Hey Josh I just wanna thank you for your video. My mom's place in Delaware caught fire and I came to repair it from Colorado. I'm a bartender and have pretty much no carpentry skills. Your videos have really helped me get this done. Honestly without your help I would have had to ductape something. I'm doing this alone so your videos are perfect for me. Thanks a lot brother.
Sorry to hear about your mom‘s place. I’m glad you were able to get everything fixed! I know it’s a lot when it comes to learning a new skill but now you will know for the next time. Thanks for watching!
Thank you Josh for showing us all how to do this!
So helpful thank you for putting out this content. I’m a carpenter and just started doing siding about a month ago, and this video helped me to show some tips and tricks that I will now use almost daily!
These videos have been Super helpful!!! Really thorough and completely understandable. Step by step. I'm still working on my 10 x 20 workshop and have never used vinyl or aluminum fascia but with these videos it is really coming out nice!
Thank you very much. I know everyone appreciates these as mush as me.
So useful! Just in 10 minutes all my remaining questions were answered! Thank you!!!
I’m glad I can help. You are welcome!
Thank you so much for the knowledge. Of your trade. I have done lot of wood siding.
Now in my 45 years of the building trade. I'm teaching my self how to do vinyl siding.
Your presentation was excellent. I will go back your site for more vinyl siding tips.
He is excellent in explaining each step for a beginner. Thanks for your help..

I appreciate both of these videos. I[m a warehouse worker for this type of material. Its good to see how its actually installed.
FINALLY! THANK YOU!! I have been searching high and low about finishing the top row of siding under a soffit with a bird box. I originally installed my F channel the wrong way and had a difficult time finding the correct way / trim.
Hey I enjoyed this video...I LOVE how y bring items into the camera so we can see clearly what you're doing. I appreciate this so much. Very informative and great for everyone all skill levels.
Thank you Josh I really appreciate
You are an excellent instructor, thank you.
Hey brother, I can't thank you enough for this information. Although i sure wish i found your channel before asking some 'handy' friends for help...lol. We're first time DIYers on an old poorly built - and by old poorly built i mean damn near collapsed - house in eastern Canada. Thanks to the knowledge you've shared, my fiance and I will be finishing the rest of the siding, fascia and soffit on our own.
Cheers from Newfoundland
Thank you for the awesome tutorials. You have been an great teacher. Much appreciated
Thank you it's been a few years since I've done viynal siding these were great refresher videos 🍻

Excellent video and answered the questions I was needing to finish my siding. Thanks
Great Job man! You're definitely a great teacher. I was able to knock out my dormer in no time after watching this!! Thanks bro!
These are outstanding videos! Thank you for taking the time to share your expertise and knowledge. I’ve been doing woodworking for many years (mostly home projects from my garage shop) and was always interested in learning about vinyl siding. My house could use a renovation to this end and after watching, it seems like a project I could handle. May sound crazy but what seems to be the biggest challenge is contending with scaffolding and that whole element. Wondering what it would cost to rent and how long it would take one person to do a two story house. Probably a job that’s a bit too much for me.
I liked how he showed to mark the angle to cut on the piece using a framing or speed square. I am a beginner. Nice video!
I gear a lot of my content toward beginners. I'm glad I could help!
Thanks for the easy to follow installation guide. It’s very helpful.
Awesome video, you saved me a ton grief. The top row of vinyl siding on house has been falling out , all over the house. Now I know why and how to fix it.. They never used the indersill strips to secure the ripped edges!! I'll fix that, and sleep well in the next wi d storm! Thank you, great instruction and presentation.
Great job explaining professional work
Thank you for helping us weekend guys
That is what I’m here for. To help the community. Good luck with your project!

Thank you for the video. I doing a small redo project. This was perfect for me.
Probably the best video I've come across for siding installation instruction. Thank you! Do you have any instruction on installing vinyl siding over clapboard? From what I understand I can keep my clapboard, which is in good shape, and put a layer of foam insulation over it before going through the normal process of installing the vinyl siding.
Great video. I learn a lot.
Thanks for the video and explained everything
Great video man, very helpful.
Thanks a lot! Good luck on your project.
Excellent instruction 👍
Thank you!

Great video but you were making me nervous on that scaffold. This is the best video yet. Thanks.
Thanks George! I don’t like heights very much either but had to be the job done.
@@TheExcellentLaborer I did carpentry work for years and never got used to working on the edge of the roof.
awesome channel, really needed this video!
I appreciate that. I’m glad I can help you, Jose!
the best thank you 👍
Thanks I appreciate that!
Thank you very much for the video and God bless you!
Thank you!
Awesome video. Never done siding before and this video series gave me the confidence to dive right in. Question is,......Is there a simple way to determine roof pitch on an existing structure? I'm going to be siding a detached garage that is in serious need of TLC
Great job. Looks nice. Well done on the video. The SNL smile at the end of each segment was a nice touch. ha
Thanks
Good job josh .. Thanks for the video.
I appreciate that!
Thanks for posting all of your videos, they have been very helpful!! I'm building a garage and I'm just about to install the vinyl siding. I was wondering if you could possibly make a short video on how you install the blocks for my exterior lights before I put the siding on. Thanks again for all your help!!
Hey Steve! I’m glad find my videos helpful! All you have to do is use a small level and get it level and plumb and nail each nail hole on nailing flange. Hope that helps!
Thanks!
Man thank u for this videos are the best
You’re welcome. I hope it helps!

