I'm 70 and have mobility challenges. I'm so grateful for some of the things I did back in my 30s. Perennial flower beds, buying a house with few steps, washer & dryer in the bathroom. I wasn't thinking ahead, I just got lucky.
Please get Spencer a fan to keep him comfortable when he's working! Your kids are growing up so fast!
It's insane how time flies. The kiddos are so big and you guys have advanced so much.
Spencer does not give up, no matter how annoying or hard a problem is, that is the key to success.
FYI composite decking is extremely hot to walk on, and it fades in the sun. If you ever have to replace any of the boards you can not match the color. Of course it also costs more. FYI
Agreed I hate our composite deck just because it is so hot, maybe if it was covered it wouldn’t be so bad fyi
It's so nice though not having to deal with any maintenance
Glad you were able to retrieve some of Spencer's work. Happier still that you were able to retrieve footage of the children. Triple backup those files, it is going to be the most precious possessions you'll ever own.
To remain hydrated, put a pinch of celtic salt on your tongue, let it dissolve then drink a glass of water. The water enters the cells better to keep you hydrated. You guys are adorable!
Nobody here has celtic salt.that i can find...amazon has none either.
The screw was in the way, it's not a mess, it just is what it is. After changing the structure. If this can cause instability, then it is fixed with two additional screws above and below the box.
Sometimes things have to be redone, that's part of the process and completely normal!
I'm happy to see you were able to rescue some footage, made for an informative and entertaining episode. Thanks!
Taking that screw out like you did was so clever! Love your family. Y’all are awesome! The cabin is going to be really beautiful!
Hey Spencer, welcome to the wonderful world of computers !! Lol !! McKinsey, put a paint brush in those kids hands and show them how to stain that deck. They are getting so big now and they love being around you all working . They are so cute. Give Beau and Cam a big hug for me and tell Bear and Io I said Hi. God bless you all.
Your video's take me back to the days I built homes... There is no better feeling than building your own home... Lots of work but well well worth it..
If you want to cut down on maintenance of your decks and railings, switch to Spar varnish. It's a marine product that people use to preserve wood finishes on boats. It's easy to find at your local big box hardware store in the paint dept. It will last a lot longer than 1 year.
Was going to say this !! !00% with you. I work on solar on a LOT of yachts.
@@yankey4 Easy recommendation since I am a navy veteran and have owned several sailboats in the past.
My thoughts exactly. Great advice.
You should apply when less humid outside to assist in drying right?
On face book. I sent them a link to the stuff they use on the Yacht Club. It's not letting me post the link here or I would.
I hear you about the decking!!! We are currently in the process of restaining our decks before winter and we've got 540sq ft of deck! Looking back, I wish too that we would have just started with composite deck, but MAN!!!!....it's like 3x the cost- and now we're retired folks and too cheap for a composite deck do-over, nor do we want to pay someone to come out and re-stain it for us! We just got the sanding and powerwashing done, and I was able to remove a lot of the redwood stain we had used in the past with sanding, so I've decided that it's just going to get done with a CLEAR waterproofing stain, (deck boards are redwood). I can just wash the deck off next year (and every year from now on), with a graden hose sprayer and re-apply the same stuff- won't need to powerwash it OR sand it ever again! Give it another coat in the spring, and another in the fall until we move, I guess!! LOL!! Cabin looks great! I can't wait to see it moved to the spot you created for it in the mountains! Love the videos and look forward to them every week!
Nothing like doing electric during a downpour! Marine stain is the way to go! Cedar lasts a long time, marine stain lasts longer than you would expect.
Spenser, low to mid nineties is awful as well. You two are doing a great job!!!
WOW those beautiful children are growing so fast. GREAT WORK on the Cabin, THANK YOU for sharing 👏🏻👍🏻🙏🏻🙋🏻♀️🇦🇺
Spencer has become a master of all trades when it comes to building. You have come a long way from the beginning. Love seeing the children helping you! ❤ staining looks great. Get some stain used for boats and it will last much longer.
Also a Box fan couldn't hurt to use in the cabin your building.
Do you know if he is a licensed carpenter or self-tsught? If self-taught, has he ever spoken of where he has learned and is learning all of his trade skills? Thanks.
RUclips videos is where he has learned most of his skills.
@@terrikopke3496 *_ But clearly Missed out on how to avoid chopping holes in the timber just to install a LIGHT SWITCH.... there are REMOTE SWITCHES that you can "GLUE" to the wall without complicated wiring! _* ruclips.net/video/UG-lSPxNWmc/видео.html! @lifeuncontained @life.uncontained
I was thinking how much the children have grown this summer. They are so well manored and funny to se their personalities developing so much as well.
