In the song, "How Deep Is Your Love", from 1977, you can hear more of Barry's regular voice. But if you really want to hear Barry roar, listen to/watch him LIVE on the Midnight Special from 1975 when they sing "Nights On Broadway." He really uses his chest voice there, and Robin has a small but great solo part which showcases his vibrato, and Maurice sings falsetto towards the end (Barry did the falsetto in the studio version, but Maurice does it in the live performance so that Barry can continue in his regular voice). That clip is available on RUclips. But be sure to also check out their very last song & video from 2001 called "This Is Where I Came In". It is quite different from anything else they ever did and would have been right at home on a progressive rock station from that time. Maurice died shortly thereafter, so the Bee Gees came to an end, and then Robin died a few years later, leaving Barry, who was the older of all three, the only remaining Bee Gee.
I'm Aussie from Queensland. Brisbane. Redcliffe was where the 3 boy's the Gibb family grew up. They had already released the Spirits Having Flown LP with this song on it before they decided to donate the proceeds of the song to UNICEF. The song was written by all 3 brothers.
Sadly the performance and music isn't the same as our days of music. The music today is auto tune and alot of cussing, rude, death. The music being made can't compare. Songs written have meaning, a story, uplifting, aspiration, happy, fun. None of that in music today. America pie, Time in a bottle. To Much Heaven. Any of the new music close?
My granddaughter asks me to make playlists for her. Then she tells me which ones she liked best. She asks me about the bands, loves when I tell her about concerts I went to and she has her friends listening to her grandparent's music at just 12 years old. She hates modern music.

Barry is the oldest and the lead singer. Robin and Maurice were fraternal twins. When the twins were 5 years old, their mother thought the boys were listening to the radio. She opened their bedroom door to find her sons singing in perfect harmony. You should watch the documentary on the Bee Gees. Very interesting and fascinating!
Barry Manilow has had 28 top 10 hits on the Adult Contemporary Chart. His other chart achievements include: 13 number one hits, 51 Top 40 singles, and 36 top 20 hits. I thought it would have been more.
As artists, in the USA the Bee Gees have had twenty-nine Top 40 hits, fifteen Top 10's and nine number ones. No gaurantee these numbers are accurate just quick searches. Fun
A 4 th brother , Andy , had his own successful solo career . A reaction to Robin singing his solo , I Started a Joke ......is well worth the time .....has been much reacted to online .
And there was briefly another member. At one point they had a disagreement and one of the twins left the group. While he was gone he was replaced by their older sister.

@@nancyanne1402 Absolutely and all these jealous people on here that hate him know it, too. They try to make him out to be some kind of monster to Robin and to a lesser extent Mo. Sometimes it’s all because of what your parents and older siblings, and your friends listened to. I have 2 older siblings with very different tastes in music, plus parents who loved country and rock (Elvis kind of rock). I have very eclectic tastes in music. Be it Bach or Willie and the boys, if the music is good, I like it. So Rock on, Seb, you are doing the world a great service.
Their pre disco music is amazing! I grew up with The Bee Gees and their little brother Andy Gibb! Such amazing music and artists! I am loving that you are loving it! I am 61 and this is my musical heaven!
Lots of us older people are commenting. These brothers were child stars on Australian television when I was a little girl. Maurice was the most beautiful boy I had ever seen. RIP twins.
I loved the Bee Gees in general. However, it made me sad that after the 60s Barry took the lead away from Robin. Robin's voice just had more emotion to it. I would cry (in a good way) when I listened to Robin sing. Of all their hits, my favorites were when you could clearly hear Robin's voice.
@@Shasha-yg1mmIn the 60s, Robin wasn't the lead singer, just sang more leads. And Barry didn't take anything away from anyone, especially when they started to write just for Barry's new falsetto, because they were topping the charts & making big bucks!!
@@kthor I was a kid in the 60s. I watched the Bee Gees on dance shows. I would watch Robin sing the lead on those songs. Then later Barry took over singing the lead. If they wrote songs for his falsetto then, hello, they wrote them intending for Barry to sing lead. Robin didn't sing falsetto and Maurice always sang backup. I also read an article about how there was tension between the brothers and the article indicated that a big part of the tension between them was because Robin wanted to sing lead on some of the songs, but big brother Barry insisted on taking the lead. They were all good singers, I just liked Robin's voice and vibrato more. So I wish Robin had been given more opportunities to sing lead. RIP Robin and Maurice❣️💖
@@Shasha-yg1mm I'm quite familiar with their 60s music, which most of it was shared lead between Barry & Robin. I believe Robin sang lead on 12 songs, which isn't most of the 60s. Also remember, Robin wanted to continue writing songs for the falsetto more than Barry or Mo, so what's that tell ya? So no, Barry didn't "insist on taking the lead", when Robin wanted him to, literally more than anyone. Also Barry's voice was much more versatile than Robin's vibrato, which didn't work on many songs. He had way too much warble going on to be commercially successful.😵💫😵💫😵💫
Every boy band from now until the end of time should strive to emulate The Bee Gees -- writing songs like it's the most important thing in the world -- super-tight harmonies
Perfection. Music died with the end of the 20th Century as far as I’m concerned. Nothing produced today will ever touch the wealth of talent we enjoyed over decades.

