Dude, your awesome. Smart on subject matter(s), great narrative pace, great video illustration, great editing, to the point, and just the right amount human quirkiness.
Patrick - thank you for putting this review together. I just picked up a GO and will definitely look into your setup. The mobility potential here is great.
Back in the good ol days when we could you know meet people in person and have a conversation, I was using a Zoom H6 and I thought that was fairly portable. But this is next level! Great video.
Thanks to this guy and this vid I have a better understanding of how to mic two mics to a phone. Learned enough to even find a small correction. At 1:20, that device is actually The RØDE AI-Micro dongle. When you buy it in the interview kit complete with the 2 lavalier mics it is called The RØDE SC6-L. I got the interface only for 60 bucks since I don’t want corded lav mics at this stage. I will come back to this comment after I complete the set up in this vid
What a boss! When I grow up I want to be like Patrick Tomasso.......Great idea dude and fantastic video. I have been super happy with my wireless go.....so happy that I convince my client to buy one for himself. Good stuff dude.....good stuff. You like a boss with Moment.
That was awesome man, and the interview with Francesa was hilarious! lol... I actually just started a podcast and I'm very excited about it, but I'm recording the podcast using Logic Pro X and then I edit it etc... this I guess is MUCH more simpler and easier!!! Thanks for the tips man! Stay safe you guys and viva friday's pizza!
I didn’t get any lavs with my rode wireless go and I have the go and the go II I love them though and I’m about start my podcast and I have 4 reporter kits so I can go mobile anywhere and they work nice with the rodecaster thank you for this
Nice work on this bro. These things are awesome. I got two with similar setups. I'm thinking of getting the sticks. I think you are right. Gives a nice touch.
Great vid - I literally just ordered the wireless go 2 and these mics to do the same. Excited it will clearly work! Also - Just realise you are who Spenser was talking about in his vids - great to find your channel dude! Greetings from London.
@@impatrickt holy I think I might be the second one. I wanted it for school so I’m just keep one lav mic for now (smartLav+) but so glad I ordered those babies now...
Patrick, this is a damn genius setup! Does the little dongle split the channels? or is it the app specifically? great video and I'm going to be honest, when you switched out your audio from the first test back to your a-cam shots I think I preferred the sound of the Rode wireless Go's!
Man each video of yours is better than the last. I have the Saramonic Blink 500 I will have to employ some of your tips to see if I can get a similar setup going. Not sure Saramonic has the same accessories as Rode though. Thanks for the amazing video.
Massive help!! Thank you!!! I am planning to get this setup with the Rode Wireless Go II. Would you also be able to charge while doing this with any extra iPhone adaptor without adding audio interferences? Would you recommend any IOS app in order to record Video Podcast and still be getting dual channels?
Really really good video! One question though, when recording the audio, how do you match the audio coming out from the iPhone with the camera footage? How do you link the dslr video footage with the audio? I would be extremely grateful if you could answer 😊
Excellent video! Exactly what I was looking for... almost! How do you film video if you have to go through the Rode Reporter App for the SC6-L to have dual, separate channels that I can split from each other in Premiere afterwards? Can I turn the Rode Reporter App on and then switch to the native camera and film video there? I have the new iPhone 12 Pro Max. A quick response would be appreciated as I would have to go buy it in a couple hours for filming tomorrow. Thanks! (Further note: right now I have everything you have, except for the SDC6-L -- I bought their new Y-splitter which is still going to just one channel when I film in the iPhone's native camera app. I need to be able to separate in post.).
thanks so much for the video.. i have a question and would appreciate your answer. i just bought the rode sc6-L (i will be using the lavalier mics it comes with the kit) and i will record a podcast for 2 people. now my question is about the angle for the footage. i have three iphones and i want to have three different angles(on the first - me - and also of the both of us together) how can i do this? would really appreciate your help. thank you.
You just cleared up a lot of doubts I had! This is awesome!! So I can plug any TRRS mic into my smartphone that it would work? I have two XLR to TRS mics and was wondering how to make it work with my phone..
Hi Patrick! I just picked myself up a rode wireless mic go II. The sound quality it produced in your video was really crispy. What settings did you have them on?
@patrick great video! Changed my life for my podcast! I have a question. Do I need a second Go II transmitter? Couldn’t I just use a splitter to use one and connect two TRRS cables into the AI-micro Audio interface? Or are you using a second one Go II to get stereo?
Thank you! I watched a video a while back about how to get stereo. Can I do that with this setup? I think the moral of the story here is the sound quality is so much better using an SC7 vs. lightning to USBC cable, right? @@impatrickt
This looks like the perfect solution and I’m wondering if I can you this on an iPad Pro but with a USB -C connector instead of the lightning. Is there such a connector or could I simply use a Lighting to USB -C converter without any loss of quality. It’s easier to shoot film with the phone. Thanks in advance for any replies
Great video! I'm buying a lot of this gear my next podcast sesh. I have a question about monitoring audion with this setup? That headphone splitter you mention. What is each person hearing in their headphone? I know a lot of the time for podcasts, one ear should be your voice and another ear is the other person. In this case is the audio mixed for both ears in the headphones for both people? Hope this makes sense.
Hello and thanks for this great vido, it really open a new world for my. If I wold like to also film the podcast at the same time what would be the best setup with that. Best regards and thanks, Hermann from Iceland.
This is incredibly creative I record my podcast with an s10 adapter and blue yeti and while i love that I recently got a laptop and I don't know if I should go with an audio interface with a USB C, a cheaper audio interface with a USB b to usb c audio adapter, or the rode nt mini I really don't know what to do
Thank you for sharing this idea. Is there any delay when you are hearing the sound in headphones. Just want to understand how far professionally I can go with such set? Thank you!
I am looking to buy two Rode Wireless GO II Microphones with only one receiver. Should it work with only one receiver? Will there be two channels for example a left channel for one microphone and a right channel for the other microphone with this kit, or am I going to run into some problems? I love the idea that you can do this with a smartphone and would like to keep it like that, but I'm worried that the channels are going to be mixed.
Quick question Patrick, hopefully I’m not to late and you can answer it. So both of the rode handle are there only for show or you have to buy another of the wireless ? Thanks
Hey buddy love the wireless setup and building it too! I got the neweer 2 mic stand which is great but did you change the mic clip? Since you're clips in but mine doesn't and don't see a link for the mic clip adaptor. Disappointed i couldn't use it when it arrives but hope to find the mic clips that this will work for. 🙏

Wow Rode wireless go internal mic sounds really good here! usually what I'm hearing from other videos was not so great, sounds muffled like a phone. Did they somehow made it better?
