      "Seventh Son" had some common threads, and some connected songs, but it didn't develop into a full-blown concept album. They started down that path, but didn't carry it through to the full extent.

      @BAMozzy69 3 года назад +6

      @@Bad_Wolf_Media It is a Concept album inspired by the novel 'Seventh Son' by Orson Card.
      The idea to base the album around the folklore concept of the seventh son of a seventh son came to bassist Steve Harris after he read Orson Scott Card's Seventh Son.[3] Harris stated, "It was our seventh studio album and I didn't have a title for it or any ideas at all. Then I read the story of the seventh son, this mystical figure that was supposed to have all these paranormal gifts, like second sight and what have you, and it was more, at first, that it was just a good title for the seventh album, you know? But then I rang Bruce and started talking about it and the idea just grew.
      I know Dickinson himself said later that its more of a 'half Concept Album.
      According to Harris, the band "spent more time checking up on each other to see what everybody else was up to, just to make sure the story fitted properly and went somewhere". To make sure each song fit with the record's concept, the band drew up a basic outline for the story, which Harris states "didn't make the actual writing any easier ... I probably took longer over the writing I've done on this album than any I've done before. But the stuff we all started coming up with, once we'd agreed that we were definitely going for a fully fledged 'concept' album, really startled me. It was so much better than anything we'd done in ages".
      So Harris himself considers it a concept album and each song does 'follow' on - even if its not a 'concept' album like Operation: Mindcrime for example.

    Contrary to the majority of folks here, I would like to propose a song with as many unusual (for Maiden) scales as it gets - El Dorado.
    Guitarwise, If I am correct:
    1. the verse is in E Dorian,
    2. the bridge is in C# Lydian Diminished,
    3. the Chorus in G Minor,
    4. the instrumental/solo interlude is in:
    4.1. A Phrygian (the solo thrown over it is in D Harmonic Minor),
    4.2. E Minor (solo + backing guitars)
    4.3. B Phrygian (the solo thrown over it is a typical Jannick Gers' mess, with some B Pentatonic Blues inclusions)
    E Minor (almost) nowhere to be found! :)

      I played in an Iron Maiden tribute band that learned about 50 of their songs. We had a 3-guitar lineup so we could recreate the newer material faithfully, but even with the extra guitarist and having a singer that could play keyboards we struggled with this song because of all the moving parts involved, so I definitely get why Maiden never played it live. Though I’d definitely argue that Alexander The Great was the most difficult song they ever created.