Hello, "Staying Alive" is a very life-saving song--LITERALLY. I live in Seattle, Washington state. Our medic One, fire department, and Red Cross promote citizen CPR. They found that when students practice chest compressions to the BeeGees "Staying Alive", it is the right rhythm for the heart to resuscitate a person having a heart attack. Seattle is the best place to have a heart attack, since so many plain citizens have learned CPR.
They wrote over 1,000 songs, the dad asked how, Barry said they only ever put emotions to music. Try Jive Talking. When they recorded Nights on Broadway is when they discovered Falsetto. Being brothers they competed on that. Barry could continue doing his for longer, and had the unusual talent of adding vibrato to it. From then he became the main frontman. Each brother took turns at lead singing. Robin in I started a Joke and Massachussets. Can't remember Mo's leads just now. He did the first of May with his ex, Lulu, deep voice. Look for words. Barry wrote the Grease theme song. They started in the 60's.
Mo - Closer than close, Hold her in your hand, Omega man, Above and beyond, Man in the middle just to name a few. Robin - Heart like mine, Ellan Vannin, Holiday, When he's gone, And the sun will shine, I can't see nobody, Fallen angel, She keeps on coming, Bodyguard, Black Diamond, Don't fall in love with me, Tokyo Nights, Lamplight, dozens of leads plus solo songs.
Barry - Words, To Love Somebody, In the Morning, First of May, Don't Forget to Remember, Israel, Alive, Dogs, I Can't Let You Go, Songbird, Subway, Nothing Could be Good, Be Who You Are, Someone Belonging to Someone, Live or Die, The Only Love, Happy Ever After, I Could Not Love You More....plus a couple hundred more.♥️

I'm a genX, born in 1967 and grew up with most of this music that you're listening to. The 70s were an awesome and also a horrible time to grow up, but musically it was THE BEST!! I was the youngest and was exposed to all my older sibling's music. I am super eclectic, music-wise, and love everything from 60's British Invasion to Moody Blues to Elton to Depeche Mode and just about everything in-between, including the hard stuff. In the 80s, when I was in high school, we had all that great "new wave" music that I still adore. So glad you don't fake hearing things for the first time. Love your channel!
Before the disco Bee Gees, they had a string of beautiful love songs in the 1960s and 1970s. Everyone thinks The Bee Gees came to fame during the disco era, not true. They had hit songs such as Lonely Days, Lonely Nights, How Can You Mend a Broken Heart, Massachusetts, Words, Jive Talkin’, To Love Somebody, Nights on Broadway, I’ve Gotta Get a Message to You, I Started a Joke, and New York Mining Disaster 1941. All memorable songs with that great Bee Gees harmony. Robin, with the longer hair, usually sang the tenor part, Maurice the lowest part, and Barry usually the main melody line, although Robin did some solo numbers. They were popular BEFORE disco…and that’s a fact.
Hi there ! I listened to The Bee Gees as a kid and later as a teen. I just inherently know most of the songs just because they were played so much back in those days for me. Only recently in the last 5-7 years have I gained a HUGE appreciation for The Bee Gees. If you also realize they are not digitally remastered on most of their performances you can find on you tube.
There is something special about siblings who sing together. Because they have similar speech patterns their voices and harmonies blend in ways that don’t happen in regular singing groups. It’s magical.
I'm a boomer and I loved their music. The Bee Gees were actually 4 singing brothers. Andy, the youngest, sang separately from the other 3 and he died early but he had a couple of hits. The twins, who provided harmony, died a few years apart but Barry (the one in the middle with the high voice) is still alive. They have so many hits you should check out their song lists. From Saturday Night Fever alone you got a ton of hits.

