@@elvistwattya Dodge that is based on an Alfa Romeo that is based on a Jeep that is based on a Fiat.
The starting point of all this disgrace is the Fiat 500x.
Then the Jeep Renegade came, then it has been reworked A LOT in years, for example by changing the chassis to use two different AWD systems, or for being a plug-in hybrid, or both.
When everybody was convinced that FCA (now Stellantis) wouldn't make another car on that chassis because it was old and extremely painfully adapted, the Alfa Romeo Tonale was presented.
And now, just by changing a couple of logos here and there, we have the Dodge Hornet.
In an almost 15 years old chassis.

Right? There's value and money in cutting costs, using cheap materials, and not investing in reliability. Sometimes, a company needs to do this. I bought a red Dodge Hornet with the Track Pack a few weeks ago and it really is a lot of fun to drive. I generally drive pretty relaxed in town but on highways, I'll get on it from time to time. I'm clocking in around 5.9-6.0 seconds 0-60 mph at ~700 ft above sea level. Although, I would say the car shines in 30-70 mph passing power. You'll be cruising along and then get on it and the car will surprising pull really hard with a pretty wide power band. Time will tell how reliable the car will be, so I went ahead and got an extended warranty from the dealer I bought it from. I cross-shopped this with a CX-30/CX-5, Kona N, and a Crosstrek/Outback.

As a recent new Alfa owner and now fan/supporter of the brand, they don't deserve the rep they currently have anymore in my opinion. I've stated in other videos about the Hornet that if Dodge (Stellantis) can bring the dependability up to the level of at least the outgoing models of the Charger/Challenger within the first two model years, I think they will be able to gather up some market share.
People like me will be watching them closely for recalls and dependability issues... especially major ones like the Dart had. Their non-V8 engines have not had the best track record over the history of the company. I want to see them succeed. We can always use another successful auto manufacturer, because it makes everyone else step up their game.

The front end gives me modern eagle talon vibes. I love the idea of this sweet little crossover. Why'd it have to be a dodge?

I am Old, Stodgy, & and Conservative. The mature design & build of my Dodge Mini Van served me well. Darn seats weighted a TON though (year before fold-ins). Hopefully my Third Generation, Kia Forte (non-turbo) will serve me well also. I would enjoy fancier, I just don't have the time or money to fritter away anymore.

Ive had mine for just over a month and other then software issues. :( It works pretty good, it does have a little kick to it when the turbo kicks in, but the continuous warning lights coming on are getting to be a little too much. I know all the ones sold in my city all have software issues.

I have one as a service loaner right now, the weakest points are the seats, feel of the steering wheel, laggy reverse camera, and my personal fave the door locks lag to unlock the car. The handling is good but its so uncomfortable on the inside I hate driving it.

I love when automakers make special badges for their vehicles. Toyota does that a lot and it’s one of the reasons why i like them. Too bad that it’s usually reserved for their domestic market. Like the Venza, which is called a Harrier everywhere else in the world, used to have a harrier badge, but the current generation don’t get them anymore, even on Harrier named models.
