11" M4 iPad Pro is technically not the thinnest Apple product ever because the depth is 5.3 mm. You have to buy the 13" version which 5.1 mm for it be called the thinnest Apple product ever.
You got to do it with a business mindset. If you actually do any sort of pro level stuff and how often do you use the ipad. If yes or you plan on doing pro level stuff and if its almost daily plus you can afford it buy the pro. But make sure to keep it like 4-6 years
"Apple's pricing strategy is a masterclass in making customers feel like they've won the lottery every time they buy a product, even if it costs an arm and a leg for minor enhancements."
I don’t feel like anyone who already owns an Apple Pencil and Magic Keyboard will feel like they’re winning. I certainly won’t. I might not even upgrade from my 6 year old A12X because the new one is $600 more expensive than if I’d gotten an M2.
I got an IPad Pro 12.9 5th gen, I wanted an upgrade but the price increases hurt to much. It’s more of a masterclass in putting people off getting an upgrade.
Just a heads-up from someone who uses their iPad exclusively for illustration. If you are thinking of getting a new iPad Air instead of a refurbished Pro M2, the new iPad Air DOES NOT have different RAM options. This might seem pointless but if you use something like Procreate, the amount of RAM in your iPad will limit how many layers you can have active. The iPad Air, even at the 1TB option, only has 8GB of RAM. The M2 iPad Pro from 2022, in the 1TB and 2TB options, has 16GB of RAM.
@whiteQueenP I also noticed that the Ipad air doesn’t have ProMotion, which can be bad for pencil responsivness right ? 60hertz instead of 120. I currently have an Ipad pro 2nd gen (2017), I would like to upgrade but I can’t afford the new Ipad pro. So I was hesitating between the new ipad air and the ipad pro 6th gen from 2022. Good thing is the ipad air has the new pencil BUT doesn’t have ProMotion and the RAM you are mentioning. Am I correct to conclude that the ipad pro 6th gen is a better choice for me ? (Even though I won’t have the new pencil. I’m an illustrator and procreate is the main reason I use an Ipad (and video games but that’s secondary)
In case it helps, this are the layers for some resolutions in the 8GB M1 iPad Pro (using 300dpi): A4 114 layers, 3000x3000 111 layers, 5000x5000 37 layers, 10000x10000 6 layers. I personally draw at 2048x2732 and use 5 or less layers.
After I did researching on the iPad models, I recently found iPad Pro 12.9 inch 6th Gen M2 at Best Buy around $750 compared to iPad Air 13 inch. I decided to buy the iPad Pro because ProMotion I am use to it from my 15 pro max, and 14 inch MacBook Pro
Grabbed myself a black 13” Pro 1TB Nano-Glass Cellular w/black KB and stylus. Last version I had was the original iPad Pro since what feels like 2015, so gonna be a great upgrade and will last me for years to come like my last pro. Edit wow, thought it was 2019, but it was 2015 when I got it and still running strong
What I’m really surprised by is the fact that the battery is still running great. Its usually mounted on our truck dash and at 100% most of the time but when unplugged it will last longer than a M2 iPad Pro I had returned more than a month ago when I heard this one was rumored to be coming out.
My original 12.9” Pro is still working fine and I got the M2 one last year. The screen is obviously better, but what I really like is 2TB storage. Now I am torn between the 13” Air or the M4 Pro for a different account.
Honestly MKBHD said it best- they’re still iPads even if they have more features for the pencil (seriously tho why is there now 4 pencils? why can’t we have 2 max but 1 preferably??) and the pros have OLED & are lighter. but they’re still iPads I’m still here with my iPad 8 chilling
This is one of the few times I seriously disagree with MKBHD. Why do people only ask the question, “what apps can take advantage of iPadOS?” when this question can equally be asked of macOS. There are very, very few programs that will tax the M1, let alone the M3 Max on a Mac. Most could easily run on less than an M1. The same exists on an iPad, but only the iPad gets questioned about having too much power. It isn’t iPadOS’s fault that there are few apps that can take full advantage. But it’s also not macOS’es fault that very few apps can do the same.
