Why I Bought The M4 iPad Pro...

- The M4 iPad Pro might be one of the most impressive pieces of hardware that I have ever seen that finally beats the modern apple silicon MacBook in total hardware specs, but it may not be my ideal device to use... so why did I buy one, and why am I hopeful that this may be the time the iPad finally wins me over.

I actually like that it's thinner... 🫢
bro will it bend cause im a student and im scared it might bend with usage

@@AmolPoladiWhy does you being a student make it more likely to bend? Treat it with care and it will be fine. The previous iPad Pro’s apparently bend easily but I’ve never bent mine.
me too. i love when products seem like they just can’t be physically possible!
@@AmolPoladi if you get the aluminium keyboard, it’s stored in a much thicker frame, so could be more resistant to bending. if you take good care of it i doubt it will be a problem!

😂😂
Thats true...
fr lol I know it's nice that the iPad is thinner but let's be honest. We all wanted better battery AND software!!!!
Lol 😂 truth be told
And to compensate the dull sense of humour
I hated the weight on my 12.9" M1 iPad Pro and am really happy that both, the new 13" Pro as well as the new keyboard are lighter!
Same! Really excited to handle it
@@GregsGadgets I am also considering an update from my 12.9 brick to the thinner, lighter iPad. Those that are confused by it, probably never use it in the hand as a tablet.

I thought getting married was expensive, but falling in DEEP love with Apple is even more expensive.....but then again, a guy gotta pay up for what he loves 😉❤
I've already had enough of this shit when I bought an iPad 4, which periodically lost its mobile network.
I bought myself a Moog Grandmother and a Korg Pa 1000, and a couple of lego techs and a mindstorm, these are much cooler brain development toys than another useless female gasket!
>professing deep love for Brand because Brand

I think it's cool that they made it thinner and lighter but still fitted some cooling under the chassis. I think this is the first tablet they've made with an official cooling system, regardless of how minimal it is. Looking forward to the actual performance of the device!!
You can never be too rich or too thin
😂😂
LOL
this is a timeless truth
I'm also buying it because it's thinner and lighter, and I might even mount it in my car so I can do some work when I'm out in the field. I also think that the maps on the IPad will definitely be much more useful than the apple carplay. For me it'll be a much better portable workhorse than my old MacBook since it'll be much easier to travel with plus i'll be getting the cellular version to quickly turn in updates and reports.
I’ve tried using Apple Maps on my iPad mini and maps does not work on iPadOS as it does on iPhone/carplay. Unless I’m doing something wrong🧐
@@GhostedstudiosTV as far as I know the Ipad mini doesn't have LTE which is why the maps aren't accurate.
Bring back the iPhone mini (because yeah, thinner and lighter is awesome.)
Yup! iPhone Mini was such a good device from Apple that they needed to continue with it!
I had the 13 mini, loved it ...but loving the 15 now as it's easier to text and read stuff and the cam is amazing
This!
Honestly one of the BEST phones they’ve made over the years and compared to galaxy 🔥🔥
Would ABSOLUTELY buy an updated mini
@@Dan393945 I plan to keep my 13 mini until the end of time OR until another mini comes out... whichever comes first.
4:38 I’m into hardware too. But, personally, until I have a need or a use-case for using the advancement to my or other’s benefit, I’m super happy to watch everyone else use it.
I hold the thing hours a day. Lighter is good.
Paper-Like Screen Protector for your iPad will change the feel of writing with your Apple Pencil on the iPad screen! No glossy feel. Other brands exist as well.
My first up spec (other than the larger screen) was cellular. If this ever does become a workable laptop replacement, it will be nice to be able to work it for hours without draining my phone battery anywhere I need to hotspot.
Thanks for your reviews buddy.
Ipad 13 inch pro needs to be as thick as the m1 or m2 version for durability purposes. They just need to fill it in with a bigger battery so it would last longer in a day. If heating is an issue, they may just put in a small fan like what the gaming phones did.
