I was given the implant and told your fertility returned as soon as it was taken out by family planning. Fast forward multiple miscarriages I was told by the early pregnancy unit that they recommend 6 months to 1 year after having it taken out to try to conceive as it can take the minimum of 1 year for your lining to become thicker again. It can take even longer than that too! It's something that isn't talked about enough, and something that my doctor at family planning had no idea about which disgusted me 🙄

exactly, a dermatologist try to put me on the pill and when i asked what were the possible side effects, you know to see if the good surpassed the possible issues, specially because at this point I had a little bit of hormonal acne, but not a lot and just before my period. Her answer was that all the side effects were just myths, which i find scary because as i patient I want to trust my doctors and that didnt help me trust her and second of it all, my acne problems really weren't that big, so i wanted to know what i was signing up for and she really didn;t answer.

Chloé V I’m so sad your doctor told you this... I did my masters in reproductive health and I was always taught that because you’ve had the synthetic progesterone circulating in your bloodstream for so long and it will keep circulating after removal, there is NOT an immediate return to fertility. I can’t believe how negligent some doctors are.

I don’t think big Pharma wants us to know.... for good reason, they put us on it younger and younger and keep us on it for longer - so the pharmaceutical companies are making HUGE bucks off of hormonal birth control.

Thanks so much for taking the time to do this! Very helpful. I’ve been in the battle of infertility for a year and a half. I’m in the 20% of women who aren’t getting pregnant for any reason doctors can determine. I think it’s helpful to hear the different protocols, and I really appreciate the work you put in to looking into studies to determine what actually makes a difference. Thanks a heap!

Abby you are so AMAZING! All of your videos are incredibly thoughtful, but this latest series on your new pregnancy is especially refreshing!!! So much of the dialogue surrounding infertility, pregnancy nutrition, and early motherhood is rooted in fear. So many of the headlines about these topics are just salacious misrepresentation of limited research. It is so refreshing to hear an intellectually honest person talk about these nuanced health topics! THANK YOU ABBY!!!

Hi, I'm a 32 year old mom of 3 in the UK, I have PCOS and we really struggled to conceive first time round, baby nr 2 and 3 just happened without even trying very hard. They are now 9,7 and 5 years old... We have so much love to give and decided to try for a nr 4.
I fell pregnant after 7 months of trying but I sadly miscarried at 6 weeks. I was devestated and very frustrated with the advice I was given (the standard "just lose weight" approach). I tried to do some research myself and that's when I found your channel. You have completely struck a chord with me and I have felt so "heard" for the first time in my life!!! All the information you provide is so helpful and well organised and I am so so grateful for it. I am eating better in terms of nutritional content than ever in my life and I feel sooo good in myself 😁
We will start trying again in September and I feel so ready for my rainbow 🌈
All the very best to you and your family and just know you are amazing ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Infertility is lonely, confusing and (unfortunately) taboo in normal conversation. It’s going to take the influence of those such as yourself to help women and couples open up about their experiences and find comfort in going through this journey with other like-minded people! You are amazing! Thank you 🙏

@@AbbeysKitchen thank you! I am totally aware of how certain supplements can help with fertility to start with, my one pregnancy I brought to term, with my sweet boy, I took Vitex agnus castus berry extract and evening primrose oil capsules along with my prenatal vitamin during the first 21 days of my cycle while we were trying to conceive. Of course, I was also 24 at the time. I'm 37 now, and my cycles have just stopped, even though my blood tests are supposedly normal (aside from a slightly elevated prolactin level) I stopped getting my periods after having 2 rounds of the contraceptive injection. 2! That was all it took for me to stop getting a period for 3 years! Whew, I'm OK, goosfraba. I'll keep you posted k? Thanks again!