@@PonkanPonkanPonkan No, the point is nobody should be asking this question at all since there really isn’t a whole lot of difference between iPads and Macs. It is silly to ask the question at all because there are so few apps that can tax any computer/tablet. The question is asked to insult the iPad. Those people who demand macOS on the iPad are usually demanding it because they want ONE app the Mac has but the iPad doesn’t, and because of that, iPadOS sucks somehow when the absence of an app has to do with the developer, not iPadOS. Yet nobody insults the Mac for apps that exist on the iPad but not the Mac. See my point? It’s a double standard.
@@PonkanPonkanPonkan No, you don’t understand at all. It is not an issue and shouldn’t be. It would be very bizarre if every app taxed a CPU, overheating it and throttling it badly. The vast majority of apps on all computer platforms don’t do that, so it’s completely normal not to. Yet, the iPad is insulted because it is normal. For some reason, macOS snobs believe every app has to “take advantage of the full power of the M-whatever” (place SoC name here) for the iPad to be a real computer, yet they don’t realize that even fewer apps take full advantage of the SoC’s on Macs. So why aren’t they calling Macs limited because very few apps tax Mac SoC’s? They take it for granted Macs are real computers, but iPads are a toy because… why? A Mac is a real computer but so is an iPad, but the snobs don’t think so for stupid and completely illogical reasons. When’s the last time you heard anyone say the SoC on a Mac is overkill, yet every time Apple revs the iPad Pro, there’s a constant chorus of critics saying the M chip is overkill and useless?
I have finally decided to get an 11-inch iPad Air with 1TB of storage. Previously, I planned on getting an iPad Pro because only the iPad Pro models then had more than 256 GB of memory. My current iPad Pro is an 8-year-old 10.5 inch with 256 GB of memory so the model I plan to get has three improvements: 1) faster chip 2) bigger display 3) four times the memory Of course, if money were no object, I would get the new iPad Pro but with limited financial resources the one I chose represents the best value for money that suits my needs
If you upgrade regularly ie every year or 2, then buy the basic iPad; however if you plan to keep for 3 or 4 yrs the Air is a far better option and if you plan on 5yrs+ than get a Pro.its about future proofing your investment for as long as possible but if future proofing isn’t important because you change them often then the cost to buy is more important (ie the cheapest). If you need a certain feature then that becomes the important factor rather than price or future proofing. I’m using an iPad Pro 10.5” (2017), so I’m now upgrading to the new iPad Pro 11” (2024 M4) and hope to still be using it in 2030.
Agreed. I'm replacing a 11'" 2018 iPad Pro which has been very good to me. I've had it 6 years, but between my student discount expiring soon, and the great trade $ in on my 2018 model, I have to make the move. As a light iPad user (consumer stuff and the odd work presentation), I expect this my new 13" M4 iPad pro to do the trick for 5 to 7 years,
Ordered the 13”. Cancelled. Ordered the 11”. Cancelled. Ordered the 13”….😂 At the end of the day, I’m upgrading from the 2020 iPad Pro 12.9 for the OLED display. M4 is great but the reality is I’m not even pushing the 2020 chip too much. I’m optimizing for the display over the portability.
Upgrading from the 2020 11" iPad Pro. Unfortunately it's been accidentally dropped a couple of times and there are a couple of small artifacts at the edges of the screen. So I have been waiting for this release to upgrade. But I always intended to get 1TB of storage in order to get 16GB of memory instead of 8GB. I hate it when my apps reload on me. I would have gotten the 13" for the display as well if they hadn't put it on the 11", but I don't really need that large a screen.
@@mattbosley3531how I be the 11’ 2020 and I don’t have that issue and I have 10 to 15 tabs open no more though and never an issues my stuff don’t refresh or slow down
I would say the basic iPad Pro is totally worth it for the specs you don't need, at least for 99.9% of the buyers. I'd imagine it's good only for artists and people who require to do video shooting and editing on the go. Obviously for techies and people who has money to spend to experience the latest and greatest, as there is a difference in experience in screen and pencil tech. If I was 15 years younger I'd get one just for the tech as well. But today, I've become an average user with average needs. A MacBook Air + iPad mini has become the perfect combo for me. I'm still using the iPad mini 5 btw, and still great for media consumption (no gaming)
I didn’t realize the base storage came with a slower M4 chip. Doesn’t matter for my usage, but I wish it came with the full M4. Great video. Can’t wait until the 15th.
