was level 15 or 16 when I started defeating Phylake's and they drop legendary items and cool things like cursed weapons and stuff. And it is very easy to defeat them while on horse. However if he does manage to knock you off it's best to dodge and keep dodging until you can get back on the horse. And continue charging toward him with preferably a heavy or cursed weapon. It'll make it much easier to kill the Phylake without taking any damage. And the charged attacks for all weapons of every kind while on horseback feature a one hit highly powerful slash that will take a considerable amount of damage off of a Phylake. I've also found that this process work's very wonderfully with hunting animals without a spear. And it speeds up you're hunting process. Also Fizhy if you haven't already (which you probably have being the ac legend you are lol) I would look into getting a cursed weapon (preferably that curved sword I can never remember the name of lol) or a predator bow that has the "on fire" perk. If you attack an enemy 1 to 2 levels above you or the same level with a headshot with this bow it'll basically instant kill them. The weapons in AC Origin's are amazing btw. Better then they have ever been in any Assassin's Creed game. And for the people coming here to learn I would say that this game isn't as complex or complicated as it first seems. Just takes some practice and time and effort. :)
haha, I didn't play this game for few years and just got back at it ... But I'm level 28 and I didn't even remember you had to lockdown to your enemies. Thank you mister! I'm gonna go back to school! lol
Best way to defeat the phylakes is to predator bow then run and hide then sneak up for a stealth kill if u have upgraded your blade or just stay on horse and get some heavy attacks in what i found most annoying was the camera especially against the elephants and the daily god thingy fights
Combat in this game is not hard. You just have to pay attention to those ones shield because you have to counter them at the right time if not they will do damage. I was a level 21 fighting a level 4 and he was whooping my ass. The same goes for those Brutes
Yeah, I rarely lock on, but I'm not here to learn how to fight, just to see if you have any good ideas to make me even more awesome. I don't lock on because it sticks me facing one direction, which is bad when you are fighting more than one person at a time, which I usually am, although I know you can cycle to other locks, I'd rather just manually direct a blow, hit and move.
Combat is not too hard guys. Just stick and move and lock on first thing for sure. It's just clicking right analog but worth. Work em like a shark in water if in a group circle and pick em off
Anyone else plays on nightmare, enemy scaling on and a cursed weapon ?... feel like this forces me to play stealthily which I find more fun than just cutting down enemies left and right.
When I started origins I died so many times ,then I rage quit , played dark souls ,sekiro and Star Wars for a month Came back to this game and wiped out an entire base within 5 min without knowing controls how to dodge or block 😀
I got rid of the phylakes by sneak attacking them, Running off, circling back, and attacking them over and over with hidden blade, and attacking them with arrows until they died. That is, If they were alone and not near other enemies. These are guys who had skulls that I took out, It took alot of running away, and circling back, It was crazy overall. I've run out of all the phylakes/most bosses at this point, And I'm extremely bored. I also realized I did literally all the quests/sidequests in the game too. There should be "MORE TO DO" for those who have finished. I also think I'm a combat pro because I've literally taken down an entire horde of enemies on a chariot with only a bow and extremely good timing. I was amazed I even did that though, I was freaking out the whole time, But I made it, I had a bunch of gaurds, and even a phylake chasing me, But I took them all out within an hour or so.
-regular swords with instant charge work really well against enemies with bigger shields (maces are an instant stun to the enemy on hit and they're powerful as hell 😂😂) -use fire elemental weapons (skill on the tree increases overall damage by 50%) -weapons with poison on hit cause massive AOE damage once enemies afflicted die -Dont forget about your smokescreen grenades (unlock the knockdown effect as well) -FUCK HIPPOS in this game so either use a light bow or the "Jackal's Gaze" warrior bow lmao
What about the shield and parade ? Can I hold L1 (shield) or do I have to press it in time? Because I yet have to press parade (circle or b) in time, it would mean that I press 2 buttons in time. And yet, I don’t get parade right- only sometimes ever 5th try or so. What is the red beams when an enemy attacks ? Does it mean that I can block hi and do it NOW or is it a unblockable hard attack ? I don’t like the trend of not explaining anything and having no tutorials. Ok, most tutorials are obsolete and specific questions like mine, were never explained in a tutorial. But in the 80 and 90 they even had printed books in the game package and sometimes theses had 100+ pages !
Pro tip for killing phylakes just fight them on horse back its too easy just keep ur shield on and if u fell from ur horse by chance use smoke and call ur horse back
well it's definitely harder than it used to be- a lot harder. While I mostly like this change, sometimes it pisses me the fuck off. For example being locked on one enemy serves well as long as you're fighting one, two or max three enemies preferably of the same type. When there is a whole squad (heavy, spear, shield...) you're gonna get fucked because you just cant see everyone and cant properly react. Also ditching is annoying too because you have to unlock first and then run and I always forget that... but thats prolly just me
I liked walking through an assassins creed game like a badass without dying, im in it for the story. Origins could be great if you’re max level i hope..
