I would think they'll be in high danger areas only, possible not terribly aggressive? Otherwise, the blog hints that planting peppers will bring them, so they might not be out roaming.

Yeah this right here is big news, it seems like everything that has kinda been all over the place is finally coming together. People were concerned about the story aspect and now were getting answers. Exciting stuff

I think there will be 4 chapters since in each chapter we got 1 totebot and there are 4 totebot heads in the game.
They are even kinda related to the chapter in a way:
Chapter 1: the most basic, vanilla yet most iconic one.
Blip: Not the first that comes to mind, feeling a bit odd, familiar yet weird at the same time.
Chapter 2: explosive, unique, exciting and somewhat risky to take on because it can instantly kill you with one wrong move.
Synth voice: The aggressive one, the one we are used to.
This also allows us to speculate upcoming totebots:
Chapter 3: not as exciting since we are kinda used to, we are looking forward to the next one. But it is still very substantial and you can mess up even worse because of that. (Stealth)
Bass: Most forgettable one, not that exciting, yet no good song project is complete without it.
Chapter 4: a bit weird, yet exciting, we had been waiting for this for a long time and prepared for everything that may come, or at least we think we are. (Dasher)
Percussion: Warning us that SM is no longer what we think it is. Despite the fact this is the chapter where it all ends, probably also the most content-filled update, coming all of a sudden and hitting us hard that, this is still a hostile world and it still has a lot to offer. Meaning you also better have or you don't stand a chance. But if you can, rewarding you with the best ıf rewards.
Wow, just wow.
Alternatively the totebot heads could be related to a form of bot maintenance, since green bots have power cables and red bots have gas tanks, the other two could involve oil, rivets or welding.

I think they are for mining. As in when you get metal and stone, its always on a hill and its impossible rn to keep your vehicles from skating everywhere. There were a lot of complaints about that.

based on the colors and environment, maybe the new boss is related to the sticky wheels
that's what I thought too
Also was thinking the same thing, weird though that you would have to fight one on top of a warehouse to build them to use underground in a whole other area. I would like to see a landfill biome on the new island where we encounter more of these guys perhaps, seems like a better place for them than the warehouse.

My guesses and hopes: So I think killing the trash bot drops the energy source, which you can somehow use to craft the plasma drill. I think the chillis might have something to do with getting a warehouse key, or will be related to getting in the mine. Something I really hope that they are doing is adding a new layer of crops, which comes with a new layer of bots, and a new layer of materials! That will add a entire new level to the game, possibly making warehouses and maybe even the mine more mid game rather than later game, maybe these new materials somehow connect to the getting into the scrapyard? Who knows! (well actually the devs know)

Maybe if you have enough blocks in you inventory to 'make’ or 'print’ the creation
They have talked about trying to make it work in survival before. Obviously it won’t happen in a way that lets you build stuff for free but at the very least we need to be able to save our blueprints for use in creative. That part shouldn’t be difficult.
@@aayushgokhale6680 There could be a "lift chest." Insert all of the needed ingredients and then the blueprint consumes the contents of the chest.

I really want them to use the music scrap man does, it's so much better then ... well I think it was a gentle piano or something like that, doesn't give me any of the feels, Scrap man's music fits much more, I've just gotten use to it whenever I see Scrapmechanic. Keep up the good work Scrap man!
I assume by "more comfortable" they mean it won't deflect when you use it like a regular drill does. With the regular drill it can push you off to the side of the rock you're mining. Maybe this new one will stay static against the rock?
This one shoots out energy beam, I would imagine it won't have collision physics like the regular drill does
Man, that bouncing around was so obnoxious. I know it was itself an engineering problem to solve, but better drills is definitely good.😁
It looks like it projects plasma to melt the rocks, so maybe collision is not necessary when mining
The new "rocks" are probably gonna be in the ceiling of the underground cave so that's why you need the sticky wheels.
Defence for the “red guy” get spud guns and ammo containers make a wall of spud guns with a 3/5 block gap inbetween (or make a Gatling gun like from your earlier episodes to mount to a turret like the spudling gun from the workshop you made!)
But that would cost so many spuds it more worth it if he just focuses on them himself
Or maybe he can somehow launch them into other bots and then kaboom!

I don’t think it will be out in a month. A lot of the ideas didn’t even seem to have really been started in the game.

What I'm seeing for my future in scrap mechanic: dangerdangerdangerdanger. Also, did I mention danger.
With all these threats, Scrap Mechanic seems as if it is going to turn out as the Dark Souls of its kind. We'd better get some reworks to those freaking tapebots.

8:23 these bots were probably used to help with mining, hence the explosuve on their head, like how the trash bot helped pick up trash, the hey bot farmed hey, the farm bot harvested and planted crops with fertaliser, the tape bots taped packages for delivery and the tote bots maby herded cattle (woks) but then all the farmbots turned against the dwarfs by for some curently unknown reason...
scrap mechanics: builds an army of bots to help them and gives weapons for protecting the dwarfs
farmbots: "execute order 66"
While you were pondering over the how twos of killing the new red guy I had a thought...... And I've never played this game so bear with me. Now that you have the Digger will you be able to dig around your base or just on the island? If you can dig around your base very aligned of explosives two or three feet deep. And if I remember your videos correctly I think you can do this in survival hook them up to sensors that only sense the color red and bury those where the all the Bots have to go over the top of them maybe they won't see it and it'll pick up the red color from the other box take out to it once. You know the big red guy in the little red guy. Just a thought probably can't happen
I don’t think the sensors can detect specific colors of different bots, and explosive triggering devices aren’t cheap

I literally just made a warehouse style challange concept that was underground
ScrapMan,you posted the perfect video at the perfect moment. I got really REALLY mad because discord was having a seizure and I was having rotten tomato level luck in Minecraft,and a friend was being quite annoying all at the same time and then,5 mins later when I was the most mad,but alone...you posted a calm, exciting and informative video...thank you SO much.

