Is the lack of progesterone the reason so many women get autoimmune diseases around the time of perimenopause such as MS, hashimotos, and what I have - autoimmune retinopathy? You mention it is anti inflammatory and is neuroprotective as it helps the myelin sheaths. So important!

@@muse3241 well ..good question...but If one is estrogen dominance than the progesteron is lacking . So there might be to answers to that.
The body do not function If we don't have enough vitamins or minerals . The hormone system goes bazurk. I made a hair analasys and got all the answers needed. So all the immune diseases we girls get are always related to what we have in our system.
Any problem with eyes just rember you have new eye every week and the body needs minerals to do the work. And if you have taken any antibiotics it takes up to 6 months for the body to heal, and the hormonal system and everything else is affected. MS is very much connected to Dvitamin. And we often get inflammation due to what the body does not have in store.
So before taking any special supplement check the blood and do an hair analasys. And you can never check the estrogen with blood test, you need to do a saliva test!
If we were guys we would probably gotten help ages ago!😊

I think it helps the nerves in general. Progesterone is usually the hormone that declines or is erased by toxins in our environment and of course if the woman isn't ovulating properly. It starts to decline after 30 but falls off a cliff around 37/38. That's why some women can't get pregnant. Pro gest one... pregnant hormone one. And it's where the anxiousness starts to arise in the morning.

Seems to me ‘optimal’ prescribing for the female population is very very rare indeed. After I saw the charts of how low all hormones drop to and the impact on our health this is more than essential and the medical profession need to catch up like yesterday. We have one GP that has gone into this as a specialism in Guernsey (UK). Even she does not seem to know about progesterone more than ‘protecting the womb lining’. Shocking.. I’d like to know if it’s pulsed (only taken part of the month) how we don’t look puffy / water retentive as the progesterone really helps to avoid this. Young women don’t seem to get bloated and I noticed estradiol does cause this when unchecked by progesterone..

You're insulin resistant. You must go keto or carnivore. Bloat is the hormonal domino effect that stems from insulin resistance. See Dr. Berg on YT. I use Source Naturals Progesterone and it works very well for me since I'm estrogen dominant which creates IR. I also took Shiitake Mushroom extract and cinnamon. Eat leaner mean and less than 20 grams of carbs. Carbs is what bloat you. Progesterone and low/zero carb will minimize bloat. No need to insert Progesterone vaginally.

Since my science brain loves learning, I have asked my hormone doctor a gazillion questions these past 10 years. This enables me to help other females I meet, to share all sorts of info.
Progesterone was my first part of BHRT which is what my body needed.

So, I can't take the right dosage of oestrogens because if I don't take enough progesterone I have signs of oestrogens dominance and I not feeling well. I currently take 1/3rd of the oestrogens minimum dosage daily and around 5 mg of progesterone every other day or third day.
I feel that this dosage of oestrogens is not enough for me to feeling well (Have a clear mind, energy, sex drive...)

Our grandparents didn’t have HRT and lived long lives. You have to get THROUGH menopause symptoms. They don’t last forever! Yes the transition sucks. Insomnia, hot flashes, weight gain, etc. But there is an end. If you eat clean, avoid sugar, exercise and lift weights, it makes the transition easier. I promise you the treatments for cancer are so much worse than losing your hormones in menopause.