@@kriztoppa I want a mini with similar to pro features. Thin and light weight. Big chip upgrade, storage upgrade, and thinner bezels. I basically want it to be an iphone replacement at home. gotta be light weight!
Dude completely forgot about the jelly scroll in the ipad minis. I have a ipad pro i bought a mini because of how cool they were and it’s completely unusable because of that one issue. They said they will address this issue in the next launch of mini later this year i guess
If someone's looking at the new iPad Air, I would personally steer them towards a refurbished or used M1 or M2 iPad Pro instead. It's the same accessory ecosystem and you get the the Pro Motion display, Face ID, Thunderbolt, etc.
Don’t be fooled iPad Air is not 11 inch it’s 10.9 and that extra 0.1 inch it’s important because it’s such a big difference that you will never notice.
Good overview. I’ve heard others mention the strangeness about the air no longer being the thinnest and lightest device but it was introduced and has always just been ‘air’ in comparison to the standard iPad. Never compared to the iPad Pro. So in my mind it still makes sense calling it the iPad Air as it’s thinner and lighter than the iPad (10).
I’m going to upgrade from my iPad Air 4th generation to the m2 air and getting the Apple Pencil Pro. After trading in my current iPad the total cost of the iPad and pencil is CHEAPER than what I paid for my current iPad alone that I bought refurbished.
I returned an iPad Pro 12.9 a week ago waiting for this announcement. Decided to take a regular iPad 10th gen instead. iPad Air doesn’t make any sense, you can get a Pro M2 with Pro Motion on sale right now for the same price. Also, only the older Magic Keyboard that is compatible with the new iPad Air M2. To me, the new iPad Air should have had a 120 hz display and a lighter Magic Keyboard otherwise is too heavy
purchasing the outgoing m2 ipad pro 12.9 will get you everything the new air does but with a mini led hdr screen, pro motion, thunderbolt and quad speakers. and ive seen them around 800 bucks. The original m1 ipads are still overkill for ipad os so there really is no point spending a premium on m4 today when you can spend almost half and get nearly the same performance and features.
Just got a mini 6. I know from an apple enthusiast point of view it might not have been the best purchase, but it’s more than fast enough for what I do. And all the rumors have just been pointing to a chip upgrade.
Coming from 3rd gen iPad Pro (1st of this design language). All I’ve been waiting for is the OLED display - And finally, it’s here. I was close to getting the last model with M2 and the mini led display but I’m glad I read websites leaks and watch RUclipsrs repeat it in layman’s terms.
I'm looking to get an ipad for art, and I think this is one of the best videos I've seen about which one to get. Even though I'm still looking one to see the drawing experience, I think you made a very compelling point as of why I may only need an air vs a pro. I can wait a bit longer to wwdc but as of today I'm leaning toward an air 11 because of form factor and portability.
I'm not saying that upgrading is a must if you have an m1 or m2 ipad pro, however, if someone needs a brand new top of the line tablet, then the M4 offers considerably more for the price than the M2. Over here at least in my country the M4 costs roughly 140 bucks more (base model) compared to the m2, and for that price I would get some upgrades, including an OLED display, twice the amount of storage and what i like the most is that the front facing camera is FINALLY positioned to benefit landscape mode users THANK GOD, not to mention, the performance upgrade with the M4 chip. I would go as far as to say the new Ipad line up (compared to the previous gen) is actually reasonably priced.
Watching this on a 2018 pro. Still using the Apple Pencil pro 2, no issues whatsoever. Literally the same device , no need to have better specs when the software isn’t up to par yet.
