Another RUclipsr called it a rock n roll magic carpet ride. It really is a journey through the Moroccan desert (according to Robert Plant). He said he was inspired by a long road in the desert of Morocco on his trip, a road they drove down which never seemed to end. The beauty and power of this song give me goosebumps.

I seriously envy the people who were able to experience Led Zeppelin in person. Even more so the ones who saw the original line up of the four gods of rock together! It’s truly amazing to me that each member of the band was considered the greatest of all time at their particular skill. Usually, it’s one (or maybe two) members that people generally consider as the GOAT. But with Led Zeppelin, all four are arguably the GOAT individually. That’s insane! Surely,, it was destiny.

Oh, let the sun beat down upon my face
    And stars fill my dream
I'm a traveler of both time and space
To be where I have been
To sit with elders of the gentle race
    This world has seldom seen
They talk of days for which they sit and wait
    All will be revealed
Talk in song from tongues of lilting grace
    Sounds caress my ear
And not a word I heard could I relate
    The story was quite clear
    Oh, baby, I been blind
Oh, yeah, mama, there ain't no denyin'
Oh, ooh yes, I been blind
Mama, mama, ain't no denyin', no denyin'
All I see turns to brown
As the sun burns the ground
And my eyes fill with sand
As I scan this wasted land
Try to find, try to find the way I feel
Oh, pilot of the storm who leaves no trace
    Like sorts inside a dream
Leave the path that led me to that place
    Yellow desert stream
My shangri la beneath the summer moon
    I will return again
As the dust that floats high in June
    We're moving through Kashmir
Oh, father of the four winds fill my sails
    Cross the sea of years
With no provision but an open face
    Along the straits of fear
Oh, when I want, when I'm on my way, yeah
And my feet wear my fickle way to stay
Ooh, yeah yeah, oh, yeah yeah,
But I'm down oh, yeah yeah, oh, yeah
Yeah, but I'm down, so down
Ooh, my baby, oh, my baby
    Let me take you there
Come on, oh let me take you there
    Let me take you there

Poetry in song. Imagine creating something like this ever in your lifetime, let alone in your early -to-mid twenties. I mean, how do you have that kind of “worldly” vision? When I listen to this song and really listen to the lyrics, this question still baffles me. It’s as if someone late in life who travelled the globe (or at least that part of the world) and studied different cultures their whole life wrote this. Not someone who has only been on this Earth for two decades. This is pure mind-blowing talent. 🤯

I saw Page/Plant in ‘95. Kashmir was epic. The wall of sound behind them consisted (that night) of this Egyptian ensemble, a huge Moroccan ensemble, plus The Seattle Symphony Orchestra and the backing band. It was awesome. The sound was indescribable. “Awesome” falls short. My friend that was with me called it “Godlike”. Anyway; This was the direction that Zeppelin was heading before the end, so it was really cool to see. Thanks.

On my way to Power House Gym NJ last night Oct 25, 2023 the radio played these songs, one had a longer version of the Egyptian music (am I wrong?). I sat in my car listening....Blow Me Away!!!! Danse, danse, danse! So Many years later how did I NOT know this collaboration took place in 1995? Heaven help us, this Musique Gives Me The Chills. I've found my inspiration to teach...God Is Good :) Peace & Love

It makes me realize why this is still my favorite song thanks so much for uploading it.
Not denying the feeling of "wish I was there" but imagination runs wild as they say, no need for a time machine; just put on a good pair of big cups headphones close your eyes and as the song says "Oooooh yeah I can take you there". And with that said you could also become that #TRAVELER of both time and space into the future.....
OH FATHER OF THE FOUR WINDS SPILL MY SAIL ACROSS THE SEA OF YEARS, WITH NO PROVISION BUT AN OPEN FACE ALONG THE STRAIT OF FEAR OOH OOH.