I have been waiting for YEARS for this type and breath of an Apple iPad Pro. It will be retiring one of the first gen iPad Pro in use today. Bought the same config Greg did a couple of days ago and glad I did as the < 1 Tera memory option gives you more RAM. Pricing was a bit steep BUT one of the credit cards gave us a 15% discount on electronics purchases 👍🏼…Pick it up mid next week.
I think he got sucked into the Apple trap. Bigger screen, okay, I'm spending £1500, might as well get more memory, okay, while I'm here, let's add the 2TB. Oh yeah, and the pencil and keyboard. £3500...
Right! 😮🫢😬
he got the 1 TB. So more sensible!
@@gosman949No! For a pad that's crossing well into laptop territory & not being able to do 50% of the job, isn't the definition of being sensible! It's plain blind fanboyism!
@@BlackHawkTejas then it's not for u

I agree with you bought the same exact config. I have a M1 air base configuration and I’m banking this will out perform and I’m also banking because it is costing! That iPad OS will prevail with some announcements incoming!
I’m thinking about getting one too. Looking at the 13” black with 1tb. Have to see them side by side to see if the nano glass is worth it. Going to be using it for just some gaming and RUclips. Plus maybe some coding with swift playgrounds.
Coming from a 12.9” M1 iPad Pro. Got to see if the upgrade will be worth the money. If not, than I’m keeping my M1.
There is a downside to the nano-texture glass, which is that it make visuals a bit less sharp, and blacks won't be pure black when viewing, which defeats the point of OLED. It's similar to the debate in the PC world where we have glossy vs matte finish for the OLED displays.
Cause of this risky decision, I suggest seeing the nano-texture displays in-person and see if it's right for you. Some would appreciate the texture, while I would argue a lot of us may not need it, and just want to enjoy the pure OLED experience.
See for yourself! I plan to upgrade from my 2018 12.9" iPad Pro! :)
@@jasmeetbrar8609 Thanks. That’s what I plan on doing. Then I’ll see if it’s worth even the upgrade from M1 to 4.
@@abdurrahmankhan129 Sounds good man! M1 is already fast, but I wouldn't blame you if you want the sweet sweet OLED experience! It's about time that the iPad Pro finally got it! :D
@@jasmeetbrar8609 I’ll be disappointed if some of my old games that work on the M1 don’t work on the M4.
@@abdurrahmankhan129 I think you should be fine. :)
Paperlike will give you the textured surface. It’s what I use for iPad drawing. I got an M2 12.9 Pro about a year ago so even though the super thin and OLED sound fad, I’ll wait a few years. But,…… I look forward to seeing GregsGadgets test it out!
I am still rocking a pre-M1 iPad Pro and I do not feel like there is any reason to upgrade, unless I really wanted OLED. The software is the missing component. I am expecting Apple to do something exciting at WWDC.
Great recap. I’m conflicted too. Do I get the 13” Air, or the 13” Pro? I have the original 12.9” Pro, 9 years old now! I use it everyday, and it runs great, not slow at all. Battery still holds a good charge too. I mostly use it for consumption, watching videos, researching the internet, composing emails when I’m away from my Mac. The new Pro is clearly overkill and nearly double the price of the Air, but that M4 would future proof it’s use 5 years from now, as the one I have now is a testament to.
Why do you need a pro? Based on your use, pro is a waste of money. If you got money to waste then go ahead
Why do you even need to upgrade your pro if your current works well?
@@MrDanielfff777 the one thing wrong with mine now, is that it was/is the base model, only 16gb of RAM. So I can only have few programs on it anymore, and for the last two years I get monthly (sometimes weekly) reminders that it’s out of memory, so I have to go in and remove more apps, photos, videos, etc. And it often runs slow or hangs when the memory fills up. My mistake was getting the unit with too small of RAM, otherwise I probably could get another year or two out of it.
I want to buy the 1TB version anyway, but I don't know whether I should get the nano-texture display (I'm OK paying for the upgrade). What do you think now after using your glossy for a while? I'm using it for media consumption, office productivity, taking notes, concept mapping...etc.
