    One of the most talented, creative, intelligent bands of our time and I'm SO glad to have been a fan since about 1983.

    Bruce Dickinson. A renaissance man. He also pilots the band’s jumbo jet and is skilled at the sport of fencing. And still sounds great 40 years later.

      Agreed. I saw them September '22. It was the 40th Anniversary of seeing them the 1st time, and they were still so on point.

      He doesn't pilot anymore because of age limits, but yeah. Ex pilot, master fencer, professor of history, also had a throat cancer and defeated it. He's the man.

    I've never been a fan of "Heavy Metal". Soul & Motown was/is my kinda music. But after subscribing to a couple of reaction channels (yourself included), I am really really enjoying listening to heavy metal bands. This right here is just fabulous. Everyone on that stage is so talented, it sounds amazing. I mean, can you imagine what being there would have felt like? I don't think you'd ever forget that. ❤🎼🎶🎙️

    This is the band that opened the door to heavy metal for me. They’ve been my favourite band since I discovered them in 1983, and introduced me to a whole new world of music. They were also a factor in my meeting both my ex-husband and my husband.

    You can pick just about any song from Maiden, sit back and prepare to be amazed. Best live band I've ever seen. Only saw them once for the PowerSlave Tour. Still my favorite show of all time.

    Most impressive thing is this was recorded right about the same time NOTB was released. Bruce had been in the band less than a year at this time. Most of those fans, this was their first time hearing Bruce and this song.

    I saw Iron Maiden live in in about 1986 for their Power Slave tour . While the opening band was playing ( Accept ) Bruce Dickenson from Iron Maiden came out on the side of the stage and was watching them while leaning over an equipment box and NO one noticed him there ! So as he panned across the crowd and just as he got eye to eye with me I wave to him and he waved back . I felt like one of those girls going crazy for The Beatles back in the 60's ! lol Great memory though .

    Growing up in an era when vinyl records were sold in brick & mortar stores, Iron Maiden made the most of their cover art. Lyrically, Iron Maiden is one of the most "classically literary" of the genre. Check out The Flight of Icarus and Rime of the Ancient Mariner as a few examples based upon classic literature. Then check out Run to the Hills for a history lesson from "opposing perspectives".

  • @MalamuteX

    Iron f'n Maiden. I bought this album when it came out. It was huge for what was considered underground music at that time. We used to classify this as early speed metal, heavy metal, Hard Rock. But ya add in Dickinsons vocals with the ultra talent of the band, its just magic. Seen em live MANY times. Just awesome. I seen em live for the first time in 1984, ad the last time i seen them was 2019. So yea... enjoy this Journey. They are just awesome. So tough to recommend a next song, there are so many... But i would say go with "The Trooper" or "Die with your boots on" off of the next album "Piece of mind". I can list 20 other songs easily, but those are ultra classic f'n rockers.

    Welcome to the Iron Maiden family. They are quite simply metal royalty. They were one of the pioneers of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, along with Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Motörhead and Saxon. Maiden hail from the east end of London. I've been a Maiden fan since I first heard their debut album on cassette the day it was released in 1980, when I was 10 years old. I've seen them every time they've played in London and they never disappoint. Many Maiden songs tell accurate accounts of historical events such as Run to the Hills, Alexander the Great, Empire of the Clouds, The Trooper and others. Some of their songs were inspired by classical literature or mythology, such as Flight of Icarus, To Tame a Land, The Rime of the Ancient Mariner and others. Live or studio, it doesn't matter, you can't miss with Iron Maiden. They have an extensive back catalogue and it's all killer, no filler. Enjoy the ride and..... Up the Irons!!!

    Check out the rest of their album art, it's amazing! I've seen them a few times over the years, incredible bunch of musicians. Can I suggest The Trooper live by Iron Maiden? It's absolutely phenomenal! I'm so jealous of you hearing this stuff for the first time. Take care bud!

    Their early stuff with Paul Dianno was good but Bruce put them into the stratosphere when he took over lead vocals.

    • @pskarnaq73
      @pskarnaq73 9 месяцев назад +1

      Paul was also amazing! His personal demons ended his Maiden run, but those 1st 2 albums with him still stand up. Also gotta say, he did the songs on those albums better than Bruce when Bruce tries to sing them.