Who else is playing AC Origins again after completing AC Mirage There's a big difference, I catch myself trying to teleport and do multiple chain assassinations 😄😂 Great tip video btw😎
Stealth is possible in this game? I’m only level 7 and haven’t figured it out yet. This game is so different from previous titles....I keep forgetting the shoulder buttons are for attacking, and I can’t highlife enemies anymore and observe their movements through walls. I dunno....maybe haven’t unlocked that ability yet. Still in Siwa.
I'm hit and miss on liking the new combat system. I like the challenge of having to learn the combat and that there's a variety of weapons with levels to match leveled enemies making your progression seem more fullfilling. But I dislike how long it's taking me to learn this combat cause it's pretty difficult. I feel like for the length of time I've been playing, I should be really good at it by now but that's not the case. I kind of miss taking on 30 enemies from Black Flag and slaying all of them. Hopefully in the next AC installment they find a balance between the two. I don't want the enemies to go back to the "taking turns"/down syndrome fight style from previous games but I hope it's not as challenging to get a grip on as it was in this installment. Idk...maybe make stealth more of a priority would help.
ADVANCED TIP : you can throw sleep or poison darts into a fire source and it will create a large plume of gas. I threw a sleep dart into a burning enemy and it knocked out like 6 people. You're welcome
Does actual fire on the ground work as well?

You also couldn’t win all the combat like in previous games.

Garret Garland agree
cody 101 let’s not forget the not being able to hide in crowds. Who’s genius idea was that?
Makes a video about getting better at combat
Dies 8-10 times in his live streams
Diet Toast he's half shit, so he used his half good to give us some tips. Lol
Also, a lot of his advice was, "Run away."
The advice about melee combat starts at 8:17
Mvp
so no more cool kill animations and big crowds of enemies? previous AC games, yea combat was simple, but made it look more cinematic with the animations and being able to chain kill. This looks like you're just a warrior rather than an assassin? that's my nitpick of what I've read is a good game overall.
Vinstinctify1 I think it kind of fits the game though. This is where the assassin order was born so they haven’t developed any techniques yet.
Vinstinctify1
So you prefer to smash one button all day long? Honestly, the old system was extremely boring. Besides, an Assassin was not meant to take down 30 enemies in full amour at once, it is just stupid.
Well if theyre not suppose take down 30 enemies, then they shoulda made the stealth in the game that much better. From what i've seen it looks like the combat has changed into any other swordplay RPG where u have all the displays and effects popping up, making it look a bit more arcade-like for me. I can understand making it more of a challenge, but like I said, I prefer the almost cinematic and finesse-looking killing the earlier games had.
i agree
I, too, would like to pass along some of my combat prowess in this game to my fellow gamers.
When I have some I'll let you guys know.
It used to feel like the enemies in the assassin's Creed game had down syndrome. No more! Ubisoft has now made ME the one with down syndrome!
Also I really can't do the combat in this fkn game but I really want to like it
Chipper McManus the beginning tutorial of the is better; this video was a waste of time for me, and he'll probably teach you how to play worse.
I prefer pc controls
@@rayyanali4471 in the first 4/5 assassin's creed games only had the sniper, the light assasin who dodges attacks, the heavy who needs dodging and the default enemy who is easy to kill
learn to perry.
Just grab a new one if he knocks you down
Also, mounted combat is way easier
Agreed until the enemies shoot you off your mount
I wish the assassinations were more satisfying like ac 1 they felt strategic and very satisfying. But origins overall is really fun
@5:39 - Anyone see that Ibex dodge that arrow by lifting up it's chin!?
Hes definitely watched some combat tutorials
Best tip I can give: Do missions for Reda as soon as possible. I was able to have all legendary gear before level 20 that way
Why am I watching this before getting the game?
lol :D
So your better when you start
No problems for me I love the combat I'm here because I love ACO!
The combat is shit. You can literally kill everyone by staying on horseback. Shit is broken. Ubisoft is melting their games together. For honor meets tom clancy
and the question marks in far cry 4 which inspired origins with question marks. mini map is just replaced with a compass it's the same as a mini map just another form of knowing where things are instead looking directly at your map yet ubisoft says they want to encourage the player to explore more so replace the mini map, go far cry primal with a pet eagle still have that annoying tagging system the lazy features they always have is hand holding in kindergarten it's ridiculous ubisoft has too fucking much hand holding & in game guides in far cry & ac.
ruclips.net/video/tNNeg6ayeJc/видео.html watch this video. This is the best combo video on youtube. Period.