I wouldn’t mind a 6 mm iPad if it had more battery life…
Something I failed to mention is bigger battery means more weight too, is that something you would want as well for the trade off?
@@GregsGadgetsas an old timer who lugged IBM Thinkpads (including the IBM luggable which weighed thirty pounds!*) around the world for many years I glory in the weight/thinness on my 12.9" M2 iPad and the only thing I really want is a longer battery life. Give me a 3lb device with a 36 hour battery life any day.
* I always had to carry import/export documents each time I took my IBM luggable (Model 55/68) into a foreign county to do network debugging on SNA Networks.
@@GregsGadgetsYes! Why not! It won't be increasing the weight by 1 kg or like that! Honestly! The difference between a 5 mm or 6 mm isn't something most people will feel over a long time, but battery life, you bet they will. I don't need another device that needs to be connected to a charging cable most of its lifetime, reducing its potential. And the price is not worth what it offers!
I run my current iPad Pro for much of the day before it needs to be charged again. The newest model is supposed to have equivalent battery life. So long as the battery life is not being reduced, what I have now is more than good enough.
@@GregsGadgets
Longer battery life outweighs the weight gain for me as the marjijal increase in weight is motivating really a big deal
I should add that I’m a visually impaired person and I gave away my M1 MaxBook because I can’t use the track pad - the cursor flies all over the place and I can’t find it. With iPads, I can pinch to zoom and the way the zoom magnifier is implemented works so much better for me. Also I can only read web pages using Safari’s READER NODE and that’s a deal beaker for me
I am colour blindness so there’s not much point in paying more for super display asfar as I’m concerned. I have mydriasis which fauses photophobia - this means I can’t read black text on white background. It appears super bright to me and the text fades out
So, in cnclusion, with my special needs, the model and configuration I decided on seems the best value fof money:
I have finally decided to get an 11-inch iPad Air with 1TB of storage. Previously, I planned on getting an iPad Pro because only the iPad Pro models then had more than 256 GB of memory.
My current iPad Pro is an 8-year-old 10.5 inch with 256 GB of memory so the model I plan to get has three improvements:
1) faster chip
2) bigger display
3) four times the memory
Of course, if money were no object, I would get the new iPad Pro but with limited financial resources the one I chose represents the best value for money that suits my needs
I have an iPad Pro from 2018 , 12.9”. I love it and carry it everywhere. It is very heavy though so I am very excited about a thinner lighter iPad.
I think you mad a good choice. I think bigger is better. I wanted the OLED screen too. I’m gettin the 512 GB configuration. That’s all I need. I’m getting the black Folio case. I think it shows less dirt and stains. Enjoy your videos. Thanks.
Greg, you made the right choice. No compromise. I ordered the 11 inch iPad Pro basic + Pencil Pro as I want light and compact for my needs. What sold me is the 5.3 mm and the Oled screen. The M4 is a bonus but we can feel something is up with that relative to June release of IOS 18 with accent on AI. Besides, i keep my iPads for a very long time, my current iPad Air 3 is on its last leg, it was time to change and move up. Now I just need to find a big bulky heavy duty case for it ! LOL!😂
I do think you're pretty wacky, but I'm anxious to see what you think about your new M4 iPad Pro.
When they said they were offering the iPad Air in 13" I knew that would be the one I want. I don't have the kind of money that you apparently have.
When I got my iPad mini with Retina display (iPad mini 2), one of the reasons I got that size, besides that it was just so damned portable, was that the screen is about the size of a letter-size piece of paper folded in half.
This is my preferred notebook size.
When I borrowed my sister's first gen iPad Pro I realized that the 13" screen is about the size of a full sheet of letter-size paper. Ideal! Of course that one was still a bit too heavy.
I also got my mini with the max 256GB storage because I expected to load it up with ebooks and magazines that I could read on the bus.
So I'm all behind your choice of a 13" with all the power and all the storage. I would have gotten a black one, but that's me.