Hey cyster! I too have pcos and had a thin lining. It was a very difficult three years of ivf. My thin lining was likely due to scar tissue from a previous csection. After 6 embryo transfers I am 30 weeks. Congratulations! I took pretty much all the supplements you took but the game changer for me was acupuncture and Viagra. No joke, I would not be pregnant right now if it wasn't my my Viagra lol

Definitely interested in hearing about birth control side effects. I was on the pill for 8 years and after stopping 9 months ago my periods are TOTALLY different now than they were pre-pill. I also had awful pain and some wacky symptoms in my first 2 months after stopping the pill which no-one warned me about!! Was not prepared at all, so a video would no doubt help others too! I am so glad you did a video on thin uterine lining. It just helps to hear that this is something other people have too. I have searched the internet and found very little success stories. I was also told by my Fertility specialist that this kind of issue is very rare and so they have offered very little advice or solutions. Leading me to do my own research. I don’t respond well to estrogen in any form so was very interested to hear about the uterine contraction procedure. I really hope that your doctor gets to publish something on this soon.

These are some very sensible, evidence-based recommendations. Thanks, Abby. I don't have PCOS, my issue is endo. I read "It starts with the egg"...(maybe 5 years ago) and went on to try ALL the supplements Ms. Fett recommended. Still failed - round after rounds of IVF. Failure, failure, cancellation and/or loss. My issue/concern with that book and all the 'try these supplements'-recommendations is that they often supply us with a false sense of control; and a lot of the 'data' is still fairly spotty and preliminary (especially the whole DHEA yarn). 18 rounds of IVF/ICSI later, I'm exhausted (trying to give my miracle son a sibling) - so I take the basics, of course, but I cannot stress about all the other stuff. Basically, as awful as it is to admit, my success or failure is outta my hands and cannot be found in any pill I pop. Congratulations on your wonderful good fortune - I wish you a beautiful pregnancy.

Prednisone is the worst. At one point I was on it for almost 6 months and it made me gain almost 70 lbs, it was crazy! Also been trying to get pregnant for 9 months, so this information is helpful and its comforting to know I'm not alone in the struggle. I honestly was hoping it wouldn't take us more than a few months to get pregnant, but obviously hasn't happened. I know people have been trying for years, but even trying for 9 months you start to feel alone in the struggle because no one talks about it. I'm trying to wait until I get to year mark of trying before diving into fertility treatments. Being almost 35, I feel like I don't have years and years of trying to have a baby. I really don't want to be 40 and having my first child. Not that there is anything wrong with that, its just not something I want for myself.

Thanks for being transparent about everything! Although I’m not looking to get pregnant any time soon it helps to know what challenges I may undergo in the future.

Obviously everyone is different but I did want to give you hope, I got pregnant within 6 months of stopping birth control. Like I said everyone's different but I wanted to spread hope because I was very concerned before I got pregnant that I would have issues and praise God I didn't. I was on the pill for at least 5 years.

Hi Abbey! Thanks for sharing your story. Just as a point of feedback, uterine manipulation is actually a part of indigenous Mexican culture for treatment of infertility and is known as Sobada. I get that your infertility doctor was proposing a new methodology of uterine dilation but the practice of readying the uterus with manual manipulation has been practiced for many generations.
Congratulations on your pregnancies and thanks for such great content!

Thank you for your fertility files. I would love more information about PCOS and miscarriage. I have PCOS and just miscarried my first pregnancy. I’m also turning 35 in 2 days, so there are several factors working against me. Now, I did get pregnant after tracking and seriously trying for 5 cycles, so I’m not infertile and I pray this will be my only miscarriage. Thank you for all the information you share. I would love your take on some of the paleo or nourishing traditions/traditional foods diets. Maybe look at Farmhouse on Boone.

I had a pen and paper noting everything down. I know the struggle. I had my first child so easily. I did have a c-section. But now it's been more than 4 years trying to convince. I'm 35 now. We tried 3 rounds of IVF. Each round 2 healthy embryos. So 6 embryos all together and non implanted. I am so devastated. Theres something wrong with my uterus eventhough the doctors did all testing and said everything was normal. My uterine lining was 10 - 13 thick. I do not have PCOS. I am so interested in the balloon massaging thing you were talking about. Please send me any information about this procedure ? what's the medical name for it? so I can bring it up to my doctor. I hope they do it in the states.whats the name of the dr who did this procedure. I will travel if I have .
Thanks again for this informative video.
May you and your family blessed.

I had to take a large dose of steroids for a few months after finding out I had a bowel disease. I was also about to get a shoulder surgery done as well. The good thing was that it helped with my pain after my surgery, but there were so many downsides. I wasn’t hungry and I had to make myself eat, I wasn’t sleeping well, and I was so sick. I was so glad to be done with it. Thank you for sharing your experience!

