    For my LG phones, i always used an app called HI Q Voice recorder which let you record even WAV files and you can set the input to ''Unprocessed'' which will disable that destructive noise reduction

    • @SomeGadgetGuy
      @SomeGadgetGuy  Год назад +1

      Oh nice! I gotta try that. Drove me nuts on the V60 that I had these GREAT audio tools built into their apps, but then I couldn't disable the processing.

    Per your recommendation in the SGG Discord, I picked up the Rode WG2 to use with my LG V60. Using a capable USB-C cable (I purchased Rode's short one) it bypasses all of the issues you may run into with the overly aggressive 3.5mm jack.
    I've recorded video podcast on my LG V60, edited in Powerdirector (Android) and uploaded all from my phone with the help of a Nexdock. It has been amazing having everything that I need without the requirement of a full Windows laptop.
    Lastly I'll add, if you're going to be doing a lot of interview style podcasts with the WG2, it's really worth it to pick up a set of Rode Interview Go adapters. They do an outstanding job of removing plosives into the mics.
    Happy Podcasting!

    I chose to fix my Pixel 4a5Gs broken screen rather than replacing it with the Pixel 7 precisely because of the headphone/mic jack. Can anybody point me to a simple y-cable splitter that will let me use my Deity D3 Pro shotgun and simultaneously monitor with headphones?

    There's something so cool about whipping out a phone a mic and a little square to do the same thing as somebody using a $30,000 camera and a truckload of equipment, the future is small😁!

  • @heroicvision
    @heroicvision Год назад +1

    Absolutely right bro about the audio compression through the headphone jack of the LGV60. The only way I could bypass that problem when recording audio with an external microphone was using a USBC to 3.5mm dongle.

    • @SomeGadgetGuy

      So frustrating. I desperately hoped we would get a toggle to disable it in the pro mode. I was annoying ANY LG rep or engineer I could speak to LOL.

      Ugh. I believe it. I tried TWO vlogs with the V60 and pretty much noped out after that. It sucked because the camera and optics were legit better, but I had to use other solutions for audio.

    Aw man, I can't wait for the world to embrace general computing on a phone, our handsets are so good why do you even need a PC?

    • @SomeGadgetGuy
      @SomeGadgetGuy  Год назад

      Just need more developer interest in some of these outlier uses. It's already pretty good now, but we could certainly use more support and choices.

      Because enabling wired video output on a smartphone will disrupt their Android tablet and Chromebook laptop sales, simple as that.

    I still don't believe that Android can fully replace Windows for daily productivity work, but smartphone SoCs are so powerful nowadays that I always wonder why people would buy a Chromebook laptop. Of course some might say because of desktop GNU Linux support, but you can have desktop GNU Linux on an Android smartphone with Termux-X11 commands or using Andronix.

    • @championxxlNL

      Agree, I would advise getting an external monitor with keyboard and mouse if you need a laptop like experience. But you'll get much more bang for your buck and it can do the same as a chromebook

    • @SomeGadgetGuy
      @SomeGadgetGuy  Год назад

      And we'd just want to ask, are the majority of Windows users really USING Windows to a degree where they could not replace Windows with a good Android desktop mode? Given the sales popularity of low cost Chromebooks, I would surmise that many folks are NOT using Windows to that level.

    What is a "middleman" tool that will allow me to intercept both microphone and speaker sources using USB-C or a 4Pole Headphones Jack?
    Android disables audio recording while using any App with a Phone feature. Which includes everything from Video Calls to Twitter Spaces.

    • @SomeGadgetGuy
      @SomeGadgetGuy  Год назад

      A couple work arounds, but it can get frustrating trying to make those work. It REALLY depends on the context and what you're trying to record. You could pull the output from something like a Bluetooth DAC. Or if you have decent data, you might just want to use a web service.

      I hope it remains functional. So far Android 13 has broken all the "stock" video out modes. Dex, Moto ReadyFor, LG Screen+, and Honor desktop all work great, but the android dev option desktop mode is junk now in A13.