You paid about the same for your iPad Pro and accessories as I paid for my M1 MacBook Air with the RAM and storage bumped up a notch to match the specs my old MacBook Pro, but again, that's me.
The nano-grooved screen was criticized for reducing the brightness and clarity of the Studio Pro XDR display, so I wouldn't want it here either, even if leaving it off is kinda like getting a Diet Coke with your bacon double cheeseburger.
I can't wait to see what it's like to use.
No doubt developers will find new and interesting things to do with the haptic feedback in the Apple Pencil Pro.
And WWDC is going to be Really Interesting this year!
Is $3k bc tbey want the vision pro to seem like a banger deal
Is it true my Apple Pencil 2 won’t work with the new iPad Pro?
why they made it thinner and lighter: 1. it'll be easier to break, and if it does, they can gouge you on repairs. maybe you'll have to buy it twice. 2. despite chip efficiencies, they didn't want to improve battery life. making it thinner meant they could shrink the battery. smaller batteries are less capable and have a shorter lives. 3. you already own accessories? good luck with that. they won't work anymore.
apple!
Exactly! I fully agree with you!
While I understand the need for removal of 1 camera module & better OLED display!
Apple needed to improve the woeful battery life & the restrictive iPad OS, making it 5.1/5.5 mm isn't & should not have been the priority. Don't think people would have any problem if the iPad was 6 or 7 mm thick/thin, if it came with a real OS & better battery life. And the price is pushing way deep into MacBook territory!
1. Be responsible. Can safely say that I've used Apple products for 10+ years and have never broken any of them. I paid a lot of money for them so therefor, I take care of them. 2. More efficiency means you can have a smaller battery in a slimmer model with same battery life. Claims are that the battery life is roughly the same. Let's check reality vice claims before you knock it. 3. I've upgraded numerous times. It's rare that an accessary is not compatible with other models. But when that does become a reality, hardware does eventually evolve to a point that older legacy hardware is no longer viable. You know what that's called...progress. The only issue I have with the iPad is the iOS. While close, for me it's still not a viable option for a true desktop/laptop replacement. I can do the vast majority of what I need to do on my iPad at home but there are times where I have to switch over to my MacBook or Microsoft based PC to perform certain tasks. Rare, but truly wish the iOS would fully support all functions like the Microsoft PC does.
Apple care is only 10$ a month if ur gonna spend over 1k for a tablet it’s well worth it. Apple will just give u a new iPad if it breaks with Apple care.
My theory is Apple makes these sorts of design decisions so that the anti-fanbois have something to live for 🥺❤️✨
Matt displays are kinda blurry, less colourful and just not as nice IMO. Also it means you cant put a screen protector on it. Just get a Paperlike if you want a matt screen and then your actual screen is protected as well. Personally I would get glossy and get a glass screen protector but as much as these new iPads look nice, I have an iPhone and a MacBook Pro 14" so I don't really see how having an iPad is going to make my life drastically better and it just means that I will use my other products less and therefore get less value out of them.
You talked me into it but still needs a major software overhaul or just allow it to run MacOS which I know won’t happen anytime soon
Until ipadOS changes I’m good watching you from my 9th gen iPad streaming device
Quite a positive review. Very interesting. Love that it’s thinner and lighter bec iPad Pro 2022 is heavy. It’s what I currently have. Like you said, it’s the biggest upgrade Apple made but I am sure this is not the end of it. If Samsung has OLED, I am an Apple fan. I have everything that Apple makes from laptop, watch, to iPhone. But I am only upgrading to M4. Of course, the pencil is a “must have”. That’s all I need which is perfectly fine for my needs as an artist. Thank u for the review.
I’m on the who was asking for a thinner and lighter iPad side? It was thin and light enough
They could have kept the same thickness as before or even made it thicker to get rid off the camera bump so it can sit flat and be more useful for drawing. With the increased thickness they could get a bigger battery and therefore longer battery life. Also add more ports and keep the 3.5 mm jack
Also then it won’t fold. Plus right now, they gave it powerful hardware and then hobbled it with iPadOS. Why?