Awesome. The kamikazi bots mean that they really need to introduce some kind of projected blueprint repair system in the next update as well. We already needed a blueprint system, but explodey guys means we need more just for the QoL aspect.

I have already seen many ppl make videos of this devblog but this is the one i want to watch!
Your my favorite youtuber.
One problem for me when I’m exploring is that haybots often chase me. I recently found a solution to help. It turns out that if you spawn your lift at the right spot under the haybots while they are chasing you, they will be knocked out for a few seconds and fly into the air. I used this little trick quite often and it works really well. I usually just spam left click till it flings them to the air.
maybe the boss drops a key to access the underground? thats why its important to engage with it atleast once before proceding with the story.

Scrap Man if you live at the mining island, you can dig a sort of waterless moat then the red guys jujus fall and blow up, thus killing the other bots
If you are making another suspended base inside the caves, try using that technique you found on the workshop to make sure both sides of the bridge are attached!

It's been 22 days of me asking to do something with bikes in trailmakers
i know what to call the red boss ether chemi-bot or super farm bot because it has a chemical fertilizer for its right arm ,under him is a shovel and his left hand is a sickle, it has more than one thing, so it makes him technically a super farmbot.

My guess for the chillies would be that they are one of two things.
1: you can eat them and gain some sort of effect, like a damage boost, more health or a speed boost.
2: they could be thrown like a grenade and set anything close on fire and do small (smaller than small explosive) explosive damage.
That’s my thought on it!!

I'm actually happy to see the red tote bots. One of my major gripes with the current state of the game is how easy it is to make an absolute base defense, to the point where your current base has 3 different versions and you could easily add another two. Adding bots that require different considerations could help to encourage more interesting base designs (from a mechanical standpoint).
Also, I suspect the plasma drills will be "more comfortable" because you wont have to worry about them bouncing off your target, since they'll just bathe it in plasma.

speculation of a bot in the underground that SM didn't mention:
2:58 has what might seems to be a platform, but something I noticed was it has the face that pops out of the trash-bot is on the platform, there are wires that seem to go out into the ground. it even seems to have what looks like scrapped propellers on the side of the head, scrap bot maybe?
BUT I WOULD NEVER GIVE UP MY ATTEMPTS TO GET A KELP BOT INTO THE GAME
I actually saw the devlog yesterday, but at least you pointed out some details that i dint notice

I have an idea for the defences for the red guys:
build a wall a couple blocks tall out of a cheap material like rust metal block from the
warehouse causing the red guys running into the wall and exploding before it gets to
your base rendering them useless while using cheap blocks means it wont take long
to get those materials back to repair your wall
Imagine if there was a desert biome with pyramids that contain drawings of all types of bots worshipping a big farmbot
Gonna be interesting to see if those plasma drills can break the pieces of rock that get stuck underground when the node is on a hill with their extended reach. That and if "more comfortable' ends up meaning since they're using plasma maybe they wont bounce you around as much when they make contact with the rocks since they're not physically touching the rocks
11:51. I think that suggests the plasma drill will not only be useful for drilling bedrock, but is an upgraded alternative to the regular drill meaning it will be easier to drill normal rocks with. A very welcome change.

@@vibaj16 Exactly my thoughts yeah. Imagine the rocks just popping when the beam gets in contact. Probably much easier to turn those small rocks into iron and stone bars.

MC Creepers: Finally a worthy opponent.
Our battle will be legendary.
My theory: The special rock underground that you use the plasma drill on are crystals or gems or something like that, and you will use it as currency with the new NPCs.
Chapter 1: Farming - Crop crates for currency.
Chapter 2: Spelunking and mining - Gems for currency.
12:20 what's got me really excited is that is already a screenshot. Meaning they've already skinned and coded it potentially. This update may be out sooner than we think
"sooner than we think" how's that holding up for you?
Few things:
1 as if the red tapebots are hard now we have red totebots
2 i can see a future unchallenged raid video featuring the red totebot and the trashbot if the trashbot ever comes to a raid that is
3 the trashbot is going to be something to deal with if it ever comes to a raid again if it is even made to come to a raid
_bosses are not the common in video games, except terraria's bosses where you can spawn them anytime_
Scrap man missed something .... the sticky wheels are the reward of I'm or probably slime... but probably the start of the mineshaft is a drop and you'll need them,and they will surely do something to nerf the seats for drops
looking at this. I say we get the stuff for sticky wheels from the trashbot. And the new plasma drills will take the chilly peppers to make or fuel. this is just my thoughts on it. Also likely the boombot are likely some thing we will run in to on or under the mining island.
Maybe you could try making sort of autoturrets to defend against the new red guys. Put like an ammo container and a spudling turret on a bearing, have a controller turn it all left and right 90°, and by the front of the turret have a sensor set like 15 blocks out. That might be able to keep them at bay.
Multiplayer Monday could be the new world. Get 4 of you together to dominate the next chapter.

I think the drills might give you access to walled off areas of caves, like a caved-in area with high-tier loot, hence the need for stronger drills.