    • @troywilkinson160
      @troywilkinson160 9 месяцев назад

      Paul was never amazing. His voice was good. He quickly ruined good and now is only horrible.
      Bruce never could sing those songs - I agree.

    • @pskarnaq73
      @pskarnaq73 9 месяцев назад

      @@troywilkinson160 if not for Paul, Maiden wouldn't be a thing.... it was his deep, passionate vocals that launched them to stardom. Without that, Bruce never would have joined. Some of Maiden's best are still the early ones with Paul.

    Old guy in his 50s here, Iron Maiden still rock out with the same intensity to this day, most members are in their mid to late 60s and the drummer is 71, still putting younger bands to shame. Catch them before they hang up their instruments.

    Welcome to the world of Iron Maiden! I was lucky enough to discover them as a teenager in the late 80's. Check out the live performances of Rime of the Ancient Mariner (flight 666 version), Clansman (Rock in Rio), Phantom of the Opera at Donnington and Fear of the Dark in Dortmund. All epic performances and they are so good live it really is their forte: dualing guitar riffs, sequential solos, driving bass and licks, fills and kick drumming to die for. A recent release (on their 17th album) with an awesome animated video is the Writing on the Wall

    Great reaction and thanks for sharing. Iron Maiden influenced the creation of many genres of Heavy Metal, Power Metal, Symphonic Metal, Speed Metal and what you just described thrash metal, etc. What you just watched was a concert that was given a few days before the album shipped so almost everyone had not heard Bruce sing and had not heard this song. In every Iron Maiden concert the crowd usually sings along but not on this one, because they didn't know it and didn't know what to expect. Chris

    Thank you very much for calling out the difference between Iron Maiden and more traditional heavy metal. Other songs you'd probably enjoy from them if you liked this one: Phantom of the Opera (1980), To Tame A Land (1983), Aces High, Powerslave, Rime of the Ancient Mariner (all 1984), Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner and Alexander the Great (1986), Moonchild and Seventh Son of a Seventh Son (1988), The Thin Line Between Love and Hate (2000), Paschendale (2003), Brighter Than a Thousand Suns, Longest Day, Lord of Light, and The Legacy (2006), The Talisman and When the Wild Wind Blows (2010), If Eternity Should Fail, Book of Souls, and Empire of the Clouds (2015), Senjutsu and Hell on Earth (2021). Their catalog of solid work is pretty extensive.

    I remember being 14 years old, living in Seoul, South Korea (my dad was in the US Army) and buying my first two heavy metal albums: Diary of a Madman by Ozzy Osbourne and The Number of the Beast by Iron Maiden. This was in 1982 & I had heard of Ozzy before, but never bought any his music prior to that time. I had no clue at that point who or what Iron Maiden was. But the album cover instantly caught my eye & I just had buy it, my decision based on the artwork alone - LOL. Needless to say, it quickly became one of my favorite metal albums. Hallowed be thy name is probably one of my top favorite songs by Iron Maiden. Bruce Dickinson's voice is legendary.

    Much of their subject matter covers historical references - much like the band Sabaton does now. Bruce has always been at the top in terms of metal vocalists.. same with guys like Rob Halford from Judas Priest. That early 80s metal scene was a gateway into the genre for a lot of us Gen Xers... specifically Maiden. They're truly one of the greatest experiences to ever hit the stage.

    It's awesome that Maiden is getting their do via the reaction Channel phenomenon. Let's face it what is good is good and it can be timeless. Maiden were the influence that stepped up from the prior hard rock or metal in the form of Sabbath and deep purple Etc and they modernize for their time the delivery and then from this era you have Metallica Anthrax Slayer Etc who took from this generation and made it heavier Etc and then that influenced bands like Slipknot and Korn etcetera who have taken it to a different place but this right here is what I would call Classic era metal and it has a ton to offer my friend. Enjoy

    Lol. You really stepped in it now! Maiden is a DEEP DEEP rabbit hole! I unlocked it when I was 21 in 1982. Never looked back! Iron Maiden is a gold-standard band - like Rush, Zeppelin, and not too many others!!!