Does the M2 have a headphone jack?
And with more battery they can also do it more heavier just enough to feel it uncomfortable to hold with one hand sooner like now.. because it's a portable device, not designed for only use on a table because it's heavy as hell..
@@TamasKiss-yk4st do people often use their iPads while holding them? Genuine question, I set mine down when it’s in use. It’s not really designed for one handed handheld use for anything longer the a few minutes. The phone’s better for one handed use
@@siloPIRATE maybe they have to hold it for a job...i see salespeople holding them in costco selling phones for at&t
Thinner is great, however, I kind of wish they would have put more battery in it and left it at the same thickness. I have the M2 12.9” with 5G right now. The battery lift could be better. I tend to take my iPad whenever I need to get out during the day. I can do most everything I need to do on the iPad, and if I need the MacBook, it can usually wait. Moving the camera to the middle was a big deal to me as well. I do a lot of Zoom and FaceTime calls, and usually when I have it on the Magic Keyboard. It was always awkward looking to the side.
I’m not getting thinner but my iPad can. I’ve had dozens of iPads since they were originally released in 2009, I keep one almost everywhere I sit in my home so I use 4 different iPads on most days. I’m most drawn to the mini so I’m happy to see a thin light bright pro. I ordered the 512GB 11” but I may return it for the 1TB which is $400 more, it’s not the storage more the RAM that I’m worried about. When I travel I still bring a MacBook Air and iPad but if there are some good new iPad OS updates that I can just go with the higher end iPad only and leave my MacBook at home.
You’re totally right. The thinness is actually what I think is the most interesting thing about this new iPad
Great video, buddy I am still on the fence. I hear what you’re saying about the potential will be unlocked with the next iPadOS. Looking forward to your review.
We need to see at WWDC, I got 13" 512Gb as Apple price for Buggerru disks are crazy. Pity for lower RAM but memoria management are a little different than MacOs and in one mounth we'll see
I bought the Samsung Tab 7 ultra some years back and while it’s nice it’s to heavy to use as a tablet for long. It’s not comfortable that was 726g for the WiFi version so this hopefully will be way more comfortable.. that was also 14.6-inch which didn’t help the weight issue.
Considering the small version I don’t need the most power. Although I’ll probably wait until the Apple store has them on display and I can get a feel for them. Also considering waiting until MagSafe arrives on IPad.. next time hopefully
I’m sharing your excitement. Ordered the 11” right after the event. Will be my travel computer + now that Final Cut Pro got upgraded with editing on external drive…🤞❤️
At first I was wondering if announcing the iPad before, presumably good announcements on iPadOS, at WWDC might backfire. Once I read someone comment that depending on how you spec the 13 inch, you could buy a base MacBook Pro, my thought was: this is Apple’s answer to all who kept asking why sell the base MacBook Pro. But part of me still want one! So I am very much looking forward to your review. I am a casual user hence the M4 is overpowered for my use, even for me the software is holding me back from having the iPad as my sole computer. There’s still things that require or go much better on a desktop. So I hope that WWDC brings good news, because deep down, even though it makes no financial sense I’d love that 13 inch iPad Pro
Thinner is good but I think you gotta weigh the pros and cons. Keeping the same thickness, increasing the battery and allowing the new Magic Keyboard to work for both new and old iPad pros definitely outweighs making it thinner. But I’m just disappointed the new keyboard won’t work with mine.
The hardware does look very nice! And if you want to have it and own it and use it because it's a cool piece of tech that's totally valid! But I didn't really hear anything in this video about why you don't currently use an iPad, and what the new iPad changes in that regard. Were you really not using an iPad because it wasn't thin enough and the screen wasn't OLED?
I think you bought the right configuration, that’s the one I would have wanted but it’s so expensive!
I agree the software needs to be more like Mac OS while still delivering a unique iPad experience. Something along the lines of “iPad Pro OS”!?