Spencer, love the end of the video , Dad is super fast. The children have really grow up a lot. glad that you were able to get more video footage that you through you had loss . Bless you and the family. David B., Utah. ♥♥♥.
No losing Data on this one ! Glad to see you back on track Guys ! 👍🏼😁👍🏼
Bear is saying “Hellooo”…clear as a bell! 😎👍
Great job with your rough in wiring work. When you finish a circuit check it with your multimeter and make sure it has a ground connection. Very important for you and your family’s safety. I’m not an electrician but I’ve put in new circuits with a electrician and he taught me to check for ground. You have a beautiful family and I know you do good work and provide for them. Thank you for another great video. Sorry for the long rant. Jerry D. Western Massachusetts.
I'm very glad to see you back up and running again. WOW! That rain is L O U D on the cabin roof.
The wiring is a long process if you have to keep checking that the box's are in the correct position. it now looks like you have it all done now Spencer, the coat of stain on the porch looks very good, Cam and Beau are a good comedy duo.
Do a couple of coats of poly over the stain so you only have to maintain it every couple years instead. Just a little advice . You guys are crushing it on here very inspirational. Keep up the good work
Pure family, roll models , dedicated work ethics , and all the love that you give each other shines brightly for your viewers to see. Thank you for sharing it also brightens our lives as well.
My favorite RUclips channel and family! Glad you hadn’t lost everything!
Spencer is back in his element with this build. So much more knowledge than the original. Much more faster process.
What happened to the original?
You might have to stain that Deck a lot, but Man does it ever look beautiful when you're done !!
Marine boat will hold out longer.
Cedar log is my favorite one.
Hey Spencer, when it get that hot,I hope you are staying hydrated. I know it's disappointing but the footage you do show us is remarkable. The transformation of what you guys do is amazing 😊
The baby in the background is just so sweet!
I wouldn't call a cedar deck a mistake, but a learning experience. Plus a sealant might help it stay better looking longer. Now you know better what you prefer. It's pretty much that way with all of life.😉
I learn that way too!! You both are doing great, everything looks wonderful! GB
I say something similar. I don’t learn from the easy wins but I do learn from failure. It’s easy to accidentally give up on something you’re doing right but hard to repeat the same mistake.
I love your page, posts, videos, etc... God bless you 100 fold!
Your video's are just not long enough!
I haven't created content for a long time, once the kids show up they're all grown up! God bless your family. 🙏
I love how in America you can do your own plumbing and electrical work. Not permitted in NZ. Your videos are too short. We need more! I love watching both of you, especially the interactions.
Nice to see another Kiwi enjoying these guys 😊❤😊
You can do what ever you want to cargo trailers, but building a real house no.
Spencer did it!!! He got the light switch in!
Yes anyone who has the budget for composit decking thats building a deck should definitely do that.
I dont believe its just cedar because ive had to restain decks quite often. The brutal summer sun and rain and winters like that bad ice storm yall had a few yrs ago can really age it quicker.
So smart idea to use composite decking at your mountain cabin.
I absolutely love the color of the cabin and the black window trim.its going to look amazing in the woods at mountain property. You really thought that out well.
Home away from home is going ro be so cool and what a wondeful place for the kids to grow up in.
It amazes me how much spenser knows and everything he can do.
He reminds me of Trent of Trent & Alley and also Josh of WWOG Josh & Erin.
Very talented guys and gals too.
Thanks cant wait for next week.
Those kids adorable .so cute 😊
It bears repeating, Spencer is a beast. Hard worker to the core. Dude never stops and is constantly in brutal heat.
I'm a professional painter. I use Cabot Australian Timber Oil on a LOT of boathouses, docks and decks. It generally lasts about 5 years in direct sun with heavy summer foot traffic. Everything is looking great. 👍
I love how the kids went ahead and ran in circles real quick before going back inside 😅kids always get the last say 🥰
Yeah!!! LOL!!!😄
Lol definitely 😂😂😂
I love there kids they are helping mom n dad and out having fun and being creative instead of glued to a screen like most kids now days ❤
@@TrickyChi No child should ever be given a tablet or cell phone way to addictive. So glad I grew up without either and was able to play like a child should.