I love the combat too.. at times its a vicious affair going on onscreen.. other times im getting my ass kicked... combat has a bit of a learning curve especially coming from other games with a very different interface...
love it.. but its pretty tough (in a great way)
Blood of Kings6 I feel like your whining about it because you're bad at it...
I think the Combat system is Super in Origins.Takes a little time getting used to ..But its Great .!
In the future,is it possible that you are demonstrating what you are talking in the game...Just asking as a visual learner.
Here are some tips that i have:
1.Use parrying only when you can't evade a hit.Parrying needs good timing that's not too hard, but the eaziest thing ether.
2.When you have some distance between you and the enemy charge a heavy attack, and unleash it when you see him uproaching. That will get him to the ground and you can land meny hits on him while he's down.
I have grown to love combat in this game. It’s a ton of fun!
cursed weapons teaches you how to be great at combat. I used the sarissa spear all throughout the game and combat had never been easier. I play at nightmare difficutly which makes combat sequences really lengthy but doable.
it's only lengthy cause you use the spear I recommend when fighting just one person to go for a sword or anything faster then a spear
Shield breaking? Blocking? Dodging? Where's the actual combat tips?
these things don't work :D so tips are useless
using tools in combat really does make fighting enemies a a whole lot better, especially the firebomb and sleep darts.
The combat is pretty easy(in normal mode) unless the enemy is really high leveled. I wonder why some people found it hard. It even regenerates health so quickly. People should play dark souls if they think that the combat in AC origins is tough
Indeed
I play it at hard and it's not easy
Love the combat. I like stealth more. But in this case, in some situations, I ditch the sneaky approach for some action.
11:42 correction the bigger shield enemies can be shield broken with a charged power attack. might be the reason you're getting your butt kicked its not understanding the basic concept of holding a button vs tapping a button
I'm in love with the Hunter bows. I love being able to take my time to charge up my shots.
About 15-20 levels should do
In short... Tame a lion, stealth attack, smoke bombs for secondary stealth attack, fire arrows with light bow, use lots of heavy/charged heavy to knock them down. This should be enough to kill almost any person at a higher level then you.
Thanks bro...
Just completed the main story last night, levelled up to 40. Only have two Phylakes left, both under level 40.
The two level 40 Phylakes are often in the rocky desert areas. I figured out how to defeat them with minimal damage inflicted onto me -
On horseback, I weild my Smoke And Mirrors predator Bow which is on fire (if you don't have one you can just drop a torch and light your regular predator bow on fire using the torch's flame).
That was literally my experience. Hated it. Abandoned it. Returned to it. Love it.
Just r2 for breaking shield (sometiems hold r2 for bigger enemies) and mash r1, its that simple
I’m having a difficult time fighting enemies with shields. Never can actually land a attack that hurts them..it just hits their shield.
My advice - NEVER EVER lock on an enemy!!
Why's that?
@@timothyfreeman97 cause it's too confusing and you won't see the other enemies while locking on.
hi connor, it is me, bayek
Unless it’s against a single enemy with a lot of health, staying in target against a heavy hitter is essential because if your camera drifts off the enemy will begin to charge up their attack off screen and you won’t know to dodge
major tip for aco on pc
use a controller, K&M you need finger gymanstics to pull off moves otherwise.
I had a red enemy that could one hit charge kill me so I stealth killed the camp but the guy was too high so I used flesh toxin. oil pots and smoke and mirrors and let the DOT kill him.
How is anyone struggling with the combat? It's block, dodge and slash...pretty simple
I agree mate.
Noooooooo! Don't go in like a maniac... I use sleepdarts...
U can actually kill phylakes easily with stealth attack like the hidden blade over and over.
First, make sure the phylakes cant see you and use the hidden blade one it.
Then, make it lose sight of you.
And just do it ovar and over.
Noob tactic... Shoot with bow then use overpower, it isn't hard just have full arrows and possibly a good weapon to hit them a few times.
Maddox Bundy its effective tho
@@darkxxdude6727 but it is noobish
Maddox Bundy i agree, but at least it works but your tactic is better.
All i am saying is that they both work but yours is better.
So we good?
1. get good at headshots early and on heavy enemies 2. use senu before entering forts 3. use stealth often
TheShadow 0071 combat trash
I personally think the combat is great, especially after you unlock "attack and push" talent. wow how underrated that talent is, different attack animation for each kind of weapon. It makes the combat SOO much more impactful. I honestly used to hate the combat, until i experimented w the mechanics
TheShadow 0071 its a game. Who cares
Jebeliddat Yeah... No one seems to actually sympathize combat as combat nowdays.