Great video. I bought the exact same config. You made the right choice on skipping the nano coating; several hands on people have said it looks slightly washed out and a little less sharp with the coating. Similar reports from the same coating on iMacs.
As far as we know Tim The Accountant soon iPad will have Ultra Pro Max Ultimate Plus M20 chip.. and still on kidsOS and 1mm thin to save on battery cost.
I will be getting a 13 inch iPad Pro but I hate that it's thinner. I have a iPad Pro 12.9 GEN 2 and even it is too light in my opinion.
Are you going to compare the m2 vs M4?
I am buying the 13 inch with 1TB, the new keyboard, Apple Pencil, but no matt finished display because from what I've seen in the videos it does affect the colors depending on what angle you viwe the display. I have the 11in iPad Pro but it is just too small for what I need now to work on.
Why do you need thermal efficiency to watch RUclips on a $2000 iPad Pro? lol
*Need thermal efficiency so that my 3 yr old can watch RUclips on a $2000 iPad Pro hahah
I mean if you’re asking this question, you aren’t the intended customer. If you want an iPad and you aren’t a pro user, then buy the other models. This is great for certain people. I use my iPad for paying jobs. I produce music with my iPads. I use my iPad as a DJ during gigs. My wife uses her iPad to edit photos and design graphics for her business. These might be worth it for us and other pro users. Not saying I’m going to purchase it, but I appreciate that a company is building high end hardware for that self employed person or smaller businesses.
Omg literally putting all these things on the new iPad to justify the price when most of is just wanted oled m3
@@mattyin3229there’s nothing “Pro” about Apple’s products lately. It’s just a marketing term to make people feel superior and get them to spend more money. The new “Pro” pencil does barrel rolls! Nothing pro about that. Oled screens aren’t “Pro” either. Just marketing to again make people feel good about spending more money. It’s great if you can make money with the products. I’m a photographer and sometimes I edit with my M1 IPAD PRO as well but it’s just marketing.
The adaptive flash has me curious. Myself and people I know, we use apps to scan and read printed material to us. What would be cool is the ability to scan line by line and have the material read in real time, kind of like a reading pen with the ability to display the material in a large print high contrast theme all inside the default camera or magnifier app, and since Apple already has text detection in the magnifier, it may not be too difficult to add, and the neural engine could help correct for any print deficiencies, maybe?
I bought the 11 inch iPad Pro should be here the 15th Wednesday. Used my seven year old 10.5 inch iPad for a $100 trade-in and then used my 10% education discount saved another hundred bucks. I also bought the logic tech keyboard case combo for $229 from Apple because right now that’s the only place you can get it and as thin as this thing is, it’s got to have a case. I bought the logitech keyboard case seven years ago. It’s never let me down dropped my iPad a couple times, but never broke anything. What’s nice is in the car or laying down on the couch, you can just pull it apart and skip the keyboard really convenient. Can’t do that with a MacBook.
Im thinking about the 11 inch as well plus itll save me some money
Can you comment back here what your thoughts are once you get it? I'm looking to get the 11 inch, but worried about overheating and might just get an M2. Looks like greg got the bigger ipad
Damn. I didn’t use the education discount!
Bought the same specs and accessories myself but I am an artist and Ipad over MacBook user. Dgmr I love my Mbook but I find everything I need usually on my Ipad, now with the improved Mkeyboard and Apencil and not biting on and upgrading to the M1 ipad since my 2020 A17 Ipad purchase I feel AI possibilities pushed me into the premium tier with this model.
I’d be interested to see how one handing the 13in feels. Last gen was uncomfortable. Thanks for the videos Greg. Great channel 👍🏻
I feel you regarding the struggle during the ordering process. I really like the 13" with 2Tb of storage so I can download all of my TV shows and Movies I have purchased. I want to transition from Final Cut on my Mac Mini and start doing more work on the iPad, as I don't need the raw power because my workload is very light.
I was going to order the 1TB w/ nano-textured glass but delivery times were 3-4 weeks, so I switched to the 2TB nano-textured glass and am picking up morning of the 15th.