@lance9249 I agree I grew up when 8 bit nintendo was out mom n dad said I could only play it a few hours on weekends I played outside n inside n with cousins and friends and was very creative with play time plus I loved learning how to cook n hung out in grandma's kitchen alot and helped my mom alot with baking plus my dad was cheif custodian as his day job and I didn't want to stay in study halls so school allowed me to skip study halls n help my dad I love moving and staying active my dad n uncle had a lawn care buisness when I was younger and I helped with that too from a young age in winter I shovel driveways for elderly neighbors in return for there companionship and little tea time my dad was also a firefighter and EMT I hung out at firestation alot while he was on calls one thing firefighters didn't have alot of Time for was cleaning firehouse I would do it while they was on calls n I still had time for homework and little TV before they got back n I help them wash n restock the trucks
Amen on the composite decking. We had a huge cedar deck that spanned the entire back of our home in San Antonio. The amount of time and hard work-- plus the cost of quality materials to restore it were RIDICULOUS.
A rainy day is always a great to do inside electrical installing to stay dry and sort of warm. Glad to hear you found some more footage you thought was lost. Thanks for the post and hopefully this video also reduces some financial loss too!! We'd be watching.
As for the deck, you might consider using a floor mat(s) which could reduce re-staining maintenance. Also, don't forget Winter is getting very close - Are you ready for it? Until your next video, Stay safe and healthy; Enjoy your life too!! Peace out.
You and your family are awesome 👏. Thank you for sharing your life with us. Blessings, Carlos ✝️🙏❤️😊🇺🇸
Making progress, have a good week and count your blessings amen.
It's great to get a couple more things taken care of and off the list. Y'all are getting things done.
Literally running a round on the deck. 😂😂😂😂😂 so cute!
I Remember when you FIRST did the staining. It looked fabulous . L.O.L. IT'S so worth it. SUPER FAST zoom zoom cute.
This is cool that you were able to find some more footage. I kept thinking when I heard the rain thank God that you have the major part of the outside of the container work done. This way you can work on the interior and stay dry and check for any leaks with the work that you have done so far. Thank you for continuing to share as much of y'all's life and the work that you do with the containers with us. May y'all have a good one. Have fun take care
Good choice using composite decking, used it in Australia where the sun and bugs destroy hard wood so quickly, the latest stuff is awesome.
Seems like its been 5 min since the kids were babes-in-arms, how they have grown, I'm so glad you didn't loose aaaallll the footage.
Your kids are so cute ....enjoy them well...times go by too fast😊 and so is your many goals ahead, a wonderful blessing🎉
Just love every video you put out❤
The Wee ones are so darling. Like how things are turning out with the cabin
Love watching your videos. It freaks me out a little bit though watching the kids grow up so fast and knowing that time it’s just slipping by. Kind of scary. 😢 I guess when you’re my age, you know you don’t have as much in front of you as behind you, even though you think that everything is just gonna be the same. Enjoy every minute. ❤
Composite is plastic. People are generally trying to reduced their plastic consumption. After all plastic is in our water and in our bodies. Using natural materials you truly understand what it means to have a home. What it cost in the way of time for upkeep. Your using solar, your collecting rainwater your going to use plastic. There is a disconnect there. Good luck. It's your home. I wish you the best.
I have been a loyal fan for years and keep waiting for your posts. They are very good and maybe a little too short for my liking, I would welcome longer ones.
But the one thing that makes me wonder is that I don't see you guys having a cup of coffee and/or a sandwich once in a while. Not even a coffee mug around? IMHO it would be more engaging and natural to show some of those for a holistic picture of your lives. I am sure you are not mindlessly building all the time, there are those breaks and it would humanise the build.
Best wishes!
I love those fur babies
😂😂 Those two cracked me up when you told them inside, & they did some laps first!!😂😂
Great footage today, I always hate hearing the ending music, I swear the time flies by on you guys' footage!! ✌️🫶
She just said “SUPER DAD”. That’s special
These guys never fail to toast our buns with their fire content 🔥.
😂😂
Have you guys thought about staining the deck and then putting a few coats of spar urethane over it? It’ll make it last a lot longer! ❤
So happy you are moving forward. Love seeing your progress.
Stain the deck and then put a clear coat over it with a little sand in it so you don't slip, Would last much longer.
I can sympathize and relate to how hot it can get while working inside a container. It's fall and the high was only in the low 80's when I had to rest my hand on the south facing wall, to catch my balance while working on a ladder and slightly burned that hand. I was curious why it felt so hot, so I went in the house and grabbed my temp gun. The metal on that wall read 126 degrees inside the container. Keep up the great work.