How did you find the 7 12 measurement
Thank you!
You are welcome!
Good job!
Thank you Richard!
gracias gracias, estoy aprendiendo a trabajar y aprender inglés
Thanks for the info on all your videos dude.
Would love to have you explain the difference/ when to use J or F channel. 🍻👊🏻
I appreciate that support. A lot of people get the channel confused. I knew it would help somebody else. Thanks for watching!
Awesome 👍🖐
Muy bien explicado, aunque mi ingles no es muy bueno se entiende perfecto.construí un segundo nivel en mi casa y solo me falta la instalación del siding ahora con tus videos se me hará mas facíl, eso espero.
please a video how to make the boxes or dovecotes, greetings and blessings
Thanks for all the tips and tricks. My only suggestion would have been nice to see what you install and how to cut it around windows and doors. I know some people will use J-Channel and cut the corners in a way that it folds around the corners as one piece which creates a perfect corner just never had someone explain it and show it to me
Thank you ur so good
Thank you!
Josh great videos! Really helping a guy out to fix a siding problem. My question is what do you use on the bottom of the siding for the corners so no wasps or other flying friends invade? Not sure if i missed that in the video.
great video, thanks. how would you finish the top of a window.
Wow this was good
Thank you!
Very nice
Thank you!

Very informative I like your siding videos but I got a question on tying off it appears your not doing so in this video
The videos were informative and helpful. Do you use chalk lines as you’re working the siding up the wall so that you don’t start to cause a drop or rise? Also would be nice to show how you cut the siding going over the top window channel.
Thanks for making these videos, They have taught me a lot. Your a great instructor!
You are welcome! I’m glad you could learn a thing or two. 💪🏻👊
Great tutorial! Thanks. Would be posible to know if there is any pattern when cutting and installing siding along the wall? If so, could you please let me know what would be the pattern?
Thanks again
Great info video bro. Hey listen are you around the Carolinas? Thanks
Getting the angles for the pinch of the roof/gable, could you use a siding t-bevel? Great videos!
Josh ! great videos, learned how to use a speed square for more than just 90 degree cuts ! Curious to know what the 7-12 means is that 7 inch rise over 12 inch run ? What other common roof pitches are there ? Thank you again for these great videos, it is always great to see people who have pride in their work and enjoy teaching ! If your ever in Baltimore drop into tinybrickoven for a free slice of pizza !
Very useful, thanks. I have a question, please. In the front of my house, I have a porch with 4 inch cement slab on top. How will I start the siding on top of the cent porch to keep the same line for all the front of the house ? Thanks.
How did you do over the top of the window, is there a special channel that goes over the top of the window or just the butal tape covers the Tyvek and on top of the window frame?
Just curious, I know if I'm wondering so are a few others....So I'll ask .
Good Day! Is there anything special that needs to be done for siding on the sides of a window and above a window? I'd also like advice for siding around a door and above a door as well. Thank you so much!
Easiest way to find your angle is to measure your siding size and use a square to make a mark at that size on the panel below then measure over to the Jay from mark . You should always know your siding size anyway for an up and over or any other situation where you might have to measure to make your siding match up
Muy bien
Hanging siding alone can be tuff. I do it but only when I can't find a helper.
Yes it can be tough alone. Hard to find help sometimes. Thanks for watching!
I have learned so much from watching your videos. I have a question I can not seem to find a straight answer for. We are going to vinyl side our house. Under the old aluminum siding is wood siding with furring strips. When installing the new siding on top of the wood siding do we have to use both the furring strips and foam board to create the flat surface for the new siding? Or can we use just one, the strips or the foam boards? And which one would be better to use? Thank you
SEAN WILLIAMS SCOTT ON VINYL SIDING BOII
Stifler!
Great video! Thanks. Q: It appears that the vertical joint where outside corner meets the bird box, there is no J, just an unsealed joint. Am I missing something? Should it be caulked?
Beautiful Video, I would like to know where can I order the vinyl siding from
You're using board and batten as lap siding? Pretty cool
Awesome tutorials! I am building a 16 x 20 foot shed, and am at the point of starting the soffets and siding. My question is in regard to doors and windows. I got the part where you used undersill trim beneath the window, but what about the sides and top of the window; does the siding just butt against it? What about around the door; do I use J channel? Thank you!
You do not put anything at the sides in the tops of the window other than J channel if it is not a new constructed window. But new construction windows have the J channel built around them already. The door is just J channel yes. You are welcome!. Good luck on your project.
@@TheExcellentLaborer thank you! Loved your videos!
Thanks for the video. Could you tell me the brand name of the siding that you're using? I like the look of wider siding. Also, I purchased a fixer upper that has wood siding. Would it be best to remove wood siding?