The new 13“ iPad Air is very interesting to me because I‘ve had my eye on a bigger iPad for a while but was reluctant to get a Pro. If you work with split-screen a lot, having a bigger display really makes a difference. That said, I like the Mini, too, because it is so portable. A Mini and a 13“ Air as a team seem to me the best of both worlds at the moment, with the latter as a laptop replacement. I’m just glad I decided on an Apple Pencil USB-C a while ago because that one will still be compatible with the newest generations.
Thanks Greg. Great comparison. Really helpful to start evaluating until user reviews start landing. I initially was leaning to the Pro but after watching this see that an Air would more than suffice for my usage needs.
Hey Greg, the new iPad Pro sounds and looks really good. I still have an iPad Pro 12.9 fourth generation with the A12 chip. Is it worth upgrading to the new M4 iPad Pro or try to get a M2 iPad Pro at a discount?
I will be replacing the iPad 6th generation so looking forward to an upgrade. Wondering about the 1pad air 13" if it would be cumbersome to hold in your hands vs. the 11" model.
I want that screen on the pro. Being an iPhone Xr survivor, I can't tell you how much I appreciate a bright screen. The 3nm chip will add about two years to future proofing (which is important to me as I upgrade iPads every 5 to 7 years). So that softens the blow on pricing. Another consideration is inflation (or the devaluation of currency). These things are only going to have upward pressure on prices. My order is in, and my 13 inch pro arrives next Wednesday.
I’ve had two regular iPads and I would like to experience something new and different but I don’t know if I want an iPad Air or an iPad Pro. I would really like a pro, but the price is killing me. What should I do?
Hi Greg, love your videos! I am a regular iPad user and mostly just watching videos on it. Would you recommend that I get a new iPad Air or iPad 10 gen? Is iPad Air better in terms of video quality?
Do the SSD degrade over time? Would like to know if the nano screen has texture that improves the feel of the pencil. I don't like the camera sticking out of the back side. I want an iPad to lay flat on a table
Instead of making it thinner which no one asked for, they could have kept it the same size but with larger battery or other features which would use the m4 processing but with more features. It might so so thin u fear it snapping in half.
Honestly for someone like me the choice is between refurbed m2 pro refurbed OR a new Ipad 13. Would be great with that comparisson, for someone who needs to edit video and pictures, with focus on screen and IO speeds. Hope its coming.
oddly (but thankfully) the 13" pro is cheaper than last years 12.9" 256GB in the UK. Thats mainly because the 12.9" was massively overpriced since 2020 so its a price correction due to exchange rate - but it does make it a little easier to self-justify
As a 12.9” M1 iPad Pro owner, I think I’m fine. Cost to upgrade I’m better off with a MacBook. Even an iMac seems like a deal. I wonder if the iPad Air speakers will now sound better than the iPad Pro speakers.
For _most_ people, the standard iPad is an excellent device - especially since it now has USB-C. The size is large enough, actually very ideal for many cases. For "power users" - the iPad Air was a very solid update - basically last gen's M2 iPad Pro with a few tweaks. Even compelling for older Pro users wanting an upgrade but not able to justify the price hike for the latest Pro models. The Pro is the halo product, and really there for IT professionals and to make the Air look reasonable. It is really only worth it if you plan to use the "pro" features and/or _really_ value an amazing OLED display - granted, I would want to see this in person before going for this. M4 is going to be overpowered for the iPad for a while, but they probably won't update it for a while either. For me, if I can use the device to make money or on the job, then I can go Pro - otherwise, no. The other option is to simply get a previous gen iPad/Air/Pro for less now this event has happened - each event, there are at least a few people wanting to trade up.