A ZC chill
I really like using sleeping darts and smoke bombs. It makes you more like an assassin ninja. ;)
ITI Documentaries it happens when you kill the last enemy in your fight, as long as they're not on the ground.
thanks!
Do the gift from the gods side quest! It’s well worth the reward
For the phylakes I'm an expected dark Souls player so I had hardly any trouble with them
Don't use lock, don't use block, use X to evade and spam those RB/RT buttons!
The dodge button is near unforgivable at times but I'm enjoying it all the same!
I died so many times because dodge wasnt dodging and parry wasnt parrying
FYI - Phylakes is pronounced 'fee-lah-kess'. They say it quite a few times in the game, too.
Always equip your weapons with poison & fire. You going at least make their boss weak
or just knock em off a building kills em almost instantly sometimes
for PC, I suggest changing your lock button to mouse 4. that way you can easily click it with our thumb.
haha, I didn't play this game for few years and just got back at it ...
Title: how to be BETTER at Combat.
Advice given for Phylakes... Run away!!!
Hmmm, ok, thanks?
Yeah, I rarely lock on, but I'm not here to learn how to fight, just to see if you have any good ideas to make me even more awesome. I don't lock on because it sticks me facing one direction, which is bad when you are fighting more than one person at a time, which I usually am, although I know you can cycle to other locks, I'd rather just manually direct a blow, hit and move.
Agreed, and I hate the lock-on oscillation in this game. Instead of moving in tandem with combat, you have to use the camera while locked.
Combat is not too hard guys. Just stick and move and lock on first thing for sure. It's just clicking right analog but worth. Work em like a shark in water if in a group circle and pick em off
This game's combat is more awkward than walking into Walmart naked
Anyone else plays on nightmare, enemy scaling on and a cursed weapon ?... feel like this forces me to play stealthily which I find more fun than just cutting down enemies left and right.
on ps4 you push R3 which is the right stick you push on that while looking at a enemy and they you will lock on
When I started origins I died so many times ,then I rage quit , played dark souls ,sekiro and Star Wars for a month
Came back to this game and wiped out an entire base within 5 min without knowing controls how to dodge or block 😀
You can set your arrows on fire by holding them on top of a fire when theyre on your bow
The most important thing to know about the combat is that you can parry every single human melee attack
Honestly locking on makes the fighting harder for me
I was the same way in Witcher 3. It just made me feel like I was too stiff and stuck in place
I mean if your on a chariot your not a pro it's easy to do that just dodge or the arrows and then strike easy
-regular swords with instant charge work really well against enemies with bigger shields (maces are an instant stun to the enemy on hit and they're powerful as hell 😂😂)
-use fire elemental weapons (skill on the tree increases overall damage by 50%)
-weapons with poison on hit cause massive AOE damage once enemies afflicted die
-Dont forget about your smokescreen grenades (unlock the knockdown effect as well)
-FUCK HIPPOS in this game so either use a light bow or the "Jackal's Gaze" warrior bow lmao
Button mashing FTW
No but relay Fizhy I did take on your advice
only thing im smashing is dodge :')
Andyw1228 red means you can dodge the attack with x
Best trick is to oulevel enemies by 31...
Loved the whole "arrow after arrow into someone's face" comment! XD
Fizhy you missed the part where you can charge your heavy attack and break the bigger shields enemies
Pro tip for killing phylakes just fight them on horse back its too easy just keep ur shield on and if u fell from ur horse by chance use smoke and call ur horse back
Throw sleep darts a phylakes prey. You can then take about one third of their health with a stealth kill.
ive learned a combo 1 heavy attack then the flurry of light attacks if you have the push skill the just hold the right bumper
well it's definitely harder than it used to be- a lot harder. Also ditching is annoying too because you have to unlock first and then run and I always forget that... but thats prolly just me
Similar to the witcher you wouldn't want to lock on when facing more than 1 enemy because they all attack at once
The combat system in this games sucks after coming from Vahalla, going to hard to finish this game
I liked walking through an assassins creed game like a badass without dying, im in it for the story. Origins could be great if you’re max level i hope..
Who else is playing AC Origins again after completing AC Mirage There's a big difference, I catch myself trying to teleport and do multiple chain assassinations 😄😂
Great tip video btw😎
10:15 👌 NICE
Stealth is possible in this game? I’m only level 7 and haven’t figured it out yet. This game is so different from previous titles....I keep forgetting the shoulder buttons are for attacking, and I can’t highlife enemies anymore and observe their movements through walls. I dunno....maybe haven’t unlocked that ability yet. Still in Siwa.
I use the light bow and hunter bow but I’ll trade the light for warrior and and hunter for warrior. I’ll switch based off the situation
Idk...maybe make stealth more of a priority would help.
for PC, remap your lock on button to mouse-5. it just works better