I was born in 1961 and these guys were one of my favorite bands ever. It makes me so happy to see someone of your generation who appreciates their amazing talent. Saturday Night Fever was our anthem, man. Coupled with amazing R&B music was the absolute best!
The Bee Gees started in 1958. Barry, the brother in the middle, is the last Bee Gee. Maurice, the brother with the beard, died in 2003. After that the Bee Gees as a group stopped recording and touring because without Maurice they didn't want to go on. At that time the only people to sell more albums than the Bee Gees were Paul McCartney and Elvis. Barry produced and wrote hits for other artists. Robin, the brother on Barry's right, died in 2012. I hope you will dive into the rabbit whole with these guys. They were so much more than disco and falsetto!
Please do not forget the youngest Brother Gibb, Andy. We lost him around 1989 (?). He was a real sweetheart. He sang some with his brothers, but also had a solo career. Shadow Dancing? Remember? Blessings to the Gibb family. 🙏🙏
They all three have massive vocal range. Watch Nights on Broadway 1975 Midnight special and Wind of Change (1979) and Fanny be tender with my love. All three romantics. Yes more Bee Gees, you will never regret going down that large rabbit hole. ❤
Hi Sebs, thank you for sharing such beautiful BeeGees song with us. I'm one of your older listeners. (Am 71). One of songs that they happened to have done was a song written and done by Carol King. The name of the song was "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow". They literally took this dear lady's song and made it their own. Hope that you have a chance to give it a listen. ♥♥♥
When you watch Queen Live Aid the person stage left handling microphones also demonstrate not only did we wear them way too tight, we cut them off way too short.
They were huge, huge, huge back in the day. And not only did they write and sing hit songs for themselves, but they also did so for other artists, like Barbra Streisand, Olivia Newton-John, Diana Ross, Dionne Warwick, Kenny Rogers & Dolly Parton, and more.
Three brothers gathered around one microphone, recored live with an orchestra. no pitch correction, no autotune just years and years of perfecting the family harmony. ( they've been singing together since kids) The blend and timing from all of them as incredible...not to be heard since. Also, they dedicated the profits, it was the band's contribution to the "Music for UNICEF" fund. They performed it at the Music for UNICEF Concert on 9 January 1979.

The Bee Gees were prolific song writers & wrote many hits for other artists as well as for themselves. They had a younger brother who had a career of his own, but he died quite young as he got into drugs. The 3 brothers began singing together as children & appeared on TV shows. The only brother still alive is Barry, the one in the middle on this one. Thanks so much 😊🙏💞