I have the m2 ipad pro it’s very good but tbh you can’t do anything with that power i don’t regret getting m2 but if someone asked me which ipad they should get i’ll tell them just go with the m1 and pay for a larger space they can use better than power they can’t use
Still have an 2020 iPad Pro that’s going strong. I use it for university, drawing and whenever I need to take notes. I am a little bit disappointed that the pro pencil wont work with mine, but that’s not enough for me to up grade a perfectly fine Maschine
Great video I like to buy one day the iPad Air and iPad Pro. What if the iPads had like 3-4 cameras with a great video and camera and zoom quality and with a strong battery and screen etc
I think the biggest things are, as you said: OLED, and AI. OLED is something that is very clear and tangible - and especially if you are used to it, you really can't go back. AI features I strongly believe are coming at WWDC but again, I believe it will only be important to "Pro" iPad users; ie, users who use their iPads often, and on deep projects/work. For those of us who aren't really Pro iPad users but kinda still want the iPad Pro for that display and future proofing, my take is: save up, get it, keep it for a long time and use it as much as possible. Do some projects on it, learn some new skills. Make it worth it, you never know where it will take you :)
Still using the iPad Pro 11” 2nd generation. I’m surprised to find that the new iPad Air 11” display has 100 nits less than my 4 year old iPad Pro. But for the new IPad Pro, I don’t really need the M4 chip. So there’s no reason for me to spend the extra for a pro. Now I’m stuck. Should I keep using the old iPad? If not, what should I choose?
I believe iPad Mini will get updated either at fall 2024 or march 2025. A18 Pro, so same chip as iPhone 16 family. Probably the best edition of A18 Pro. In my opinion the best reason to buy iPad Pro M4 is the document scanner. If that is exclusive to iPad Pro M4. If so, iPhone 16 and/or 16 Pro will add that feature thanks to the new NPU. Keep in mind that X Elite and Plus or whatever it's called got an even faster NPU than M4. 45 vs 38 TOPS.
I had bought the ipad pro 12.9 6th generation 2 months ago. After 10 years i had return to Apple ecosystem. So my question is should i keep it or sell and buy a new one?
FYI - Apple stores DON’T have THE NEW I-PAD MODELS in their stores yet. They won’t until approximately 5/15/24 if they are delivered on-time. I would call before you go to on 5/15 to make sure that they will be at the Apple stores if you want to physically check the new models out.
I think it's hard to know if the deciding factor between the Air and the Pro is the display or not at this point in time. We will have to wait a month and wait to see what A.I. features may or may not be enabled by the M4 vs. the M2 and also if there will be any other differences as to what iPadOS enables on an M2 vs. an M4 iPad...
I miss something I consider must have for a recommendation video: Longevity and price per year. The M4 chip adds two years (on average) of use before needing to upgrade and thus reducing its price per year significantly over the M2
Hi Greg, do you think does it worth to go and buy iPad Pro for reading some documents and magazines etc. or will iPad Air 11'' more than enough for the screen quality?
I’m really interested in the anti glare screen. You forget to cover it. I have problems with glare. I don’t need 1TB storage but that is the only way to get the screen. Do you have any options on this.
This year “Air” is not about lightness. It’s either “how much air would it take (as a measure of, well, space:)) to fill” or “how much you pay for air in this product”:)
battery technology doesn't change much for a long time and it takes large spaces, in the meantime m series chips consume less and less power, in order to make iPad thiner, the obvious choice is to cut battery capacity, that's the trade-off between duration time and thickness.
In games the extra core will be negligible but in productivity where the software can utilize the extra core might make a small difference that’s how it’s on my pc with 14 cores and a 4090fe
I just ordered the 10th gen iPad at the new lower price for my in laws. To replace an old ipad air they had been using which is like 9 years old. 64 GB is kind of a shame, but should be enough for their needs
Not going to lie, the new Pro models are beautifully thin and light, and the brilliant Dual OLED screens are tough to ignore, but I have the mini LED M1 12.9 Pro, so I just have to hang tight and wait.
I am even more confused than I was after the launch. I first thought I would downgrade from my 12.9” iPad Pro 5th gen to the new “13”” iPad Air, however I was a little disappointed that the Air didn’t have more upgrades, including the new accessories. Then the reason for the downgrade is because I’m just a general iPad user but I’m an apple snob that loves having all the new releases, also I have been using my iPad 7th Gen for watching shows in bed because of the weight of my iPad Pro, worried about dropping it. But looking at the new air 13” compared to my current 12.9” 5th gen iPad Pro my pro has 1. Promotion Technology, 2. 10MP ultra wide camera, 3. True depth camera, 4. Face ID, 5. XDR brightness 6. four speaker audio, 7. Five studio quality microphones. 8. No need to purchase a new Apple Pencil that i rarely use, 9. I dont need the landscape camera, 10. #2 & #7 also been removed in the new iPad pros either. actually considering I purchase a new iPhone Pro Max every year I think it’s not necessary for my to upgrade or “downgrade” my ipad set up. Thank you for your video and helping me realise i dont actually need it.
