The 3 probably most influential bands to modern metal are Sabbath, Priest and Maiden. The reason you hear the roots of modern bands is that they pretty much were influenced by these bands. Maiden is universally loved by every genre of metal and also popular with punk fans.

scorpions were around years before Maiden. Maiden was my first concert and I love them, but let's be real. Michael Schenker was a big influence on Maiden, etc. Maiden becoming fairly big in the early 80s helped other bands get more notoriety, but I just have to disagree about the Scorpions. Now Metallica and all those thrash bands, sure, they took what Maiden did and added/altered it, but in some ways they were more influenced by Motorhead, they all sort of thought Maiden was soft. They laud Maiden now, but I was a teen at that time and when you read what they said in magazines and such, they crapped on Maiden. All the big 4 thrash bands are pretty much douches.

Up the very beautiful, sentimental and emotional, melodic, powerful, dynamic, vigorous, dramatic, heavy, unique, epic, theatrical and well-balanced Irons, at the same time, and that’s very rare unique, and special, at least mostly!!
Man, don’t compare to any bands 80’s or not! They are just different with all i’ve said above!! Most bands either too heavy or too soft, but they have it all most of the time!! Enjoy the music without much comparing, you will be tired lol! For me they stand out way way high!! And I don’t live under a rock, i listen to many things from different genres and cultures, they are one of the best, they stand out! In the end, it’s my mostly subjective view, whatever!!!
Btw., you keep saying screaming or whatever, man metal isn’t just some extreme subgenres lol!!!! More accurate in the big picture with their catalog, in terms of vocals, it’s distorted and raspy vocals with loudness and TONS OF GREAT MELODIES, it’s very instrumental-driven music in a well-balanced way!! It’s not just like every day band lol!!!
    Up the Irons!

I don't watch a ton of reaction videos, but this was one of the more thoughtful ones I've seen. Appreciate it. You're very unlikely to be let down if you choose to drop down the Maiden rabbit hole. Certainly one of the more influential bands of all time, I still don't know why they're lazily lumped into the metal category with Metallica, Slayer, Megadeath, etc. They're much more progressive hard rock. Their influences are almost entirely 60s and 70s rock, particularly prog rock like early Genesis, Jethro Tull, Yes and others.

Great reaction and thanks for sharing. That show was a few days before the album that song was on debuted. Also Bruce the singer was a new singer. So the crowd did not know the singer or the song. Iron Maiden is one of those old school bands that played their songs from beginning to end in the studio just as if they were live for recording the album. Which means live they are amazing. Listen to any of their Abby Road studio songs from their albums in the early 2000's . Heck just a few years ago they released 'The Writing on the Wall' an amazing song and video. I have seen them live in the 80's, 90's, 2000's, 10's and 20's. They do not disappoint. The list and rabbit hole is deep for this band. If you want suggestions just ask. Some of their best songs were never singles. Heck corporate radio hated them since they were self produced and managed. Songs like this over 6 minutes made radio and record companies go insane. Yet still the best Metal band ever. Played in front of more people in more places than most. They have fanatical fans in countries that don't even speak English. Check out Rock in Rio 'Fear of the Dark' just a small intimate crowd of Portuguese only a quarter of a million strong singing along. Have fun. Look forward to more Iron Maiden reactions. They did have a different lead singer in the late 70's with a more punk sounding vocal. But their music and guitar work was still a precursor of what you just saw. Other songs from this album that are notable. 'Run to the Hills' 'The Prisoner' 'Children of the Damned' '22 Acacia Avenue' 'Invaders' and 'Number of the Beast' there videos were very eclectic when released and almost always contained old movie footage since their songs usually were about history, books, old movies, or personal events; not your usual rock drivel.

A band to check out who were a big influence on Iron Maiden and bands like Rush and Dio and even Richie Blackmoor from Deep Purple and Rainbow ... is Jethro Tull. Now, they get as lot of shit for having beat Metallica for the first 'Hard Rock/Heavy Metal' Grammy, but if people don't know about Jethro Tull and don't understand how heavy and almost creepy sounding some of their music was, they don't know what they are talking about. Tony Iommi spent a few months in Tull in the late 60s. And while he felt it wasn't for him and he went back and re-formed Black Sabbath, it gave him some perspective on how you need to operate as a band if you want to become successful. So he did. And on the other side of it, his playing style left a mark on Jethro Tull and they definitely incorporated doomy, odd moods and challenging sounds to their already unconventional, aggressive music. So yeah, check out some Jethro Tull, you'll be glad you did.
