I have Hashimotos and bought this book 10 years ago and it saved my life. My TPO antibodies were at 1000 back then. TSH was 5 - 10 Now I am on the Paleo diet for almost 2 years and my antibodies are down to 28. TSH 2.5 - 3.0 I dont need thyroid medication anymore. So yes you can heal from this. But you need to stay away from gluten and milk. The half life of an antibody is about 9 months. So if you eat pizza or pasta it is going to screw you for 9 months. Also stay away from the socalled "glutenfree" products in the store. Something is in them. When I ate those glutenfree products my antibodies where stuck around 200. After 5 years I realized that something is wrong with those products and stopped eating them. Since then my antibody values have been falling and falling.
My TPO was up to 2000 at one point (while my other numbers were normal - that's after I took more vitamin D, b12, etc) and took black cumin and my TPO dropped crazy fast. We had tried everything else and it was going up and down, but that seemed to help the most. I just wanted to add that incase anyone else is reading this and has that issue, might be worth a try. ☺
Wow! That is so encouraging! I did paleo 10 years ago for about 6 months and felt great. I regret stopping. My TPO went from 288 in 2019 and now it’s at 734 . I have all the symptoms of hypothyroidism. I thought once TPO levels were there that they couldn’t go down. I’m so encouraged to start strict paleo again. 😊
This is great Dr Axe, and very true! Growing up I always had cold hands and feet and a lot of anxiety I also grew up in a very unstable broken home so I know that affected my diagnoses after having my son thank you Dr Axe may the Lord bless you and continue to give you wisdom to help others 🙏🏼
just got married in october. the past year and a half have been THE most stressful because of not being able to speak up on things. Now suffering with brain fog, fatigue, thyroid issues, deficiencies, migraines, muscle pain, and the list goes on. If you had told me a year ago that chronic stress would have caused all of this, I wouldn't have fully believed it. I recommend eloping (half kidding) but it really is so important to speak your truth and also learn to relax and let go of things. On the road to healing now...wish me luck
THANK YOU! I just got diagnosed with Hashimoto’s and PCOS. I think I’ve had gluten sensitivity my whole life. Also birth control destroyed my hormonal system. Hoping these tips will heal me!!!
I love Dr. Wentz, her books have help me tremendously control my thyroid. I was a little distracted by her blue tongue, I was wondering if that is a different treatment?
I feel elevated and grateful Dr. Josh Axe and Dr. Izabella Wentz Ty Top 1% for SURE! Your so right Josh! I see how too much antibiotics along with binging Carbohydrates has clearly caused "Gut Infection" in my case. Ty for the guidance! Scott from Canada
I followed Dr Brownstein iodine protocol and it didn't work for me at all. I was literally, uncontrollably salivating/drooling from the mass iodine doses.
My doctor just tests for TSH and if it comes back high she suggests levothyroxine. I refused the last few times, because I still felt tired and such while taking it. I am taking the ingredients to help my thyroid(except iron) and since I don't feel tired and I feel like I can do anything and don't feel held back, unless I worked an 8 hour shift and just need to sit down for a bit.😅
Get your PTH and calcium levels tested asap. Calcium above 10 needs to be watched. Mid-10's is almost always hyper parathyroid. One or more adenomas on your parathyroid glands is merrily sucking the calcium out of your bones and releasing it into your blood. My husband had one adenoma found by imaging, but his surgeon waited for his calcium to drop after taking that bad boy out, but it didn't. She looked for another one and found it hiding in back, out of normal detection. Once that was removed, his calcium quickly dropped, but it took some time to resolve the osteoporosis in his forearm and one hip. So don't wait.
Thank you but I asked for parathyroid because I have already been tested and know my calcium levels I'm waiting on endocrinologist to schedule surgery @@LongGrovesAmeliaEarhart
Thank you. Great interview. I have Hashimoto and hypothyroidism. I also have a high ferritin level of 300. I wonder if having a high ferritin level would give the same symptoms as a very low ferritin level?
When you were talking about herbs and supplements, and most references were for women, are these herbs and supplements the same for men? I currently stopped taking Synthroid and want natural remedies. Thanks!
I have always known I have hypothyroidism. But my doctor said my THS is normal so its in my imagination. I have all symptoms and have for about 6 years
Hey Dr. Axe Next Time you do an interview....I feel inspirational, I would delight if you and your guest would finish with a few Dance Moves! I invision you and Izabella doing a few dance moves as you send us off😊, A for real Exclamation Point! Next interview? Please!
Wow. You need to watch more videos on iodine. Get her off gluten and diary. Educate yourself and watch lots of videos. One video I recommend is ‘ten warning signs your thyroid in trouble’ So many people discuss helping this with diet but iodine is a big one to implement. Also as she said magnesium and definitely probiotic and zero sugar and looking at leaky gut. 😊 When she takes iodine she might get and feel like she has a cold. She may feel worse and that is thyroid detoxing. I heard someone on an interview say to take Himalayan salt one teaspoon morning and night to detox for a week and then slowly try iodine. 😊

I think birth control has done a lot of damage to women even though they called it 'safe' for years. 😔
You guys are a real blessing------ Thank you for giving out.
She was wonderful.
This was a great podcast!!

Very Complete all encompassing discussion

I've read her book, it's kind of old book, don't recall when it was published, will see what she says now. Haven't listened yet
What kind of food sensitivity test you recommend?
Just stop eating gluten and you’ll see after a few days with clear mind and more energy
Go on... 😊... I'm on Synthroid.. daily. Religiously. I don't eat for an hour after taking it, and it's been working for decades