The iPad's battery life remains the same because it's becoming thinner, lighter, and more energy efficient despite monumental upgrades. For some perspective, the original iPad with 3G weighed almost 40% more than the latest 11-inch iPad Pro with 5G.
The lower Pro one is probably better on heat... but it seems like overkill either way with iPadOS. Maybe we'll see them do something nice at WWDC. Until then we still have great hardware with too limited of software.
I have an iPad Pro, pencil and keyboard in my basket… my old one (3rd generation) over heated and the screen now has a green tinge which is annoying as I do a lot of art in procreate and I like to tweak my photos on a big screen. My old keyboard has stopped working too so even if it had been compatible I’d have to get a new one…. And then there’s the pencil…. Please tell me I need it! 😂
it’s such a bummer that pencil 2 doesn’t work with these new ones, i get that the pencil pro has a new rotation brush feature but i wish they’d let us use the old ones anyway because not everyone will need that feature
Which one should I buy? Neither. I’m sticking with my 11” M1 iPad Pro. It’s been great unless Apple’s new iPadOS 18 clobbers performance (which it might, iPadOS is a performance slug.)
Finished watching your video. For me it makes no sense to upgrade from my 256GB iPad Air with the M1 chip. I think I will keep it until it stops getting software support, then I will get a new Air
I just bought the 11 inch. M2 iPad Pro 3 days ago, should I return it and get the new one ? Update : I returned the iPad and got a full refund and ordered the new M4 iPad Pro
There’s no new design, the borders are still the same size. The shape is still the same, all the buttons and cameras are still in the same place. Dimensions are technically different because it’s thinner but that’s it.
The Ipad I have is 8 years old and I don't see me upgrading anytime soon as I only use it basically as a paper diary. (I have the new macbook pro m2). However, if they got significantly thinner and better cameras (why are they still 12 megapixel after 8 years apple?) and significantly better battery life I'd probably take the plunge.
I highly doubt Apple would make any significant changes to IPadOS or open up their wall garden to make IPadOS actually take advantage of the hardware. Again, we're better waiting on the EU kicking Apple corporation ass with anti-trust and monopolistic practices. Apple's does Not want to let go of their wall garden because that would give users options outside of Apple's App store and they could no longer gate keep.
Yeah, let's see if the new iPad os will actually make use of the new power and ai core performance. Otherwise the M4 is a bit of a waste on an iPad. At this point. Just let it run Mac os. It would instantly justify the price.
That’s what I’m waiting for. I had really planned on getting the 2 TB pro but so many reviews are saying it’s not even worth it so since I already have a desktop Mac a MacBook iPhone I’m thinking I may end up going with the one terabyte air unless they throw out a surprise but I don’t think Timmy will let that happen
so they rounded up the estimates of the display sizes instead of being accurate so it's still 12.9 inches not 13...? did they think people wouldn't measure the screen size ?

Just a heads-up from someone who uses their iPad exclusively for illustration. If you are thinking of getting a new iPad Air instead of a refurbished Pro M2, the new iPad Air DOES NOT have different RAM options. This might seem pointless but if you use something like Procreate, the amount of RAM in your iPad will limit how many layers you can have active. Can the M1 handle video editing on Final Cut Pro? Instead of spending so much money
What about battery? I guess the new air will have the best battery life.
In case it helps, this are the layers for some resolutions in the 8GB M1 iPad Pro (using 300dpi):
A4 114 layers, 3000x3000 111 layers, 5000x5000 37 layers, 10000x10000 6 layers.
I personally draw at 2048x2732 and use 5 or less layers.