This song has probably melted more girls' hearts than any other in recorded history. The Bee Gees' mastery of falsetto, harmony, and vibrato is unparalleled, matchless and timeless. @@sue9197 Because she only joined them once or twice when Robin had left the group.
And he was the oldest😢
Make sure you are watching Midnight Special stuff, they showcased big names on the tv show.
And of course Andy, the youngest, died first.
Can’t forget Andy their youngest brother.
Maurice (pronounced Morris) and Robin are twins.
Fraternal.
I’m a 76 year old British woman, this brought tears to my eyes, both because of the wonderful unique Bee Gees, and your reaction. Made my day.
75 here, me too, Barry was so hot...thanks for the memories....!
Exactly.
I'm Aussie from Queensland. Brisbane. Redcliffe was where the 3 boy's the Gibb family grew up. We go to Redcliffe all the time and go threw their famous memorial on the bee gees and their whole history all the time in Redcliffe. My oldest Sister went to their Redcliffe School and My Sister was Barry's GIRLFRIEND and Then the boy's went to America. How's that. Love Always.🎼💖🎼
This was a charity single that Barry wrote. They received no royalties from this song. It all went to the charity.
Yep! And there was no auto tune back then. Just three guys, one vocal mike, full orchestra and pure talent!
They had already released the Spirits Having Flown LP with this song on it before they decided to donate the proceeds of the song to UNICEF.
The song was written by all 3 brothers.
All proceeds went to Uninicef
The song was written by Barry, Robin and Maurice Gibb....ALL THREE brothers wrote this song as a team as they did many of their songs..
@@objectiveobserver4278clearly at times there are four voices heard. 3 part harmony with Barry riffing on top.
I'm blown away by how many younger people are tuning into the music of my youth. My teenage daughter is a huge fan of Queen, Bowie, Pink Floyd, ABBA,
Sadly the performance and music isn't the same as our days of music.
@@guichogf5636You are so lucky that she's interested in "our" music. I'm a boomer and trying my best to expose my grandkids to songs I think they'd like. It's become my mission, lol
My granddaughter likes queen
Same. My daughter has all of those on her playlist, as well as some classic country
There is still Andy Gibbs
Did you all know they wrote 100 top ten hits for themselves and others!!!! NOBODY else did that.
I think Barry Manilow may have done the same. Maybe Michael Jackson too. But I love the Bee Gees.
Barry Manilow has had 28 top 10 hits on the Adult Contemporary Chart. His other chart achievements include: 13 number one hits, 51 Top 40 singles, and 36 top 20 hits. I thought it would have been more.
Michael Jackson had 30 top ten singles on the Billboard Hot 100. Again surprised this few.
As artists, in the USA the Bee Gees have had twenty-nine Top 40 hits, fifteen Top 10's and nine number ones. No gaurantee these numbers are accurate just quick searches. Fun
Nobody can sing falsetto like Barry Gibbs
A 4 th brother , Andy , had his own successful solo career . A reaction to Robin singing his solo , I Started a Joke ......is well worth the time .....has been much reacted to online .
And there was briefly another member. At one point they had a disagreement and one of the twins left the group. While he was gone he was replaced by their older sister.
Awwww I had the biggest crush on Andy💜✌🏻😎

"How Do You Mend a Broken Heart" is another of my favorites. I still have several of their 12" vinyl albums...with no way to play them. 😦
I grew up dancing to the Bee Gees, they are my favorite all time group. Yes please play more of the Bee Gees, I'm a baby boomer. it's Bee Gees forever.
Barry is the tallest and the oldest and he’s the only one still alive. He’s incredible!!
didn't he just make an album with a mixture of people singing their songs? I think Dolly sang one song on it with him.
@@ridingtheroad185yes. He did their bit songs with a lot of famous people.
I find it so sad that Barry outlived all of his younger brothers 😥
And gorgeous! Don’t forget (even tho Andy looked a lot like him), he was so freaking gorgeous!
@@nancyanne1402 Absolutely and all these jealous people on here that hate him know it, too. They try to make him out to be some kind of monster to Robin and to a lesser extent Mo. They want to change history and rewrite it to where Robin was the most popular and sexy and gorgeous. I'm sorry but he just wasn't.. Of course he had a lot of fans and so did Mo. Everyone loved them all but Barry was the main attraction. I watched it in real time. I bought all those Tiger Beat magazines and watched them on television and talked to all my girl friends about them and it was always all about Barry.
Remember something, that was back in 1979. Real voices, no auto tune.
I am extremely surprised you haven't heard of The Bee Gees songs. I am a few years older than you but I grew up listening to The Bee Gees and to lovely Andy. They were the gods in the music industry for decades. Bigger than any group! No one, I mean no one can harmonize like the brothers Gibb. They made the world a happy place with their songs. Love them forever! ❤❤❤❤
Even their vibrato is in synch. That's the level of talent these guys gave.
Their pre disco music is amazing! I grew up with The Bee Gees and their little brother Andy Gibb! Such amazing music and artists! I am loving that you are loving it! I am 61 and this is my musical heaven!
Nobody can touch the BeeGees. I always loved them!❤❤❤
Lots of us older people are commenting. These brothers were child stars on Australian television when I was a little girl. Maurice was the most beautiful boy I had ever seen. RIP twins.
❤
There are those who love the BeeGess and those who lie.
...and if by chance you don't love the BeeGee's, then you are definitely listening to the wrong era, since they reinvented themselves frequently.
The Bee Gees have always been a one of a kind group. One of the best in the world.
No autotune, real singing… it’s why people my age say there will never be music like the 60-70-80’s plus… 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻
No autotune, but 27 layers of vocals, with most of it just Barry!♥️
Every boy band from now until the end of time should strive to emulate The Bee Gees -- writing songs like it's the most important thing in the world -- super-tight harmonies
The BeeGees are LEGEND. They also wrote major hits for other artists over the years.
GOAT.
RIP Maurice & Robin (& little brother Andy).
I'm a metal head to the core! I'm also Gen X and the Bee Gees are ingrained into my soul. Most amazing voices ever I swear!!!