I found the video very interesting and just shared it on FB with hopes it may help somebody. I have PCOS also and was told I wouldn't be able to get pregnant, but somehow, by the grace of God, I got pregnant without trying (then miscarried), then later tried and got pregnant with no help, then had an oopsie and was blessed with a second son. I wonder if my refusal to take birth control helped. I find that super interesting. I tried several when I was first diagnosed with PCOS back in the 1990s, but I had negative reactions to all of them and so I quit them. Later I took Metformin when the medical community realized insulin resistance was an issue. I wonder if that was what enabled me to get pregnant? Anyways, I am so happy for you that baby 2 is on the way!!!!

I'm currently 24. I'm not ready to have a baby just yet. I do know I want kids though. I have a partner I've been with for 6 years and we definitely want children. However I have PCOS and Type 1 diabetes so the thought of beginning my fertility journey is daunting to me. This video however was very informative (albeit a bit overwhelming) but it has gotten me to put making an appointment with my gynecologist to talk about my options on my to do list for the week. Thank you for speaking so openly about this often taboo topic ❤️ I'm so happy your journey has worked out.

Really interested on a video about thin lining caused by the pill. After taking the pill for around 12 years I decided not to use any hormonal contraception anymore (that was about 8 months ago). Since then, I've been experiencing symptoms of PCOS (not diagnosed yet) and I know for sure that I have excess androgen. I'm not trying to conceive right now but info about the pill having influence on the uterine lining would be very interesting.

I haven’t had any fertility issues but just always been interested in obstetrics and midwifery so this was very interesting! A friend of mine had a lot of trouble getting pregnant and turns out her tubes were blocked. She had done so many successful egg donation cycles that it was super frustrating/disheartening that she wasn’t able to get pregnant. Now she’s almost in her third trimester but still so nervous about everything.
Curious about all the pill talk. I went off and on before having our first (currently only) partially because we kept changing plans and also because I didn’t like how I felt emotionally/mentally on it. The last several months I’ve been using it to skip periods and we just decided to stop BC and take the “see what happens” approach to TTC.
SO happy for you and your new baby to be! 🥰 I personally would be interested to hear about birth plans if you know what you’ll want to do when you make the QA

I also have PCOS and really am not a fan of the medications that most doctors recommend (didn't work me).I have never been able to lose weight due to it and just want to get to a healthier spot. I have been reading alot about dairy and gluten worsening insulin resistance and the symptoms of PCOS. I was wondering if you have any thoughts on this. Agree/disagree? Hello. Thank you SO much for this extremely informative video. I have lean PCOS. I suffered a chemical pregnancy and miscarriage before I became pregnant this time. I’m 10 weeks along and my doctors have told me I need to be gaining more weight. My question for you is how am I supposed to gain weight when I have lean PCOS and am avoiding all carbs and sugars? What foods should I be eating that will help me gain weight but not exacerbate my PCOS? Thank you 🙏🏼

Abbey, you have a heart of gold. This was super enlightening. My best friend went through IVF, and I am just hoping I don't have to go down that road, I can't afford it! I have noticed that by starting prenatal vitamins, I think my ovulation is more normal! I think the stress of moving from New York to New Mexico really put a damper on my mood and my feelings and I must have had way too much cortisol. Back to feeling better though. I'm cutting caffeine which i'm hoping is helping too. Hoping this happens! Do you know anything about inverted uterus's? I was told I have an inverted uterus and that it shouldn't affect fertility, but hmm.. i don't know!

Hi, I've just given the bad news that my uterine lining is too thin for a FET procedure. And the IVF clinic won't take my case. I would be interested to see what supplements you took, specifically the brands. I've tried searching for the ones you had used but not finding the right dosage. E.G. L-Arginine (500mg), would I just take more tablets a day? Is this safe to do so? I am based in UK. Can you help??? I am so desperate.

Can you talk about safe amounts of the calm supplement? I take a TBSP every night for sleep and also I am chronically constipated (it doesn’t help on its own but when I take psyllium husks 3x a day along with calm it’s helped me get almost regular). I’m just wondering if it’s safe to use that amount everyday. Thanks!