@@nairazak_art "A4 114 layers, ... "In Procreate. Right? (Purely academic question for me, since I use my M1 Pro even more lightly than you do. 🙂)
Exactly what most people miss, iPads are meant to be long term products. I believe the right time to upgrade is when you have a really old model
I have the same 2015 iPad Pro but I just ordered the 13” Air bc that will still be an upgrade over a nearly 9 year old iPad. 😂
What I’m really surprised by is the fact that the battery is still running great. Its usually mounted on our truck dash and at 100% most of the time but when unplugged it will last longer than a M2 iPad Pro I had returned more than a month ago when I heard this one was rumored to be coming out.
@@CryptoNut82 very true! I’ve had zero problems with my iPad battery and it doesn’t drain like old iPhones do sometimes.
My original 12.9” Pro is still working fine and I got the M2 one last year. The screen is obviously better, but what I really like is 2TB storage. Now I am torn between the 13” Air or the M4 Pro for a different account.
Honestly MKBHD said it best- they’re still iPads even if they have more features for the pencil (seriously tho why is there now 4 pencils? why can’t we have 2 max but 1 preferably??) and the pros have OLED & are lighter. but they’re still iPads
I’m still here with my iPad 8 chilling
This is one of the few times I seriously disagree with MKBHD. Why do people only ask the question, “what apps can take advantage of iPadOS?” when this question can equally be asked of macOS. There are very, very few programs that will tax the M1, let alone the M3 Max on a Mac. Most could easily run on less than an M1. The same exists on an iPad, but only the iPad gets questioned about having too much power. It isn’t iPadOS’s fault that there are few apps that can take full advantage. But it’s also not macOS’es fault that very few apps can do the same.
@@techinrl9869Based on your statement, MKBHD is correct. You just wanted to have the same attention on macOS.
@@techinrl9869 Really? How can a product improve without these kind of questions?
I was really hoping for an iPad mini 7. I'll stick with my mini 6 for now.
I have finally decided to get an 11-inch iPad Air with 1TB of storage. Previously, I planned on getting an iPad Pro because only the iPad Pro models then had more than 256 GB of memory.
My current iPad Pro is an 8-year-old 10.5 inch with 256 GB of memory so the model I plan to get has three improvements:
1) faster chip
2) bigger display
3) four times the memory
Of course, if money were no object, I would get the new iPad Pro but with limited financial resources the one I chose represents the best value for money that suits my needs
That’ll be an amazing upgrade, enjoy! I’m similarly upgrading from a 2017 iPad Pro 10.5’ to the new 13 inch M4 :D
Cancelled. Ordered the 13”….😂
At the end of the day, I’m upgrading from the 2020 iPad Pro 12.9 for the OLED display.

Can’t wait until the 15th.
at the end of the day , it is still an ipad with specs upgraded. And it is still held back by the software.
I look forward to the mini

Dude completely forgot about the jelly scroll in the ipad minis. I have a ipad pro i bought a mini because of how cool they were and it’s completely unusable because of that one issue. They said they will address this issue in the next launch of mini later this year i guess
@@timrichards8533 I hope so. The jelly scroll is why I didn’t buy. I’ll buy one if they fix it.
If someone's looking at the new iPad Air, I would personally steer them towards a refurbished or used M1 or M2 iPad Pro instead. It's the same accessory ecosystem and you get the the Pro Motion display, Face ID, Thunderbolt, etc.
The M2 Air 11" looks promising, even more when you only need the WiFi. I wouldn't say cheap, but affordable.
Don’t be fooled iPad Air is not 11 inch it’s 10.9 and that extra 0.1 inch it’s important because it’s such a big difference that you will never notice.
That’s what she said 😂
Good overview.

I think I will have to go for the M2 iPad Pro 11 or maybe wait if a new mini pops up this year.
Just got a mini 6. I know from an apple enthusiast point of view it might not have been the best purchase, but it’s more than fast enough for what I do. And all the rumors have just been pointing to a chip upgrade.
