2024 Dodge Hornet Lineup Overview & What’s New?

- Today we have a lineup overview for the 2024 Dodge Hornet. The GT returns for its second year, while the R/T is brand new for 2024. The Hornet was announced as a new compact SUV/CUV last August and looks to be a staple in the lineup for years to come. Dodge has been without a smaller van or SUV for a few years now after the cancellation of the Journey and Grand Caravan, so this looks to try to fill the void with classic Dodge muscular styling, performance, and class-exclusive features.
This video covers the whole lineup and all GT and R/T trim levels in-depth. For each model we look at the different features/options, engines, packages, wheels, and interior!

Rather than being branded as an Alfa Romeo and a Dodge, Stellantis should've relaunched Lancia with this platform ✌️
So the charger ev was unveiled as a 2024 model year, but none are production ready yet? The 2024 lineup would be this, durango and nothing else?
It wont come out until spring or late summer next year
You are correct, I think they are just buying time for the EV to be ready and also the Hurricanes to be ready for the Chargers/Challengers (or milk the last sales for the current muscle cars before those come out). Once production ends at the end of this year on the current stuff, we should have a lot more info coming out
LET ME TALK TO YA!
Over the last several weeks, I’ve read quite a few of negative comments about the Dodge Hornet and I think it’s totally unfair!! One thing I’ve seen people say is “how could you replace the hellcats with this”, that is literally not what it was manufactured to do. Dodge CEO Tim Kuniskis has never made that statement and Stellantis has never made that statement either. I am currently working at a Chrysler dealership and actually have a Dodge Hornet myself and I love it! I understand that with anything new and different there will always be criticism. Also, they criticize that it’s a rebranded Alfa Romeo. I’ll tell you this about Alfa Romeo, I had a customer who purchased a Jeep from me not too long ago. They were coming out of the Stelvio model and told me they loved the vehicle and the reason they wanted a Jeep was because they wanted something for off roading but said they loved the Alfa Romeo Stelvio. My message to everyone criticizing this car, give it a chance!!
A lot of people hate the Hornet, but I think it looks amazing!
It does look really good, would rather have this than like a Kia Soul or something else
does the automatic have the shifter that you don't know if you are park our drive. ?
The GT is one of the cars my wife would like to try in her pursuit of a new car to replace the '12 Legacy. The dealer in town can't seem to keep them in stock...they get one, it goes in short order...which is good! She's more of a sedan person but is looking at this - mostly for me as I'm a Mopar guy - because the Charger is too large. All I know is every time I see these cars with that 2.0 Hurricane, I wish they put it in my Dart GT, and gave me a GTS, GLH, or SRT4...like was promised!! Keep up the great info...looking forward to seeing your next update for that body on frame RAM Dakota...my next vehicle.
The dart with the pentastar would’ve been fun too
Thanks for the update Marspeed. I'm a fan of the new Hornet.
I drove one already I really like the paddle shifters really quality but no other Dodge interior like the hornet
Great car for the 🍀 ladies 😎✌️
How many have they sold to date. I am afraid they are repeating the fatal error that they did with the Dakota - price it above the cost of a full size pickup. I think you can get a similarly equipped Durango for the same price ( or less) than a Hornet .
For the hybrid this is true. Sadly the Durango starts at 40000 now so the hornet gt undercuts it by about 10000.
I can’t access any sales totals yet, maybe by January I can. The price for a GT is okay considering performance and likely gas mileage (figures aren’t released) but the hybrid is just too much, don’t see them selling much of that. $10k difference for the identical car and 0.9 seconds faster in 0-60 isn’t worth it
I’m a truck driver I’m on the road a lot I’ve yet to see one of these hornets on the road I’ve seen one sit in front of a dealership since they first came out
When is the viper coming back
Never...at least in the the form it was. That was a very low selling vehicle and I doubt it ever made any money for Dodge. Only the pure enthusiasts bought them and since they had to implement side curtain airbags which wasn't possible in the current design it wasn't worth it for them to redesign a new car. One of the reasons why it was canceled.
I have no desire to own a gas vehicle that needs to be plugged in. No thank you. Good video.
Yeah not many people do. Sucks making content like this when a few years ago I was talking about Demons and Redeyes
@MarspeedCars I picked up on how you feel about the latest Dodge news while I was listening to your "presentation", especially when you did the really short recap. Hang in there, hopefully it will get better with the Hurricanes.
This isn't anything Dodge would do on there own, I'm half wondering if Stellantis is making them do this. 🤔
And the government
For sure, Stellantis did the Alfa Romeo Tonale (platform twin) first I believe and Dodge has a void without the Journey/Grand Caravan so they figured why not economies of scale it’s the same car let’s just sell it for cheaper and see who buys it
So it's more expensive than my Durango GT and almost as quick as my F150 Tremor .. it looks decent at least :)
Nice car for Europe.
Btw, when Dodge Challenger 0-60? 🙂
Chrysler should have made this a hatchback or a station wagon instead of an SUV
The Alfa Romeo Hornet 🤣
40k for 1.3L 4cyl engine? good luck
Not as bad as the Alfa version that is 55 grand for the exact same thing.
well its not just a 1.3 liter engine. It's a 1.3 liter turbo engine with an electric motor on it which is faster than a Challenger/Charger GT with the V6 and it gets better milage doing it.