Perfection. Music died with the end of the 20th Century as far as I’m concerned. Nothing produced today will ever touch the wealth of talent we enjoyed over decades.
Music can't die if we keep sharing it. It's one of our jobs as people. We have to pass along the magic, when ever we can.
@@barbarahearron4150I know what you mean, but that's not what the op was meaning. New music in the mainstream has completely lost the plot post 2000. It's mostly trash. Younger folk are dis overing the music from the 70s and 80s, and many are loving. My son, age 20, says the older music is popular with his friends and in clubs... e.g. ABBA
Anthony and the Barry Gilbert is the best looking out of all the three of the brothers

Could not agree more with you on his. I'm gen X, 1971. ” Music” now, is not music. We bought records and tickets, because of the music and singers. Now it's lip sinc, half naked, drugs, hate, faul language, looks and no quality at all oh and auto tune. Glad to see 90's generation are listening to this amazing group from the 70's. I love them. ❤
These are fraternal harmonies. Art that can never be recreated.
No auto tune, no over production. Just talent.😁
Yes, it was real 6:32. He was known for it. He was naturally packing them tight jeans back in the day. Look for other Bee Gee videos. BTW, that was the style back then
Hell yes! More Bee Gees please! How Deep is your Love, More than a Woman, Jive Talking, Love You inside and out, Love so Right, Fanny be tender with my love...that's just a few from the 70s. They had hits in the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and 00s. Until Maurice sadly died unexpectedly in 2003. They wrote not only all their own songs but huge hits for others as well. Top reaction. Lovely to see the young embrace real heart in music.
Jive Talking is one of my favorite songs!
I cannot tell you how much pleasure I get from seeing the younger generation in awe of the talent of the bee gees, I grew up listening to this magnificent group. There is no group with the same calibre RIP Maurice and Robin I miss you so 🌹🙏
My favorite Bee Gees song is How Deep Is Your Love. However: all their music is simply spellbinding

Nights on Broadway, Love You Inside Out, Tragedy, Alone just to name a few......
3 guys and one mic, in a Live Performance, and No Auto Tune!! all 3 have wonderful voices, each in their own right, and their harmonies were brilliant and totally in-sync and pitch perfect. Even without the falsetto, Barry has a beautiful voice.
Barry Gibb is the man with a thousand voices. He has an incredible vocal range and he can change his voice to fit the song. His voice has a lot of versatility in it. He can sing with anyone and sound good.😊😊😊
The Bee Gees have one of the greatest song writer’s catalogs of all time.
The BG's were perhaps the Best vocal group in history
The Bee Gees are one of the greatest songwriting teams, they wrote for everybody and also one of the greatest groups ever.
So true. There accomplishments are even greater when I discovered that they could not read or write musical notes. Absolutely amazing! I still listen to them every day. Makes me smile.

How To Mend A Broken Heart is my favorite Bee Gees song. It’s their first hit in America.
"I Started a Joke" and "Words" are two of my favorite early BGees songs.
@@susieq9801 thank-you.