"Belt and suspenders" approach! Hahaha, I've never heard that phrase before, but it's immediately understood what it means.
🙋♀️❤️ The kids are so cute! They play so nicely together!
Hello there, how are you doing?
Those children have the most wonderful life and it's dow to you pair well done love your home love your life ❤
You folks are making great progress and will be sheet-rocking real soon. Blessings to you.
My SD cards are backed up to my computer. From there to an expansion disk. From there to a NAS. I have over a million pictures and videos from the 1970s forward, none lost. Given your content is your livelihood so backups should be a priority.
Thank you for sharing your lives and children. Love from NC
Hope you guys enjoy the week! Love you all ❤
Famous last words " you can't be running around out there"😅😂😂😂 I use yacht varnish on my outside table works beautifully.😊
Cooler temperatures but still hot inside the box. Planning for outlets and switches. Thinking ahead about drywall, taping and accessibility. Applying some lessons learned from previous builds.
Some high traffic areas exposed to the elements, fade faster. Just have to recoat as required. The same occurs for stained boat decks and trim exposed to the sun, salt and sea. Small deck and railing looks good once done.
Your dog said HELLO to each child as it approached
Good morning 🌞 see kids big help with deck & cabin 😉 they're so cute 🥰
Hello there, how are you doing?
You guys sure do a very good job. Love watching what all needs doing. Will be awesome when all done
Great job!👏🏼😁! Y’all continue on and not letting setbacks get in your way! Positivity and Ingenuity is what’s up!😁. Have a Blessed week!💖
Like a Classic Wood Sailboat, The Wood is part of the beauty and charm. Some finishes can stand up to punishment that will last longer.
Just think of how you feel every time you see it when it is done, it's worth the extra work. Like most things in life, there is a cost and if the (thing) is worth it. With all that metal, the natural addition of a wood deck and the lower siding fit like the last piece of a big puzzle. Plus in a few years, that can be a summer (spring, fall) project for the kids to help with.
I'm glad some of it was recovered 🎉
Just a thought but are you planning on drywalling the whole interior? Or just like the bathroom and kitchen area’s? If it’s going to be a Cabin on the mountain I would consider doing tongue and groove everywhere else. Save a lot of time, money and weight. But that’s just me. It would be a lot of wood.
You really enjoy taking pictures of Orion. Nice belt shot and nebula.
You are doing a great job. love watching the kids helping their dad. The deck looks great but I think there is a stain used on boats that would last longer. 👍🙂
Great to see you back on YT and the adventure continues.
My cedar deck is 31 years old. This fall I have to replace some or most of the deck boards. I've installed composite decking for others but I would never have it at my place. Good cedar stain, like TWP, every 3-5 years depending on direct sunlight, and I've gone 7 years once, makes a big difference. I'm not sponsored by anyone
The container is coming along great. ❤
happy I'm found you guys, I'm pivotal towards a container home, learning alot from this layout... Here in South Africa it's just beginning to catch on...
Love the color and trim on your ‘cabin’. Movin right along!
Looking great, kids gotta love them especially when their being mischievous 😂
Hello there, how are you doing?
Love your videos ❤. I am so glad you have so many subscribers. You guys did that by being so awesome.
Princess Beau 👸 always with her adorable dresses 👗 😍
Definitely two coats of a marine clear coat after staining your dec will have it looking amazing for many years.
How cute are your two helpers!
You have the sweetest kids! Love you all.
composite decking has its disadvantages too. Being in Texas and the heat we get makes the composite very hot. The composite will start to sag. They recommend 14" centers for the trusses. With the weather here 12" is better. Plus with the heat of the summer you can't walk on it barefoot because it will burn your feet.
So you are either staining or burning...
I love these guys, been watching them for at least 2 years.... only thing that disappoints me is that I've never once seen them like or reply to a comment in the comment section. It's a shame there is no interaction.
Great that you were able to save some footage. Thanks and take care!
Nice to see progress being made on the cabin.
Bi metal blade on renovater is your best friend for cutting through screws and nails in the way
Your narrating is getting really good. You can tell you have gotten comfortable dreaming on camera.
❤❤❤
I have a very large cedar decking and use a waterproof sealant not a stain and it works great. Also upon researching the composite decking I saw that they retain heat and will warp and since half of my deck will get sun I chose the cedar instead.
On the screw issue, I think I would have cut it off instead. Love you guys, thanks for sharing.
I’m sorry you don't know me i was browsing through the comments section when i came across your eye catching profile and thought of knowing more about you,i hope you are not mad?