U can get 1TB at best buy quicker
Every review so far "not a ipad person, dont know why I'm ordering, Im hesistant to click the order button, but Im ordering!" lol. Great vids tho.
I ordered one. I do work about bending even though I do baby my iPads. All of my carry bags do have a padded interior pocket. I suppose it all depends what else I load in the carry bag/sling as to whether I damage/bend the new iPad. For what it is worth I will have my new iPad in a folio/Apple Magic Keyboard..
I would love the Magic Keyboard to be able to flip fully around, or at least that it would be possible to magnetically snap on the iPad on the backside. Now its no Smart Keyboard Folio that does just that. Not good.
I belive there is a thicker steel. At the landscape center point of the edge..
I bought the 11 inch with one terabyte of memory and the non-glare screen and I bought it because I had an 11 inch and a 12.9 the 12.9 was very uncomfortable to hold for a long time and I realize that the new 13 inch one is lighter, but I didn’t wanna take a chance and I went with the 11 inch with thewith the non-with the new screen type, I have to wait 2 to 3 weeks to get it. Oh well.
Yeah I have the 12.9 iPad pro 3rd gen 2018 and I’m happy with the thinness and CPU speed. I don’t really need it to be thinner.
Sold my MacBook M1 MacBook Pro Max 16" and getting the M4 iPad Pro 11' to use with my Apple studio display (big screen, with studio display / small and easy to go anywhere without)
Coming from an 11 at and spending more time on my iPad and my MacBook Pro I went with the same configuration you did but with 2 TB as I travel a lot and sometimes don’t have cloud access international my hope is that after WWDC firmware will make this truly standalone and I can do away with the MacBook altogether as often to have to tote a corporate laptop as well
I’ve seen ppl complain about the weight of the 12.9 with keyboard case. I would like to see weight comparison between the M2 & M4 iPads.
Function over form, I'll take a bigger battery over a slightly thinner iPad any day
Just preordered the 13” 1tb in space black from AT&T! Says it should get to me in Alaska by the 27th. I am so excited!
Do you know when exactly MacBook Pro 16” inches M4 comes out.? Thanks 😊
I actually order yesterday & ended up having the same order & specs as you. Except I ordered the blacks keys & I don't remember what the actually color of the iPad itself is!
Haha nice, hope you enjoy it!
Until they actually make the software match the hardware, I don’t see a need for upgrading. I agree that iPadOS is still lacking compared to what it could be. Especially with this new hardware. Doesn’t need to be full MacOS. But it can definitely do a lot more more than what it does now.
I love video editing on my iPad. I hope DaVinci resolve runs faster on it. I just ordered my iPad Pro hopefully it’s faster love the thinner to for travel.
Greg, I’m right with you Bro. Yesterday I purchased the same configuration as you but added the glass treatment. My reasons are two fold. First, for future operating systems and software. June will be interesting. Second, the screen and brightness. I love it is going to be lighter than what I have now, which is several years old. Not to mention FCP2 will be able to run on it. Yes, I wish it was less money. But be happy, you made the right choices.
I completely agree with you, I remember when I purchased my iPhone 6 Plus, it was so thin and light, it was awesome, and now my iPhone 14 Pro Max is so thick and heavy, I'm glad they're pushing the design to the limit again, I'd love to see that on a MacBook Pro as they used to do, it's more possible than ever now with Apple silicon 😃
Yes.. I already ordered (in shopping bag) the 11" 256GB Pro model.... It is replacing my 12.9" Gen 3 iPad Pro. Loved the big screen on my current iPad but then I have a 15 MacBook Air where I do any 'heavy lifting' on work stuff. The 11" will suffice for its primary role of reading, videos, travel companion. Excited about the upgrade to the OLED screen!
Another point is how will iPadOS leverage the ai capabilities of this chip? They say to never buy anything based on future updates or promises; but depending on how the next few updates go this machine could be so incredibly useful
chief kiss.