I refuse to buy a new car until the whole screen on dash trend ends.
With the EV push, you can bet the entire front dash will be one continuous screen in loads of cases.
Even the GC and Wagoneer are almost there, but with a few breaks 🫠
@@MaddJakd the only modern vehicle I’ve seen so far besides trucks that have an integrated dash is the Ford Bronco, but we will see if that changes.
First, yet to see a Hornet IRL. PS: Hornet will be a BIG FAIL should have redesigned the face and just called it NEON
Yeah I don’t feel that people want a “performance/muscular” CUV, that’s not the point of these vehicles. Neon was a recognized name and would have drawn more people towards it for sure
I only clicked on this video to support your channel because you have been so good in the past. However I'm absolutely not interested in the hornet at all!
Waiting for the electric ram truck to come out
Mazda Cx-5 256hp/320lbft torque ....the fastest CUV, I would like to see these two CUV'S in a 1/4mile...to say THE fastest is The HORNET is , or may not be accurate...[non-hybrid only ]
Looks like the CX-5 does 0-60 in 6.2 sec, 1/4 mile 14.9 sec. The GT is 6.5 sec and 15.1 so just a bit slower, but the R/T is 0-60 in 5.6 seconds and 1/4 mile in 14.3 so that will be quickest.
IMO this car should be priced in the mid 20's, no where close to 40k CAD. Who's salary or wage shot up 100%?? This is nuts.
What AWD vehicle today has this amount of features and is in the mid $20,000 range?
I don’t get it. Why not just use the Omni name instead of hornet. It would fit the spirit of the car better.
Oh look, it's a re-badged Compass....
A lot people say the hornet is a cheap watered-down version of the alfa romeo tonale.
Very little changed between the two. Shockingly little actually for the price difference. The hornet gt is a good deal comparatively at least.
Yeah it’s actually a good deal, the Alfa is pretty much 20k more and you have maybe some better leather and that’s it haha
Que merda, they seriously put the 1.3l turbocharged firefly from PSA on a American Dodge?! I see that one in some Renegade, Compass, Strada, Toro, Argo, Cronos and the last UNO... not to mention, C3 and 208/308. I was expecting the Hornet R/T to be a hybrid with the 2.0 Hurricane, that's desappointing...
Yeah 1.3 firefly with the electric motor on the rear axle, pretty sad lol
I think they should have given it a different name. Hornet just doesn't fit it. Maybe should use the Neon or Stratus name and have the hornet as a package. Also, it's not that impressive.
A dressed up Fiat Hornet for 45,000$ for a RT good luck with that
I don't see the hybrid selling well. The gt makes some sense at the price but the hybrid is crazy
I predict this wont sell
This thing is too small on the inside. If you are anywhere close to tall the back seat area becomes cramped real fast. This is a useless replacement for a SUV/CUV that used to have (optional) 3 rows of seats.
I am positive the hornet is going to fail. It may make it 5 or 6 years, but sales will be low. I don't think it will be reliable as most Euro cars do not seem to stand up well in the US. Talking about you BMW. Time will tell but the top of the line Hornet is only $5000 less than I just paid for my 2023 Charger RT. Sorry but it will not win me over. Ever!
I like the idea of the hornet, I dont like the execution.
Front wheel drive dodges and alfas ....
The hornet will be a complete flop.
I think the only thing that’s impressive about the hornet is the 9 speed automatic transmission. That’s quite an upgrade compared to the 8 speed automatic. I’m sure it’s for fuel efficient purposes but that’s still pretty good. I can only wish if they had that 9 speed in the newer chargers and challenger with a hemi
I would normally agree but I know this transmission had major issues and recalls when in the Chrysler 200 and some Jeeps. I assume those issues are resolved but still has me weary
No.
8 gears is more than enough, especially for the performance stuff.
SMDH
Chevy Trax is $21K. Trying to sell this at $30-40K is idiotic...
Yes but you are getting a Chevy and they are built like a frickin toy, all plastic and low quality materials
Trax is fwd and a 1.2l 3 cyl engine. This is awd 4 cyl turbo with brembo brakes, Michelin pilot sport tires, sport suspension. Not a super close comparison.
I will say for the price you get a lot of stuff on any of the models. A GT with super track pack is like $33k MSRP and is full of stuff like the adaptive suspension, brembos, 20” wheels, nice Alcantara seats and decent performance. I just feel that CUV buyers want cheap shit like the Trax, performance buyers would just get a Challenger or Mustang anyways
@@MarspeedCars agreed. Not sure if the market is there for this to sell in as high of volumes as they hope. I can see it making sense for areas with harsh winters where people want a fun car but also need AWD and ground clearance.
Sux! 👎👎✊️
🤮
It looks like it's super sensitive about it's pronouns.
Never
another ugly compact suv
wont beat the kona n 0-60 5.5 seconds
Hornet GT is a lot faster than advertised. They try to make the hybrid sound faster but it's not. Still gets beat by the Kona but Kona is tiny and fwd and more expensive
Well PowerShot R/T is rated at 5.6 seconds so it’s fairly close
@@lawnmowerlarry I didn't think the Kona n is more expensive
@@josephohara6588 Kona n starts at 36285 with destination.
