This Log Cabin Project is a dream that we have had for several years that we finally decided to make a reality. We have spent the past 3 years building this cabin from scratch and our goal has been to use only hand tools, no power tools. All of the logs were harvested from our property. This cabin will function fully off-grid and will be only accessible by foot. The cabin is finally in a state that we can live in, so we moved in and live here full time! There is still tons of work to be done on the cabin and on our property, so be sure to subscribe to follow our journey!

I like that there is no cooking sessions through video and no RUclips type attempts at comedy. People want to see what you are doing and how you are doing it. It's not an adventure movie. Keep it up. Well done.

Yeah, she's not scared to get her hands dirty. She's right in there throughout the build. That is truly rare. Even a lot of guys would shy away from doing some of that work or the amount of that much work.

I applaud this couple. Anyone who has ever worked outside in winter knows that it is so much harder to get anything to go right because everything is frozen and takes so much more effort.

I'm sure you have thought about this or will one day....eventually adding on to with a downstairs sleeping area as you one day get old for the stairs but thats many decades from now.
My dad at 82 although active would be sleeping downstairs for sure. He still everyone once in awhile gets on a ladder and I get onto him about it. He lives on a farm and always something to do but keeps him living longer.
Those doors are awesome they look ancient and so smart , wonderful choice.

I SALUTE YOU for your patience and perseverance. Here's a tip when driving screws into wood: Old timers used bar soap,
petroleum jelly, leftover cooking fat, etc. into which one dips the screw(s) to lubricate them, making insertion easier (less friction) and makes removing these screws much easier. Why? Because the resins in the wood are heated and weld themselves to the screws especially with green, not kiln dried wood....spruce, pine, fir, etc.

The nice thing about T & G is that you nail thru the groove that way there are no fasteners showing, I did my cottage with T& G lumber on the diagonal .

Guy, I'm impressed! I haven't seen anyone use a bit and brace in a very long time! You're even using it correctly. Your dad must have had you help on projects. Your cuts look excellent too. Not to be a smart ass but I had the son of a co- worker help me build a garage. I had to explain how to read a tape measure and teach him how to run a hammer!

A veritablly, amazingly skilled couple, Reminds me of La cigalle et la fourmi. The grashopper and the ant. Just look at what hard work ,co-operation annd sher patience and skills can achie ie. using your iniative to build a home that is worthy enough to last for a hundred years. I really like this layout. I especially think this version of the guest bathroom is much nicer. For myself I would make one change/addition. I’m not fond of looking at the side of the fridge from the dining room. I would extend the wall in the living room so it goes past the fridge. Can’t wait for you to start building!