I like the reduction in weight and the thinner design especially, if I get it with the new thinner lighter magic keyboard. If Apple decides to somehow install a dual boot system with MacOS, the 13” would my preference to use it as a convertible laptop. If not, I would probably stick with the 11” and use it the way I do today with my current iPad Pro. I look forward to seeing your video after you have had a chance to play with it for a while.
i just ordered the 13" with the magic keyboard and the new pencil. We will see if new apps are made for all this power!
I ordered the same configuration as you except black keyboard! I have the previous gen iPad Pro with white keyboard, trading it in for $510 credit and May 15th delivery. It took me under 2 minutes to make my selections. No Brainer!
SAME battery life with the M2?! WHAT. A. BUMMER.
How did apple bring 2000 nits OLED display on iphones pros without Tandem technology?
My 2018 iPad Pro 12.9" died recently. I used that thing all day every day. I'm 99% sure it died because over the years, it got bent just from putting it in my bag when the bag was a little over stuffed. At some point, it was definitely bent. So as much as I wanted the new pro and the oled screen, I went with the 13" iPad Air instead, because I don't trust the thinner pro not to bend again. That, and I don't need the pro as I have a MacBook Pro for intensive work
Just fyi it's not the brightest Apple display. The display in the iphone 15 pro measures well over 2k nits in the ultra bright mode that activates in sunlight.
Great video which if it doesn't get hot nore easly bends it being thinner is a good thing!
Seems you an d I went through the same ordering struggle, and ended up ordering the same specs, but I went with the black.
When will we be able to compile applications on iPad Pro?
I ordered the same configuration sans pencil and black instead of silver. My old iPad Pro 13 inch is so old I can’t upgrade the OS anymore. I pick up the new one on 5/15! Oh, I also got Apple Care.
The bigger weight reduction means it’s got less battery so they’re able to take more battery out of the 13 right?
Thinner and lighter is always good. The best iPad I ever owned was the iPad Air 2, it was like a feather and I miss it. Since then they’ve gotten heavier and thicker. The main reason I’m buying this new iPad Pro is because it’s thinner and lighter, the OLED screen is just gravy.
I am w/ you Greg, lighter, thinner, faster, best screen, improved keyboard & pencil, I am all in on this update. Struggled w/ which model to get, stuck w/ 11" Pro b/c I wanted a lighter iPad then previously, only wishing I bumped up from 512 to 1TB learning after I ordered that the M4 in the 1TB plus has the extra core but probably won't make a difference what I do, oh well. lol
I think you are right! I order the same configuration but 256 GB. It is very good enjoy good technology when you can afford it! I can not wait to have the new IPad 13" with M4!
Just ordered the 13”, pencil, keyboard and AppleCare! Just for fun, got the space black pro and white keyboard! Thank goodness for the educational discount! Still a pretty penny 😱 figured better get the AppleCare being the ridiculous thinness of the pro!
Great analysis! Thanks.
The OLED display on the Apple Watch Ultra has 3000 knits.
I wish they would have kept it the same thinkness and use all the extra space for larger battery.
I'm buying both the 11" Pro and 13" Pro. The 11" will have the nano texture glass, and the 13" just regular. The 13" will be for indoor work and recreation, and the 11" will be for outdoor work and recreation.
Man, did you rob a bank? Just kidding, good for you!
get another one for your toilet, for some on-the-bowl work and recreation
@@budbin Whenever they release a mini with OLED.
Bro what is your profession?
@@Earthsylewindhe owns a ton of walmart stock
I’ll be using it with a case so thinness isn’t as important to me. But I agree that the display technology is worth the investment.
Made by LG but apple projects it like they developed it! That's where I have a problem with apple!
@@BlackHawkTejas the display is LG. But the processor is Apple.
Hello sir, I want to buy an iPad and I want to use it for a maximum of 7 years. Which iPad can I buy, the iPad Air 2024 or the iPad Pro M4? Please reply to me.
I think I’m in the minority but the thinness gives me anxiety of it bending while I draw or while it’s in my backpack, the only reason I’m considering going for the 13 air instead; but I really want the M4 and OLED