Three voices singing as one. That was the magic of the Bee Gees. Perfection is rare and a wonder to behold.
Their voices are a musical instrument!
Barry was the lead singer, they also had another brother that had a solo career his name was Andy Gibb. You should watch him too. You should try this song: REFLECTIONS OF MY LIFE By: The Marmalade I think you would like that one too. By the way, this is my first time watching you, I enjoyed it! Keep listening to our music (I am a Baby Boomer)! We really did have the best music.
I had nothing BUT OUT STANDING TIMES THREW OUT ALL OF THE 70s Period
OMG. I LOVE Lonely Days, Lonely Nights. Such a masterpiece from 1970.
That's a great list! Loved all their music!
I love the 60s Bee Gees the best.

Robin got the rhythm for Jive Talking when they were going over a train bridge
So many only know the Bee Gees from Stayin' Alive but as a child of the 60s/70s THIS is how I know the Bee Gees. So much good music over their career!

I’m so lucky to be around from the sixties all the music all these years, couldn’t live without it .Staying Alive 😍Still dancing 😊
There is something special about siblings who sing together. Because they have similar speech patterns their voices and harmonies blend in ways that don’t happen in regular singing groups. It’s magical.
The Bee Gees sing in so many different genres as well. They have a massive catalog that you need to experience
So blessed to have grown up when music was so damn good. We play all the greats in our cars and all of our kids love the music and sing along.
How about the early stuff? I love "gotta get a message to you" ! Great stuff!!😅

Robin and Maurice were twins ❤😢
Their disco was the best. Sebs did say his favorite thing was falsetto.
You should check out Massachusetts. They did not always sing in the falsetto, though it certainly became their signature sound.

Yes -proud to be a boomer. Bee Gees are the bomb. I am so proud to know every word of every one of their songs. 💕
Me too, my daughter, who is 22, claimed she was glad she could pick her own music in her car. Guess who stole my BeeGee's cd!
Tight pants were a trend of the 1970s. We used to say you could see everything but the colour.😊
When you watch Queen Live Aid the person stage left handling microphones also demonstrate not only did we wear them way too tight, we cut them off way too short.
Love that 🤣😂
They were huge, huge, huge back in the day. And not only did they write and sing hit songs for themselves, but they also did so for other artists, like Barbra Streisand, Olivia Newton-John, Diana Ross, Dionne Warwick, Kenny Rogers & Dolly Parton, and more.
Beautiful, romantic, gorgeous harmonies. One of a kind.
They donated all proceeds from this song to UNICEF. You won't find any bad songs from the Bee Gees. My all-time favorite! Check out Fannie Be Tender.
Fannie be tender is one of my favorites. It's a studio magic masterpiece. Also love Alone and For Whom the Bell Tolls.

You have to do "To Love Somebody." It's my favorite Bee Gees song and they wrote it for Otis Redding but Otis was killed before he could record it.
La grabaron en abril de 1967 y Otis fallecio en un accidente en diciembre del mismo año!
When Barry talks he has a deep voice. I know he is older than me and I am in my 70s. I saw him on TV recently and he can still do the falsetto voice.
This brings tears to my eyes, oh the MEMORIES! THE REACTION ON YOUR FACE SAYS EVERYTHING! WELCOME TO THE 70'S.

BeeGees are my favorite group! Love their early music the best. Have had a crush on Barry since the early 70's . Lol
He's been married over 50 years to his wife Linda.
Born in 51', discovered great music by 64', dancing to the BeeGees at SF clubs in the early 70's , the absolute best time in good music, that, and through punk ,hard rock, acid rock etc. when music died sometime in the 90's.
Sebs, I don't know if it has been suggested, but Joe Cocker with Mad Dogs and Englishmen singing 'Cry Me A River' is a good candidate for your reaction. First time watcher, liked your show.
Note: They were LIVE in front of an orchestra. No auto-tune. Perfection in vocals. Their talent was off the charts. Look up the number of songs they wrote. Incredible.
No. This is the studio LP version played over the top of whatever was going on in that video.
Note: this is incorrect. this was not a live recording. a quick google search will tell you that the recording of this song was pretty complex.
This song has probably melted more girls' hearts than any other in recorded history. The Bee Gees' mastery of falsetto, harmony, and vibrato is unparalleled, matchless and timeless. Hardly anyone ever gives them recognition for their writing and musicianship. Too bad
because they did everything very well.
Man In The Middle with Maurice on lead vocals is my favorite.