Upgrading from my Daily use iPad Air 2 to an iPad Pro 13“ 1TB will be so a big upgrade ❤ can wait to use it 😊
Coming from 3rd gen iPad Pro (1st of this design language). All I’ve been waiting for is the OLED display - And finally, it’s here. I was close to getting the last model with M2 and the mini led display but I’m glad I read websites leaks and watch RUclipsrs repeat it in layman’s terms.
Still have the original iPad Air 9.7, still works fine.
The 2018 iPad pro still goes on
Best iPad ever
@@nairazak_art hell yeah 👍
I’m just glad I decided on an Apple Pencil USB-C a while ago because that one will still be compatible with the newest generations.
best comparison video i've seen, great job! :)
Thanks Greg. Great comparison. Really helpful to start evaluating until user reviews start landing. I initially was leaning to the Pro but after watching this see that an Air would more than suffice for my usage needs.
Reckon mini led could come to the iPad Air / iPad mini someday?
Hey Greg, the new iPad Pro sounds and looks really good. I still have an iPad Pro 12.9 fourth generation with the A12 chip. Is it worth upgrading to the new M4 iPad Pro or try to get a M2 iPad Pro at a discount?
M4 chip is totally overkill ... but that brighter OLED screen is enticing
Really good guide! You even mentioned the extra core on the bigger storage ipad pros!
Hi Greg, love your videos! I am a regular iPad user and mostly just watching videos on it. Would you recommend that I get a new iPad Air or iPad 10 gen? Is iPad Air better in terms of video quality?
Both are fine for that, but iPad Air has less glare for video, a brighter display, and wider colors with P3 display support.

The other option is to simply get a previous gen iPad/Air/Pro for less now this event has happened - each event, there are at least a few people wanting to trade up.
cool shirt, could you share where you got it?
It’s in IBM tshirt… company tshirt
Does the iPad Pro support dual monitor capability ?
I have the m2 ipad pro it’s very good but tbh you can’t do anything with that power i don’t regret getting m2 but if someone asked me which ipad they should get i’ll tell them just go with the m1 and pay for a larger space they can use better than power they can’t use
As somone who has no idea about technology, this was very helpful!! Thanks!
Still have an 2020 iPad Pro that’s going strong. I use it for university, drawing and whenever I need to take notes. I am a little bit disappointed that the pro pencil wont work with mine, but that’s not enough for me to up grade a perfectly fine Maschine
Pencil compatibility has definitely dampened my fervour.
I’m debating should I get last years pro or the air?
What about battery in the pros? Will being brighter eat more battery?
I’m excited order a 13 and 11 pro woohoo I haven’t upgraded for about 3 to 4 years

Thanks dude. I really wish they upgraded the Mini too. do you?

The Apple Mastercard is thinner?
The 11” iPad Air M2’s sdr brightness is 500 nits max and the 13” iPad Air M2’s sdr brightness is 600 nits max.
Which one should I buy? Neither. I’m sticking with my 11” M1 iPad Pro. It’s been great unless Apple’s new iPadOS 18 clobbers performance (which it might, iPadOS is a performance slug.)
Wondering if thin 13 pro is more usable more than previous 12.9. I love big screen but it always felt too big. Maybe thinness makes it better?

Another great brand new iPad designs 🤩😍
There’s no new design, the borders are still the same size. The shape is still the same, all the buttons and cameras are still in the same place. Dimensions are technically different because it’s thinner but that’s it.
The Ipad I have is 8 years old and I don't see me upgrading anytime soon as I only use it basically as a paper diary. (I have the new macbook pro m2). However, if they got significantly thinner and better cameras (why are they still 12 megapixel after 8 years apple?) and significantly better battery life I'd probably take the plunge.
I would wait until WWDC before making a decision!
What to expect? If you are hoping iPad to be more like a MacBook think again. With Tim Cook he wants to sell both as he’s not a visionary like Steve.
Wish there was an iPad mini update. I'm waiting for that one. I'm good for now for how I use my iPad Mini.
so they rounded up the estimates of the display sizes instead of being accurate so it's still 12.9 inches not 13...? did they think people wouldn't measure the screen size ?
