I miss these days. Well... maybe a couple years later. I was born in 82, into a die hard Ford family. Awesome Bill was my papa's favorite driver, so he was naturally mine too. That Melling team, with the red Coors livery, was a beast back then. Davey Allison was my 2nd favorite, but then when i grew up, i turned into a Chevy guy when i started working on them. Earnhardt cheers started coming out, and dad hated that. Him and my papa used to call him "ironhead". Then when i got a job as an auto tech at a GM dealer, dad really let me have it😂.
So glad you shared this and these old races. Reminds me of my childhood. I was born in 86' in Alabama. My grandad who recently passed was one of the best short track racers back in th 70s. He was good buddies with Bobby Allison. He is in the Alabama Motorsports Hall of Fame. Harry Deaton, some of you old school guys may know his name. To say I grew up an Alabama Gang fan is an understatement. When Davey came along he was my hero. I grew up watching these reruns though. To see these real men man handling these big cars is so awesome! I eventually became an Die Hard Earnhardt fan when we lost Davey and since him and Neil were such buddies. Love the Channel when I'm feeling nostalgic. Thanks
miss these days, notice these guys race as hard as possible, but don't wreck into each other, that's called professional driving, not like the clowns today who wreck every lap at the end
It's the same in F1 too. Drivers seem to have lost respect for each other. Constantly seeing guys in F1 just run the other guy straight off the track at the exit of a corner if they happen to be on the inside at the apex. I HATE it.
As a boy I watched nascar twice a year if I was lucky . Even then I noticed these professionals were respectful & aware that everybody had a family to go home to. The 1964 racing season was on everybody's mind still. Men out earning a living. A different world then.
Yup, Dale laid back, to get a run. He'd been feeling out the timing of the draft the whole race. Amazing how quick Dale learned to master drafting techniques.
God Bless Ken Squire. Will be missed.
Smiff working hard as usual.
Thanks very much as per.....🤘🏼
back when nascar was the real deal
You ain’t kiddin!

Thanks! I appreciate you loading this race and all the others to your channel.
Daytona is where the Clash should be.

Back in the good Ole days
..Life was so good. ...!!
Earnhardt’s second season
The Greatest Of All Time!
9:46 that was Earnhardt setting up DW for the pass. Ken got that call wrong, but still made it sound exciting.

This is the racing I wish we could get at Daytona nowadays.
best NASCAR era ever. loved these cars.
Dale Sr’s 1980 car looks different than his 1979 car. Did Osturland change manufacturers between 79 and 80?
This race used too be relevant 😮
Bonnet,Allison, yarbrough, earnhardt, baker.
I used to count down the days leading up to daytona week.
Used to.
Today the last 10 laps are almost always a bunch of stupid wrecks. Things were a bit different in the old days.
